해운산업의 서비스품질에 관한 고찰 (A Study on the Service Quality for Shipping Industry)

  • Under the competitive environment of shipping industry, the improvement of the quality of shipping service could be one of the most important factors to be considered in the recent shipping industry. However, there has been little study on the clear concept of the service quality in the shipping so far. The subject of this study is to define the concept of the service quality in the shipping by way of making investigation into the related precedent literatures studied. The quality of service is recognized in general as a degree of gap between the customer's expectation and the perception. Therefore the service quality of shipping could be measured by evaluating the gaps between shipper's expectation and performance of shipping service. If the determinants of the service quality in the shipping are proved, and the discrepancies of expectations and perception between the shipping company and the shipper could be clarified, such a result would be an useful help to establish marketing strategy.

An empirical study was carried out to examine not only the determinants of shipping service quality but also ists implications to the service marketing strategy. The data investigating the deteminants of shipping service quality were collected from Korean Multimodal Company , Shipping Freight Forwarders. Exploratory Factor analysis was carried out to analyze the data.

How Shipping Company Satisfies Shippers Through Service Quality in South Korea: The Mediation Role of Trust

  • Purpose - This study aims to verify the direct causal relationship between cost competitiveness and global network competitiveness, which are the tangible service quality factors determined by the shipping company, which in turn affect the shipper's customer satisfaction. Additionally, we empirically investigate the intangible, related service qualities determined by shipping companies, such as operational competitiveness and customer relationship quality, and how these then positively affect customer satisfaction through the formation of trust. Therefore, we examine the mediating effect of trust formation among different contractors for shipping services. Design/methodology - In order to examine the shipping company's tangible and intangible service-qualities perceived by the shipper on customer satisfaction and the process of trust formation between contractors, we collected valid data from 114 respondents out of 200 distributed questionnaires. The respondents consisted of domestic freight forwarders who engage with domestic and international shipping and logistics agencies. Descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability, convergent and discriminant validities, common method bias, and PLS-SEM (partial least square-structural equation model) were analyzed using the program STATA 16. Findings - The findings of this study are as follows. First, our results showed that all hypotheses assumed in this study had statistically significant supporting evidence. Second, it was found that the mediating effect of trust was significant in affecting the quality of intangible service- qualities for customer satisfaction. Third, through supplementary analysis, we found that the global network competitiveness of domestic shipping companies will increase in importance in the future. In conclusion, the theoretical and practical implications of these findings are presented. Originality/value - This study reaffirmed the traditional causal relationship between customer satisfaction and tangible service quality. Additionally, we also contribute to the literature on the understanding of the causal relationship between trust formation and customer satisfaction through intangible interactions from a long-term perspective.

  • The importance of service quality in any service industry cannot be disputed. Shippers have increased expectations concerning the quality of shipping service they receive and carriers are struggling to meet these expectations. This struggle between shipper and carriers would suggest that there is room to improve much more understandings of how shipper define shipping service quality in the carriers' perspectives. This is an empirical investigation and study on the measurement of customer response and service quality as perceived by customer in the international transportation logistics system. The purpose of this study is to clarify factors of shipping service quality on the basis of service marketing concept. In order to fulfill the objectives, this paper combined research tools that include both empirical study and documentary research. Data was gathered from 132 freight forwarder by the use of questionnaire. In this study, the established hypotheses were generated on the basis of the service quality evaluation model(SERVQUAL, SERVPERF, and EP) and Gap model.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the nature of the relationship between several factors representing perceived port service quality and the adaptability to the marketing strategy of container terminal. An empirical study was carried out to examine not only the determinants of port service quality using PZB's SERVQUAL model but also its implications to the service marketing strategy. The data investigating the determinants of port service quality were collected from 136 managers from shipping companies by the use of questionnaire method. Factor analysis and t-test were carried out to analyze the data. The results of this study were as follows ; First, Shipping companies perceive the port service quality on two the dimensions of personnel and material aspects. Second, Shipping companies put more emphasis on the reliance of port service quality even though the port authority offers good facilities and materials as parts of port shipping quality. Third, There is a significant relationship between the purchase intention and the customer satisfaction. These findings help not only to formulate service marketing strategy based on service quality but also to be a concept tool to enhance port service quality.

