In order to understand rotation behavior of high strength steel endplate connections under fire, this study is compared with existing studies conducted using FEA program. Eurocode 3 presents the three failure modes according to the prediction of bending resistance moment. The parameters of analysis model are temperature, thickness and steel materials of endplate. The rotation stiffness, and bending resistance moment are analyzed according to the parameters. The change of rotation stiffness and bending resistance moment are analyzed about the parameters, regression equations are suggested the change of high strength steel endplate connections. Consequently, the regression equations were proposed as the linear and quadratic equation. The moment ratio of high strength steel under fire was more reduced than the carbon steel, and was small effect about the thickness. When the high strength steel under fire was compared with at ambient temperature, the slope of initial rotation stiffness reduced, the increment ratio of moment was slow, and the change of plastic rotation stiffness wasn't effect by the thickness increase.
The recently published and new results on design and fabrication of magnetophotonic crystals of different dimensionality are surveyed. Coupling of polarized light to 3D photonic crystals based on synthetic opals was studied in the case of low dielectric contrast. Transmissivity of opals was demonstrated to strongly depend on the propagation direction of light and its polarization. It was shown that in a vicinity of the frequency of a single Bragg resonance in a 3D photonic crystal the incident linearly polarized light excites inside the crystal the TE- and TM-eigen modes which passing through the crystal is influenced by Brags diffraction of electromagnetic field from different (hkl) sets of crystallographic planes. We also measured the faraday effect of opals immersed in a magneto-optically active liquid. It was shown that the behavior of the faraday rotation spectrum of the system of the opal sample and magneto-optically active liquid directly interrelates with transmittance anisotropy of the opal sample. The photonic band structure, transmittance and Faraday rotation of the light in three-dimensional magnetophotonic crystals of simple cubic and face centered cubic lattices formed from magneto-optically active spheres where studied by the layer Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker method. We found that a photonic band structure is most significantly altered by the magneto-optical activity of spheres for the high-symmetry directions where the degeneracies between TE and TM polarized modes for the corresponding non-magnetic photonic crystals exist. The significant enhancement of the Faraday rotation appears for these directions in the proximity of the band edges, because of the slowing down of the light. New approaches for one-dimensional magnetophotonic crystals fabrication optimized for the magneto-optical Faraday effect enhancement are proposed and realized. One-dimensional magnetophotonic crystals utilizing the second and the third photonic band gaps optimized for the Faraday effect enhancement have been successfully fabricated. Additionally, magnetophotonic crystals consist of a stack of ferrimagnetic Bi-substituted yttrium-iron garnet layers alternated with dielectric silicon oxide layers of the same optical thickness. High refractive index difference provides the strong spatial localization of the electromagnetic field with the wavelength corresponding to the long-wavelength edge of the photonic band gap.
