Lately, a large amount of textual data have been poured out of the Internet and the technology to refine them is needed. Most of these data are long text and often have no title. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a technique to combine the sequence-to-sequence model of RNN and the REINFORCE algorithm to generate the title of the long text automatically. In addition, the TextRank algorithm was applied to extract a summarized text to minimize information loss in order to protect the shortcomings of the sequence-to-sequence model in which an information is lost when long texts are used. Through the experiment, the techniques proposed in this study are shown to be superior to the existing ones.

While Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) have seen huge success in image synthesis tasks, synthesizing high-quality images from text descriptions is a challenging problem in computer vision. This paper proposes a method named Text-to-Face Generation Using Multi-Scale Gradients for Conditional Generative Adversarial Networks (T2F-MSGGANs) that combines GANs and a natural language processing model to create human faces has features found in the input text. The proposed method addresses two problems of GANs: model collapse and training instability by investigating how gradients at multiple scales can be used to generate high-resolution images. We show that T2F-MSGGANs converge stably and generate good-quality images.

Automatic text classification has a long history and many studies have been conducted in this field. In particular, many machine learning algorithms and information retrieval techniques have been applied to text classification tasks. Even though much technical progress has been made in text classification, there is still room for improvement in text classification. In this paper, we will discuss remaining issues in improving text classification. In this paper, three improvement issues are presented including automatic training data generation, noisy data treatment and term weighting and indexing, and four actual studies and their empirical results for those issues are introduced. First, the semi-supervised learning technique is applied to text classification to efficiently create training data. For effective noisy data treatment, a noisy data reduction method and a robust text classifier from noisy data are developed as a solution. Finally, the term weighting and indexing technique is revised by reflecting the importance of sentences into term weight calculation using summarization techniques.

This study proposes a method to assist webtoon artists in the process of webtoon creation by utilizing a pretrained Text-to-Image model to generate webtoon images from text. The proposed approach involves fine-tuning a pretrained Stable Diffusion model using a webtoon dataset transformed into the desired webtoon style. The fine-tuning process, using LoRA technique, completes in a quick training time of approximately 4.5 hours with 30,000 steps. The generated images exhibit the representation of shapes and backgrounds based on the input text, resulting in the creation of webtoon-like images. Furthermore, the quantitative evaluation using the Inception score shows that the proposed method outperforms DCGAN-based Text-to-Image models. If webtoon artists adopt the proposed Text-to-Image model for webtoon creation, it is expected to significantly reduce the time required for the creative process.
When a person sees a sentence and understands the sentence, the person understands the sentence by reminiscent of the main word in the sentence as an image. Text-to-image is what allows computers to do this associative process. The previous deep learning-based text-to-image model extracts text features using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) and bi-directional LSTM, and generates an image by inputting it to the GAN. The previous text-to-image model uses basic embedding in text feature extraction, and it takes a long time to train because images are generated using several modules. Therefore, in this research, we propose a method of extracting features by using the attention mechanism, which has improved performance in the natural language processing field, for sentence embedding, and generating an image by inputting the extracted features into the GAN. As a result of the experiment, the inception score was higher than that of the model used in the previous study, and when judged with the naked eye, an image that expresses the features well in the input sentence was created. In addition, even when a long sentence is input, an image that expresses the sentence well was created.
Text summarization is the task of producing a shorter version of a long document while accurately preserving the main contents of the original text. Abstractive summarization generates novel words and phrases using a language generation method through text transformation and prior-embedded word information. However, newly coined words or out-of-vocabulary words decrease the performance of automatic summarization because they are not pre-trained in the machine learning process. In this study, we demonstrated an improvement in summarization quality through the contextualized embedding of BERT with out-of-vocabulary masking. In addition, explicitly providing precise pointing and an optional copy instruction along with BERT embedding, we achieved an increased accuracy than the baseline model. The recall-based word-generation metric ROUGE-1 score was 55.11 and the word-order-based ROUGE-L score was 39.65.

Text steganography combined with natural language generation has become increasingly popular. The existing methods usually embed secret information in the generated word by controlling the sampling in the process of text generation. A candidate pool will be constructed by greedy strategy, and only the words with high probability will be encoded, which damages the statistical law of the texts and seriously affects the security of steganography. In order to reduce the influence of the candidate pool on the statistical imperceptibility of steganography, we propose a steganography method based on a new sampling strategy. Instead of just consisting of words with high probability, we select words with relatively small difference from the actual sample of the language model to build a candidate pool, thus keeping consistency with the probability distribution of the language model. What's more, we encode the candidate words according to their probability similarity with the target word, which can further maintain the probability distribution. Experimental results show that the proposed method can outperform the state-of-the-art steganographic methods in terms of security performance.

Text augmentation is a methodology that creates new augmented texts by transforming or generating original texts for the purpose of improving the performance of NLP models. However existing text augmentation techniques have limitations such as lack of expressive diversity semantic distortion and limited number of augmented texts. Recently text augmentation using large language models and few-shot learning can overcome these limitations but there is also a risk of noise generation due to incorrect generation. In this paper, we propose a text augmentation method called TAGS that generates multiple candidate texts and selects the appropriate text as the augmented text. TAGS generates various expressions using few-shot learning while effectively selecting suitable data even with a small amount of original text by using contrastive learning and similarity comparison. We applied this method to task-oriented chatbot data and achieved more than sixty times quantitative improvement. We also analyzed the generated texts to confirm that they produced semantically and expressively diverse texts compared to the original texts. Moreover, we trained and evaluated a classification model using the augmented texts and showed that it improved the performance by more than 0.1915, confirming that it helps to improve the actual model performance.
In this paper, we present a method of generating intonation contour for Korean text-to-speech (TTS) system and a method of synthesizing emotional speech, both based on Soft template mark-up language (Stem-ML), a novel prosody generation model combining mark-up tags and pitch generation in one. The evaluation shows that the intonation contour generated by Stem-ML is better than that by our previous work. It is also found that Stem-ML is a useful tool for generating emotional speech, by controling limited number of tags. Large-size emotional speech database is crucial for more extensive evaluation.
