This paper discusses of the problem of direction and orientation of site design of a traditional Korean village. The research focus on how the directional orientation of each houses adapt the direction of the flow of surrounding mountains. The direction of mountains worked as a prime rule which most of the houses( 76.6%) observed the same direction as their own orientation. While the central part of the village followed the direction of mountains more strictly, however the houses on the periphery area tend to be more free from the direction of mountains. This houses of the periphery respect either the direction of the mountain flow right behind the house or faces toward the south.

This study is about the co-relationship between the directional orientation of the houses and the geometric direction in the Korean traditional villages. The major mountain in the back of the village and the front mountain ranges give the most important influence for the direction of the houses. This paper, therefore, tries to identify how the houses of villages facing South-west direct the orientation. The village, where the natural environment face the South-west village, solves the problem by facing major direction rather than one all direction. All houses observe and respect the circumstance of geomantic surrounding to the extant that almost no houses revise its direction without any geomantic reference. This kind of research let us know the relationship between the natural direction, the direction of geomantic surrounding, and the direction of houses in traditional Korean villages.

The location of villages differs by position, and the method to form the conditions of location varies greatly. This study has comprehensively investigated village layout in the riverside and directional relations in houses. With changes in riverside landscape and transition to an agriculture-oriented village, there have been changes in road and the size, shape and direction of houses as well. In terms of the direction of houses situated along the river, a house facing the river accounts for more than half of all houses in the village. As traditional houses are transformed into modern houses over time, houses have become bigger, and the number of the houses facing south or southeast has been on the rise. As described above, riverside landscape and preference for the house facing south have an effect on determination of the facing direction of houses. However, the direction of geographical features of the village was first followed, and other conditions have been reflected, and the characteristics for the facing direction of houses have been observed.

본 연구의 목적은 시간의 흐름에 따라 생성되는 사건을 매개체로 하여 골프코스를 해석하고자 하는 것이다. 골프경기를 하면서 티샷, 두 번째 샷, 피팅, 홀아웃과 같은 다양한 사건이 발생하는데, 이러한 사건들을 바탕으로 버디, 파, 보기, 더블보기와 같은 준원인에 의한 사건의 계열화가 발생한다. 그러나 이러한 사건의 계열화는 항상 예측할 수 없는 방향으로 진행된다. 이러한 예측 불가능한 사건의 발생은 공간의 특성을 변화시키는 동시에 골퍼에게는 잊을 수 없는 체험을 제공한다. 질 들뢰즈는 공간의 특성을 홈 패인 공간과 매끈한 공간으로 구분하고 있다. 홈 패인 공간이란 차원적이고 계산되어지고 중심을 가지는 원거리적 공간으로 정주민적 공간의 특성을 지니는 공간이며, 매끈한 공간은 방향적이고 탈중심적이며 촉지적인 근거리적 공간으로 유목민적 공간의 특성을 지니는 공간을 말한다. 본 연구는 이러한 매끈한 공간과 홈 패인 공간을 개념적 기준으로 하여 공간의 특성을 분석하였다. 골프코스는 본래 인공적으로 설계된 매끈한 공간의 특성을 지니고 있으나, 골프경기가 진행되면서 사건생성적인 공간으로 변모한다. 즉, 동적이고 변화무쌍하며, 스케일이 장소에 따라 가변화되는 매끈한 공간으로 탈바꿈하게 된다. 경기를 진행함에 따라 이러한 공간적 특성의 반전은 예측할 수 없는 다양한 사건을 통하여 반복된다. 또한, 경기의 주체인 골퍼는 정위-중심설정-한정-순치라는 일련의 장소만들기 과정을 통하여 골프코스와의 역동적, 유기적 맞물림을 통하여 현상학적 체험과정을 느끼게 된다.
