  • In the previous study on the effectiveness of SW education, the educational goals were mainly focused on developing computational thinking ability and researching changes in computational thinking ability. But the word "computational thinking" is difficult to the public. Also the definition of computational thinking is varies from scholar to scholar. Therefore, this study aims to inform the public of the excellence and effectiveness of SW education through the change of "writing ability" which is more familiar to us. To achieve this goal, 10 lectures of SW training materials were produced and conducted in elementary science gifted class. As a result, significant changes have been made in the fluency and quality of writing skills, proving that SW training improves students' writing skills. Through this, we confirmed the visible results through SW education, which can be called justification of SW education. Furthermore, it is expected that various educational attempts will be developed using SW in other subjects.

  • The purposes of present study were to investigate relationships among wife abuse, social support, coping styles, and quality of life, and to examine how abused wives' social support influences coping and quality of life. The subjects were consisted of 144 abused wives in Gwangju, Korea. The major findings are as follows; 1. Problem-focused coping and seeking of social support were different by the wife abuse. 2. Abused wives' quality of life was positively related monthly income, social support, problem-focused coping, and wishful thinking coping. 3. The results of the hierarchical regression analysis indicated that the social support had the strongest impact on abused wives' quality of life. And the problem-focused coping, monthly income, and emotion-focused coping. These variables accounted for 32% of variance of abused wives' quality of life.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of family-of-origin, personal and spousal characteristics, mediated by communication and problem-solving behavior, on marital quality and stability. On the basis of previous literature, the theoretical model was specified, estimated, and evaluated for adequacy of statistical fit for samples of 214 married women. Although the initial model was not supported by data, the revised model fitted the data adequately. Results of structural equation modeling indicated family-of-origin and communication behavior directly affected marital quality. However, the personal and spousal characteristics were linked with marital quality and stability only if they were mediated by communication and problemsolving behavior. Communication behavior was strongly related to marital quality and stability both directly and indirectly through problem-solving behavior. The model also showed marital quality can be an antecedent variable for marital stability. The findings of results is to generate more broad-minded thinking about how communication behavior, marital quality, and marital stability are interrelated.

  • Six Sigma has been adopted as a major improvement initiative by some leading Korean companies. The paradigm of how statistics is to be applied in business and industry has been challenged by Six Sigma. In this paper, Six Sigma initiative and its importance are stressed. Also statistical thinking plays a major role in Six Sigma. Therefore, its relationship with Six Sigma is explained. Next, various strategies for achieving Six Sigma are reviewed. Finally the strategy that GE takes for achieving Six Sigma is examined.

  • Many companies in Korea are paying close attention to Six Sigma to get better business results. And there are numerous success stories on the use of statistical methods in solving problems, improving processes and cutting costs. However, there are many cases in which statistical methods are misused or inappropriately applied. In this paper, the pitfalls to avoid in using statistical methods are discussed. Also the role of statistics in Six Sigma is examined.

  • While growing interest about university education and quality enhancement, learner's scholastic achievement, learning process, various of learning activity work variable performance of university education. In this context, for quality enhancement of engineering education, it is necessary to pay attention not only learning achievement, educational conditions and environment, but also how students learn. The purpose of this study is checking learning activity in class of Engineering college students and proposing teaching and learning support for promoting learning activity in class. The result of this study is engineering college students were participate in highly only activity is called to professor, but self-directed learning engagements was less than. Activity of promoted thinking about task execution implemented frequently, but activity of critical thinking and applied everyday life were less than. In class students cooperated with colleague learner actively, they had sincere attitude about class. Based on these results, in order to promote learning activity in class, it is necessary sufficient teaching-learning support for learner's self-directed learning and enhancing thinking skills.

  • Purpose: This study aims to investigate the effect of product creativity on the financial performance of new product in the food industry. In addition, the applicability of creative thinking method for the development of creative new food product is examined. Methods: In this study, OPA(Originality-Practicality Analysis) method is applied to evaluate the creativity of 32 new food products of 'H' food company in Korea. Effects of product creativity on the financial performance are analyzed using t-test and logistic regression analysis. In order to examine the applicability of SIT(Systematic Inventive Thinking) for the new product development process, each subject are classified according to five SIT tools. Results: The product group belongs to creative area(CA) shows the highest financial performance among the quadrants of OPA matrix. The products are divided into two groups whether the product can be classified by SIT tools or not. The products belonged to SIT group show higher creativity than non-SIT group. Conclusion: From the result, it can be concluded that product creativity has effect on the financial performance of the new food products, and SIT can be used as a powerful tool in developing creative new food products.

  • The purpose of this paper was to analyze a teacher's questioning in the learner-centered mathematics lessons and investigate its effects on the construction of learner's knowledge. For this study, it is analysed that the teacher's questioning in the 3 observed learner-centered lessons concerning elementary division topic. The study results showed that the characteristics of the teacher's questioning were respecting of learner's informal mathematical thinking, open-ended questioning for divergent thinking, appropriate questioning at every group, and respecting classroom norm. Teacher's questioning affects the quality of learner's mathematical thinking and his or her attitude toward mathematics.

  • Nowadays, automobile manufacturers are faced with increasing global competition which is required low cost as well as high quality. To reduce shipping and handling cost and delivery time, lots of automobile manufactures tried to build their new factory in the neighborhood of market. Simultaneously, many factories are under construction in developing countries to make efficient use of low-wage workers. However, because systems are installed in developing countries as the same type of domestic facilities, systems have lots of problems such as high installation cost and inefficient use of manpower. To find core problems and generate optimal solution of these problems, thinking process of TOC(Theory Of Constrains) is used. In case of transmission gear machining system, semi-auto system is proposed as the best solution to increase manpower efficiency and system utilization. Semi-auto system consists of automatic machining process and manual transporting process. The system layout is generated based on semi-auto process concept. And, 3D simulation method using QUEST is used to verify production volume of generated system.
