  • Surface roughness is one of the most important parameters to estimate quality of products. As this reason so many studies were car-ried out through various attempts that were contact or non-contact using computer vision. Even through these efforts there were few good results in this research., however texture analysis making a important role to solve these problems in various fields including universe aviation living thing and fibers. In this study feature value of co-occurrence matrix was calculated by statistic method and roughness value of worked surface was classified, of it. Experiment was carried out using input vector of neural network with characteristic value of texture calculated from worked surface image. It's found that recognition rate of 74% was obtained when adapting texture features. In order to enhance recogni-tion rate combination type in characteristics value of texture was changed into input vector. As a result high recognition rate of 92.6% was obtained through these processes.

  • In the video retrieval system, visual clues of still images and motion information of video are employed as feature vectors. We generate the temporal textures to express the motion information whose properties are simple expression, easy to compute. We make those temporal textures of wavelet coefficients to express motion information, M components. Then, temporal texture feature vectors are extracted using spatial texture feature vectors, i.e. spatial gray-level dependence. Also, motion amount and motion centroid are computed from temporal textures. Motion trajectories provide the most important information for expressing the motion property. In our modeling system, we can extract the main motion trajectory from the temporal textures.

  • We present an image retrieval method for improving retrieval performance by effective fusion of entropy features in wavelet region and wavelet moments. In this method, entropy features are sensitive to the local variation of gray level and well extract valley and edges. These features are effectively applied to contend-based image retrieval by well fusing to wavelet moments that represent texture property in multi-resolution. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. We use Corel Draw Photo DB. Experiment results show that the proposed yields 11% better performance for Corel Draw Photo DB over wavelet moments method.

  • Content based Image retrieval methods in the multimedia information retrievals use primary visual features such as color, texture and shape. Color and texture generally are used as features of the image retrieval systems. But these systems may produce errors in similar image retrieval because two images with different shapes can represent very different contents. Therefore, the use of shape describing features is essential in an efficient content based image retrieval system. In this paper, after the global features filtering process by the boundary of objects, we have created a better shape similarity image retrieval system by a histogram of shape information.

  • The MPEG-7 standard defines a set of descriptors that extracts low-level features such as color, texture and object shape from an image and generates metadata in order to represent these extracted information. But the matching performance for image mining ma y not be satisfactory by u sing only on e of these features. Rather than by combining these features we can achieve a better query performance. In this paper we propose a new image retrieval technique for image mining that combines the features extracted from MPEG-7 visual color and texture descriptors. Specifically, we use only some specifications of Scalable Color Descriptor (SCD) and Non-Homogeneous Texture Descriptor also known as Edge Histogram Descriptor (EHD) for the implementation of the color and edge histograms respectively. MPEG-7 standard defines $l_{1}$-norm based matching in EHD and SCD. But in our approach, for distance measurement, we achieve a better result by using cosine similarity coefficient for color histograms and Euclidean distance for edge histograms. Our approach toward this system is more experimental based than hypothetical.

  • As reproduction of images can be done with ease, copy detection has increasingly become important. In the duplication process, image modifications are likely to occur and some alterations are deliberate and can be viewed as attacks. A wide range of copy detection techniques has been proposed. In our study, content-based copy detection, which basically applies DCT-based features for images, namely, pixel values, edges, texture information and frequency-domain component distribution, is employed. Experiments are carried out to evaluate robustness and sensitivity of DCT-based features from attacks. As different types of DCT-based features hold different pieces of information, how features and attacks are related can be shown in their robustness and sensitivity. Rather than searching for proper features, use of robustness and sensitivity is proposed here to realize how the attacked features have changed when an image attack occurs. The experiments show that, out of ten attacks, the neural networks are able to detect seven attacks namely, Gaussian noise, S&P noise, Gamma correction (high), blurring, resizing (big), compression and rotation with mostly related to their sensitive features.

  • In this paper, we present a hybrid approach which incorporates color, texture and shape in content-based image retrieval. Colors in each image are clustered into a small number of representative colors. The feature descriptor consists of the representative colors and their percentages in the image. A similarity measure similar to the cumulative color histogram distance measure is defined for this descriptor. The co-occurrence matrix as a statistical method is used for texture analysis. An optimal set of five statistical functions are extracted from the co-occurrence matrix of each image, in order to render the feature vector for eachimage maximally informative. The edge information captured within edge histograms is extracted after a pre-processing phase that performs color transformation, quantization, and filtering. The features where thus extracted and stored within feature vectors and were later compared with an intersection-based method. The content-based retrieval system is tested to be effective in terms of retrieval and scalability through experimental results and precision-recall analysis.

  • In this paper, we propose a new texture-based page segmentation and classification method in which table region, background region, image region and text region in a given document image are automatically identified. The proposed method for document images consists of two stages, document segmentation and contents classification. In the first stage, we segment the document image, and then, we classify contents of document in the second stage. The proposed classification method is based on a texture analysis. Each contents in the document are considered as regions with different textures. Thus the problem of classification contents of document can be posed as a texture segmentation and analysis problem. Two-dimensional Gabor filters are used to extract texture features for each of these regions. Our method does not assume any a priori knowledge about content or language of the document. As we can see experiment results, our method gives good performance in document segmentation and contents classification. The proposed system is expected to apply such as multimedia data searching, real-time image processing.

  • In this paper, we propose a texture classification using wavelet-domain BDIP (block difference of inverse probabilities) and BVLC (block variance of local correlation coefficients) features with WPCA (whitened principal component analysis) classifier. In the proposed method, the wavelet transform is first applied to a query image. The BDIP and BVLC operators are next applied to the wavelet subbands. Global moments for each subband of BDIP and BVLC are then computed and fused into a feature vector. In classification, the WPCA classifier, which is usually adopted in the face identification, searches the training feature vector most similar to the query feature vector. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields excellent texture classification with low feature dimension for test texture image DBs.

  • In this paper, I proposes a method for performing single image super resolution by separating texture-spatial domains and then classifying features based on detailed information. In CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) based super resolution, the complex procedures and generation of redundant feature information in feature estimation process for enhancing details can lead to quality degradation in super resolution. The proposed method reduced procedural complexity and minimizes generation of redundant feature information by splitting input image into two channels: texture and spatial. In texture channel, a feature refinement process with step-wise skip connections is applied for detail restoration, while in spatial channel, a method is introduced to preserve the structural features of the image. Experimental results using proposed method demonstrate improved performance in terms of PSNR and SSIM evaluations compared to existing super resolution methods, confirmed the enhancement in quality.
