Metabolomes and transcriptomes revealed the saponin distribution in root tissues of Panax quinquefolius and Panax notoginseng

  • Background: Panax quinquefolius and Panax notoginseng are widely used and well known for their pharmacological effects. As main pharmacological components, saponins have different distribution patterns in the root tissues of Panax plants. Methods: In this study, the representative ginsenosides were detected and quantified by desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography analysis to demonstrate saponin distribution in the root tissues of P. quinquefolius and P. notoginseng, and saponin metabolite profiles were analyzed by metabolomes to obtain the biomarkers of different root tissues. Finally, the transcriptome analysis was performed to demonstrate the molecular mechanisms of saponin distribution by gene profiles. Results: There was saponin distribution in the root tissues differed between P. quinquefolius and P. notoginseng. Eight-eight and 24 potential biomarkers were detected by metabolome analysis, and a total of 340 and 122 transcripts involved in saponin synthesis that were positively correlated with the saponin contents (R > 0.6, P < 0.05) in the root tissues of P. quinquefolius and P. notoginseng, respectively. Among them, GDPS1, CYP51, CYP64, and UGT11 were significantly correlated with the contents of Rg1, Re, Rc, Rb2, and Rd in P. quinquefolius. UGT255 was markedly related to the content of R1; CYP74, CYP89, CYP100, CYP103, CYP109, and UGT190 were markedly correlated with the Rd content in P. notoginseng.

중국의학에 대한 새로운 이해 -중국의학사의 최근 연구 동향- (What Changes the Picture of Chinese Medicine : A Survey of the Current Historiography of Chinese Medicine)

  • This article will introduce the changes of the historiography of the Chinese medicine which have been made during the last several decades. These will be described with the changes in the image of the Chinese medicine that has been occupied in our mind. We regard Chinese medicine as a rational knowledge system which is based on the theory of Yin-Yang and Five phases. Therefore we draw a dear line of demarcation between Chinese medicine and irrational cure means such as religious prayer, charms and folk remedies which have no theoretical background. We also think the medical lineages continue virtually uninterrupted over the whole time of the history of Chinese medicine that began from Huangdineijing(皇帝內徑) and Shanghanlun(傷寒論). And we consider Chinese medicine as a sort of science, and suppose there has been one universal and homogeneous medical system in the mainland China. This image, however, has been changing rapidly. These changes come from the join of externalists who were trained as historian not physician, for studying the history of Chinese medicine, and the methodological innovations of historiography which was influenced by the methodologies of anthropology, social history, cultural history and the discourse of postmodemism.

한국 애니메이션 산업의 중국시장 진출전략 : 포지셔닝(Positioning)전략 및 실행방안 (A Study on Positioning Strategy for Korean Animation Industry in the Chinese Market)

  • 한국 애니메이션 산업에게 있어 중국시장 진출은 필수적 과제이다. 그러나, 중국 정부의 강력한 수입 애니메이션 규제정책은 한국 애니메이션 완성작의 수출은 물론, 한국에서 기획된 작품에 중국으로부터 투자를 유치하는 형태의 한중 공동제작마저도 어렵게 만들었다. 이제껏 거대 중국시장과 투자자금 유입을 기대하면서 한국기업들이 추진해온 방식의 중국진출 전략은 더 이상 유효하지 않으며, 자금까지와는 다른 새로운 접근법이 필요한 시점이다. $5{\sim}10$년 내에 세계적인 애니메이션 대국을 지향하는 중국정부의 정책분석을 통해 높은 중국시장 진입장벽을 확인하였고, 중국 정부와 애니메이션 산업을 중국시장의 '우선 고객'으로 간주하여 이들 고객의 니즈(Needs)를 파악한 결과, 이제는 한국 애니메이션 프로젝트가 아니라 '한국 애니메이션 산업'을 소구(Appeal)하는 것이 필요하며, 중국 정부와 산업의 니즈(Needs)를 만족시킬 수 있는 한국 애니메이션 산업의 전략적 포지셔닝(Positioning)만이 현 상황을 타개해 나갈 수 있을 것이라는 결론을 도출하였다. 전략적 포지셔닝 확립은 적절한 실행방안을 통해서만 실현가능한 것인 바, 실현방안으로서 바람직한 형태의 중국과의 공동제작 방법론을 제시하였다. 문제는, 본고에서 제시되고 있는 중국시장 진출 방안도 현재 중국 애니메이션 산업의 발전 속도로 볼 때, 그 유효 기간이 몇 년 남지 않았다는 사실이다. 이에 대한 한국 애니메이션 산업의 인식전환과 신속한 대응이 필요하며, 그를 위한 정부의 지원정책도 절실한 시점이다.

