A Study on the Double-Wall Greenhouse Filled with Styrene Pellets (입자충전형 이중벽 온실에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to develope the automatic insulation system which control inside temperature of the greenhouse. For this purpose, the double- wall greenhouse and system which could automatically supply and discharge styrene pellets were constructed and abrasion of the pellets, blower ability, insulating property, transmittance and shading effect were analyzed by the experiments. The results obtained from this study can be summarized as follows : 1. It took an hour and fifteen minutes to supply and discharge about 2㎥ pellets in the experimental greenhouse. However, it is possible to reduce the operation time by proper selection of the blower and exhaust port, and by proper control of the supply and return pipe. 2. It was founded that the indirect delivery way was more profitable than the direct one in the supply and return of pellets. 3. When the transmittance was measured between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., the average light transmissivity rate was 67%. 4. In winter nighttime, the inside temperature of the double- wall greenhouse with out the pellets was higher than the outside temperature by 3.4$^{\circ}C$ on an average. However, the inside temperature of the double - wall greenhouse with insulated area 73% was higher than the outside by one 6.6$^{\circ}C$ on an average, and the inside temperature of the greenhouse with insulated area 100% was higher than outside one by 13.5$^{\circ}C$ on an average. Therefore, it was proved that the insulating ability of the double - wall greenhouse in nighttime was excellent. 5. When the outside temperature was 36.9$^{\circ}C$ on an average, the inside temperature of the double- wail greenhouse with insulated area 100% was 3$0^{\circ}C$ on an average. As the inside temperature was lower than the outside one by 7$^{\circ}C$ on an average, we could know that the shading effects of the double- wall greenhouse were excellent in summer daytime.

Studies on the Packaging and Preservation of Kimchi (우리나라 김치의 포장과 저장방법에 관한 연구)

  • Studies were carried out to develope the most economical and practical methods of packaging and preservation of kimchi, so commercialization of kimchi manufacture could proceed rapidly. The results obtained may be summarized as following. (1) It is generally established that the acceptable range of lactic acid content of kimchi is between 0.4% and 0.75%. Based on sensory evaluation, kimchi having lactic acid content below 0.4% and above 0.75% was not edible, and the time of optimum taste corresponded to the vicinity of 0.5% of lactic acid content. For the refrigeration storage with or without preservatives, the packaging kimchi in plastic film must be done at the lactic acid content of 0.45%, for lactic acid fermentation will continue slowly after the packaging. However, for the heat sterilized kimchi the packaging should be done at the 0.5% of lactic acid content for the best because lactic acid fermentation is completely stopped after the packaging. (2) Polyethylene, polypropylene, and polycello were chosen as suitable packaging materials. Polyethylene is cheapest among them but kimchi packaged in this film was damaged frequently in handling process and gave off kimchi flavor. On the other hand polypropylene also gave off kimchi flavor, but its higher mechanical strength gave better protection to kimchi and it had superior display effect due to the transparancy. Therefore polypropylene made much better packaging material. Polycello proved to be the best packaging material from the standpoint of physical characteristics but its price is higher than that of other plastic films. To be effective, the thickness of plastic films for packaging kimchi must exceed 0.08mm. (3) Keeping property of kimchi appeared to be excellent by means of freezing. However, by the time the frozen kimchi was thawed out at room temperature, moisture loss due to drip was extensive, rendering the kimchi too stringy. (4) Preservation of kimchi at refrigerated temperatures proved to be the best method and under the refrigerated condition the kimchi remained fresh as long as 3 months. The best results were obtained when kimchi was held at $0^{\circ}C$. (5) In general, preservatives alone were not too elective in preserving kimchi. Among them potassium sorbate appeared to be most effective with the four fold extension of self-life at $20^{\circ}C$ and two fold extension at $30^{\circ}C$. (6) In heat sterilization the thickness of packaged kimchi product had a geat effect upon the rate of heat penetration. When the thickness ranged from 1.5 to 1.8cm, the kimchi in such package could be sterilized at $65^{\circ}C$ for 20 minutes. Kimchi so heat treated could be kept at room temperature as long as one month without apparent changes in quality. (7) Among combination methods, preservation at refrigerated and heat sterilization could be favorably combined. When kimchi was stored at $4^{\circ}C$ after being sterilized at $65^{\circ}C$ for 20 minutes, it was possible to preserve the kimchi for more than 4 months.

