  • Impact force to a body during walking depends on walking speed, walking steps, the condition of the floors and shoes, and weight. The ground reaction force and the foot pressure can be measured instantaneous force easily, but it's difficult to find out the amount of transferring forces to the body. On the other hand, the acceleration has an advantage for analyzing the amount of transferring forces. However, most of studies about impact forces to the ground reaction during exercise have been limited to analyze instantaneous forces. The important thing is to evaluate characters and the amount of the impact force rather than the magnitude. Therefore, this study analyze the impact force using 3 axis acceleration in three dimensions (x; anterior-posterior, y; left-right and z; longitudinal axis) using three axis acceleration. As working speed increased, impact forces increased significantly. Impact forces on x axis and z axis are higher at lower limb than that of upper limb. However, impact force at the knee is higher than that of other parts on y axis regardless of walking speed significantly. In addition, relations of the impact forces as interaction of experiment factors as well as effect of each factor are analyzed.

  • Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between osteoporosis and cardiovascular risk factors according to Sasang constitution. Methods A total of 1773 participants, over 40 years old, were examined as part of a community-based cohort in Wonju city in Gangwon province of South Korea, from June 2006 to August 2009. We measured bone mineral density by Achilles ultrasonometer, serum levels of lipids, fasting blood sugar, insulin and other cardiovascular risk factors like blood pressure and waist circumference. Constitution was verified by a Sasang constitution specialist using the results of PSSC(Phonetic System for Sasang Constitution), facial photos and a simplified Sasang constitutional questionnaire. Results The prevalence rate was 11.2% in total participants, and 10.6% in Soyangin, 10.4% in Taeeumin and 13.9% in Soeumin. In general characteristics, educational and economic property and exercise were concerned with osteoporosis. Systolic blood pressure, pulse rate and total cholesterol were significantly high in osteoporosis group. Age and menopause were the key risk factors for osteoporosis. There was a significantly high prevalence in Soeumin for osteoporosis in men alone. Low physical activity was a major risk factor for osteoporosis. Waist circumference and hip circumference had significantly high odds ratio and weight had significantly low odds ratio. By Sasang constitution, Soyangin has the negative correlation with free fatty acid, Taeeumin has the negative correlation with waist circumference, pulse rate, systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein and Soeumin has the positive correlation with body fat amount. Conclusions Regimens on osteoporosis should be considered according to Sasang constitution. Cardiovascular diseases should be considered according to Sasang constitution. Soeumin should be cautious of osteoporosis and gain weights and reasonable amount of fat food. Soyangin had better do exercise lower body and eat little food containing triglyceride. Taeeumin had better lose weights and eat little cholesterol food.

  • The data analysis system using Big-data is worthy to be used in various fields such as politics, traffic, natural disaster, shopping, customer management, medical care, and weather information. Particularly, the analysis of the momentum of an individual using an acceleration signal collected from a wearable device has already been widely used. However, since the data used in such a system stores only the data necessary for measuring the individual activity, it does not provide various analysis results other than the exercise amount of the individual. In this paper, I propose a system that analyzes collective behavior pattern and activity based on the acceleration signal that can be collected from personal smartphones for 24 hours a day and stored in big data. I also propose a system that sends acceleration signals and receives analysis results using standard messaging to use on various smart devices.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between major satisfaction and university life adaptation according to the amount of physical activity for university students. This study implement survey to the 201 university students. Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, one-way ANOVA and pearson's correlation analysis were conducted for data analyses. The results are as follows. First, university students' major satisfaction with the amount of physical activity is statistically significantly higher than that of low-intensity physical activity groups (p<.05). Second, university life adaptation according to the amount of physical activity was found to be statistically significantly higher in high-intensity physical activity groups than in medium-intensity physical activity groups and low-intensity physical activity groups (p<.05). Lastly, according to the relationship between physical activity, major satisfaction, and university life adaptation of university students, male students have a static correlation between physical activity, major satisfaction (general satisfaction), and university life adaptation (personal emotion adaptation) and female students have a static correlation between physical activity and university life adaptation(social adaptation) (p<.05). This study confirmed that the amount of physical activity of university students is related to their major satisfaction and adaptation to university life. Based on this conclusion, it is expected that university students will be able to manage their university life through physical activities.

  • A 3-month old female Holstein calf was presented with about a month history of intermittent dyspnea, exercise intolerance and cough despite antibiotic therapy. Auscultation revealed prominent inspiratory and exploratory crackles and wheezes over the causal cervical trachea which were heard equally over both side of the chest.4 modest amount of forced exercise caused severe respiratory distress with stertorous noise and occasional honkinglike cough. Pasteurella spp. was isolated on the nasal swabs and a hemogram showed mild leucocytosis with a mature neutrophilia and mild monocytosis. Lateral radiographs of the neck and thorax revealed a marked narrowing of the tracheal lumen extending from the level of the fifth cervical to the second thoracic vertebra, and the lung field was judged to be within normal limitsi except very mild peribronchial thickening. The hypertrophic non-union fractures of the first pair of ribs were noted with a well delineatedr redundant callus formations and also the completely healed fractures were found on the next seven pairs of ribs. A diagnosis of tracheal collapse was made, which is thought to be a traumatic origin.4 poor prognosis was given. The calf was euthanatized and necropsied. The tracheal rings from 19th to 41s1 were collapsed dorsoventrally. Histologically, there was no difference between the collapsed and normal areas of the tracheae except the folding mucosal layer in the collapsed area. This report details a case of tracheal collapse in a calli and the literature is reviewed.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the educational program based on the self-efficacy theory of Bandura(1986) and to identify the effect of the program among women. For this purpose a non-equivalent control group, and a pretest- posttest design was used between the experimental and the control group. The subjects in this study were female and were over the age 40, 37 in the experimental group and 46 in the control group. In this study, the educational program was developed to increase the level of osteoporosis self efficacy and to prevent osteoporosis. The program consisted of watching, videotapes, telephone contact, lectures, and small group discussions. This study was conducted to determine whether the 6 month educational program would increase osteoporosis self- efficacy, thus modifying life styles related to osteoporosis increas BMD. The instruments utilized in this study were the Lifestyle Questionnaire, and the Osteoporosis Self-Efficacy Scale. Also, bone marrow density (BMD) on the left wrist was measured by DTX-200. The findings are as follows: 1. A significant decrease in BMD was observed in the control group. By contrast, no significant change in BMD was observed in the experimental group. 2. The Osteoporosis Self-Efficacy was not significantly changed in both the experimental and control groups. 3. In the experimental group, the number of exercise participants and their exercise times were significantly increased. Also the amount of caffeine intake was significantly decreased.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of ipsilateral and contralateral load changes during single-leg standing on the leg muscle activities of healthy people. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: For all the subjects, a load was randomly applied to the ipsilateral or the contralateral side. While the load was applied, the subject raised a hand and then performed single-leg standing for 10 seconds using the dominant side. Results: During single-leg standing, the muscle activity of the gluteus medius, peroneus longus on the supporting side increased statistically significantly when an upper limb load was applied contralaterally, but no statistically significant differences were detected in the muscle activities of the tibialis anterior and the gastrocnemius using a test of within-subjects effects. Conclusion: It can be seen that muscle activities increase during exercise when the amount and frequency of a load are increased and when the same load is applied to different sides of the body. Such muscle activity increases may be applied to change the intensity of exercise when one is in a static posture, such as during single-leg standing.
