Hitchcock, "a master of the thriller" "leading figure of thriller", was famous for his work style. He never starts filming until completing a perfect conception in his mind before shooting. He started filming after getting a perfect filming plan adding a picture even one detailed shot picture. Also the movie costumes was not an exception in his movie. He put more main object to express a symbolic meanings by recreating movie costumes which were fit to drama′s subject than function which spoke for contemporary popularity also he guides actors to put on the movie costumes examined previously to shape a definite visual character in that works. This research intends not only to look into symbolic and expressive means of dresses through the movie costumes on thriller appeared in Hitchcock′s movie, but also the comprehension width by grasping importance of the movie-costume and dress image in the movie. Hitchock made about 55 movies, mostly thriller movies, from Number 13(1922) n unfinished work to family plot(1976) ones posthumous work. This research examined his the second half of term works(after 1950) such s Rear Window(1954), Vertigo(1958), Psycho(1960), Torn Curtain(19660, Topaz(1969) and Frenzy(1972) which are generally familiar to the public. In conclusion, we can find that the thriller movie costumes as well s the other movie and appeared a character of the film′s characters, social rank, economic level, personality. But expecially, a costume of Hitchcock′s thriller movie can be contained a characteristic factor of a kind of five.

The character dialogue created by AI is unnatural when compared with human-made dialogue, and it can not reveal the character's personality properly in spite of remarkable development of AI. The purpose of this paper is to classify characters through the linguistic style and to investigate the relation of the specific linguistic style with the personality. We analyzed the dialogues of 92 characters selected from total 60 movies categorized four movie genres, such as romantic comedy, action, comedy and horror/thriller, using Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC), a text analysis software. As a result, we confirmed that there is a unique language style according to genre. Especially, we could find that the emotional tone than analytical thinking are two important features to classify. They were analyzed as very important features for classification as the precision and recall is over 78% for romantic comedy and action. However, the precision and recall were 66% and 50% for comedy and horror/thriller. Their impact on classification was less than romantic comedy and action genre. The characters of romantic comedy deal with the affection between men and women using a very high value of emotional tone than analytical thinking. The characters of action genre who need rational judgment to perform mission have much greater analytical thinking than emotional tone. Additionally, in the case of comedy and horror/thriller, we analyzed that they have many kinds of characters and that characters often change their personalities in the story.

In composing film music, you need to put a bigger emphasis on the Interrelationship between melody, rhythm and harmony. However, to create more tension in the genre of suspense or thrillers, it is possible to direct music with the unique tone color such as theremin machinelike instrument.

This paper analyzes the effect of the number of viewers and the number of running screens in the theater, genres of the movies and holdback period on the number of purchases movie VOD contents. In this paper, we deals with the 169 movies VOD consumption data which the digital cable TV subscribers purchased during the third quarter of 2013. As a result of the research, the average number of VOD purchases per each movie is 2,540. Regression analysis proves that the number of running screens and the holdback period are statistically playing a role of significance in movie VOD purchases. But the number of viewers in the theaters is not of significance. By genres, the result is shown as in this order: SF/fantasy 8,401 > dramas 4,011 > comedies 2,011 > action 1,789 > animation 1,138 > love story/melo 1,119 > horror/thriller 770 > erotic movies 636.

Objectives: While cinema is regarded in the contemporary popular leisure activities, the presentation smoking scenes in films has not been fully studied. We investigated Korean box-office hit movies by using content analysis. Methods: We sampled fifty-one hit films played in Korean cinemas during the period 2000-2013. Here, a hit film is defined as a movie viewed by at least 5,000,000 audiences. Results: We found that 78.1% of the Korean hit films contained smoking scenes, whereas only 15.6% of the American hit films were so. Films with the more frequent number of smoking scenes could be lined up in the order of crime, thriller, and action genres (p<.05). Smoking actors were leading roles, hence attractive characters appealing to the audience. Moreover, the smoking rate of female characters in the films was determined to be 3.66 times greater than the actual smoking rate of females in reality. Conclusions: Smoking scenes are likely to affect the audiences' cognitive priming and/or social learning with respect to smoking. Therefore, it would be necessary to set a restriction standard to the frequency of smoking scenes to appear Korean films, and to consider it as an important factor in the assigning a screening grade to such films.

