The objective of this study is to contemplate both the formation and the aesthetic characteristics of the ballerina look represented in modern fashion by analyzing a ballet costume. The results of this study could be summarized as the following: the ballerina look is formed by ballet costume itself with being stick to or exposing human body line, or by casual dress mixed with a ballet costume; the materials consist of both the major materials for a ballet costume such as silk, chiffon, tulle, lace, or organza, and the usual materials for casual dress: a variety of color such as transparent, pastel etc. is also used with typically used colors like white and black: decoration is basically composed of ruffle, drape, gather and the distinctive accessory like toe shoes, ribbon tape, ankle warmer is used to show a feature of a ballet costume These formative characteristics of the ballerina look presented in modern fashion implies illusory, pure, and hybridity. traits. First, illusion of the ballerina look not only implicitly expresses a womans wish to experience a ballerina's fantastic world, but also recreates woman herself into a ballerina on a stage. Second, purity of the ballerina look makes design look feminine and smooth, which is expressed with girlish taste through materials and colors. Third, hybridity of the ballerina look suggests a standard of a new trend, which is active style, by adding comfortableness and flexibleness to romantic femininity.

In the 21st century, fashion design trend is focused on 'retro'. 'Retro' is the one of the important trends in this century. In the rapidly changing present, the more people want to find a clue to the hope and happiness from the past nostalgia. Reflecting such people's desire, retro fashion has boomed again from 2000 as one of powerful trends. This research conforms the meaning of retro fashion and characteristic of retro fashion design. And through this processing, it was find that retro fashion design had lost century retro romantic fahion image. Therefore, in this research, the processing about development of retro dress design of retro romantic fashion image was showed by using CAD. The results of this study are as followings. First, Retro fashion is worth the high value of good producr of new and creative for consumers who pursuit tranquil mood in the midist of dailly change Second, Nostalgia and revival of style for each 10 years after 1920's is well brought out in Retro trend of modernt fashion. Also decorative and elegant style are marked by retro romantic fashion mood. Third, fashion design using the computer graphics was presented by application retro romatic image. It is mixed with elegance and modernity based on retro feeling, It is suggested that computer graphics was effectively used in fashion design development to the newly romantic and modern style through 1950'-1960'intimate retro fashion image.

When a person was suffered from vocal cord paralysis or glottic insufficiency, injection materials (e.g Teflon, Bovine collagen, Autologous fat & tendon, Gelfoam) into the vocal cord have been widely used. But each injection material has some disadvantage. We introduce the Restylane which is composed of a hyaluronic acid, artificially producted. It has advantage of rate foreign body reaction, proper endurance, easy to injection. The patient was 55-year-old woman who showed left vacal cord paralysis after pneumonectomy due to aspergillosis, taken the type I thyroplasty and arytenoid adduction. The middle portion of left vocal cord has some atropic mucosal change, slight chink was noted. The restylane injection into vocal cord was done with suspension laryngoscopy under general anesthesia. In the 3 month follow-up after Restylane injection, the quality of voice has been better progressively. We report a case of Restylane injection as a new method for the improvement of quality of voice.

The earlier notion of feminism regarding gender equality was changed into that of Postfeminism because of gender differences. The idea of Postfeminism has been present since the 1980s but has been influenced by modern culture theories such as Postmodernism, Poststructuralism, Theory of Power and Discourse and Psychoanalysis. Various features of Postfeminism are found in the medieval warrior images of contemporary fashion. Warrior costumes were men's exclusive property in the medieval ages, but as it is introduced as women's wear in the 21st century, it shows us new fashion images which are constructed by gender deconstruction, differences and pastiche. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to examine a key characteristic of Postfeminism fashion. An article described the historical costumes of medieval warriors and refocused on the development processes of feminism and then conducted an analysis on formative characteristics and Postfeminism tendencies in contemporary women's wear from 2000 to 2011. The results were that materials such as metallic and flexible materials, monotonic and red colors and detailed patterns of armor were used to display forms of exaggeration and restraint. These elements fully and correctly expressed the image of a medieval warrior woman in contemporary fashion. Postfeminism fashion is constructed with feminine power, gendered identity, sensual elegance and a postmodern body. Postfeminism is the contemporary cultural icon and is continuously influencing modern fashion design in the 21st century in a positive and powerful way.

Most previous studies on A Gesture Life focused on illuminating the role and significance of Kkutaeh, the Korean comfort woman, whom Hata runs across at a military camp in the Burmese jungle. For instance, Carroll Hamilton argues that the return of Kkutaeh as a traumatic subject disrupts Hata's nationalist narrative, causing the protagonist's eventual failure at national enfranchisement. However, this paper focuses on Hata's relationship with Bedley Run, the sleepy suburban white town, in which the protagonist settles down right after immigration to the US. The racial/racist nature of Bedley Run has not received due critical attention, although a few studies on the novel saw Hata's gestures as a survival tactic deployed against the hostile environment of his new host society. This paper, resorting to Pierre Macherey's thesis on symptomatic reading, exposes what Hata, the narrator/protagonist, hides from his readers concerning his status in his muchbeloved town; and it also explores the subversive significance of Hata's ethnic memories. The aim of this study is, after all, to map both the subversive possibilities and the limitations of Hata's immigrant narrative as a bildungsroman.