Dicor has not been prescribed routinely, in spite of many advantages, because of esthetic limitations by excessive translucency and external shading. In an attempt to solve these problems, the technique of veneering Dicor by aluminous poreclain has been used and recently Dicor Plus system was developed. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the compatibility between Dicor and several veneering porcelains by measuring the shear bond strength and observing the failure mode and interface appearance with SEM. Total 55 Dicor disks(10.0mm diam. X 3.0mm thickness) were fabricated by lost wax technique and divided into five groups of 11. Veneering porcelains such as Dicor Plus, Vitadur Alpha, Vitadur N, Vivodent, and Ceramco II were built up over the center of the treated Dicor surface using paper tube(5.0mm diam. X 4.0mm height) and fired according to the manufacturesr’instructions. A representative sample from each group was completely embedded in epoxy resin and crosssectioned, and remaining 50 samples were embedded in epoxy resin with the bonded area perpendicular to table base. The shear bond strengths were measured by applying the shear load parallel to Dicor surface close to the bonded area. Failure modes and interface appearances were observed using SEM at 15 and 1000 magnification respectively. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The mean shear bond strengths showed Dicor-Dicor Plus(10.53 MPa); Dicor-Vitadur Alpha(8.84 MPa); Dicor-Vitadur N(7.37 MPa); Dicor-Vivodent(4.28 MPa); Dicor-Ceramco II(0.89 MPa). 2. The shear bond strength of Dicor-CeramcoII was significantly decreased compared with Dicor-Dicor Plus(p<0.01), but had no significant difference compared with Dicor-Vivodent(p>0.01). 3. The shear bond strengths of Dicor-Vitadur Alpha and Dicor-Vitadur N were not significantly different compared with Dicor-Dicor Plus(p>0.01). 4. SEM examination of bond failure modes revealed that Dicor-Dicor plus, Dicor-Vitadur Alpha, Dicor-Vitadur N exhibited cohesive failure within Dicor and Dicor-Vivodent exhibited adhesive failure. And Dicor-Ceramco III exhibited adhesive failure and cohesive failure within CeramcoIII together. 5. SEM examination of interfaces revealed that Dicor-Dicor Plus exhibited the most tight contact and Dicor-Vitadur Alpha, Dicor-Vitadur N exhibited acceptible contacts. But Vivodent exhibited discontinuous gap and Ceramco II exhibited large continuous gap.
A total of 36 carbon steel and stainless steel bolted connections subjected to shear loading at different strain rates was experimentally investigated. The connection specimens were fabricated from carbon steel grades 1.20 mm G500 and 1.90 mm G450, as well as cold-formed stainless steel types EN 1.4301 and EN 1.4162 with nominal thickness 1.50 mm. The connection tests were conducted by displacement control test method. The strain rates of 10 mm/min and 20 mm/min were used. Structural behaviour of the connection specimens tested at different strain rates was investigated in terms of ultimate load, elongation corresponding to ultimate load and failure mode. Generally, it is shown that the higher strain rate on the bolted connection specimens, the higher ultimate load was obtained. The ultimate loads were averagely 2-6% higher, while the corresponding elongations were averagely 8-9% higher for the test results obtained from the strain rate of 20 mm/min compared with those obtained from the lower strain rates (1.0 mm/min for carbon steel and 1.5 mm/min for stainless steel). The connection specimens were generally failed in plate bearing of the carbon steel and stainless steel. It is shown that increasing the strain rate up to 20 mm/min generally has no effect on the bearing failure mode of the carbon steel and stainless steel bolted connections. The test strengths and failure modes were compared with the results predicted by the bolted connection design rules in international design specifications, including the Australian/New Zealand Standard (AS/NZS4600 2018), Eurocode 3 - Part 1.3 (EC3-1.3 2006) and North American Specification (AISI S100 2016) for cold-formed carbon steel structures as well as the American Specification (ASCE 2002), AS/NZS4673 (2001) and Eurocode 3 - Part 1.4 (EC3-1.4 2015) for stainless steel structures. It is shown that the AS/NZS4600 (2018), EC3-1.3 (2006) and AISI S100 (2016) generally provide conservative predictions for the carbon steel bolted connections. Both the ASCE (2002) and the EC3-1.4 (2015) provide conservative predictions for the stainless steel bolted connections. The EC3-1.3 (2006) generally provided more accurate predictions of failure mode for carbon steel bolted connections than the AS/NZS4600 (2018) and the AISI S100 (2016). The failure modes of stainless steel bolted connections predicted by the EC3-1.4 (2015) are more consistent with the test results compared with those predicted by the ASCE (2002).