중국산 녹두전분의 물성에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Textural Properties of Chinese Mungbean Starch)

  • Recently, plenty of imported Chinese Mungbean is sold, for Korean Mungbean is expensive. But they say, Chinese Mungean has less delicacy and cooking quality. Above all, in comparison with Korean and Chinese Mungbeans properties they are different - Chinese Mungbean grain is twice in dimension, Chinese Mungbean is white and Korean one is yellow in peeled grain color. They are similar in size shape with the microscope. With Amylograph of Brabender the viscosity of Korean Mungbean is gradually and continually increased until heating from $25^{\circ}C$ to $92.5^{\circ}C$ and cooling to $25^{\circ}C$ again, but the one of Chines Mungbean is increased suddenly in 74$^{\circ}C$ and shows the abrupt break-down phenomenon. This same phenomenon is shown in swelling with melting-pointer, In $25^{\circ}C$, the cooling temperature, Chinese Mungbean is measured to 1400 B.U and Korean one 1600 B.U. With color-meter of Richard S. Hunter, 12% gel of Korean Mungbean starch is clear but Chinese one white. The texture of 12% gel of Chinese Mungbean starch with Rheo-meter becomes hardened much more than Korea one. As a result of sensory-test, color, cohesiveness, and flavors of Korean gel is preferred overwhelmingly.

한국과 중국의 MeSH 호환성 연구 (A study of MeSH Compatibility between Korea and Chinese)

  • The findings from this study are summarized as follows: 1. Hangul 2004 has 16,023 Chinese Character codes. Among them, 15,231 Chinese Character codes are searched by DB, the others are unsearchable codes. 2. Among 15,231 Chinese Character codes of Hangul 2004, 2,471 Chinese Character codes are converted into 2,232 Simplified Chinese Character codes by Traditional and Simplified Chinese Character Converting program in Hangul 2004. 3. The 5th edition TCM-MeSH has 6,385 thesauruses and 2,142 kinds of Chinese Characters. 4. If we use Simplified Chinese Character of Hangul 2004 to search for TCM-MeSH, we will find 94.3% of TCM-MeSH. But If we use Traditional Chinese Character of Hangul 2004 to search for TCM-MeSH, we will find only 34.2% of TCM-MeSH.

한국 전통 김치의 중국 시장 확대를 위한 중국 산동성 지역 성인의 기호도 조사 (A Survey of the Chinese's Preference for Kimchi to Expand Chinese Market in Shandong Province)

