Deployable structures are widely used for space mission because of their advantages in storage and transportation coming from its transformability of configuration. The space structures should be designed with high stiffness to withstand the various types of disturbance that they encounter during operation. Especially for the deployable structures, the internal forces loaded on the component or the stiffness at its deployed configuration should be analyzed since they usually consist of the thin and light structures. In this paper, a dynamic model of the scissors structure is established and its deployment behavior is analyzed, especially focusing on the deployment speed and the internal force on each joint. In addition, modal analysis is carried out for the 1-stage and 2-stage scissors structures in order to analyze the stiffness of the scissors structure based on its deployed configuration. The fundamental mode shapes and natural frequencies are analyzed and discussed.

Deployable structure is a system on which the study is being actively performed in various fields including architecture field. However, There is little study which can enhance the practicality since the interpretation condition is difficult as the unstable structure in the architecture field. In this study, the Scissors system has been focused on among the Deployable structure. The structure was developed using the Scissors system and the Mock-up test was performed. Through this, the unfolding method was proposed and the practicability was surveyed through the specific design of the Test model. Also, the structure stability was reviewed through structure analysis of Mock-up test model. and stabilizing method was proposed.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the difference in three dimensional tooth movement using three different wire sizes($0.018{\times}0.025-in,\;0.016{\times}0.022-in$ 0.016-in) on a NiTi scissors-bite corrector. Methods: Computed tomography(CT) images of the experimental model before and after tooth movement were taken and reconstructed into three dimensional models for superimposition. The direction and the amount of tooth movement were measured and analyzed statistically. Results: The lingual and intrusive movements of the crown of the maxillary second molar were increased as the size of the NiTi wire increased. The roots of the maxillary second metals moved buccally except for the 0.016-in group. The intrusive movement of the roots of the maxillary second molars was increased as the size of the NiTi wire increased. Due to the use of orthodontic mini-implants, anchorage loss was under 0.2 mm on average. Conclusions: The $0.018{\times}0.025-in$ NiTi wire was most effective in lingual and intrusive movement of the maxillary second molar which was in scissors-bite position. Indirect skeletal anchorage with a single orthodontic mini-implant was rigid enough to prevent anchorage loss.

Recently, natural disasters such as earthquake, tsunami, typhoon and tornado are increasing, and cause huge economical loses and victim. Thus, when the disaster occurs, it is important to prepare emergency evacuation shelters for fast and easy construction compared to general building system. And, deployable structures will provide a great help for such aim. Deployable structures have the great advantage of being faster and easier to erect and dismantle compared to conventional building forms. In this study, we confirm the possibility of deployment for shelter structures using scissor structure system. First, Basic model was performed to recognize the appllicability of the deployable systems of the dome-shaped structure. Second, Advanced model that more improved inner space and deployment mechanism was confirmed.

This paper introduces research on the hinge joint of modular structure joints using finite element analysis. The modular structure has a characteristic in that it is difficult to expect the integrity of columns and beams between unit modules because the construction is carried out such that the modules are stacked. However, the current modular design ignores these structural characteristics, considers the moment transmission for the lateral force, and analyzes it in the same manner as the existing steel structure. Moreover, to fasten the moment bonding, bolts are fastened outside and inside the module, resulting in an unreasonable situation in which the finish is added after assembly. To consider the characteristics that are difficult to expect, such as unity, a modular structure system using hinge joints was proposed. This paper proposed and reviewed the basic theory of joints by devising a modified scissors model that is modified from the scissors model used in other research to verify the transmission of load when changing from the existing moment junction to a hinge junction. Based on the basics, the results were verified by comparing them with Midas Gen, a structural analysis program. Additionally, the member strength and usability were reviewed by changing the modular structure designed as a moment joint to a hinge joint.

