This study examined different individual and parental factors that affect children's achievement motivation. For an analysis, perceived competence, intrinsic locus of control were included in individual variables. For parental variables, parental support and achievement pressure and marital conflict were examined. The sample consisted of 561 fifth and sixth grade children. Statistics and methods used for the data analysis were Cronbach's alpha, Factor analysis, frequency, percentage, Pearson's correlation, and Hierarchical Regression. Several major results were found from the analysis. First, girl's achievement motivation was higher than boys. No age difference was found between fifth and sixth grade. Second, boy's and girl's achievement motivation had a positive correlation with perceived competence, intrinsic locus of control, parental support and achievement pressure but a negative correlation with parental marital conflict. Third, important variables predicting boy's and girl's achievement motivation were perceived academic competence, parental achievement pressure and perceived social competence. Important variables predicting boy's individual and social oriented achievement motivation were perceived academic competence and parental achievement pressure. On the other hand, important variables predicting girl's individual oriented achievement motivation were perceived social competence, perceived academic competence, intrinsic locus of control and parental achievement pressure. Important variables predicting girl's social oriented achievement motivation were parental achievement pressure, perceived academic competence and mother's support.
This study used the data of students from the 6th grade to the 3rd grade of middle schoolin the Korean Educational Longitudinal Study 2013 and classified them into subgroups with similar longitudinal changes in math academic achievement. In addition, the influence of longitudinal changes in the group's academic self-concept and teachers and parents academic support on the longitudinal changes in math academic achievement were analyzed, either directly or indirectly. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the academic self-concept of each group had a positive influence on the academic achievement in mathematics. In addition, the academic support of teachers and parents was found to have a positive influence on the academic achievement in mathematics through the mediating of the academic self-concept. In terms of direct and indirect influence on academic self-concept and math vertical scale scores, it was found that teachers' academic support had more influence than parents' academic support. The educational implications of these points were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-regulated learning program on the underachiever's academic achievement and academic self-concept. To achieve the purpose of study the research hypotheses were as follows : Hypothesis 1 : There will be significant differences in the improvement of academic achievement between the experimental group and the control group. Hypothesis 2 : There will be significant differences in the improvement of academic self-concept between the experimental group and the control group. To verify these hypotheses, 32 underachievers were selected from sixth grade students of 'D' elementary school located in Seoul. 16 students were allocated to the experimental group and 16 students were allocated to the control group. The experimental group trained with self-regulated learning program for 10 times(The length of each section was 60 minutes). The self-regulated learning program in this study was based on program by Kim. Yong-Soo(1998), The measurement instruments of the study were mathematics achievement test paper and academic self-concept test. To find out the difference, Pretest-posttest control design was used. Mean and standard deviations obtained from these tests were analysed with t-test. The major findings obtained through this study are as follows : First, self-regulated learning program was effective in improvement of academic achievement (p<.05). Second, self-regulated learning Program was not effective in improvement of academic self-concept. However, the experimental group showed significant improvement(p<.01) at academic self-concept and sub academic self-concepts (ability, achievement) in the data of pre-post test. it can be suggested that this program had positive influence on underachievers. Although it has some limitations, self-regulated learning program is effective to academic achievement and academic self-concept of underachievers, even though not significant, it has a positive t.
It is crucial to understand the characteristics of learner questioning due to the effects it has on learning. This study focuses on the effects of middle school students questioning on their academic achievement in an online inquiry learning environment. A survey of 827 middle school students was conducted; the students took part in an online math and science program offered by a center for the gifted. Throughout the survey, learner questioning was analyzed, and its correlation with academic achievement was investigated. An analysis was based on questioning categories of a low- and high-level questions from previous studies. Through the survey, it was found that the number of learner questions asked in the online environment was small, but the number of low- and high-level questions were almost equal. Secondly, the higher the academic achievement level of the student, the higher the possibility they would ask either low- or high-level questions. Lastly the group of students in both low- and high-levels of questioning earned the highest average scores on formative evaluations and inquiry tasks. This indicates that regardless of the level of questions, the act of questioning itself is highly related to the academic achievement. However, in the case of advanced learning projects, the quality of questioning and high-level questioning affected the academic achievement of students. Based on these results, implications for the encouragement of learner questioning and support for asking high-level question are suggested.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the effects on the academic achievement and learning motive in mathematics class by use of Cornell-note method at an elementary school. Thus, Cornell-mathematic note is designed for the experiment in order to recognize the effects how the Cornell-note influences students' mathematics academic achievement and learning motive. This experiment was carried out for 13 weeks and the target was 28 students. The group was consisted of 6rd grade students in elementary school located in Busan. To see the effects of Cornell-note method after experiment, post-test was carried out about mathematics academic achievement and learning motive. The results of this study are as follows: There was meaningful difference before and after test about mathematics academic achievement and learning motive. The academic achievement and learning motive in mathematics were improved after Cornell-note applied. Improvement of learning motive caused progress of academic achievement in mathematics class. The Cornell-note way is not appropriate, however, to reinforce mathematical communication ability and to attract students' interest. Therefore, systematic symbol is necessary and consider about adoption of story-telling way.

Based on a survey on 1620 students in primary school and secondary school., by adopting Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ), we got the following findings : 1. There is close relationship between emotionality characteristics of temperament and mathematics academic achievement of the subjects at Grade 5 (Primary 5), Grade 8 (Junior Secondary 2), and Grade 10 (Senior Secondary 2). Also there is close relationship between internal-external directivity characteristics of temperament and mathematics academic achievement at Grade 5 and Grade 8. While there is not close relationship between internal-external directivity characteristics of temperament and mathematics academic achievement at Grade 10; 2. There is close relationship between temperament types and mathematics academic achievement of the subjects from the three grades. Superior temperament, which benefit learning mathematics, are sanguine, sanguine-phlegmatic and phlegmatic; While inferior temperament types, which don't benefit learning mathematics, are choleric, melancholic and choleric-melancholic. With the rising of grade, temperament types of benefiting learning mathematics converts from external directivity emotion balance to balance of internal-external directivity emotion stability. While temperament of no benefiting learning mathematics converts from internal directivity emotion balance to balance of internal-external directivity emotion instability; 3. In mathematics education, students' temperament difference, which affects learning mathematics, should be recognized. Mathematics teachers should find out the best teaching ways, forms and methods which are suitable for student's temperament type, so that the students with different temperament types can gain better mathematics academic achievement.

The influences of the basic academic skills to the scholastic achievement grades has been researched and we made a test of the basic academic skills(Korean language, mathematic, foreign language) to the students of engineering department in I college in Seoul and analyzed the correlation between the basic academic skills and the scholastic achievement grades. Results show that the scholastic achievement grades has a correlation(r=.456, p<0.01) to the average grade of the basic academic skill test. High level students of the scholastic achievement grades have a correlation(r=.292, p<0.01) to the mathematical department and the others have a correlation(r=.232, p<0.05 and r=.279, p<0.01) to the Korean linguistic department. The results of this study through multiple regression analysis indicate that the scholastic achievement has a relation on Korean language skill. As a result, It is recommendable that the mathematical basic academic skill programs are suggested to the high-level students of the scholastic achievement grades and the linguistic basic academic skill programs to the others. Also, the required basic linguistic subject is needed to the low-level students of the basic academic skills and in this paper, we propose the test and management system for the basic campus-life skills including the basic academic skills and the basic major skills.
