  • In this paper, we propose the improved method for retrieving images with DC element of DCT that is used in image compression such as JPEG/MPEG. The existing method retrieves images with DC of fixed block size DCT. In this method, the increase in the block size results in faster retrieving speed, but it lessens the accuracy. The decrease in the block size improves the accuracy, however, it degrades the retrieving speed. In order to solve this problem, the proposed method utilizes the variable block size DCT. This method first determines the existence of object regions within each block, and then creates an image region table. Based on this table, it determines the size of each block, following a simple rule; decrease the block size in the object regions, and increase the block size in the background regions. The proposed method using variable block size DCT improves about 15% in terms of the accuracy. Additionally, when there rarely exist images of same pattern, it is able to retrieve faster only by comparing the image region patterns.

  • Recently, a social issue has arisen involving RDDoS attacks following the sending of threatening emails to security administrators of companies and institutions. According to a report published by the Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT, survey results indicate that DDoS attacks are increasing. However, the top response in the survey highlighted the difficulty in countering DDoS attacks due to issues related to security personnel and costs. In responding to DDoS attacks, administrators typically detect anomalies through traffic monitoring, utilizing security equipment and programs to identify and block attacks. They also respond by employing DDoS mitigation solutions offered by external security firms. However, a challenge arises from the initial failure in early response to DDoS attacks, leading to frequent use of detection and mitigation measures. This issue, compounded by increased costs, poses a problem in effectively countering DDoS attacks. In this paper, we propose a system that creates detection rules, periodically collects traffic using mail detection and IDS, notifies administrators when rules match, and Based on predefined threshold, we use IPS to block traffic or DDoS mitigation. In the absence of DDoS mitigation, the system sends urgent notifications to administrators and suggests that you apply for and use of a cyber shelter or DDoS mitigation. Based on this, the implementation showed that network traffic was reduced from 400 Mbps to 100 Mbps, enabling DDoS response. Additionally, due to the time and expense involved in modifying detection and blocking rules, it is anticipated that future research could address cost-saving through reduced usage of DDoS mitigation by utilizing artificial intelligence for rule creation and modification, or by generating rules in new ways.

  • This paper deals with the tradition and identity of physical expression(${\bar{a}}{\dot{n}}gika$ abhinaya) system in Indian traditional theatre and dance. The ${\bar{a}}{\dot{n}}gika$ abhinaya of Indian dance and theatre has been stylized through long terms and thereby defines their identity and peculiarity by its highly stylized expression techniques while following dramatic way($n{\bar{a}}tya$-dharmi). The ${\bar{a}}{\dot{n}}gika$ abhinaya is said to had been derived from the ritualistic practice of ancient Vedic period(B.C. 15th-B.C. 5th c.), which is most clearly exemplified in hand gesture(hasta mudra). In $N{\bar{a}}tya$ ${\acute{S}}astra$, ${\bar{a}}{\dot{n}}gika$ abhinaya is explained in detail. It is classified broadly into facial expression(mukhaja abhinaya), gesture expression(śārīra abhinaya), movement expression($cest{\bar{a}}krita$ abhinaya). Further, $N{\bar{a}}tya$ ${\acute{S}}astra$ divides their various usages by parts which include head, glance, eyes, nose, eyelid, cheek, lower lip, chin, mouth, hand, chest, waist, belly, hip. thigh, claf, foot. Besides, it explains diverse ways of foot movement($c{\bar{a}}ri$), standing poses(sthana), gait(gati) and their combined movements(mandala). Many forms of Indian traditional theatre and dance basically follows the rule of ${\bar{a}}{\dot{n}}gika$ abhinaya proposed in $N{\bar{a}}tya$ ${\acute{S}}astra$, which identifies their unique characteristics.

  • Gorham-Stout syndrome is a rare bone disorder characterized by progressive massive osteolysis and proliferation of vascular and lymphatic vessels. A 15-year-old boy was initially diagnosed with Gorham-Stout at the age of 8 years based on clinical and radiological findings. Following diagnosis, he was treated with pamidronate, interferon alfa, propranolol, oral corticosteroids, and sirolimus. He developed proteinuria at the age of 15 and progressed into the nephrotic range 2 years later. A renal biopsy revealed focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, not otherwise specified variant. The sequential increase in proteinuria associated with medications suggested that the focal segmental glomerulosclerosis may be caused by pamidronate and sirolimus, but cannot completely rule out the possibility of kidney involvement of GSS itself.

