This study was carried out to provide the basic data for an identifying system for Iris species distributed in Korean market from complete analysing of genetic relationship between three native Iris species and one cultivar bred from the native Iris plant. RAPD analysis of genetic relationship among 4 Irises was possible. According to the RAPD analysis, they were divided into two groups. Among 4 Irises used in this study, Iris laevigata 'Veriegata', Iris laevigata and Iris setosa were classified into the same group since they had many similarities even though the habitat of Iris laevigata in Korean peninsular is restricted mainly in the south and Iris setosa is naturally inhabited in the northern part of Kangwondo. The value for the dissimilarity index of Iris laevigata and Iris laevigata 'Veriegata' was 6.757. The value for the dissimilarity index of Iris laevigata and Iris dichotoma was 95.000, so that they were genetically the farthest among them since the genetic relationship between two species are separated far if the value of the dissimilarity index is close to 100.
Turfgrass species were evaluated for their rooting and foliar characteristics, and their interaction with the soil. The rooting system was divided into three compartments, one above another, such that the top and bottom compartments of the root system could be supplied with a nutrient deprived solution. Exposure of parts of the roots to nitrate deprivation caused a localised retardation of root initiation and extension, compared with zones receiving the full supply of nutrients. This resulted in considerable modification to root form, coupled with a significant depression in foliar growth. The extension of roots was the least affected by the deprivation of potassium. Phosphate and calcium deprivations gave rise to similar responses in root and foliar formation. Results from this study showed that external concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and calcium are required by the root system in varying amounts for optimal growth of roots. Turfgrass coverage and turf quality ratings further reinforced these findings. No significant difference was observed between the different grasses examined here. All three species responded similarly to the deprivation of the various nutrients. Results from this study confirmed that targeted fertilization programs are beneficial and can help reduce cost, chemical usage and prevent leachate and contamination.
The fisheries control system being now enforced in all countries may be generally classified as three types - the input control system, the output control system, and the technical control system. In Asian countries that have relatively small fishery scales, diverse object species and the fisheries resources has been regarded as "governmental possessions", fisheries have been controled subsidiarily using the technical control system based on the input control system traditionally. While in Europe and America that have relatively large fisheries scales, simple object species and the fisheries resources has been regarded as "common property", fisheries have been controled subsidiarily using the input control system and the technical control system based on the output control system. In Korea, fisheries have been controled subsidiarily using the technical control system based on the input control system traditionally, nevertheless overexplotation and overcapitalization have not been solved. Recently the EEZ was promulgated, the total allowable catch system was introduced to control the EEZ. But the output control system is totally different from the input control system of the Korea traditional fisheries system, simultaneous availableness of both system is considerably difficulty. Therefore a study on new systems to make both systems harmonized has to be performed. The thesis is aimed at presenting the general improvement direction of the Korea fisheries control system as the basis for establishment of the new fisheries control system.

Turkish towel (Chondracanthus exasperatus), Pacific dulse (Palmaria mollis, also known as Red ribbon seaweed), and sea lettuce (Ulva spp.) were cultivated in a land-based intensive culture system at the Manchester Research Station, USA from August 2013 to September 2014. Macroalgae were grown in tumble-aerated tanks, harvested bimonthly for seasonal growth calculations, and analyzed for protein, lipid, ash, and amino acid content. Growth rate of all three species exhibited a similar pattern, with the highest specific growth rates occurring during the summer months (Turkish towel: 7.8%, Pacific dulse: 8.2%, and sea lettuce: 6.2%). Growth of all three species was lowest around winter solstice; with negative growth only observed in sea lettuce. On a dry weight basis significant differences in protein content existed between the three species with highest values for sea lettuce ($29.5{\pm}1.4%$). Lipid content varied between species (0.95-2.78%) with significantly higher lipid observed in sea lettuce (0.58-4.82%). No significant differences were detected on a seasonal basis among each species. Essential amino acids accounted for $43{\pm}0.9$ to $47{\pm}1.2%$ of total amino acids with Turkish towel having the highest value. Turkish towel had a significantly higher taurine level ($0.82{\pm}0.27$) than the other macroalgae. The levels of persistent organic pollutants and heavy metals were low. The estimated annual product of the three species ranged from 50- to $70-mt\;dry\;weight\;ha^{-1}\;y^{-1}$, significantly higher than conventional crops. Land-based culture of these species can produce year-round harvest, consistent product quality, and low contaminant levels.