The purpose of this thesis is to discuss corsets that represent an undergarment that later became a popular outerwear. It discusses its forms and distinct characteristics to help create a unique fashion design and its execution. The scope of this study is limited to works from the 1990s to the present, and the materials for the literatures and exploratory study are fashion-related portfolios and the domestic and foreign fashion magazines. The results of this study are summarized as follows: The standard look of corsets in modern fashion can be classified into styles of glamour, revival, and dismantle. The materials used vary from traditional fabrics such as satin or lace to newly developed materials such as metal or glass. Its presentation can also differ in that it may be used as an accessory with additional details, as an outerwear, as an extra decorative layer, or as a revealing innerwear by open outerwear. Characteristics of these various looks of corsets are; first, it redefines the revival of the traditional corsets through introduction of its historic elements and its compromise. Second, glamorous and feminine images are maximized through drastic and direct exposure by using tight lacing, a waist nipper or garter belts that emphasize a woman's curve. Third, it represents borderless dismantlement through experimental and irregular images using unconventional materials, new execution techniques, or alteration from the standard forms.

The existence of primary branchiogenic carcinoma is controversial. In 1950, Martin et al. established four criteria for the diagnosis of primary branchiogenic carcinoma. In 1989, Khafif et al. proposed new modified criteria, which are currently most recognized in the literature. A 54-year-old woman presented the well-defined, fluctuant, painless mass on her left neck and underwent a complete excision under the clinical diagnosis of the branchial cleft cyst. The initial pathological impression was a branchiogenic squamous cell carcinoma. However, it did not coincide with a true primary branchiogenic carcinoma clinically. After the guided biopsy of suspicious areas found a squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue base, the patient was treated by combination chemotherapy with radiotherapy. Thus, we report this case with a review of the literature.

We describe a case that showed augmention of the superficial temporal artery [STA] pedicle's patency 15 months after extracranial to intracranial [EC-IC] bypass surgery for a carotid artery occlusion with contralateral intracranial internal carotid artery stenosis. It is rare that meager patency of the STA pedicle in the early postoperative angiogram can be become well augmented with time where most branches of the middle cerebral artery [MCA] are robustly filled with blood from the STA. A 28-year-old woman with a history of a previous left hemispheric stroke presented with slurred speech after several bouts of seizure. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a new infarct on the right hemisphere in addition to an old infarct on the left hemisphere. Carotid angiography revealed stenosis of the right carotid siphon and occlusion of the left carotid artery. The patient underwent EC-IC bypass on the right side. Even though the early postoperative angiogram showed meager filling of MCA with no significant stenotic lesion change, a subsequent angiogram taken 15 months later, demonstrated a widely patent STA pedicle with occlusion of the previous intracranial stenotic lesion. Selected cases with an inaccessible intracranial stenotic lesion can benefit from EC-IC bypass surgery; however, its clear indication should first be established.

An empirical formula that has been empirically shown to be effective for a particular condition can be said to add medical materials to an exciting formula or to make a new prescription by Korean medical doctors' empirical clinic. This dissertation aims to study the prescriptions according to A Confidential Document of A Distinguished Medical Family and to contribute to the development of Korean medicine. A Confidential Document of A Distinguished Medical Family is a medicinal recipe that is an heirloom of the Gyeongju Kim family for the eighth generation. And the date and the writer of the book are unknown. The contents of the book consist of 18 parts and are made up of about 300 medical recipes. Of these, 153 formulas and indications of roundworm, cholera, puffy swelling, abdominal distension, phlegm-rheum, woman, child, summerheat, dryness-heat, eye, and blood are found in the book. From among these, 26 formulas are directly quoted out of The Precious Mirror of Oriental Medicine, 93 formulas are adjusted in proportion or combined and 34 formulas are empirical ones. By the parity of reasoning of the above, I think that this book was published after The Precious Mirror of Oriental Medicine.

Under the social conditions that an understanding of a men change socially and men's interests in their appearances are on the increase, this research intends to study and analyze the changes of people's sensibility of values on ads for men's cosmetics, which is said to be performed the social, cultural function reflecting the social consciousness, the value and the idea creating a new one. The documents for the research was sindonga. The ad showed that they've changed making a difference according to the times. In 1970s, it expressed a man for cleanness and modernity living in urbanized and modernized society. On the other hand, it expressed a man who won success socially and enjoyed a comfortable life in a dignified manner, or a man who was fond of sports leisure activity pursuing a clam and composed life and was interested in the skin and an appearance in 1980s. From 1990 to 2002, it expressed a man of challengeable manly beauty having a strong will toward social achievement, or a man who has a sweet manly beauty with sex appeal to a woman. Besides, it expressed a man who is soft, faithful and affectionate with a liberal and peaceful atmosphere as well.