  • Koreans were started moving to Yunhaju in Russia for escaping from tyrannical rule and famine in 1860's in Korea. Social and political situation of Russia were made it very hard to get to know about Korean's life there so far. But it was known that Korean Diaspora has been kept traditional way of living in without contacts between Korea for 140 years. This study examined the dwellings of Korean Diaspora in Yunhaju through reviewing related documents and records firstly and had a time to visit places which Koreans lived since 1860's for example Posyet(equation omitted), Suifen(equation omitted), Ussuriisk(equation omitted), Vladivostok(equation omitted), Partizansk(equation omitted) and took interviews with Koreans who lived there pre 1930's. Results of research were as following : 1) A first place to settle down for Koreans in Yunhaju was Posye(equation omitted) and scattered as time goes by far away from there. 2) Koreans were helping each other for living and they had their own self managing organizations in village there. 3) The villages which was made in Yunhaju by Koreans in the beginning were similar to traditional ones in Korea. 4) It was verified that dwellings which was built by Koreans in Yunhaju were similar to ones in north area in Korea. At that time lots of Korean Diaspora came from north part and they kept their own traditional way of building houses there for a long time. 5) Korean Diaspora have been kept traditional heating system ‘Ondol’ in their various types of houses until now in Yunhaju. Moreover, it is known that Russians prefer to set ‘Ondol’ in their houses recently as a very special and expensive heating system. This study would be a very good opportunity to standing out Korean history of housing in Yunhaju as well as evaluating their identification as Koreans. For this, it is needed to take more deep research in specific areas which could see more various types of housing and could compare ones between two countries.

  • Pediatrics in Geumwon(金元) age had fanned peculiar children's etiology, Byeonggihak(病機學) and Byeonjeungnon(辦證論) curative system grounded on medical theory in Geumwonsadaega(金元四大家). Yuwanso(劉完素), who was front-running man in that age, used so many times 'Yanggyeoksan(凉隔散)' or 'Bangpungtongseongsan(防風通聖散)' which have Hanryang(寒凉) disposition for curing children's disease in view of pathology in Yeoldahanso(熱多寒少), which is his special academic thought, after then Judangye(朱丹溪) succeed Yuwanso(劉完素)'s this view of pathology, Yang-eumjahyeol(養陰滋血) developed the one and made it a standing rule to cure children. Also Idongwon(李東垣) grasped that the main cause of disease is starvation because of war. As a result of it, he insisted on theory, internal cause's outbreak of person's illness, Naesangbiwi(內傷脾胃), Baekbyeong-yusaeng(百病由牛). In this view of this principle, he assorted and used following medicine 'Seungma(升麻), Siho(柴胡), Hwanggi' as 'Seungbalyanggi(升發陽氣)' method to cure children, and concentrated on children's spleen and stomach cure with this way. Jangjongjeong(張從政) applied 'Purgation therapy[攻下法]', Hantoha(汗吐下) centered on the theory of exogenous factors[外因說] , which explains that children's disease is Sagichimseup(邪氣侵襲), too. Like this, in Geumwon(金元) age, they had studied very seriously about main cause of children' s disease in two part, an internal cause and an external cause. Also, in pathological part they had approached academically 'Hwayeolchibyeong(火熱致病)' and 'Gigiseunggangsiljo(氣機乘降失調)' from diverse angles.

