This study was performed to develop thin layer drying equations for green rice. Thin layer drying tests of green rice were conducted at three temperature levels of 30, 40, $50^{\circ}C$ and two relative humidity levels of 30, 50% respectively. The measured moisture ratio were fitted to the selected four drying models (Page, Thompson, Simplified diffusion and Lewis model) using stepwise multiple regression analysis. The overall drying rate increased as the drying air temperature and as relative humidity was increased, but the effect of temperature increase was dominant. Half response time (Moisture ratio=0.5) of drying was affected by both drying temperature and relative humidity Drying rate was mainly affected by relative humidity at drying temperature of $50^{\circ}C$. The results of comparing coefficients of determination and root mean square error of moisture ratio for four drying models showed the Page model was found to ft adequately to all drying test data.
This study was performed to develop thin layer drying equations for low temperature. Thin layer drying tests of short grain rough rice were conducted at three low temperature levels of 15, 25, $35^{\circ}C$ and two relative humidity levels of 30, $50\%$, respectively. The measured moisture ratios were fitted to the selected four drying models (Page, Thompson, Simplified diffusion and Lewis model) using stepwise multiple regression analysis. The overall drying rate increased as the drying air temperature was increased and as relative humidity was decreased, but the effect of temperature increase was dominant. Half response time (Moisture ratio=0.5) of drying was affected by both drying temperature and relative humidity at drying temperature of below $25^{\circ}C$, but at $35^{\circ}C$ was mainly affected by drying temperature. The results of comparing coefficients of determination and root mean square error of moisture ratio for low drying models showed that Page model was found to fit adequately to all drying test data.

A suite of 3D large deformation finite element (FE) analyses was performed to investigate the load transfer mechanism and penetration resistance of spudcan foundations in heterogeneous soil profile consisting of sand and clay. The Elasto-Plastic models following Mohr-Coulomb and Tresca failure criteria were adopted for sand and clay, respectively. The accuracy of the numerical model was validated against centrifuge test measurements. The dense sand behavior with dilation is modeled using the non-associated flow rule. An investigation study consisting of key parameters, which includes variation in soil stratigraphy (sand-clay, sand-clay-sand), strength parameters of sand and clay (' and su) and normalized height ratio of the sand layer (Hs/D) was conducted to assess the penetration behavior of spudcan. Based on calculated outputs, it was demonstrated that these parameters have a significant influence on the penetration resistance of spudcan. The calculated penetration resistance profiles are compared with the published (sand overlying clay) analytical model. It is confirmed that for the case of two-layer soil, the available theoretical model provides an accurate estimate of peak penetration resistance (qpeak). In the case of three-layer soil, the presence of a third stiff layer affects the penetration resistance profile due to the squeezing of the soil.
Slope stability is generally paid more attention to in slope protection works, especially for slope containing weak layers. Two indexes of safety factor and failure model are selected to perform slope stability. Moreover, the finite element limit analysis method comprehensively combines the advantage of the limit analysis method and the finite element method obtaining the upper and lower bounds of the safety factor and the failure mode under the slope stability limit state. In this study, taking a waste dump containing a weak layer as an engineering background, the finite element limit analysis method is adopted to explore the potential failure mode. Meanwhile, the sensitivity analysis of slope stability is performed on geometrical and geotechnical parameters of the waste dump. The results show that the failure mode of the waste dump slope is two wedges if the weak layer is located on the ground surface (Model A), while the slope can be observed as three wedges failure if the weak layer is below the ground surface (Model B). In addition, both failure modes are highly sensitive to the friction angle of the weak layer and the shear strength of waste disposal, and moderately sensitive to the heap height, the dip angle and cohesion of the weak layer, while the toe cutting has limited effect on the slope stability. Moreover, the sensitivity to the excavation of the ground depends on the location of the weak layer and failure mode.

Recently, demands on thin multi-layer printed circuit boards(PCB) have been rapidly increased with broad spread of personal portable digital appliances such as multi-media. In case of mobile phone, however, the fact that PCBs have low flexural strength might cause defects. The purpose of this study is to improve the flexural strength by substituting the well-known GFRP(glass fiber reinforced plastic) for CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastic). Firstly, finite element simulation was carried out using ABAQUS to find out a unique CFRP layer that has a role to sustain the applied forces mainly in PCB. Secondly, three point bending tests were conducted with the newly designed CFRP PCB model to verify the improvement of the flexural strength. Consequently, it is shown that PCB layered with the CFRP on both outer sides of the board can be used to improve the flexural strength effectively.

In this paper, the tensile failure behaviour of transversally bedding layers was numerically simulated by using particle flow code in two dimensions. Firstly, numerical model was calibrated by uniaxial, Brazilian and triaxial experimental results to ensure the conformity of the simulated numerical model's response. Secondly, 21 circular models with diameter of 54 mm were built. Each model contains two transversely bedding layers. The first bedding layer has low mechanical properties, less than mechanical properties of intact material, and second bedding layer has high mechanical properties, more than mechanical properties of intact material. The angle of first bedding layer, with weak mechanical properties, related to loading direction was $0^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $75^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ while the angle of second layer, with high mechanical properties, related to loading direction was $90^{\circ}$, $105^{\circ}$, $120^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$, $150^{\circ}$, $160^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$. Is to be note that the angle between bedding layer was $90^{\circ}$ in all bedding configurations. Also, three different pairs of the thickness was chosen in models; i.e., 5 mm/10 mm, 10 mm/10 mm and 20 mm/10 mm. The result shows that In all configurations, shear cracks develop between the weaker bedding layers. Shear cracks angel related to normal load change from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$ with increment of $15^{\circ}$. Numbers of shear cracks are constant by increasing the bedding thickness. It's to be note that in some configuration, tensile cracks develop through the intact area of material model. There is not any failure in direction of bedding plane interface with higher strength.

