  • Hydrographic data including particulate organic carbon (POC) from the Northeastern Gulf of Mexico (NEGOM) study were used along with remotely sensed data obtained from NASA's Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) to develop POC algorithms to estimate POC concentration based on empirical and model-based principal component analysis (PCA) methods. In Case I and II waters empirical maximized simple ratio (MSR) and model-based PCA algorithms using full wavebands (blue, green and red wavelengths) provide more robust estimates of POC. The predicted POC concentrations matched well the spatial and seasonal distributions of POC measured in situ in the Gulf of Mexico. The ease in calculating the MSR algorithm compared to PCA analysis makes MSR the preferred algorithm for routine use. In order to determine the inter-annual variations of POC, MSR algorithms applied to calculate 100 monthly mean values of POC concentrations (September 1997-December 2005). The spatial and temporal variations of POC and sea surface temperature (SST) were analyzed with the empirical orthogonal function (EOF) method. POC estimates showed inter-annual variation in three different locations and may be affected by El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o/Southern$ Oscillation (ENSO) events.

  • The possibility to develop optoelectronic devices with improved properties by controlling the degree of organization at the molecular level of organic materials has been driving the design of new ${\pi}-conjugated$ systems. In particular, the organization by self-assembling processes (${\tilde{\Box}}{\d{\Box}}}$ interactions, hydrogen bonding) of well-defined oligomeric systems such as disubstituted oligothiophene derivatives has been demonstrated as a promising approach to conjugated materials with a high degree of structural order of the constituent building blocks. The self-organization of conjugated building blocks in solution or on surfaces, leading to the construction of nanoscopic and mesoscopic architectures, represents a starting point for the construction of molecular electronics or even circuits, through surface patterning with nanometer-sized objects.

  • Filipino language is an Austronesian language based on numerous native languages with influences from other major languages such as English and Spanish. The Filipino alphabet is consists of 26 English alphabets, with the addition of two letters, "$\tilde{n}$" and "ng", a total of 28 letters. Filipino language expressions and sentences are still incomparable to English and Spanish even though there are numerous borrowed words from these languages. This study aims to discover the uniqueness in the Filipino language by identifying the frequencies of the letters in common words used and be able to introduce a revolutionary keypad for the Filipinos which is scientifically efficient. To compare the efficiency of the revised and the original keypad, computations using Fitts' Law, Hick-Hyman Law and KSPC were done. Results showed that the new keypad layout was more effective than the original keypad. Introducing a improvised keypad to the Filipinos is one step closer in achieving customized services and features to Filipinos in mobile computing.

  • The photodissociation dynamics of bromobenzene near 234 nm has been investigated using a two-dimensional photofragment ion-imaging technique coupled with a state-selective [2+1] resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) scheme. The nascent Br atoms are produced by the primary C-Br bond dissociation, which leads to the formation of $C_6H_5$ ($\tilde{X}$) and Br($^2P_j$, j = 1/2, 3/2). The observed translational energy distributions have been fitted by a single Boltzmann function and two Gaussian functions. Trimodal translational energy distributions of Br($^2P_j$) have been assigned to the direct/indirect dissociation mechanisms originating from the initially excited $^3({\pi},{\pi}^*)$ state. The assignments have been confirmed by the recoil anisotropy and distribution width corresponding to the individual components.

  • In order to produce the high quality rehydrated acorn Mook(Korean tradition gel flood) that enhance acceptability, the optimum condition was investigated for the rehydration process of dried Monk as salt concentration(0, 1, 2%), temperature(20, 70, 80, 90$^{\circ}C$) and time. The estimation of moisture gain, rehydration efficiency was analyzed statistically. The surface color md seniory evaluation were undertaken to evaluate the rehydrated Mook quality The optimum rehydration time was decided to 15 minutes and it takes 3 minutes for the cooling tilde. The moisture gain increased as the rehydration temperature increase. And the moisture gain and moisture gain rate were higher at 1% salt solution than other concentration. As the rehydration efficiency, surface color and sensory properties of rehydrated Mook, 1% salt treatment was superior.