  • In this paper, I would like to explore the possibility that the nature of place assimilation can be captured in terms of the OCP within the Optimality Theory (Mccarthy & Prince 1999. 1995; Prince & Smolensky 1993). In derivational models, each assimilatory process would be expressed through a different autosegmental rule. However, what any such model misses is a clear generalization that all of those processes have the effect of avoiding a configuration in which two consonantal place nodes are adjacent across a syllable boundary, as illustrated in (1):(equation omitted) In a derivational model, it is a coincidence that across languages there are changes that have the result of modifying a structure of the form (1a) into the other structure that does not have adjacent consonantal place nodes (1b). OT allows us to express this effect through a constraint given in (2) that forbids adjacent place nodes: (2) OCP(PL): Adjacent place nodes are prohibited. At this point, then, a question arises as to how consonantal and vocalic place nodes are formally distinguished in the output for the purpose of applying the OCP(PL). Besides, the OCP(PL) would affect equally complex onsets and codas as well as coda-onset clusters in languages that have them such as English. To remedy this problem, following Mccarthy (1994), I assume that the canonical markedness constraint is a prohibition defined over no more than two segments, $\alpha$ and $\beta$: that is, $^{*}\{{\alpha, {\;}{\beta{\}$ with appropriate conditions imposed on $\alpha$ and $\beta$. I propose the OCP(PL) again in the following format (3) OCP(PL) (table omitted) $\alpha$ and $\beta$ are the target and the trigger of place assimilation, respectively. The '*' is a reminder that, in this format, constraints specify negative targets or prohibited configurations. Any structure matching the specifications is in violation of this constraint. Now, in correspondence terms, the meaning of the OCP(PL) is this: the constraint is violated if a consonantal place $\alpha$ is immediately followed by a consonantal place $\bebt$ in surface. One advantage of this format is that the OCP(PL) would also be invoked in dealing with place assimilation within complex coda (e.g., sink [si(equation omitted)k]): we can make the constraint scan the consonantal clusters only, excluding any intervening vowels. Finally, the onset clusters typically do not undergo place assimilation. I propose that the onsets be protected by certain constraint which ensures that the coda, not the onset loses the place feature.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand students' thinking process in the algebra problem solving, on the base of the works of Vinner(1997a, 1997b). Thus, two middle school students were evaluated in this case study to examine how they think to solve algebra word problems. The following question was considered to analyze the thinking process from the similarity-based perspective by focusing on the process of solving algebra word problems; What is the relationship between similarity and the characteristics of thinking process at the time of successful and unsuccessful problem solving? The following results were obtained by analyzing the success or failure in problem solving based on the characteristics of thinking process and similarity composition. Successful problem solving can be based on pseudo-analytical thought and analytical thought. The former is the rule applied in the process of applying closed formulas that is constructed structural similarity not related with the situations described in the text. The latter means that control and correction occurred in all stages of problem solution. The knowledge needed for solutions was applied with the formulation of open-end formulas that is constructed structural similarity in which memory and modification with the related principles or concepts. In conclusion, the student's perception on the principles involved in a solution is very important in solving algebraic word problems.

  • Farming activity was the second cause of forest fire following the carelessness. In this study, 74 forest fires caused by farming activity and waste burning in 2009 was investigated for analyzing ignition patterns. The main cause to bring about forest fire was the farming waste burning as 25 cases, burning of farming waste matter after product and household waste burning were the second causes as 19 cases. Landcovers which transfer flame from ignition point to forest were fallow field graveyard, field fruit farm, field levee fallow field. The average distance between ignition point and forest sleeve was 19 m, and the maximum distance was 130 m. The probability of forest fire ignition was high in the 100 m buffer zone from the forest sleeve that is the prohibition rule of fire use for forest fire prevention at the forest fire season.

  • This paper proposes new methods and examples for improving fraud detection rules based on banking customer's transaction behaviors focused on anomaly detection method. This study investigates real example that FDS(Fraud Detection System) regards fraudulent transaction as legitimate transaction and figures out fraudulent types and transaction patterns. To understanding the cases that FDS regard legitimate transaction as fraudulent transaction, it investigates all transactions that requied additional authentications or outbound call. We infered additional facts to refine detection rules in progress of outbound calling and applied to existing detection rules to improve. The main results of this study is the following: (a) Type I error is decreased (b) Type II errors are also decreased. The major contribution of this paper is the improvement of effectiveness in detecting fraudulent transaction using transaction behaviors and providing a continuous method that elevate fraud detection rules.
