The internal core material and external color of a sandwich panel have a significant impact on the performance of the sandwich panel. For use on roofs and walls, the internal core material and external color must be considered. Therefore, the surface and back side temperatures were measured for each exterior color and inner core material type. For the internal core materials, urethane foam and Expanded Poly Styrene(EPS), which are core materials mainly used in sandwich panels, were selected. As colors, black and ivory were selected according to brightness, and a total of five colors were selected: red, blue, and green, which are the three primary colors of light. As a result, there were differences in surface and temperature depending on the external color and type of internal core material. Regardless of the color, the temperature was measured lower for panels with urethane foam than for panels with an internal core of EPS. This is believed to have been influenced by the difference in thermal conductivity of urethane foam being 0.023W/(m·K) and that of EPS being 0.032W/(m·K). In addition, panels with a black exterior color were found to have higher surface and back temperatures than panels of other colors, and ivory-colored panels had lower back temperatures regardless of the core material. This is proportional to the brightness and light-absorbing characteristics.
The infrared and visible images are represented by different information due to the different wavelength of the light. The infrared image has thermal information and the visible image has texture information. Desirable results are obtained by fusing infrared and visible information. To enhance a visible image, we extract a weight map from a visible image using saturation, brightness. After that, the weight map is adjusted using thermal information in the infrared image. Finally, an enhanced image is resulted from combining an infrared image and a visible image. Our experiment results show that our proposed algorithm is working well to enhance the smoke in the original image.

A novel method for simultaneously measuring the fluid velocity and the large particle velocity in a particle-containing fluid flow is developed in this study. In this method, the fluid velocity and the large particle velocity are measured by PIV and PTV, respectively. The PIV and PTV images are obtained from the same flow images. Since a PIV result represents the average displacement of all particles in an interrogation area, it will include an error caused by the relative displacement between the large particles and the fluid. In order to reduce the false influence of large particles on the PIV calculation, the mean brightness of small PIV particle images is substituted to the locations of large particles in the PIV images. The simulation results showed that the new method significantly reduces the PIV error caused by the large particles even at the case where the large particles occupy area fraction as large as $20\%$ of the full image.

Laser carbonization of a polymer layer can be employed in various applications in the microelectronics industry, e.g repairing brightness pixels of an LCD panel. In this work, the process of thermal degradation of LCD color filter polymer by various laser sources with pulsewidths from CW to fs is studied. LCD pixels are irradiated by the lasers and the threshold irradiance of LCD color filter polymer carbonization is experimentally measured. In the numerical analysis, the transient temperature distribution is calculated and the number density of carbonization in the polymer layer is also estimated. It is shown that all the lasers can carbonize the polymer layers if the output power is adjusted to meet the thermal conditions for polymerization and that pulsed lasers can result in more uniform distribution of temperature and carbonization than the CW laser.

