Wild Image Object Detection using a Pretrained Convolutional Neural Network

  • This paper reports a machine learning approach for image object detection. Object detection and localization in a wild image, such as a STL-10 image dataset, is very difficult to implement using the traditional computer vision method. A convolutional neural network is a good approach for such wild image object detection. This paper presents an object detection application using a convolutional neural network with pretrained feature vector. This is a very simple and well organized hierarchical object abstraction model.

  • Semantic video object extraction is important for tracking meaningful objects in video and object-based video coding. We propose a fast semiautomatic video object extraction algorithm which combines a watershed segmentation schemes and chamfer distance transform. Initial object boundaries in the first frame are defined by a human before the tracking, and fast video object tracking can be achieved by tracking only motion-detected regions in a video frame. Experimental results shows that the boundaries of tracking video object arc close to real video object boundaries and the proposed algorithm is promising in terms of speed.

  • An energy-efficient object matching accelerator is proposed for mobile object recognition based on matching prediction scheme. Conventionally, vocabulary tree has been used to save the external memory bandwidth in object matching process but involved massive internal memory transactions to examine each object in a database. In this paper, a novel object matching accelerator is proposed based on matching predictions to reduce unnecessary internal memory transactions by mitigating non-target object examinations, thereby improving the energy-efficiency. Experimental results show a 26% reduction in power-delay product compared to the prior art.

Artificial Neural Network for Stable Robotic Grasping (안정적 로봇 파지를 위한 인공신경망)

  • The optimal grasping point of the object varies depending on the shape of the object, such as the weight, the material, the grasping contact with the robot hand, and the grasping force. In order to derive the optimal grasping points for each object by a three fingered robot hand, optimal point and posture have been derived based on the geometry of the object and the hand using the artificial neural network. The optimal grasping cost function has been derived by constructing the cost function based on the probability density function of the normal distribution. Considering the characteristics of the object and the robot hand, the optimum height and width have been set to grasp the object by the robot hand. The resultant force between the contact area of the robot finger and the object has been estimated from the grasping force of the robot finger and the gravitational force of the object. In addition to these, the geometrical and gravitational center points of the object have been considered in obtaining the optimum grasping position of the robot finger and the object using the artificial neural network. To show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, the friction cone for the stable grasping operation has been modeled through the grasping experiments.

An Approach to 3D Object Localization Based on Monocular Vision

  • Reconstruction of 3D objects from a single view image is generally an ill-posed problem because of the projection distortion. A monocular vision based 3D object localization method is proposed in this paper, which approximates an object on the ground to a simple bounding solid and works automatically without any prior information about the object. A spherical or cylindrical object determined based on a circularity measure is approximated to a bounding cylinder, while the other general free-shaped objects to a bounding box or a bounding cylinder appropriately. For a general object, its silhouette on the ground is first computed by back-projecting its projected image in image plane onto the ground plane and then a base rectangle on the ground is determined by using the intuition that touched parts of the object on the ground should appear at lower part of the silhouette. The base rectangle is adjusted and extended until a derived bounding box from it can enclose the general object sufficiently. Height of the bounding box is also determined enough to enclose the general object. When the general object looks like a round-shaped object, a bounding cylinder that encloses the bounding box minimally is selected instead of the bounding box. A bounding solid can be utilized to localize a 3D object on the ground and to roughly estimate its volume. Usefulness of our approach is presented with experimental results on real image objects and limitations of our approach are discussed.

Recently, face recognition technology is evolving into an intelligent object recognition through image recognition technology, detection technology, the detection object recognition through image recognition processing techniques applied technology is applied to the IP camera through the 3D image object recognition technology Face Recognition been actively studied. In this paper, we first look at the essential human factor, technical factors and trends about the technology of the human object recognition based SPFACS(Smile Progress Facial Action Coding System)study measures the smile detection technology recognizes multi-faceted object recognition. Study Method: 1)Human cognitive skills necessary to analyze the 3D object imaging system was designed. 2)3D object recognition, face detection parameter identification and optimal measurement method using the AAM algorithm inside the proposals and 3)Face recognition objects (Face recognition Technology) to apply the result to the recognition of the person's teeth area detecting expression recognition demonstrated by the effect of extracting the feature points.

  • Nowadays software developers are moving from conventional software process technologies to the object-oriented paradigm. To develope the object-oriented softwares efficiently, various software metrics have been suggested. Coupling refers to the degree of independence between components of the system. It has long been well known that good software practice calls for minimizing coupling interaction. Many researches have been studied coupling metrics of the object- oriented systems. We review Chidamber and Kemerer's work & Li's work. In this paper, we study the coupling of the overall structures of object-oriented systems by analyzing the class diagram of UML. We propose four coupling metrics for object-oriented softwares. First, we use an established coupling metric for object- oriented systems as a basic coupling metric. Then we modify the basic coupling metric by including indirect coupling between classes, We also suggest two relative coupling metrics to measure coupling between subsystems. We investigate the theoretical soundness of the proposed metrics by the axioms of Briand et al. Finally, we apply the presented metrics to a practical case study. This coupling metric will be helpful to the software developers for their designing tasks by evaluating the coupling metric of the structures of object-oriented system and redesigning tasks of the system.

OnBoard Vision Based Object Tracking Control Stabilization Using PID Controller

  • In this paper, we propose a simple and effective vision-based tracking controller design for autonomous object tracking using multicopter. The multicopter based automatic tracking system usually unstable when the object moved so the tracking process can't define the object position location exactly that means when the object moves, the system can't track object suddenly along to the direction of objects movement. The system will always looking for the object from the first point or its home position. In this paper, PID control used to improve the stability of tracking system, so that the result object tracking became more stable than before, it can be seen from error of tracking. A computer vision and control strategy is applied to detect a diverse set of moving objects on Raspberry Pi based platform and Software defined PID controller design to control Yaw, Throttle, Pitch of the multicopter in real time. Finally based series of experiment results and concluded that the PID control make the tracking system become more stable in real time.

  • The applications developing in distributed object computing enviroments are faced with the difficulties for managing various lots of distributed objects. Also, because the most multimedia service, like video, audio, and so forth, must be satisfied itself with real-time constraints, the users also are feeling with necessary to apply real-time mechanisms to distributed multimedia services. The goal of this paper is to solve the problems for managing distributed objects, and to be easy to develop complex applications that can provide real-time services. To do this, we designed and implemented a real-time object group platform that can be placed between applications and CORBA. This platform is extended the existing object group model[13,14] added to the scheduler and timer object components for supporting real-time concept. We designed the components for platform by using James Rumbaugh object modeling technology that consists of object, function, and dynamic model. And then we described the detailed interfaces of the components by IDL, and implemented our real-time object group's platform using OrbixMT 22 which is the IONA Technologies' ORB product. Finally, we showed the execution procedures of the schduler object of each components in a real-time object group platform.

  • In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of ObjectPeerWork, which is a framework for the development of shared object model-based P2P(Peer-to-Peer) applications. The shared object model can prevent the computing power decrease on the way of resource management by incorporating the resource management function into resources themselves, and raise reliability on shared resources by improving the security problems. Also this model assures expandability by means of distributed component-based request broker manager and module container. The ObjectPeerWork based on this shared object model is a framework which makes the implementation of the enterprise information system possible, and makes distribution of the computing power and efficient resource management possible by improving the weakness in the general P2P model.
