노년층 여성의 생활양식에 따른 의복행동 (Clothing Behavior of Elderly Women by Lifestyle Groups)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify clothing behavior of elderly women and compare the clothing behavior by different types of lifestyle among females aged 50~69. A questionnaire was developed to measure the clothing behavior, lifestyle and demographic characteristics. The questionnaire was administered to 445 females aged 50~69 during february and May of 1994. Data were analyzed by using factor analysis, cluster analysis, ann MANOVA. The results of this study were as follows; 1. The lifestyle factors were derived: they were Economics oriented, Leisure oriented, Traditional family oriented, Consumption oriented, Self-confidence oriented, and Independence oriented. The respondents were categorized into five groups such as Conservatives, Independents, Pleasure seekers, Positivists, and Material seekers. 2. Symbolism, interest, aesthetics and management showed significant differences in different lifestyle groups. 3. Comfort, modesty, and approval showed significant differences in age and family lifestage. Dependence, management, comfort, modesty, and approval showed significant differences in marital status. Aesthetics, comfort, dependence, interest, modesty, and symbolism showed significant differences in educational level and the money they can spend on clothes in one month.

브랜드-자기 일치성이 아동복 브랜드 태도에 미치는 영향 -아동 이미지, 실제 이미지, 이상적 이미지를 중심으로- (Effects of Brand-Self Image Congruence on Attitudes toward Children's Wear Brands -Focus on Children's Image, Actual Image and Ideal Image-)

  • Self-congruency plays an important role in the context of mothers' shopping for children's clothing because purchasers are inconsistent with users. This study incorporates three dimensions of self-congruencies (congruency between children's image perceived by their mothers and brand image, congruency between mothers' actual self-image and brand image, and congruency between mothers' ideal self-image and brand image) due to purchaser-user inconsistency in children's clothing consumption. A total of 574 mothers with children aged 6 to 10 participated in a web-based survey. Descriptive statistical analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted. Self-brand image congruency variables have a different influence on brand attitudes when mothers purchase children's clothing. Brand attitude is influenced positively only when the perceived children's image coincides with brand image and when mothers' ideal self-image corresponds to brand image. In contrast, mothers' actual self-image and brand image congruence negatively influence brand attitude. Further investigation indicates that there are different effects of dimensions of self-congruency on brand attitude according to the characteristics of mothers and their children. This study suggests that when there is purchaser-user inconsistency, different types of image congruence has to be implemented to assess the impact on brand attitudes.

의류쇼핑성향에 따른 점포 내 환경에 대한 인지적${\cdot}$감정적${\cdot}$행동적 반응 (Cognitive, Emotional and Behavioral Responses on In-Store Shopping Environment according to Apparel Shopping Orientation)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the difference on the consumer's cognitive response, emotional and behavioral response in regard of the in-store shopping environment according to their apparel shopping orientation. The subjects of this study were consumers who finished shopping in the stores, and 300 questionnaires were completed. Data collected in this survey were analyzed by using Factor analysis, Cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA and Duncan test as a post identification. The results were as follows; 1. A significant difference was found on cognitive responses in regard of the in-store environment, such as a store atmosphere, salespeople, the assortment of products, and the fashion of products, according to types of apparel shopping orientation. The hedonic shopping type tended to have the higher evaluation toward a store atmosphere and salespeople than did other types. 2. Results showed statistically significant differences on emotional responses such as the outward/inward pleasure and outward/inward displeasure of the in-store shopping environment according to apparel shopping orientation types. The outward pleasure was found most highly in the high involvement shopping type. 3. There were significant differences on behavioral responses of the in-store shopping environment, such as the shopping satisfaction, the store revisit intention, recommending to others, and the unexpected consumption, according to apparel shopping orientation types.