[ $Epoxy/BaTiO_3$ ] composite embedded capacitor films (ECFs) were newly designed fur high dielectric constant and low tolerance (less than ${\pm}15\%$) embedded capacitor fabrication for organic substrates. In terms of material formulation, ECFs are composed of specially formulated epoxy resin and latent curing agent, and in terms of coating process, a comma roll coating method is used for uniform film thickness in large area. Dielectric constant of $BaTiO_3\;&\;SrTiO_3$ composite ECF is measured with MIM capacitor at 100 kHz using LCR meter. Dielectric constant of $BaTiO_3$ ECF is bigger than that of $SrTiO_3$ ECF, and it is due to difference of permittivity of $BaTiO_3\;and\;SrTiO_3$ particles. Dielectric constant of $BaTiO_3\;&\;SrTiO_3$ ECF in high frequency range $(0.5\~10GHz)$ is measured using cavity resonance method. In order to estimate dielectric constant, the reflection coefficient is measured with a network analyzer. Dielectric constant is calculated by observing the frequencies of the resonant cavity modes. About both powders, calculated dielectric constants in this frequency range are about 3/4 of the dielectric constants at 1 MHz. This difference is due to the decrease of the dielectric constant of epoxy matrix. For $BaTiO_3$ ECF, there is the dielectric relaxation at $5\~9GHz$. It is due to changing of polarization mode of $BaTiO_3$ powder. In the case of $SrTiO_3$ ECF, there is no relaxation up to 10GHz. Alternative material for embedded capacitor fabrication is $epoxy/BaTiO_3$ composite embedded capacitor paste (ECP). It uses similar materials formulation like ECF and a screen printing method for film coating. The screen printing method has the advantage of forming capacitor partially in desired part. But the screen printing makes surface irregularity during mask peel-off, Surface flatness is significantly improved by adding some additives and by applying pressure during curing. As a result, dielectric layer with improved thickness uniformity is successfully demonstrated. Using $epoxy/BaTiO_3$ composite ECP, dielectric constant of 63 and specific capacitance of 5.1nF/cm2 were achieved.
There are physical and chemical method for removement of a lacquered layer existing on the surface when gilding an iron Buddha, these caused environmental pollution by surface degradation and is very noxious for conservation scientist's health. Thus, on this study, we conducted a lacquered layer removement experiments using Nd:YAG Laser which is contactless and eco-friendly. Specimens were made by polishing $5{\times}5$ size of iron(99.9%) specimens surfaces evenly and by differing of number of coating of unrefined lacquer, so there were thickness differences of $10{\mu}m$, $20{\mu}m$, and $30{\mu}m$. The laser machine used in this study was Nd:YAG Laser, and we used two wavelength modes; 1064 nm(160~180 mJ) for infrared light region and 532 nm(50~350 mJ) for ultraviolet light region. The experiment done by investigating the transition of specimens' surfaces with laser wavelength, energy, and numbers of investigation. The remain amount of lacquered layer surfaces before/after laser irradiation was investigated by stereoscopic microscope, observation by SEM, Non-contact Surface Roughness Measurement Device, and FT-IR etc. As a result of each analysis, we could verify the thickness of $10{\mu}m$, $20{\mu}m$ of lacquered layer removed without surface degradation when using 1064 nm wavelength with $1.0J/cm^2$ density. We could find out that Nd:YAG Laser is effective for removing remained lacquered layers when gilding an iron Buddha. In the future, when not only the metal has made various studies also wood lacquered furniture or the like, it seems to be utilized to remove the lacquer without surface damage.

In this paper, electromagnetic scattering by a perfectly conducting strip grating on dielectric multilayers is analyzed for the normalized reflected and transmitted power by applying the Fourier-Galeakin moment method. The induced current density is expanded in a series of multiplication of chebyshev polynomials of the first kind and functions with appropriate edge boundary condition, the continuous condition of electromagnetic field is applied in the boundary planes. The confirm the validity of the proposed method, the nor- malized reflected and transmitted power obtained by varying the relative permittivity and thickness of each dielectric layers are evaluated and compared with those of the existing numerical method and a paper, and then the numerical results in this paper are in good agreement with those of the existing numerical method and the paper. The sharp variation position in the geometrically normalized reflected and transmitted power can be moved by the incident angle, grating period, and the relative permittivity and thickness of the dielectric multilayers, these sharp variation points which are called the Wood's anomaly of the Geome- trically normalized reflected power are observed as a main factor when the reflected powers of the higher order mode are transitted between propagating and evanescent modes, and the local minimum positions are slightly moved to the left hand direction in which grating period is getting small according to the increase of the relative permittivity of dielectric layers.