Characteristics of Silk Sericin Extracted from Sericinjam

  • We investigated sericin extracted from sericinjam, which was inbred at National Academy of Agricultural Science, Suwon, Korea. Sericinjam sericin is composed of 5 fractions: 250 kDa, 120 kDa, 90 kDa, 70 kDa and 40 kDa. Amino acid analysis showed that the major amino acids of sericinjam sericin were Ser, Gly, Asp, Glu, Thr and Ala. Infrared spectra showed that sericinjam sericin has $\beta$-sheet structure. Thermal property of sericin was investigated using DSC and then they showed characteristic degradation peak at around $215{\sim}240^{\circ}C$.

  • 고온형 SOFC의 개발에 있어 스택의 신뢰성을 확보하는데 가장 중요한 핵심기술은 스택 구성요소 사이를 접합하는데 필요한 고온형 밀봉재의 개발이다. SOFC 스택에서의 밀봉재는 고체전해질과 접속자 사이에서 음극에 공급되는 연료가스와 양극에 공급되는 공기가 서로 혼합되는 것을 방지하는 역할은 물론 기계적으로 취약한 단전지의 보호 및 스택전체 구조물의 구조적 일체성(Structural integrity)을 부여하는데 주목적이 있다. 현재 기체 기밀성을 유지하기 위한 밀봉재는 크게 유리 및 결정화 유리계, mica및 mica/유리복합재료, 유리/충전재 복합재료 등이 사용되고 있으나 다수의 단위전지로 구성되는 스택 구성에서 스택의 열기계적 안정성 및 장기수명을 보장하기 위해서는 본 연구에서 개발하고자 하는 복합밀봉재가 가장 적합할 것으로 예상되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 $SiO_2-B_2O_3-RO$계에 BaO, SrO를 일정비율로 첨가하여 제작된 유리 frit을 열처리하여 물리화학적 물성변화를 검토하였으며, $700^{\circ}C$ 이하의 연화점을 갖는 유리를 기지상으로 하고 세라믹 보강재를 첨가한 고온형 복합밀봉재를 개발하고 그 물리화학적 안정성, 열기계적 안정성 및 밀봉 특성을 평가하였다.

  • Piezoelectric properties of sintered specimen having a tetragonal phase of $Pb_{0.9888}Sr_{0.012}(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_{3}$ were comparatively studied with two different poling methodes, i.e., DC field and corona discharge technique. Internal stress of poled specimens by indentation fracture toughness was analyzed to evaluate degradation phenomenon. As the results, it was confirmed that corona discharge poling technique is practicable and has merits such as low-temperature poling, slow degradation and no electric breakdown comparing to DC field poling. However, corona discharge technique showed lower Kp value than DC field poling.

  • Convenient method for determination of egg white foaming properties was suggested. Highly reproducible results were obtained when 70g egg white was whipped at 1,200 rpm for 2 min. Using standardized testing method, foaming capacity and stability of egg white samples including fresh egg white, freeze-dried egg white and commercial egg white powder were effectively differentiated. Foaming capacity of egg white was not affected during storage of fresh egg white up to 4 weeks at $4^{\circ}C$, whereas foaming stability significantly decreased after 2 weeks of storage.