잡지에 나타난 남성화장품 광고 분석 (Analysis of Advertisement for Men's cosmetics on Magazines)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the consumption value and characteristic of content in cosmetics & perfume advertisement in men's fashion magazines in order to understand the changes of men's cosmetics market which is recently getting great attention along with the craze for 'florally handsome men', and 'eolzzang'(=gorgeous face), and examine the changes of the culture of men's make-up. I selected Esquire which had firstly produced men's fashion magazine in Korea, and implemented the content analysis, the quantitative analysis method, by separating linguistic elements ken visual elements. The results are as follows: In the analysis of consumption value revealed in the linguistic elements of cosmetics advertisement, emotion value was the highest in both cosmetics and perfume, while function value was the second highest in cosmetics and rarity value was the second highest in perfume. About the changes of content characteristics of visual elements, in both cosmetics and perfume advertisement, there were a lot of visual advertisements focused on figures without the mixture of linguistic expressions. Between advertisement in 1990s and that in 2000s, there were meaningful differences only in types and object of meaning of used symbols.

대학생의 환경의식 태도에 따른 사회적지지 추구와 의류제품 소비행동 (Social Support Pursuit and Apparel Consumption Behavior by the Environment Awareness Attitudes of University Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to classify the environmental awareness attitudes of university students and analyze their differences in social support pursuit, and apparel consumption behavior. Questionnaires were administered to 236 college students living in Daegu City and Kyoungbuk province. Frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncan-test, and t-test were used for data analysis. The findings were as follows. The environmental awareness attitudes had factors as recognizing the importance of environmental issues, purchase of eco-friendly products, public opinion legislation awareness, interests on eco-friendly product, and eco-friendly practice. Social support pursuit were found as marginal people support pursuit, emotional support pursuit, informational support pursuit, and problem-solving support pursuit. Apparel consumption behavior were found as planned purchase, social participation attitude, clothes recycling, life practice, low-price orientation, emphasis on designs, clothing-life practice, and consciousness over others. The environmental awareness attitudes of university students were classified into four groups of Consumers of Environment-Awareness, Consumers of Environment-interests, Consumers of Environment-practice, and Consumers of Low Environment-awareness. The groups showed significant difference in social support pursuit, and apparel consumption behavior. Gender of university students showed significant differences the environmental awareness attitudes, social support pursuit, and apparel consumption behavior. It is meaningful to find out the significant relationship in a social context between environment recognition and social support pursuit related by friends. This study also offered a basic information related to social support pursuit by the types of university students' environmental awareness attitude and consumption on clothing, which is necessary for environmental education and green consuming behavior.

스팀분사 방식을 사용한 스팀 드럼세탁의 세탁성능 (Washing Efficiency of Drum Washing Machine Using Steam Jet System)

  • The washing efficiency of two types of washing machine- drum(drum washing) and drum using steam jet system(steam drum washing) was studied. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the performance of new steam drum washing. The relationship between washing temperature and washing efficiency(reflectance(%)) by soil removal, and that between washing temperature and electric energy consumption, Fabric damage evaluated by Danish wear method, Fabric shrinkage(%) during laundering were investigated, and compared with those in drum washing machine. Washing efficiency of steam drum washing according to washing temperature is better than that of drum washing. Electric energy consumption and fabric damage in steam drum washing are lower than those of drum washing. Fabric damage increased as washing temperature increased. Shrinkage of fabrics in steam drum washing and drum washing are about same. Therefore, we assumed that in the case of steam drum washing using steam jet system, washing efficiency remarkably increased, and fabric damage decreased, even with a lot of saving in given electric energy and water used.

대행 인터넷 쇼핑몰에서 위험지각과 정보탐색이 소비자 만족에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Perceived Risks and Information Search on Satisfaction with Surrogate Internet Shopping Malls)

  • Contemporary consumers interested in fashion develop global tastes regarding consumption and senses on how much certain products cost in the global market place. Demand for foreign brands and products produced a new type of e-tailor called surrogate Internet shopping malls. Due to the unfamiliarity of such retailers, consumers may perceive different types of risks and may show different styles of seeking informations. The research interest of this study was to investigate the differences of risk perception and information search between surrogate e-mall shoppers and general e-mall shoppers. In addition, we examined the influence of these two variables on consumer satisfaction. A survey questionnaire was developed. Measures of three types of e-shopping risks (delivery, transaction, service), information search and satisfaction were included. Data from surrogate e-mall consumers and general e-mall consumers were statistically analyzed. Surrogate e-mall shoppers showed a higher level of product delivery risk and customer service risk than general e-mall shoppers. They also spend more time in seeking information before making purchases. Regression analysis showed that perceived risk had significant influence on information search and consumer satisfaction for surrogate e-mall shoppers, whereas for general e-mall shoppers, no significant influence was detected. The findings should assist marketers and academics in their understanding of the surrogate e-shopping malls.