Slot coating process, in continuous and patch modes, has been applied for the many precise coating products, e.g., flat panel displays and second batteries. However, manufacturing uniform coating products is not a trivial task at high-speed operations because various flow instabilities or defects such as leaking, bubbles, ribbing, and rivulets are frequently observed in this process. It is no wonder, therefore, that many efforts to understand the various aspects of dynamics and coating windows of this process have been made both in academia and industry. In this study, as the first topic, flow dynamics within the coating bead in slot coating process has been investigated using the one-dimensional viscocapillary model by lubrication approximation and two-dimensional model by Flow-3D software. Especially, operability windows in both 1D and 2D cases with various slot die lip designs have been successfully portrayed. Also, effects of process conditions like viscosity and coating gap size on slot coating window have been analyzed. Also, some experiments to find minimum coating thickness and coating windows have been conducted using slot die coater implemented with flow visualization device, corroborating the numerical results. As the second topic, flow dynamics of both Newtonian and Non-Newtonian fluids in patch or pattern slot coating process, which is employed in manufacturing IT products such as secondary batteries, has been investigated for the purpose of optimal process designs. As a matter of fact, the flow control in this system is more difficult than in continuous case because od its transient or time-dependent nature. The internal die and die lip designs for patterned uniform coating products have been obtained by controlling flow behaviors of coating liquids issuing from slot. Numerical simulations have been performed using Fluent and Flow-3D packages. Flow behavior and pressure distribution inside the slot die has been compared with various die internal shapes and geometries. In the coating bead region, efforts to reduce irregular coating defects in head and tail parts of one patterned coating unit have been tried by changing die lip shapes. It has been concluded that optimal die internal design gas been developed, guaranteeing uniform velocity distribution of both Newtonian and shear thinning fluids at the die exit. And also optimal die lip design has been established, providing the longer uniform coating layer thickness within one coating unit.

While the hydrogen refueling station is rapidly expanded and installed, the safety inspection of the hydrogen pressure vessel in the station should be very important. Of these, according to ASME, hydrogen embrittlement tests must be performed for hydrogen vessel that store hydrogen above a certain pressure. The main test method for hydrogen embrittlement inspection is to carry out fracture tests and fatigue fracture tests in a high pressure hydrogen atmosphere, which allows the durability limit of the pressure vessel to be measured and the endurable limit to be determined in the hydrogen atmosphere. In detail, the critical crack depth can be calculated by the stress intensity factor(K), and the service life can be determined by da/dN (fatigue growth rate). API579-1/ ASME FFS-1 part 9 exemplifies the calculation method according to the mode of crack-like flaws, but for various shapes such as plates and cylinders, there are about 55 modes according to the shape and location of the crack. Due to the fairly complex formula, it is not easily accessible. In this study, we will show you how to calculate fracture mechanics numerically via Excel and VBA. In addition, this was applied to analyze the effects of the thickness and inner diameter of the pressure vessel on the service life.
This paper presents the results from a systematic finite element study on the bending moment resisting capacity of double web-angle connection for a CFT(concrete filled tube) composite frame subjected to cyclic loading. The three-dimensional nonlinear finite element models are constructed to investigate the rotational stiffness, bending moment capacity, and failure modes of the partially restrained composite CFT connections. A wide scope of additional structural behaviors explain the different influences of the double web-angle connections parameters, such as the different thickness of connection angles and the gage distances of high strength steel connection bar. The moment-rotation angle relationships obtained statically from the finite element analysis are compared with those from Richard's theoretical equation.
