  • A numerical analysis for ROT sparger of PWR(Pressurized Water Reactor) is carried out. Computation is performed to investigate the flow characteristics as the change of design factor. As the result of this study, RDT sparger's flow resistance coefficient is K=3.53 at the present design condition if engineering mar&in is considered with 20%, and flow ratio into branch pipe is $Q_s/Q_i=0.41$. Velocity distribution at exit is not uniform because of separation in branch pipe. In the change of inlet flow rate and section area ratio of branch pipe for main pipe, flow resistance coefficient is increased as $Q_s/Q_i$ decreasing, but in the change of branch angle and outlet nozzle diameter of main pipe, flow resistance coefficient is decreased as $Q_s/Q_i$ decreasing. As the change rate of $Q_s/Q_i$ is the larger, the change rate of flow resistance coefficient is the larger. The change rate of pressure loss is the largest change as section area ratio changing. The optimal design condition of sparger is estimated as the outlet nozzle diameter ratio of main pipe is $D_s/D_i=0.333$, the section area ratio is $A_s/A_i=0.2$ and the branch angle is ${\alpha}=55^{\circ}$.

  • Geophysical well logging techniques which are useful for delineating permeability of geological formation have been reviewed. A new technique for obtaining permeability using conductivity log technique has been discussed. This conductivity logging technique has been tested by monitoring the conductivity change within the model hole using borehole environment water and incoming-outgoing water of different salinity with constant flow rate by maintaining balance between inflow and outflow. Conductivity variation features depended mainly on flow rate, density contrasts due to salinity and temperature contrasts between fluid within the hole and incoming-outgoing fluid. The results of the experiment show uniform change of fluid conductivity within bore hole with time, and a fairly good correlation between the flow rate and the conductivity change rate. This conductivity logging technique is expected to be an efficient tool for determining permeability.

  • Environmental pressures from such sources an economic condition, the government and inter-institutional competition create managerial challenges. Economic pressures may be forcing dietetic dept, in hospital to utilize cost∙benefit analysis to assist them in their problem solving. Cost∙benefit analysis have been widely used in business, industry and many other fields with only limited application to foodservice. Due to the lack or this information the purposes of this study were to identify use of cost∙benefit analysis in hospital foodservice system to evaluate the economic efficiency of alternatives, and to make recommendation for operation system change. Using the cost∙benefit method, cash flows are separated into cost and benefits. For an alternative to be selected, indicators, such as NPV, benefit-cost ratio (B/C ratio) with 5% discount rate per annum. The sensitivity analysis was also conducted with difference rate 3%, 7% respectively and reduced employee payroll change. The result of this study can be summarized as follows : 1. The total cost of investment for operation system change was 390,570 thousand won and the total benefit through operation system change was 865,808 thousand won. 2. Net present value(NPV) for 5 years was 475,239 thousand won and benefit-cost ratio was 2.22. 3. In sensitivity analysis with different discount rate 3%, 7%, benefit-cost ratio was 2.25, 2.18 respectively, with total reduced employee payroll change, benefit-cost ratio was 2.86. In conclusion, total benefits were exceeded total costs. Therefore, the project of operation system change in hospital foodservice was found to be economically efficient.

  • Knowing the time of the process change could lead to quicker identification of the responsible special cause and less process down time, and it could help to reduce the probability of incorrectly identifying the special cause. In this paper, we propose a MLE of the process change point when control charts with the fixed sampling rate (FSR) scheme or the variable sampling rate (VSR) scheme monitor a process to detect changes in the process mean and/or variance of a normal quality variable.

  • A long-term change in the evaporation rate have an influence on the hydrologic processes at the interface between the land surface-air and crop yield. Several previous studies have reported declines in pan evaporation rate, while actual evaporation rate is expected to increase due to anthropogenic global change in the future. The decreasing trend of pan evaporation rate might be involved with global warming and accordingly the trend of annual pan evaporation rate also needs to be checked here in Korea. In this study, 14 points of pan evaporation observation are intensively studied to investigate the trend of pan evaporation for the time period of 1970-2000. Annual pan evaporation is decreasing at the rate of 1.6mm/yr, which corresponds to approximately 50mm for 30 years. Annual pan evaporation rate is larger by $\sim10%$ at the coastal area and decreasing rate is faster as -2.46 mm/yr per year, while that is -0.82 mm/yr per year at the in-land area. The results of the Mann-Kendall trend test shows 4 points are decreasing and 10 points are unchanged with 95% confidence interval. But national annual average values show the decreasing trend of pan evaporation rate as a whole, which corresponds to general trend all over the world. This study will contribute to a variety of studies on water resources, hydrology, agricultural engineering, meteorology, and coastal engineering in association with future global climate change.