We investigate a three species food chain system with Lotka-Volterra type functional response and impulsive perturbations. We find a condition for the local stability of prey or predator free periodic solutions by applying the Floquet theory and the comparison theorems and show the boundedness of this system. Furthermore, we illustrate some examples.
This study investigated the species composition and community structure of aquatic organisms captured using coastal beam trawling in Gomso Bay, Jeollabuk-do, from January to December 2022. Throughout the experimental period, a total of 20,246 individuals belonging to 94 marine species were captured, with a combined biomass of 602,828 g. Fish exhibited the highest abundance, comprising 56 species, followed by crustacea (21 species), bivalvia (8 species), cephalopoda (5 species), gastropoda (3 species), and holothuroidea (1 species). The dominant species was Leiognathus nuchalis, constituting 14.0% of the total individuals, followed by Portunus trituberculatus at 12.1%, Oratosquilla oratoria at 10.4%, Crangon hakodatei at 9.9%, and Metapenaeus joyneri at 7.9%. The diversity index ranged from 1.72 to 2.55, with the lowest diversity observed in March and the highest in July. Cluster analysis based on species composition of the 27 most common species showed that aquatic organisms were divided into three groups: spring and summer organisms (Group A) and summer organisms (Group B) and autumn and winter organisms (Group C).

An approach to construct multiple interpretable and precise fuzzy systems based on the Pareto Multi-objective Cooperative Coevolutionary Algorithm (PMOCCA) is proposed in this paper. First, a modified fuzzy clustering algorithm is used to construct antecedents of fuzzy system, and consequents are identified separately to reduce computational burden. Then, the PMOCCA and the interpretability-driven simplification techniques are executed to optimize the initial fuzzy system with three objectives: the precision performance, the number of fuzzy rules and the number of fuzzy sets; thus both the precision and the interpretability of the fuzzy systems are improved. In order to select the best individuals from each species, we generalize the NSGA-II algorithm from one species to multi-species, and propose a new non-dominated sorting technique and collaboration mechanism for cooperative coevolutionary algorithm. Finally, the proposed approach is applied to two benchmark problems, and the results show its validity.
The polychaeta fauna of the benthos and fouling of the northwestern part of the East Sea was studied during the period of 1971-1998. Three introduced species of polychaetes: Hydorides elegans (Haswell), Polydora limicola Annenkova, and Pseudopotamilla occelata Moore were found. H. elegans was discovered only on the artificial surfaces in Golden Horn Inlet (port Vladivostok), where this species may occur because of hermal pollution due to the discharge of warm waters of the water cooling system of Thermal-Electric Power Station-2 (TEPS-2) in Vladivostok which has been in function since 1971. The abundant population of H. elegans exists in the bay throughout the year and is capable of reproduction. The biomass of H. elegans may reach several $kg/m^2$ in August-September. P. limicola was found at the same time in the fouling of hydrotechnical structures of Vladivostok, Nakhodka, Holmsk and Uglegorsk ports with a biomass of $1-3kg/m^2$. Slow introduction of P. limicola occurs by coastal sail ships at present. The invasion of P. occelata into Peter the Great Bay may be an example of introduction and subsequent naturalization, which produced considerable changes in the structure of benthic communities. The three species of polychaetous sessile organisms and their invasion occurred by ocean and coasters sea-going ships (unintentional transport vectors). H. elegans and P. occelata were most probably transported to the northwestern part of the East Sea from Japan, and P.
Polychaetous community survey in Tomioka Bay was carried out 5 times seasonally from May 1991 to March 1992 by quantitative grab sampling (0.05m2) at 11 stations. Based on the granulometric composition and environmental factors, a homogeneous soft bottom was found in St.5-10. The species of the polychaete were classified into three feeding groups using the Fauchald and Jumars' feeding guild system. According to polychaetous community composition data, deposit feeders predominate in sandy silt area where the silt-clay content is $60-69.3\%.$ These deposit feeders were subdivided into surface deposit feeders and subsurface deposit feeders by their living position and mode. Also, suspension feeding group comes as the third dominant group. Seasonal changes of each feeding group were described in terms of numerical density and biomass. Feeding layer and types of dominant species (Lumbrineris longifolia: surface deposit feeder; Praxillella pacifica: subsurface deposit feeder; Chone duneri; suspension filter feeder, etc.) were examined in the intact sediment core samples. Also, longterm density change among the three dominant species during 10 years was disussed.
Plants of the genus Taraxacum are well-known as a traditional herbal remedy with a long history, and they have also been extensively used as food, chemicals and cosmetics. In this study, four Taraxacum species distributed in Korea (T. mongolicum, T. officinale, T. mongolicum variation and T. officinale variation) were utilized for an efficient method for direct multiple shooting induction and regeneration, using leaf blade, transition zone, petiole and root as explants in MS media with various hormone concentration and combination. MS medium containing IAA 0.2 mg/L and TDZ 1.0 mg/L showed the highest induction frequency of all the hormone combinations. Besides, the induction of T. mongolicum variation was most effective comparing with the other three species by the average induction frequency of four explants. While the induction effect of leaf blade explant was more obvious than the other three explants. This system exhibited a rapid propagation of shoots from the leaf blade explants and makes it convenient to make use of these Taraxacum species to develop their diverse applications in the future.
