With the development of VR technology, the visual immersion of VR games has been greatly enhanced nowadays. There has been an issue that has been troubling players in previous VR games, which is motion sickness. Therefore, VR games have been limited in terms of game mechanics, game duration, and game scale, greatly reducing the immersive experience of visual immersion. However, <Half-Life: Alyx> is different from previous VR games in that players can actually perform spatial displacement in the game scene, rather than being fixed in one place for 360-degree observation and interaction. At the same time, compared to traditional games, VR games no longer need to rely on screens, and the complete visual immersion enhances the fun and playability of the game. This research focuses on the VR game <Half-Life: Alyx> to explore its immersive factors in terms of visual perception. Through in-depth analysis of elements such as color, texture mapping, lighting, etc. in VR games, it was found that the game creates a strong sense of visual immersion in these aspects. Through analysis, it is helpful to gain a deeper understanding of the factors that contribute to visual immersion in VR games, which has certain reference value for game developers and related professionals.
This paper discusses the shaping of game culture and the socio-cultural functions of game-making events based on co-production ideation by meta-analysis. Research has shown that the experience in this event helps to reshape the perception of the game culture, which eventually will lead to the extended meanings of game culture. It can also be seen that the game-making event serves as an educational platform for building the next generation competencies.
This study examined how the use of co-game play, which implies specific behavioral condition, changes the influence and direction of the sensation seeking, gender, and identity stability, which are predictors on game addiction. The results of this study are as follows. First, sensation seeking had no significant effect on game addiction. However, the main effect of co-play on game addiction was confirmed. Second, the moderating effects of gender on co-play and game addiction were significant. It indicates that co-play has a greater impact on game addiction in female than male.
Game business has been successfully developed in the world including Korea. Among the many functions, interactivity is the key issue in the state-of-the art gaming system and the success of Nintendo Wii is the example. However, in spite of this success, it is hard to find out the research of the gaming interactivity, for instance what kinds of outcomes are followed by the interactivity. Therefore, the aim of this research tries to disclose the influence of perceived gaming interactivity on various psychological states such as mood, vicarious experience, and vicarious pleasure. The results show that all those factors are influenced by interactivity.

Reinforcement learning is a well-known method for training an artificial software agent for a video game. Even though many reinforcement learning algorithms have been proposed, their performance was varies depending on an application area. This paper compares the performance of the algorithms when we train our reinforcement learning agent for a 2D racing game. We defined performance metrics to analyze the results and plotted them into various graphs. As a result, we found ACER (Actor Critic with Experience Replay) achieved the best rewards than other algorithms. There was 157% gap between ACER and the worst algorithm.

Many game designers suggested that if players got many objective performance, they could have a fun experience while playing the MMORPG. Does a quantity of objective performance lead to player's fun experience in the MMORPG? According to the Equity Theory, the reason of players getting fun experience is not only that players get reasonable objective performances as many as efforts of theirs but also that amount of their objective performances were same as others. This study analysed that the equity of objective performances would have an effect on the player's fun experience. The results were that the equity of objective performances produced an effect on the players' behavioral intention, flow experience, and cognitive performance. Hence if game designers want that players are interested in the online game playing, they have to support the equity of objective performance to players.
This research was conducted to find out determinant variables which can influence the degree of flow in smoking simulation game. We set up flow experience as a dependent variable. Several factors including empathy, health concern, and brainwave(${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$) EEG(Electroencephalogram) as a physiological indicator, which was expected to affect flow, were set up as independent variables to perform regression analysis. As a result, empathy, health consciousness, and ${\beta}$ wave had positive influences on flow in smoking simulation game but ${\alpha}$ wave had negative effect. This research empirically analyzed users' experience and neurophysiological changes which can influence on flow in serious game and contributed to theoretical and methodological development in health-related game research.
The interrelation between abusive game designers and players are revealed and considered as one of the game arts by Miguel Sicart. This study is based on the frame analysis of Ervin Goffman. The player centered game design, in the case of a digital game, is penetrated into the frame, and player's experience and game frame at the same level can be assumed as positive down-keying. Conversely, confusion of the game is experienced by the players and perceptions about the games are required. The term of Miguel Sicart, generated the abusive game design in the view of the game art, considers both common game and design of the game, respectively. Nevertheless, the abusive game design refreshes the reflections of players in a game and presents possibilities of bridging the designs of standard games through the techniques and devices.
This research was conducted in an attempt to understand changes and growths of the self in on-line game world. Q methodology was used to investigate players in Mabinogi, which is an on-line game(MMORPG). Based on 57 behavior statements, Players distributed their changing experiences from when they were novices in on-line game world to the current state. In early start phase, they recognized that on-line game world was different from the reality. And they perceived their experiences in on-line game as separated from the real ones. However, as they spend more time in on-line game world, they began to realized that on-line game world is as real as the world because they function as an individual living in a society in both the game and the real world. They felt and learned that in on-line game life, they also need to follow the rules and order. In addition, trust and politeness were essential in order to live with other players. As time passed, the players realized that on-line game experiences have the same meanings and values as the real life ones. 3 types of self-changing patterns were found : Achievement change, Control change, and Relation change. The behavior patterns of the 3 types were then compared to Identify similarities and differences amongst them in psychological meanings and values in the on-line game life. This result illustrates that on-line game world can be defined as new behavioral setting or developmental context established by digital technology. In this new setting, people can experiment and understand their behavior patterns and also experience changes and growths of the self.