This Paper aims to explore the key factors that drive box-office success in Korean, Chinese and Japanese film market regarding to the storytelling of the movies. At first, I researched the top 20 movies at the box office of Korean, Chinese and Japanese film market from 2007 to 2011.And then I tried to figure out the key factors for the success and the differences among those countries. Usually the purpose of the movie planning in Korea is for the domestic market. In the profit structure of Korean film industry, it is really hard to focus on the overseas film market. In Chinese film market, recently it has been changed a lot especially film genre. The movie liked to watch is melodrama, romantic comedy movie It is being changed to the comedy genre from the war and martial arts movie. And it is emphasized the importance of the scenario in the film production. They want to watch their lives like a real and dreams at the movie and the movie tries to show this trend. In Japanese film market, they made movies in which TV drama, animation and cartoon according to the O.S.M.U. strategy. The movies like to watch are the blockbuster movies, horror movies, thriller movies and melodrama. Comparing with Korea and China, they like movies which show more fantastic and fairy tale imagination.

Emotion plays a key role in both generating and understanding narrative. In this article we analyzed the emotions represented in a movie script based on 8 emotion types from the wheel of emotions by Plutchik. First we conducted manual emotion tagging scene by scene. The most dominant emotions by manual tagging were anger, fear, and surprise. It makes sense when the film script we analyzed is a thriller-genre. We assumed that the emotions around the climax of the story would be heightened as the tension grew up. From manual tagging we could identify three such duration when the tension is high. Next we analyzed the emotions in the same script using Python-based NLTK VADERSentiment tool. The result showed that the emotions of anger and fear were most matched. The emotion of surprise, anticipation, and disgust, however, scored lower matching.

Forecasting of box office performance after a film release is very important, from the viewpoint of increase profitability by reducing the production cost and the marketing cost. Analysis of psychological factors such as word-of-mouth and expert assessment is essential, but hard to perform due to the difficulties of data collection. Information technology such as web crawling and text mining can help to overcome this situation. For effective text mining, categorization of objects is required. In this perspective, the objective of this study is to provide a framework for classifying films according to their characteristics. Data including psychological factors are collected from Web sites using the web crawling. A clustering analysis is conducted to classify films and a series of one-way ANOVA analysis are conducted to statistically verify the differences of characteristics among groups. The result of the cluster analysis based on the review and revenues shows that the films can be categorized into four distinct groups and the differences of characteristics are statistically significant. The first group is high sales of the box office and the number of clicks on reviews is higher than other groups. The characteristic of the second group is similar with the 1st group, while the length of review is longer and the box office sales are not good. The third group's audiences prefer to documentaries and animations and the number of comments and interests are significantly lower than other groups. The last group prefer to criminal, thriller and suspense genre. Correspondence analysis is also conducted to match the groups and intrinsic characteristics of films such as genre, movie rating and nation.

Since the placement of the THAAD missiles has recently cooled the relationship between Korea and China, many Korea-China joint films and entertainment businesses have collapsed. To make matters worse, there is also many opinions for "Korea-China joint film useless" in China through the results of many Korea-China joint films. In my opinion, the causes of failures of the Korea-China joint films are the lack of understanding and experience of Korean filmmakers in the Chinese film industry. So, By examining the history of Chinese cinema in this paper, I want to establish the character formation of the Chinese film industry. And cause a criminal-thriller genre has to undergo more stringer censorship than any other genre, I will introduce the production process of remake of the Korean film . By introducing the censorship method of the Chinese film industry and the actual cases applied, I want to help understand the present status of Chinse film industry. Also, I intend to give some proposals to Korean filmmakers preparing a Korea-China joint film, and express my brief opinion for the development of the Korea-China joint film industry.
