The purpose of this analysis is to investigate the effect of leading characters in picture books on self concept in children. For this study, we selected a total of 55 picture books, all of which were best sellers in four internet book stores. The method used for the study was based on content analysis. The results of this analysis were as follows: First, the gender of leading characters was male more often than female, and the majority of picture books were creative story books and translation books. Second, subordinate parts related to the self-concept were most frequently found in the social self-concept. Social self-concept was positively expressed through the relationship between friend and family characters in story books. Cognitive self-concept was the least. Third, when the frequency of positive and negative expressions in picture books was analyzed, the social self-concept was found to be positively expressed in the subordinate parts of relationships between friends and family. The social self-concept was negatively expressed, however, in the subordinate parts of relationship between non-significant others, and the emotional self-concept was also negatively expressed in the subordinate parts of the emotional recognition and expression. In summary. instances of cognitive self-concept and positive expression were found to be more significant than negative ones.

Experience on the construction of several 100-plus-story skyscrapers including Guangzhou West Tower, Guangzhou East Tower, and Shenzhen's KK100 is described considering the increasingly strong development trend of 100-plus-story skyscrapers in China. Difficulties in the construction of 100-plus-story skyscrapers are investigated. Four innovative construction technologies receive detailed descriptions: intelligently and entirely-jacked work platforms, formwork and suspension scaffolding systems ("jacking and formwork systems"), multi-function low-carbon concrete, 5D-BIM ("five-dimensional building information modeling"), and safe and rapid vertical transport, as they have found successful applications in actual projects. Popularized systematically as technical achievements, these technologies will significantly influence the construction of similar projects in the future, and produce more social and economic benefits.

This study focused on difference of the nation's concept between Ko un's Baekdusan and Lee uk's Gohyangsaramdul, Pungungi. These works are epics restructure nation's history. A epic's story provides framework of recognition to social members. An individual and community accept their story and then stories construct pesonal identity and community's identity. So we can say a epic configurates national identity by story nation history and nation territory. The nation's concept is understood steadfast and very pure as like a blood relationship in Korea. This is aspects of Korean nationalism. But the Nation is modern, social and historical concept. That is different from ethnic identity. This way throws open the door to analyze nation identity. Ko un's Baekdusan narrates permanence and sacralization of the nation for emphasizing the unification of North Korea and South Korea. Baekdusan expresses the social desire of Korea in the 1980s. In comparison, Lee uk's Gohyangsaramdul representate ambivalent attitude. One is a position as a settler and the other is a new master of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture. So Gohyangsaramdul narrates and remembers their motherland Chosun. But Pungungi exclude recognition of Chosun as motherland. This work's narration focuses on association with struggle of classes and anti-Japanese Movement during the Japanese colonial period. Because these events are able to unity Korean and Chines. Three works deal with same history and same background, but those show defferent recognition about the Nation. Because each society has different social desire and expect different future. The present desire and future prospect construct nation identity.

The essay attempts at a critical reading of Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge (1886) in terms of character and socio-cultural change. Juxtaposing the story of Michael Henchard's career with the social and economic changes in the agricultural town, it attempts to elaborate on the complex ways in which Hardy relates the old modes of life and thinking to the material culture. Though the novel is centered on the story of Henchard, the Henchard-Farfrae clash represents the conflict of "old" and "new" modes of socio-economic organization and consciousness. The story of the rustic man of character struggling with his contradictory traits of strong will-power and emotional collapse suggests that Hardy's literary representation of the rural community and the rustic protagonist is deeply rooted in historical reality. However, while there is the interlocking of the changes in personal fate and social change, the representation is a "reinvented" literary construction with complex mediation. Despite the narrator's emphasis on Henchard's immutability, peculiarity, and resilience, his character is, in a complex, mediated way, shaped by the material conditions of English rural community in the late 19th century. The mediating role of Elizabeth-Jane as a narrative resolution embodies Hardy's ambivalent historical position concerning the period undergoing change and conflict.

This paper focuses on a recently proposed asymmetric base-isolation coupling control system (ABiCS) for the vibration control of adjacent twin buildings. The ABiCS consists of inter-story diagonal dampers, a connecting damper between the two buildings, and a seismic isolation device at the base floor of one building. To investigate the control characteristics of ABiCS, a parametric study was performed by numerically simulating the 20-story twin buildings. In the parametric study, the control capacities of the inter-story diagonal dampers, connecting damper, and seismic isolation device were considered as varying parameters. The parametric study results indicate that the connecting damper between the two buildings reduces the responses of both buildings only at optimal or near-optimal capacity. In addition, adjusting the stiffness of the base isolation is found to be the most effective method for improving seismic performance and achieving cost-effectiveness. Accordingly, we presented a scenario-based performance improvement approach in which reducing the stiffness of the base isolation device could be an effective technique to improve the seismic performance of both buildings. However, note that checking the maximum allowable displacement of the base isolation device is essential.