  • ISO 9000시스템이 품질경영을 향한 출발점이 되기도 하지만, 품질경영의 기본 골격을 형성하므로 ISO 9000시스템의 성공이 품질경영의 성공과 밀접한 관계가 있다는 기존의 연구들의 개념을 바탕으로 ISO 9001:2000의 핵심요인을 품질경영활동요인으로 선정하였다. 그리고 서비스공급자인 해운기업의 지각을 중심으로 핵심요인과 해상운송서비스성과 간의 상관관계와 매개변수로서 내부고객만족과 고객지향성의 역할을 검정하였다. 이러한 설계는 품질경영활동을 실행하고 성과를 실현시키는 주체들이 각 핵심요인들과 성과에 관한 상관관계를 가장 잘 이해하고 있다는 인식에 기초를 둔 것이다. 본 연구의 실증분석 결과를 통해서 ISO 9000의 '경영책임', '자원관리', '서비스 및 제품실현'과 '측정, 분석 및 개선'의 네 가지 핵심요인이 내부고객만족, 고객지향성 및 서비스성과에 미치는 영향과 해운기업의 내부고객만족이 고객지향성과 어떠한 상관관계가 있는 가를 검정하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 해운기업이 품질경영활동을 전개하는데 있어서, 각 요인들의 중요성과 품질경영활동의 개선점을 파악하는데 중요한 시사점을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것이다.

  • This paper developes a multiple-item scale instrument (called SHIPQUAL which is designed to measure the quality of shipping industry. The procedures of developing instrument were followed by recommendations on the developing measures of marketing constructs. We divided shipping service quality into 4 demensions (reliability, conformability, timely/completness, safety) by empirical study. These demensions and scales were varified through the assessment of reliability and validity. Finally, we suggested potential applications of the scale into the shipping industry.

  • 이 연구에서는 갈수록 치열해지는 해운시장에서 차별적 전략의 일환으로 기업내부의 종사원을 내부고객으로 인식하고 외부고객만족을 위해 내부마케팅 실행요인을 강화함으로써 서비스품질을 향상시키고 이에 따라 고객만족도 향상될 것이라는 실증분석을 하기 위하여 서비스 제공자인 해운기업과 서비스 수요자인 화주기업을 대상으로 선행 연구들을 통한 문헌연구와 실증연구를 병행하였다. 문헌연구는 내부마케팅, 서비스품질, 고객만족 등에 관한 선행연구들을 중심으로 수행되었으며, 이를 토대로 해운기업에 적합한 개념들을 도출하고 측정도구를 개발하였다. 연구가설을 검정하기 위해 해운기업과 국제물류주선업체의 종사원을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 수집된 자료를 SPSS ver.12를 이용하여 각 요인들에 대한 신뢰성 및 타당성을 검정하고 구성개념들 간의 인과관계를 분석하기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 실증분석 결과 해운기업의 내부마케팅요인 중 교육훈련, 보상시스템, 권한위임은 해운기업 서비스품질에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 주요한 요인이며, 해운기업의 서비스품질은 고객인 화주의 만족에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 해운기업의 내부마케팅활동은 화주의 만족에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 해운기업의 종사원을 대상으로 업무에 대한 전문적 지식이나 새로운 기술 정보의 습득, 기업의 사명과 전략 및 환경을 이해할 수 있는 지속적이고 반복적인 교육훈련의 기회를 제공하며, 또한 우수한 인력관리와 기업을 위해서 바람직한 행동을 강화하고 권장하려는 동기부여를 위한 인센티브를 제공하고, 보다 고객지향적인 의사결정을 신속하게 할 수 있도록 재량권이 부여됨으로써 종사원 자신들의 직무에 대한 전반적인 만족을 증대시켜 한층 고객지향적인 사고와 태도를 형성하게 된다는 것을 보여준다. 그리고 화주가 지각하는 해운기업의 제반 서비스품질에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치며 나아가 해운기업의 고객만족도를 증가시킨다는 사실을 의미한다.

국제운송에서의 해운 서비스 품질에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Shipping Service Quality in International Carriage)

  • Sea transport industry is service industry and basic industry that permit efficient division of the human and material resources of industry. Also, owing to geographical situation which korea is having, utilization ratio of sea logistics industry is high than other transport ways. Sea transport industry chieves role that promote economy activity of other industry field as well as offer of transport way. Specially, because unit anger of freight by container is introduced, it was achived reduction of transport unit cost and mechanization of loading and unloading by this result. For efficeint connection of each other transport, contianer had offerd to large ship. Quality of service has much dimensions, and is considered while it is important that understand quality of service of sea transport industry through marketing and research of customer connection field because perceive of quality of serviceis different in shipowner/service viscount or shipper/freight owner. This research presented decision factors of sea transport quality of service which shipper and transport agent recognize under these background.