Electromechanical model for analyzing a multimodal piezoelectric energy harvester comprising three connected beams is presented in this paper. This system consists of three beams which are connected alternately. The piezoelectric layer is only attached to the middle beam. With this special structural configuration, the first, second, and third natural frequencies are congregated so that the energy harvester can generate meaningful amount of power consistently when the main frequency component of the excitation varies around the lowest three natural frequencies of the harvester. To investigate the dynamic and electric response of the piezoelectric energy harvester, an electromechanical model is developed using the Kane's method and the accuracy of the model is validated by comparing the results obtained with the model with those obtained with the commercial software ANSYS. The results show that the piezoelectric energy harvester comprising three connected beams has much broader power generating frequency range than that of the conventional piezoelectric energy harvester.

Three-dimensional cohesive sediment transport model, COSETM-3, is develpoed using a finite difference method. The model results are compared with the physical experimental results for the relative concentration with time at the mid-depth of the recirculating flume and are found to be in good agreement. This model is applied to Suyoung Bay in Pusan of Korea to verify the field applicability of the model and to investigate on the SS (suspended solids) diffusion phenomena at the bay. Behaviors of discharging SS from Suyoung River at normal river flow and flood river flow are predicted. The numerical results appear to be reasonable and qualitative agreement with field data. The influence of settling velocity on the concentration distribution of SS is also investigated. In case of not considering settling velocity, SS concentration at surface layer is higher than that at lower layer, but in case of considering settling velocity, SS concentration at lower layer is higher than that at surface layer. The fluctuation of SS concentration at surface layer is large due to the strong mixing, but the fluctuation of the concentration at lower layer is small due to the weak mixing. SS diffusion patterns at flood river flow are similar to those at normal river flow, while the concentration at that flow is so much higher than that at this flow. SS concentration increases with time until the peak discharge occurs, but the concentration decreases with time with decreasing river flow after the peak discharge.

The widespread usage of blockchain technology in cryptocurrencies has led to the adoption of the blockchain concept in data storage management systems for secure and effective data storage and management. Several innovative studies have proposed solutions that integrate blockchain with distributed databases. In this article, we review current blockchain databases, then focus on two well-known blockchain databases-BigchainDB and FalconDB-to illustrate their architecture and design aspects in more detail. BigchainDB is a distributed database that integrates blockchain properties to enhance immutability and decentralization as well as a high transaction rate, low latency, and accurate queries. Its architecture consists of three layers: the transaction layer, consensus layer, and data model layer. FalconDB, on the other hand, is a shared database that allows multiple clients to collaborate on the database securely and efficiently, even if they have limited resources. It has two layers: the authentication layer and the consensus layer, which are used with client requests and results. Finally, a comparison is made between the two blockchain databases, revealing that they share some characteristics such as immutability, low latency, permission, horizontal scalability, decentralization, and the same consensus protocol. However, they vary in terms of database type, concurrency mechanism, replication model, cost, and the usage of smart contracts.

Shallow landslide often occurs in areas of this topography where subsurface soil water flow paths give rise to excess pore-water pressures downslope. Recent hillslope hydrology studies have shown that subsurface topography has a strong impact in controlling the connectivity of saturated areas at the soil-bedrock interface. In this study, the physically based SHALSTAB model was used to evaluate the effects of three soil thicknesses (i.e. average soil layer, soil thickness to weathered soil and soil thickness to bedrock soil layer) and subsurface flow reflecting three soil thicknesses on shallow landslide prediction accuracy. Three digital elevation models (DEMs; i.e. ground surface, weathered surface and bedrock surface) and three soil thicknesses (average soil thickness, soil thickness to weathered rock and soil thickness to bedrock) at a small hillslope site in Jinbu, Kangwon Prefecture, eastern part of the Korean Peninsula, were considered. Each prediction result simulated with the SHALSTAB model was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis for modelling accuracy. The results of the ROC analysis for shallow landslide prediction using the ground surface DEM (GSTO), the weathered surface DEM and the bedrock surface DEM (BSTO) indicated that the prediction accuracy was higher using flow accumulation by the BSTO and weathered soil thickness compared to results. These results imply that 1) the effect of subsurface flow by BSTO on shallow landslide prediction especially could be larger than the effects of topography by GSTO, and 2) the effect of weathered soil thickness could be larger than the effects of average soil thickness and bedrock soil thickness on shallow landslide prediction. Therefore, we suggest that using BSTO dem and weathered soil layer can improve the accuracy of shallow landslide prediction, which should contribute to more accurately predicting shallow landslides.