  • This study surveyed the Korean Kimchi preference for Chinese, potential Kimchi improvement for Chinese market adaptation and Kimchi application for Chinese cuisine, with the aim of spreading the recognition of Kimchi throughout the world, especially in China, by giving information and developing local types which could be expected to be suitable for utilization of Chinese food life. The subjects were consisted of 298 Chinese(male 108, female 190) residing in Weihai, Yantai and Qingdao, in Shandong province. The questionnaire form was developed and used for self administered evaluation. The collected data were analyzed by SAS package. Baechu Kimchi was found to be the most well-known Kimchi for Chinese, and Kkakdugi, Oi Kimchi, Yoelmu Kimchi and Nabak Kimchi were followed in order. Baechu Kimchi(75.9%) was found to be the most favorite Kimchi for Chinese, and Oi Kimchi(59.3%), Kkakdugi(52.8%), Nabak Kimchi(39.3%) and Yoelmu Kimchi(37.7%) were followed in order. The subjects knew about the Korean foods made with Kimchi, such as Kimchi kimbap(74.8%), Kimchi bibimbap(71.5%), Kimchi bokkeumbap(61.7%), Kimchi guk(58.1%) in order. But the experience of consumption for Korean foods made with Kimchi was low compared to the knowledge of the Korean foods made with Kimchi. Chinese's most favorite foods made with Kimchi were Kimchi bossam, Kimchi bibimbap, Kimchi bokkeumbap and Kimchi kimbap, Kimchi bokkeum, Kimchi tteoksanjeok and Kimchi jeon in order. Among the 9 kinds of new Chinese foods made with Kimchi, Kimchi chao zhurou(fried pork with Kimchi), Kimchi chao mian(fried noodle with Kimchi), Kimchi chao youcai xiaren(fried rape and prawn with Kimchi), Kimchi zhuroushuijiao(dumpling with pork and Kimchi), Kimchi gedatang(wheat flakes soup with Kimchi) and Kimchi hundun(dumpling with Kimchi), and Kimchi youbing(panfried flour with Kimchi), Kimchi lamian(handmade knife-cut noodle with Kimchi) and Kimchi tangyuan(tangyuan with Kimchi) were preferred foods by the subjects in order.

Upregulation of adiponectin by Ginsenoside Rb1 contributes to amelioration of hepatic steatosis induced by high fat diet

  • Background: Ginsenoside Rb1 (GRb1) is capable of regulating lipid and glucose metabolism through its action on adipocytes. However, the beneficial role of GRb1-induced up-regulation of adiponectin in liver steatosis remains unelucidated. Thus, we tested whether GRb1 ameliorates liver steatosis and insulin resistance by promoting the expression of adiponectin. Methods: 3T3-L1 adipocytes and hepatocytes were used to investigate GRb1's action on adiponectin expression and triglyceride (TG) accumulation. Wild type (WT) mice and adiponectin knockout (KO) mice fed high fat diet were treated with GRb1 for 2 weeks. Hepatic fat accumulation and function as well as insulin sensitivity was measured. The activation of AMPK was also detected in the liver and hepatocytes. Results: GRb1 reversed the reduction of adiponectin secretion in adipocytes. The conditioned medium (CM) from adipocytes treated with GRb1 reduced TG accumulation in hepatocytes, which was partly attenuated by the adiponectin antibody. In the KO mice, the GRb1-induced significant decrease of TG content, ALT and AST was blocked by the deletion of adiponectin. The elevations of GRb1-induced insulin sensitivity indicated by OGTT, ITT and HOMA-IR were also weakened in the KO mice. The CM treatment significantly enhanced the phosphorylation of AMPK in hepatocytes, but not GRb1 treatment. Likewise, the phosphorylation of AMPK in liver of the WT mice was increased by GRb1, but not in the KO mice. Conclusions: The up-regulation of adiponectin by GRb1 contributes to the amelioration of liver steatosis and insulin resistance, which further elucidates a new mechanism underlying the beneficial effects of GRb1 on obesity.

한국어 중의성 문장에 대한 중국인학습자들의 발화양상 (Prosodic aspects of ambiguous sentences in Korean produced by Chinese speakers)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the prosodic aspects of ambiguous sentences in Korean produced by Chinese Korean Learners (L1: Chinese, L2: Korean). In Korean, sentence ambiguity can be caused by homonym or syntactically ambiguous structure. In spoken language however all ambiguity can be resolved by different prosodic features according to the meaning that they transmit. In this study we examined whether Chinese Korean Leaners also distinguish, in production, ambiguous sentences on the basis of prosodic characteristics. For this study 4 Korean natives speakers and 10 advanced Chinese Korean learners participated in the production test. The material analysed constituted 10 Korean sentences in which 6 sentences are lexically ambiguous and 4 sentences contain structural ambiguity. The results show that Korean native speakers produced ambiguous sentences by different prosodic structure depending on their semantic and syntactic structure. Chinese speakers also show distinct prosodic structure for different ambiguous sentences in most cases. But in the phonetic realization, the internal pitch range was greater for Korean native speakers than Chinese learners.
