The role of local economies in pursuing national economic development has expanded with greater influence. So a number of countries have adopted industrial cluster policies for regional and national economic development. Korean government, by the same token, puts emphasis on industrial cluster policies. But the academic studies on the necessities and effects of industrial clusters for Korean shipbuilding industry have been carried out little in Korean due to the lack of empirical studies on Korean industrial clusters. So this study focuses on analysing the industrial clusters in the Busan, Ulsan, Koungnam as southeast area of Korea. To be more specific, this study intends to provide answers to the following question: Are there industrial clusters in the Busan, Ulsan, Koungnam as southeast area of Korea analysed by the Location Quotient(LQ) analysis method? And as a consequence, Shipbuilding industrial clusters of southeast area of Korea were not identified.

This study attempts to present investment priorities and select industry for regional economic reinvigorating by analysing regional inter-industry of Chungchong area(including Chungnam and Chungbuk region) After the regional inter-industry table of Chungchong area has been made using a location quotient(LQ) method based on national inter-industry table of 2006 derived from national inter-industry table of 2003 using RAS method, various kind of impacts to Chungchong area are analysed. Manufacturing has the highest result in the result of production-inducing effect and value-added-inducing effect and hotels and restaurants has the highest result in employ-inducing effect. Sensitivity coefficient is highly analysed in mining and quarrying and influential coefficient is highly analysed in manufacturing.

Recently, there has been a growing interest in the fourth industrial revolution, expected to have a significant impact on society. However, there are only a few studies on spatial distribution and location of the fourth industry. This study tried to classify the spatial distribution of the fourth industry by using LQ, a non-geographical method, and Getis-Ord's Gi^*, a geographical method. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, there are the specialized areas of the fourth industry in the non-Seoul metropolitan area as well as the Seoul metropolitan area. Second, industrial clusters and neighborhood areas of the fourth industry were located mostly in the Seoul metropolitan area. Third, industrial clusters were concentrated on the southern part of Gyeonggi Province and Seoul, and there are no industrial clusters in the northern part of the Seoul metropolitan area and the nature conservation area. This paper shows that the cluster area of the fourth industry is concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area. Therefore, policies for the 4th industry are needed to solve this unbalanced spatial distribution of the fourth industry.

This study focused on the competitiveness analysis of industrial cluster using econometric method and competency analysis method to measure the situation of Seocho-gu industrial cluster and Yangjae R&D cluster at Seoul. The econometric method used the data such as the number of firms, the number of employee, GRDP. The competency analysis method measured the level of agglomeration of cluster for years through LQ(Location quotient) index. In addition, the characteristics and structure of each industry in Secho-gu and Yangjae-dong R&D cluster. The circumstance of location and business, the competency of potential ability of industries were analysed by SWOT. In sum, this study has the following conclusion. First, Seocho-gu and Yangjae-dong region has an advantage in the circumstance for R&D related industry and man power. Second, Seocho-gu and Yangjae-dong region has a good potential for development in R&D related industries. These region has a good relationship the four major R&D related industry of Seoul. Third, these region also has a advantage in the potential development of R&D related researchers in the corresponding industries.