현대복식에 나타난 양면감정 (Ambivalence Expressed in Contemporary Fashion)

  • The purposes of the present research were (1) to investigate the sociological factors influencing the increase of ambivalence and the relationship between, the ambivalence and fashion change(2) to categorize sets of the ambivalence expressed for contemporary fashion and (3) to examine the frequency and the patterns of ambivalence presented for contemporary fashion. This research was conducted through in depth literature review and content analysis. Data was collected from 806 colored pictures presented on 'Collections' from 1972 to 1988. Eight types of clothing cues were incluede: look color texture decorative motifs of clothing collar sleeve and wearer's headdress/hair style and make-up. The results of this study were as follows: 1 The popularization of culture has been accelerated by mass production mass consumption and mass media. Since the 1980s postmodernism and poststructuralism have resulted in the breakdown of dualistic distinction. As the ambiguity of meaning in appearance increases the meaning is negotiated constantly for identity. 2. The most frequenctly expressed ambivalence in clothing was feminity/masculinity and tradition/modernity and wealth/poverty was the least. The number of ambivalent expression were the highest during 1990s. The rapid growth in ambivalence of tradition/modernity was found in 1970s feminity/masculinity in 1980s and modesty/immodesty in 1990s. Within a clothing style ambivalence was manifested through feminine look in white for beauty/ugliness feminine look mainly in yellow/red for wealty/poverty sexy look dominantly in black for modesty/immodesty androgynous look in black for feminity/masculinity and through ecology look most frequently in black for tradition/modernity.

남녀 대학생의 보상소비성향에 관한 연구 (A Study on Compensatory Consumption of Male and Female College Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate compensatory consumption propensity by male and female college students. The subjects of the study were 483 college students in Seoul, and SPSS 12.0 was used for statistical analysis. Two different types of compensatory consumption were considered separately positive compensatory consumption and negative compensatory consumption. The major findings were as follows. First, for male college students, drinking was the most preferable means of compensatory consumption to compensate for both negative and positive emotions. For female college students, their consumption patterns tended to include clothing purchase and eating-out for positive emotions and eating-out, reading and drinking for compensating negative emotions. Second, for both male and female students, the consumption propensity for compensating positive emotion was found to be higher than that for compensating negative emotion. And the consumption propensities for compensating positive and negative emotions were higher for female students when compared to those of male students. According to the results of regression analysis showing the relative effect of each variable to compensatory consumption, sex and consumption tendency were found to be relative variables on both positive and negative compensatory consumptions. Female students were found to be more likely to consume for compensating emotion than male students after other variables were controlled. For positive compensatory consumption, consumption propensity and materialism were found to be the most effective variables, and for negative compensatory consumption, materialism was the most effective variable.

주얼리 충동구매에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (Influential Variables of Impulse Buying in Jewelry Market)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influential variables of impulse buying for jewelry. A survey questionnaire was developed from previous researches. Data were obtained from female consumers who have purchased jewelry products living in Busan. The results showed that impulse buying of jewelry was influenced by shopping orientation, consumption value, store attributes, store types, and demographic variables. The impulse-buyers of jewelry were more likely to be recreational and fashion-oriented shoppers and to have store/brand loyalty than unimpulse-buyers. Additionally, they perceived importantly the uniqueness, newness or fashionability of jewelry, kindness of salesperson, store atmosphere, various design and assortment, and special sales of the jewelry store. They were more likely to patronize the department store and franchise store to purchase jewelry products. They also tended to spend more for jewelry and more frequently visit the jewelry store. Findings should provide the informations to assist marketers and researchers in their understandings of the jewelry market.