  • Freed from its traditional confinement to the human body, postmodernism in fashion exposes the defectiveness of body and abstracts from the body under. As the 20th century art put premium on self-expression, the body itself became a powerful medium of expression in fashion. Using 'body' to analyze the clothing form, my study develops a framework by which to classify the fragmentation of the body in fashion. In order to inquire the formative style and aesthetic values expressed in fragmentation of the body in fashion, my study examines subjects from the discourse on the body to the fashion collections of the late 20th and 21st century, The results of the study are as follows. Fragmentation of the body in fashion means the break away from the idealized and standardized body for mass productions. It tends to experiment with extreme exaggeration in form, refusing to subscribe to the traditional values that build on the balance and symmetry of the body. The formative aspects of fragmentation are achieved through body casting, displacement, and deconstruction. The absence of physicality in fashion opposes the sartorial convention and symbolism that results in the discord between signifiant and $signifi{\tilde{e}}$ of clothing. Fashion continues to explore forms and images that transcend the traditional representations of the clothed body. As a type of intimate architecture, fashion always mediates the dialogue between clothes and body, or fashion and figure. My study suggests a framework to analyze fragmentation of the body in fashion, focusing on the relationship between the clothes and body.

  • The tilde use of Information Technology (IT), especially the rapid diffusion of the internet, brings us a new paradigm, called "Electronic Commerce," or "Digital Economy." The paradigm is regarded as a business strategy essential to organizations′competitive advantages. Because few studies have been shown in the area of e-strategies, especially in the combined strategies of clicks and mortars, a study of this area is required. The main questions of this study are empirically to validate the usefulness and applicability of a decision roadmap and to analyze the situation of Korean firms in the view of the decision roadmap. Major results of this study are as follows : First, there is an evidence that the roadmap can be applied to Korean firms regardless of their industry and size. Second, the usefulness of the roadmap is proved because companies following the directions of the roadmap show high degree of satisfaction with online sales. Third, Korean companies in general do not achieve an Ideal Integration (or separation), especially In terms of management and operation. In conclusion, this study provides an e-business strategy Planner some guidelines about how to achieve right mix of on-line and off-line business.

  • The statistical prediction model for wintertime surface air temperature, that is based on snow cover extent and Arctic sea ice concentration, is updated by considering $El-Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Quasi-Biennial Oscillation (QBO). These additional factors, representing leading modes of interannual variability in the troposphere and stratosphere, enhance the seasonal prediction over the Northern Hemispheric surface air temperature, even though their impacts are dependent on the predicted month and region. In particular, the prediction of Korean surface air temperature in midwinter is substantially improved. In December, ENSO improved about 10% of prediction skill compared without it. In January, ENSO and QBO jointly helped to enhance prediction skill up to 36%. These results suggest that wintertime surface air temperature in Korea can be better predicted by considering not only high-latitude surface conditions (i.e., Eurasian snow cover extent and Arctic sea ice concentration) but also equatorial sea surface temperature and stratospheric circulation.

  • Objective : Bone homeostasis is maintained by balance of bone formation and resorption. Therefore, bone related diseases arose by disturbance of this balance between osteoblast and osteoclast activities. To develop a successful screening system of the therapeutic components based on oriental medicine is essential to set out systematic approach for that purpose. Methods : This study was perforated Sprague-Dawley rat femur for bony defects(${\phi}5mm$) by the fissure bur. And experimetal group were treated with Cervi Pantotricuhum Cornu injection at both $Sh{\grave{e}}nsh{\tilde{u}}$(BL23) & $D{\grave{a}}zh{\grave{u}}(BL11)(0.2m{\ell})$. This was evaluated by radiography and histological analysis with in situ hybridization. Results : Cervi Pantotricuhum Cornu Herbal Acupuncture has weak effect on bony defect healing and this was evaluated by X-ray taking and histological analysis with in situ hybridization. Osteocalcin gene expression was not changed by Cervi Pantotricuhum Cornu Herbal Acupuncture in bony defects animal model. Conclusion : Taken together this study show that the Cervi Pantotricuhum Cornu herbal-acupuncture has a weak effect healing of bony defects, this type of approach might give a good chance to explore the favorable effects of Cervi Pantotricuhum Cornu herbal-acupuncture on bone tissue.

  • Some practical methods have already been proposed for predicting the characteristics of ship manoeuvring motions at relatively high advance speed. However, these methods can hardly be applied to motions of ships in starting, stoppint, backing and slow steaming conditions, even though such extensive motions are of vital importance from a safety point of view particularly in harbour areas. The method presented here aims at predicting the characteristics of ship manoeuvring at low advance speed, which covers starting, stopping, backing and slow steaming conditions. The force mathematical models at large angles of incidence to the hull as well as under the tilde range of propeller operations are formulated. Simulations of various manoeuvres at low advance speed are carried out for two types of merchant ship, i.e. a LNGC and a VLCC. Comparisons between simulations and corresponding full-scale measurements or free-running model tests provide a first verification of the proposed mathematical models.