As social media are emerging as essential communication channels for corporates in all areas, luxury jewelry brands have implemented enhanced strategies for brand story videos by creating brand channels on YouTube. In this study, a comparative analysis of the videos made available by Cartier and Tiffany&Co. on their YouTube Brand Channels was conducted, with the aim of identifying their strategic characteristics. The research method encompassed, both literature review and empirical investigations. A quantitative analysis was conducted by means of the 'HEART' model, a type of luxury jewelry brand story, and the following common strategic elements were identified. First, in their brand story videos both brands focus primarily on 'theme'. Second, 'relationship' and 'artisanship' are emphasized in addition to 'theme'. Third, the videos incorporate high level aesthetics to stimulate the fantasies and dreams of their audiences. The strategic differences between the brands are as follows. : First, 'artisanship' is given the greatest significance along with 'theme' in Cartier videos, while 'relationship' has prime significance in Tiffany&Co. videos. Second, a difference between a European approach and an American approach towards luxury brand building is evident, with Cartier hosting exhibitions while Tiffany&Co. provides gala videos instead.

I made an analysis on the case of Kakao Talk, which is Korean top mobile instant messaging service, to find the growth potential of Korean Social Network Service in the global market. First, I found that unlike the PC messenger services, Kakao Talk is not only unlimited in mobile IM service provider but also has evolving into a social network service firm. Second, attempts with a variety of social services such as photo-based Kakao Story and Marketing Platform for Mobile Game, Kakao Talk successfully landed as a SNS company. Third, with 'Plus Friends' Service, soon-to-be launched Avatar and App Market Service, Kakao Talk is evolving into social media and social platforms. The big success of Kakao Talk in Korean market is expanding and reproducing into Japanese and Southeast Asian markets through the 'Line' serviced by NHN. Line is applying the proven success stories of Kakao Talk to the Japanese and Southeast Asian markets. It means that Kakao and Line, both are mobile IM services, have raised the possibility of success in the global SNS market although online web-based SNS Cyworld has failed in the global market.

The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of 'activity program for effective storytelling' on the empathic ability and language teaching efficacy of a story grandmother. The subjects were 51 beautiful story grandmothers in Gangwon, Gyeongsangdo and Seoul. The research tools used the emotional empathy scale of Jeon(2003), and language teaching efficacy scale of Kim and Lee(2011). As for the research procedure, from March 06 to July 27, 2017, an 'activity program for effective storytelling' was conducted. For data analysis, a t-test of the corresponding sample was conducted to find the difference between the pre- and post-scores of the two variables. As a result of the study, first, the cognitive empathy ability between the story grandmother and the young children after applying the 'activity program for effective storytelling' was higher than that of the dictionary. Second, the language teaching efficacy between the story grandmother and the young children after applying the 'activity program for effective storytelling' was higher than that of the dictionary. Therefore, the 'activity program for effective storytelling' suggests that there is a positive effect on improving the cognitive empathic ability and language teaching efficacy of the story grandmothers.

In this study we recomposed the life story of Min Tatyana who is a Koryo-saram, or in other words, an ethnic Korean residing Kazakhstan. The life story of an overseas Korean, or Koryo-saram to be exact, includes in itself their multi-level identity which consists of the period of the immigration of Koryo-sarams, the special incident of deportation, as well as life as people of the Soviet Union and Kazakhstan, and life as a Korean race. In this study, we were confirmed the texture of the Korean race thought ordinary korean Min Tatyana life who living in Kazakhstan. The life story of Min Tatyana was reconstituted into two stories as "growing up in a multicultural society as Koryo-Saram" and "to live a life as the descendants of independence activist". She was born in historically region Kyzylorda, where living Korean groups and now she is living in Almaty, where living the many koreans ethnic groups of Kazakhstan. Also, her parents were respected to the local residents and her grandfather of husband was famous independent activist. These aspects have helped keep her Korean ethnic identity. The life story of Min Tatyana is personal story and qualitative text, which shows social, cultural background of korean ethnic who living in Kazakhstan. This study is expected to help to confirm the Koryo-Saram characteristics and aspect of their multilayer life.