Hair styling has a significant influence on human social perception. An increasing number of people are learning hair styling and obtaining hair designer licenses. However, it takes a considerable amount of money and time to learn professional hairstyle and beauty techniques for hair styling. Since COVID-19, there has been a growing need for offline and video lectures due to the decline in onsite training opportunities. This study provides a field practice environment in which real hair beauty is performed in a virtual space. Further, the hairstyle that is most similar to the user's hair taken with a webcam or mobile phone is determined through an image matching system using the speeded up robust features (SURF) method. The matching hairstyle was created into a three-dimensional (3D) hair model. The created 3D hair model uses a head-mounted display (HMD) and a controller that enables finger tracking through mapping to reproduce the haircutting scissors' motion while providing a feeling of real hair beauty.
Several two-dimensional analytical beam column joint models with varying complexities have been proposed in quantifying joint flexibility during seismic vulnerability assessment of non-ductile reinforced concrete (RC) frames. Notable models are the single component rotational spring element and the super element joint model that can effectively capture the governing inelastic mechanisms under severe ground motions. Even though both models have been extensively calibrated and verified using quasi-static test of joint sub-assemblages, a comparative study of the inelastic seismic responses under nonlinear time history analysis (NTHA) of RC frames has not been thoroughly evaluated. This study employs three hypothetical case study RC frames subjected to increasing ground motion intensities to study their inherent variations. Results indicate that the super element joint model overestimates the transient drift ratio at the first story and becomes highly un-conservative by under-predicting the drift ratios at the roof level when compared to the single-component model and the conventional rigid joint assumption. In addition, between these story levels, a decline in the drift ratios is observed as the story level increased. However, from this limited study, there is no consistent evidence to suggest that care should be taken in selecting either a single or multi component joint model for seismic risk assessment of buildings when a global demand measure such as maximum inter-storey drift is employed in the seismic assessment framework.
Objectives : Vocal fold augmentation using injectable material is an easy and simple operation. This study is to evaluate the histology of minced and injected autologous auricular cartilage and fat graft in the augmentation of unilateral vocal fold paralysis using a canine model for two years. Study Design : A prospective study with the contralateral side of the larynx used as the control Methods : Twelve dogs were operated. At first, a piece of auricular cartilage was harvested from ear and minced into tiny chips with a scalpel and scissors. And also, a piece of fat tissue was harvested from inguinal area and minced into tiny chips with a scalpel and scissors. The minced cartilage and fat-paste (0.2ml) was injected using a pressure syringe into the paralyzed thyroarytenoid muscle under direct laryngoscopy. Two animals were sacrificed at 3 days, three at 3 weeks. two at 3 months. one at 6 months, one at 12 months, three at 24 months. Each dog underwent laryngectomy and serial coronal sections of paraffin blocks from the posterior part of the vocal fold were made. Result : There was no significant complication perioperatively and during follow-up. There was acute inflammatory findings in the graft at 3 days and 3 weeks. Only a very small proportion of the injected cartilage was absorbed due to the degenerative change and the overall volume was preserved even when the cells died out. The injected cartilage remained in the larynx until 24 months. Conclusion : The autologous cartilage implant using auricular cartilage was the ideal vocal cord augmentative material for the treatment of glottic incompetence.

Since its first demonstration as a practical genome editing tool in the early 2010s, the use of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR) along with the endonuclease Cas9 (CRISPR/Cas9) has become an essential choice for generating targeted mutations. Due to its relative simplicity and cost-effectiveness compared to other molecular scissors, i.e., zinc finger nuclease (ZFN) and transcription activator-like effector nuclease (TALEN), the CRISPR/Cas9 system has been shown to have a massive influence on genetic studies regardless of the biological kingdom. Although the system is in the process of being established, numerous protocols have already been released for the system and there have been various topics of CRISPR related papers published each year in ever-increasing manner. Here, we will briefly introduce CRISPR/Cas9 system and discuss the variants of the CRISPR system. Also, their applications to crop improvement will be dealt with mainly ornamental crops among horticultural crops other than Arabidopsis as a model plant. Finally, some issues on the barriers restraining the use of CRISPR system on floricultural crops, the prospect of CRISPR system as a DNA-free genome editing tool with efficient facilitators and finally, the future perspectives on the CRISPR system will be described.
