Investigations of Accelerated Aged Polymeric Insulators Using Partial Discharge Signal Measurement and Analysis

  • Reduction in pollution performance of polymeric insulators, aged due to water absorption stress and thermal stress, is a major threat to the reliable operation of power transmission and distribution system. Formation of partial discharges on the surface of wet polluted insulator plays a major role in determining the life time and pollution performance of outdoor polymeric insulators. However, reports on partial discharge characteristics of water absorption stress aged and thermal aged polymeric insulators are scanty. This paper discusses the pollution performance characteristics of accelerated aged polymeric insulators using the advanced ultra wide band PD signal measurement and analysis. Laboratory experiments on accelerated aged polymeric insulators were carried out as per IEC 60507 under AC voltage, at different humidity and contamination levels using NaCl as a contaminant. PRPD pattern and Time-Frequency map analysis of PD signals were carried out. From the results, it can be speculated that PD analysis is a well suited technique to understand the pollution performance of aged polymeric insulators.

점오염원의 대기오염방지시설 개선에 의한 대기질 영향 분석 (A Impact Analysis of Air Quality by Air Pollution Control Facilities Improvement on Point Source Pollution)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대표적 점오염원인 석탄화력발전소의 대기오염방지시설을 개선했을 때 최대 착지 농도 및 주변지역의 대기오염도 변화를 파악하는데 있다. 대기오염방지시설 개선 전 후의 대기질을 예측 비교하여 시설의 개선 효과가 어느 정도인지를 분석하였다. 대기질 예측에는 바람장의 변화를 Puff의 이동으로 나타낼 수 있고, 비정상 상태를 구현 할 수 있는 대기오염확산모델인 CALPUFF 모델을 이용하였다. 화력발전소의 주요 대기오염배출 물질인 아황산가스($SO_2$), 이산화질소($NO_2$), 먼지($PM_{10}$) 항목을 예측 항목으로 선정하였다. 연구결과 $SO_2$, $NO_2$ 항목은 대기오염방지시설 개선으로 인하여 최대 착지지점 및 주변지역의 대기질 오염도 감소에 상당히 효과가 있는 것으로 분석되었다. $PM_{10}$ 항목의 경우에는 최대 착지지점에서는 오염도 감소 효과가 높으나, 석탄 화력발전소 주변지역의 대기오염도 감소 효과는 다소 낮게 분석되었다.

Modification of DC Flashover Voltage at High Altitude on the Basis of Molecular Gas Dynamics

  • The effect of altitude on thermal conduction, surface temperature, and thermal radiation of partial arc was investigated on the basis of molecular gas dynamics to facilitate a deep understanding of the pollution surface discharge mechanism. The DC flashover model was consequently modified at high altitude. The validity of the modified DC flashover model proposed in this paper was proven through a comparison with the results of high-altitude simulation experiments and earlier models. Moreover, the modified model was found to be better than the earlier modified models in terms of forecasting the flashover voltage. Findings indicated that both the thermal conduction coefficient and the surface thermodynamics temperature of partial arc had a linear decrease tendency with the altitude increasing from 0 m to 3000 m, both of which dropped by approximately 30% and 3.6%, respectively. Meanwhile, the heat conduction and the heat radiation of partial arc both had a similar linear decrease of approximately 15%. The maximum error of DC pollution flashover voltage between the calculation value according to the modified model and the experimental value was within 6.6%, and the pollution flashover voltage exhibited a parabola downtrend with increasing of pollution.

  • The MAFSAP(Monitoring and Forecasting System of Air Pollution) was developed to measure the weather and air pollution data automatically, then make them input to microcomputer and analyze them for monitoring and forecasting air pollution at all times. And the air pollution telemetering systems installed at Young-Dong Thermal Power Plant was analyzed and an ideal telemetering system utilizing MAFSAP was suggested.

  • Commercially available fuel oil for power plant contains relatively much sulphur, which means accordingly high content sulphur deoxide in exhaust gas. Sulphur deoxide has been identified as the worst-pollutant caused by thermal power generation. This paper primarily deals with the stack gas diffusion effects of various parameters, namely vertical stability, wind velocity, exhaust gas velocity, stack height, etc., on the ground concentration. thereof the relation between stack height and maximum plant capacity is analyzed from the standpoint of air pollution prevention. The limit capacity is calculated by means of mean concentration introducing Mead and Lowry coefficient respectively.

서울특별시 25개 자치구의 열환경과 미세먼지 간 Granger 인과관계 (Granger Causality between Thermal Environment and PM10 of Seoul's 25 Districts)

  • Today's cities require deeper understanding of the thermal environment and PM10 as their management becomes more critical. Based on these circumstances, this study investigated the Granger causality between the thermal environment and PM10 of the 25 districts of Seoul, the most populous and urbanized city in Korea. The results of the Granger causality test on the thermal environment and PM10 were classified into 12 types. Except for type 12, the temperature and urban island heat intensity of the other 11 types operated as a Granger-cause to each other in both directions. Temperature operates as a Granger-cause of urban island heat intensity in type 12. The PM10 level and urban pollution island intensity operated as a Granger-cause to each other in all districts. For types 1 and 2, thermal environment operated as a Granger-cause to PM10 in one direction, and type 3-type 12 confirmed that thermal environment and PM10 operated as a Granger-cause in both directions. Findings reveal the intricate causalities between thermal environment and PM10 at the district level and suggest mitigation strategies that are more location based.