  • Structured lipid (SL) was synthesized by enzymatic interesterification of algae oil and corn oil in stirred tank batch reactor, The reaction, performed for 15hr at $65^{\circ}C$, was catalyzed by sn-1,3-specific lipase RM IM from Rhizonucor miehei without organic solvent. DHA, oleic acid, and linoleic acid contents of SL were 14.9, 17.3, and 31.8 mol%, respectively. ${\alpha}-,\;{\gamma}-,\;and\;{\delta}-tocopherol$ contents and physiochemical property of SL were evaluated. During 15 hr reaction, most reaction occurred within 6 hr, and highest relative production rate was observed between 3 to 6 hr.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 에틸렌이민 유도체를 갖는 아조계 분산 염료의 폴리에스테르 섬유에의 응용과 최적화된 폴리에스테르 염색 조건의 확립이다. 이들 아지리디닐 염료는 구조가 유사하며 말단에 하이드록시기를 갖는 염료(아지리디닐 염료의 가수분해 형태)와 비교하여 최대 흡수 파장의 천색적으로 천이 됨을 알 수 있었다. 세가지 아지리디닐 모노 아조 염료와 이들 염료의 가수분해 된 형태 그리고 디메틸아니린계 아조 염료의 폴리에스테르 섬유에 대한 염색 및 견뢰도 성질이 조사되었다. 아지리디닐 아조 염료는 산성 조건에서보다 염기성 조건하에서 보다 안정하였고, 뛰어난 build-up이 높은 pH조건에서 얻어졌으며, 폴리에스테르 염색 시 130$^{\circ}C$, pH 10의 조건에서 최적화된 색상 강도를 얻었다. 아지리디닐 염료는 이 염료의 가수분해 형태와 디메틸아닐린 염료와 비교하여 개선된 세탁 견뢰도를나타내었고 이는 용매 추출을 이용하여 확인 하였다. 아지리디닐 아조 염료는 역시 광 련뢰도에서도 또한 상용화된 분산 염료에 비교하여 높은 결과를 나타내었다.

Effect of the Heat Treatment on the Mechanical Property and Corrosion Resistance of CU - 7Al - 2.5Si Alloy (Cu-7Al-2.5Si 합금의 기계적 및 내식특성에 미치는 열처리 효과)

  • Recently, the fuel oil of diesel engines of marine ships has been increasingly changed to heavy oil of low quality as the oil price is getting higher and higher. Therefore, the spiral gear attached at the motor of the oil purifier which plays an important role to purify the heavy oil is also easy to expose at severe environmental condition due to the purification of the heavy oil in higher temperature. Thus, the material of the spiral gear requires a better mechanical strength, wear and corrosion resistance. In this study, the heat treatment(tempering) with various holding time at temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ was carried out to the alloy of Cu-7Al-2.5Si as centrifugal casting, and the properties of both hardness and corrosion resistance with and without heat treatment were investigated with observation of the microstructure and with electrochemical methods, such as measurement of corrosion potential, cathodic and anodic polarization curves, cyclic voltammogram, and a.c. impedance. in natural seawater solution. The ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}^{\prime}$ and ${\gamma}_2$ phases were observed in the material in spite of no heat treatment due to quenching effect of a spin mold. However, their phases, that is, ${\beta}^{\prime}$ and ${\gamma}_2$ phases decreased gradually with increasing the holding time at a constant temperature of $500^{\circ}C$. The hardness more or less decreased with heat treatment, however its corrosion resistance was improved with the heat treatment. Furthermore, the longer holding time, the better corrosion resistance. In addition, when the holding time was 48hrs, its corrosion current density showed the lowest value. The pattern of corroded surface was nearly similar to that of the pitting corrosion, and this morphology was greatly observed in the case of no heat treatment. It is considered that ${\gamma}_2$ phase at the grain boundary was corroded preferentially as an anode. However, the pattern of general corrosion exhibited increasingly due to decreasing the ${\gamma}_2$ phase with heat treatment. Consequently, it is suggested that the corrosion resistance of Cu-7Al-2.5Si alloy can be improved with the heat treatment as a holding time for 48 hrs at $500^{\circ}C$.