  • Ageing induces huge dramatic change of society and economy rather than simple change of population structure. Ageing causes the decrease of working age population and production capable population, thus this brings growth slowness and long-term stagnation. In addition, progress in ageing decreases saving rate, consequently low saving rate brings about the decrease of country-wide investment resources. This ageing problem which is progressive rapidly needs core competence and implementation of human resource professionals to overcome this kind of environment change. First of all, it needs turnover in thinking way toward talents. Secondly, we need innovation one team to pursue innovation and creativity. Thirdly, it should be considered in a new way with the number of workers and efficiency of personnel expenses. Fourthly, employees should make effort for self-advancement. Under the environment with newly change human resource personnels' function and role should be emphasized to maintain sustainable growth and overcome the change of management environment. Therefore, human resources should be emphasized to become competitive personnel and organization with leading the change master and creating the value of the organization.

  • We studied the trend change of failure rate function and uncertainty of residual life function in terms of location of their trend change points. It is shown that the trend change of uncertainty of residual life takes place before the failure rate changes its trend. Like DIFR(IDFR) does not necessary implies IDMRL(DIMRL), we find the fact that DIFR(IDFR) does not always imply IDURL(DIURL) under certain conditions, through the exponentiated-weibull distribution.

  • In this paper, with the utilization of a three-dimensional version of Leibniz’s rule, the procedure of deriving the time rate of change of an energy functional for axially moving continua is investigated. It will be shown that the method in [14], which describes the way of getting the time rate of change of an energy functional in Eulerian description, and subsequent results in [10, 11] are not complete. The key point is that the time derivatives at boundaries in the Eulerian description of axially moving continua should take into account the velocity of the moving material itself. A noble way of deriving the time rate of change of the energy functional is proposed. The correctness of the proposed method has been confirmed by other approaches. Two examples, one-dimensional axially moving string and beam equations, are provided for the purpose of demonstration. The results following the procedure proposed and the results in [14] are compared.

  • Rotor position information is essential in the operation of the switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive for generation the phase current switching signals. When an incremental encoder is used as a rotor position sensor, the initial rotor position can not be detected. Some sensorless rotor position estimation methods also have the same problem. In these systems, to initially align the rotor, the forced alignment method has a delay and reverse rotation before the motor can start. Therefore it can not be acceptable for unidirectional drive systems. So the forced alignment method is not desirable in all drive systems and the research on the SRM drives should be directed to a system without rotor alignment. In this paper, a new detection method of initial rotor position using the rate of change of current is suggested. Firstly, di/dt versus θ/sub R/ reference table, which is the relation between the rate of change of current and rotor position, is generated and then the squared Euclidean distance method is used to estimate the rotor position based on the table. The simulated and experimental results are presented demonstrating the feasibility and accuracy of this method.

  • A numerical analysis on branch type sparger in drain tank for depressurization is performed to investigate the flow characteristics due to the change of design factor. As the result of this study, sparger\\`s flow resistance coefficient(K) is 3.53 at the present design condition when engineering margin for surface roughness is considered as 20%, and flow ratio into branch pipe ($Q_s/Q_i$) is 0.41. The correlation for calculating flow resistance coefficients as design factor is presented. Flow resistance coefficient is increased as section area ratio of branch pipe for main pipe and outlet nozzle diameter of main pipe decreasing, but the effects of branch angle and inlet flow rate of main pipe are small. As the change rate of ($Q_s/Q_i$)becomes larger, the change rate of flow resistance coefficient increases. The rate of pressure loss has the largest change as section area ratio changing. The condition of maximum flow resistance in sparger is when the outlet nozzle diameter ratio of main pipe ($D_e/D_i$) is 0.167, the section area ratio ($A_s/A_i$) is 0.1 and the branch angle ($\alpha$) is 55^{\circ}$.