The key to determining the lifetime of OLED device is how much brightness can be maintained. It can be said that there are internal and external causes for the degradation of OLED devices. The most important cause of internal degradation is bonding and degradation in the excited state due to the electrochemical instability of organic materials. The structure of OLED modeled in this paper consists of a cathode layer, electron injection layer (EIL), electron transport layer (ETL), light emission layer, hole transport layer (HTL), hole injection layer (HIL), and anode layer on a glass substrate from top to bottom. It was confirmed that the temperature generated in OLED was distributed around the maximum of 343.15 K centered on the emission layer. It can be seen that the heat distribution generated in the presented OLED structure has an asymmetrically high temperature distribution toward the cathode, which is believed to be because the sizes of the cathode and positive electrode are asymmetric. Therefore, when designing OLED, it is believed that designing the structures of the cathode and anode electrodes as symmetrically as possible can ensure uniform heat distribution, maintain uniform luminance of OLED, and extend the lifetime. The thermal distribution of OLED was analyzed using the finite element method according to Comsol 5.2.
The brightness temperature from NOAA AVHRR CH 4 images was examined for the metropolitan Seoul area, the capital city of Korea, to detect the characteristics of the urban heat island for this study. Surface data from 21 meteorological stations were compared with the brightness temperatures Through computer enhancement techniques, more than 20 heat islands could be recognized in South Korea, with 1 km spatii resolution at a scale of 1: 200, 00O(Fig. 3, 4 and 6). The result of the analysis of AVHRR CH 4 images over the metropolitan Seoul area can be summerized as follows (1) The pattern of brightness temperature distribution in the metropolitan Seoul area shows a relatively strong temperature contrast between urban and rural areas. There is some indication of the warm brightness temperature zone characterrizing built-up area including CBD, densely populated residential district and industrial zone. The cool brightness temperature is asociaed with the major hills such as Bukhan-san, Nam-san and Kwanak-san or with the major water bodies such as Han-gang, and reservoirs. Although the influence of the river and reservoirs is obvious in the brightness temperauture, that of small-scaled land use features such as parks in the cities is not features such as parks in the cities is not apperent. (2) One can find a linerar relationshop between the brightenss temperature and air temperature for 10 major cities, where the difference between two variables is larger in big cities. Though the coefficient value is 0.82, one can estimate that factors of the heat islands can not be explained only by the size of the cities. The magnitude of the horizontal brightness temperature differences between urban and rural area is found to be greater than that of horizontal air temperature difference in Korea. (3) Also one can find the high heat island intensity in some smaller cities such as Changwon(won(Tu-r=9.0$^{\circ}$C) and Po-hang(Tu-r==7.1$^{\circ}$~)T. he industrial location quotient of Chang-won is the second in the country and Po-hang the third. (4) A comparision of the enhanced thermal infrared imageries in 1986 and 1989, with the map at a scale of 1:200, 000 for the meotropolitan Seoul area showes the extent of possible urbanization changes. In the last three years, the heat islands have been extended in area. zone characterrizing built-up area including (5) Although the overall data base is small, the data in Fig. 3 suggest that brightness tempeautre could ge utilized for the study on the heat island characteristics. Satellite observations are required to study and monitor the impact of urban heat island on the climate and environment on global scale. This type of remote sensing provides a meams of monitoring the growth of urban and suburban aeas and its impact on the environment.
A target for a high-brightness microfocus x-ray tube, which is based on carbon nanotubes (CNT) as electron source, is designed. The x-ray tube has the following specifications: brightness of $1\times10^{11}phs/s.mm^2. mrad^2$, spot size $\~5{\mu}m$, and average x-ray energy of $20\~40 keV$. In order to meet the specifications, the design parameters of the target, such as configuration, material, thickness of the target as well as the required beam current, were optimized using computer code MCNPX. The design parameters were determined from the calculation of both x-ray spectrum and intensity distribution for a transmission type configuration. For the thin transmission type target to withstand vacuum pressure and localized thermal loading, the structural stability and temperature distribution were also considered. The material of the target was selected as molybdenum(Mo) and the optimized thickness was $7.2{\mu}m$ to be backed by $150{\mu}m$ beryllium (Be). In addition, the calculations revealed that the maximum temperature of the transmission target can be maintained within the limits of stable operation.

In this paper, we propose a human detection technique using thermal imaging camera. The proposed method is useful at night or rainy weather where a visible light imaging cameras is not able to detect human activities. Under the observation that a human is usually brighter than the background in the thermal images, we estimate the preliminary human regions using the statistical confidence measures in the gray-level, brightness histogram. Afterwards, we applied Gaussian filtering and blob labeling techniques to remove the unwanted noise, and gather the scattered of the pixel distributions and the center of gravities of the blobs. In the final step, we exploit the aspect ratio and the area on the unified object region as well as a number of the principal components extracted from the object region images to determine if the detected object is a human. The experimental results show that the proposed method is effective in environments where visible light cameras are not applicable.

In this study, we investigated the possible use of a new inorganic material as alternative filler in the paper industry. The inorganic material is a mineral composed of calcium sulfate, that is generated when manufacturing phosphate fertilizer. The inorganic material was dehydrated by the thermal treatment to $200^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$, $700^{\circ}C$, and $900^{\circ}C$ to prepare white filler powders. Their basic properties, including color, particle shape, elements, and average particle size were identified. To determine the effect of new inorganic filler on paper's physical properties and strength, handsheets were prepared from HwBKP, SwBKP, and thermal treated inorganic fillers. Handsheets' ISO brightness, opacity, bulk, breaking length, and stiffness were measured. Results confirmed that thermal treated inorganic filler could be beneficial to the bulk and opacity of paper while maintaining higher level of breaking length and stiffness that is achieved using talc.

The phosphor and ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) films for video phone tube (VPT) were simply prepared by the screen printing and thermal transfer methods. The increasing order of thermal firing of acrylic binder for phosphor and ITO was M6003 < M6664 < A/A 1919 < M500l < M670 1 and all mass of binders were perfectly decomposed at lower temperature than $400^{\circ}C.$ After thermal firing of phosphor paste, the residual of binder on the surface of phosphor could not be found by SEM. Aerosil as thickner provides the thixotropy property for phosphor paste but decrease the brightness of phosphor screen as residual after thermal firing. Since the thixotropy of M5001 binder without aerosil was shown and the storage modulus of phosphor paste by increasing the angular frequency was not nearly changed and the decrease of the storage modulus of phosphor paste by increasing the strain was remarkably shown. It was possible to prepare the phosphor paste which was predominant in the plate separation and the reproduction of pattern after the screen printing. Since the addition of dispersing agent to improve the printing process decreases the electrical conductivity and light transmission of ITa film, it could be found to be necessary the development of binder for phosphor paste that decreases the amount of dispersing agent possibly and does not use the aerosil as additive.