UAV 영상(RGB, 적외 열 영상)을 활용한 하천환경 모니터링 (Stream Environment Monitoring using UAV Images (RGB, Thermal Infrared))

  • 최근, 하천의 수질오염 및 악취발생으로 민원이 증가하여 하천환경개선에 큰 관심이 모아지고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 하수 유입부에 대해 무인항공기(UAV)를 활용하여 RGB 및 적외 열 영상을 획득하고 하천제방 정비 계획 및 하천 오염 현황의 모니터링을 위한 응용성을 검토하였다. 특히, 하천 인근 공장에서 배출되는 폐수를 적외 열 영상으로 검출하여 폐수의 전파를 모니터링하였다. 또한 하천 제방 정비대상 지역과 인근지역에 대한 RGB영상을 SfM(Structure from Motion)기반 영상 해석을 통해 고정밀 3차원 모형을 제작하고 정확성을 검토하였다. 연구결과, UAV영상을 활용, 폐수유입에 따른 하천의 온도변화를 감지하여 수질오염의 유입부 및 전파 현상을 모니터링 할 수 있었다. 또한 고정밀 3차원 모델(수치지형도, 정사영상)을 제작, 정확성을 검토하고 하천의 제방정비를 위한 정밀 3차원 정보 및 식생 피복정보를 도출할 수 있었다.

  • Recently, energy excessive consumption and environmental pollution are the social issued. The most efficient way to solve both energy excessive consumption and environmental pollution is existing combustion system improved. This study was part of the assume and commercial used existing waste heat recovery condensing boiler to low emission performance for exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) and thermal efficiency rise by applying the condensed water recirculation(CWR) conducted. The researchers applied the EGR and CWR develop a new concept for the condensed water recirculation waste heat recovery condensing boiler. Waste heat recovery condensing boiler applied to the condensed water recirculation thermal efficiency of the same conditions was increased by about 4.8~5.5% and pollution emission also decreased.

위성추적부이를 이용한 동중국해 상층 수온구조 관측 (Thermal Structure of the East China Sea Upper Layer Observed by a Satellite Tracked Drifter Experiment)

  • A satellite tracked drifter experiment was conducted to observe thermal structure and surface circulation in the northeastern East China Sea. For this experiment, four ADOS buoys, assembled with surface float and thermister chain, were deployed on August 2007 in southern Jeju-do, where the Kuroshio Branch Current is separated from the main stream. Thermal structure in the upper layer of the northeastern East China Sea was successfully observed during the following $1{\sim}3$ months. Strong thermo-haline front in a northeast-southwest direction was observed. In the frontal zone, warm and saline Kuroshio origin water intermixes with fresher coastal water and flows toward the Korean Strait. Typhoon Nari, which passed over the East China Sea 20 days after commencement of study, caused distinct signals in the thermal structure and trajectory of buoys. During the typhoon, surface temperature abruptly dropped to about $4^{\circ}C$, while the thermocline formed at $30{\sim}50$ m depth vanished due to strong vertical mixing. Internal inertial oscillation occurred several days after the typhoon. The fortuitous occurrence of typhoon Nari showed that ADOS buoys can provide useful and accurate air-sea interaction data during typhoons.

난방용 보일러에서 NG-H2 혼소율에 따른 열 및 공해 성능의 검토 (A Study on the Thermal and Pollution Performances of the Heating Boilers with NG-H2 Mixture Ratio)

  • Hydrogen is evaluated as one of the new energy sources that can overcome the limitations and pollution problems of conventional fossil fuels. Although hydrogen is CO2-free, attention is required in NOx emission and flame stability in order to use hydrogen in existing gas fuel system. However, use of electric grids is an unrealistic strategy for decarbonization for residential and commercial heating. Instead, use of H2 that utilizes city gas grid is suggested as a reasonable alternative in terms of compatibility with existing systems, economic feasibility, and accessibility. In this study, the thermal efficiency and NOx performance of the boiler according to the H2 mixture ratio and vapor humidified ratio are reviewed for a humidified NG-H2 boiler that vapor humidity to combustion air. Mixed fuel with H2 (20%) is almost similar to NG in terms of efficiency, flame temperature, and pollution performance. Thus, it is expected to be directly compatible with the existing NG system. If the exhaust temperature of the H2 boiler is lowered to around 60℃ at a humidified ratio of 15-20%, the NOx emission concentration can be suppressed to about 5-10 ppm. The level of efficiency reaches 87% of the rated load efficiency, which is equivalent to the highest grade achievable.
