A compact imaging spectrometer (COMIS) for use in the STSAT3 microsatellite is currently under development. It is scheduled to be launched into a low Sun-synchronous Earth orbit (${\sim}700km$) by the end of 2010. COMIS was inspired by the success of CHRIS, which is a small hyperspectral imager developed for the ESA microsatellite PROBA. COMIS is designed to achieve nearly equivalent imaging capabilities of CHRIS in a smaller (65 mm diameter and 4.3 kg mass) and mechanically superior (in terms of alignment and robustness) package. Its main operational goal will be the imaging of Earth's surface and atmosphere with ground sampling distances of ${\sim}30m$ at the $18{\sim}62$ spectral bands ($4.0{\sim}1.05{\mu}m$). This imaging will be used for environmental monitoring, such as the in-land water quality monitoring of Paldang Lake, which is located next to Seoul, South Korea. The optics of COMIS consists of two parts: imaging telescope and dispersing relay optics. The imaging telescope, which operates at an f-ratio of 4.6, forms an image (of Earth's surface or atmosphere) onto an intermediate image plane. The dispersion relay optics disperses the image and relay it onto a CCD plane. All COMIS lenses and mirrors are spherical and are made from used silica exclusively. In addition, the optics is designed such that the optical axis of the dispersed image is parallel to the optical axis of the telescope. Previous efforts focused on manufacturing ease, alignment, assembly, testing, and improved robustness in space environments.
The objective of this research is to investigate the impact of engine oil aging on PM(Particulate Matter), exhaust gases, and DPF. It is widely known that the specification of a lubricant and its consumption in an ICE considerably influences the release of regulated harmful emissions under normal engine operating conditions. Considering DPF clogging phenomena associated with lubricant-derived soot/ash components, a simulated aging mode is designed for DPF to facilitate engine dynamometer testing. A PM/ash accumulation cycle is developed by considering real-world engine operating conditions for the increment of engine oil consumption and natural DPF regeneration for ash accumulation. The test duration for DPF aging is approximately 300 h with high- and low-SAPs engine oils. Detailed engine lubricant properties of new and aged oils are analyzed to evaluate the effect of engine oil degradation on vehicle mileage. Furthermore, physical and chemical analyses are performed using X-CT, ICP, and TGA/DSC to quantify the engine oil contribution on the PM composition. This is achieved by sampling with various filters using specially designed PM sampling equipment. Using high SAPs engine oil causes more PM/ash accumulation compared with low SAPs engine oils and this could accelerate fouling of the EGR in the engine, which results in an increase in harmful exhaust gas emissions. These test results on engine lubricants under operating conditions will assist in the establishment of regulated and unregulated toxic emissions policies and lubricant quality standards.
Recently, as the weight of software in the weapon system increases, the quality of the software becomes a very important factor. In order to improve the quality of the weapon system software, DAPA(Defense Acquisition Program Administration) has institutionalized software reliability in Weapon System Software Development and Management Manual. The manual presents specific methods and procedures to improve the weapon system software quality. In order to meet the required reliability test standards specified in the manual, it is necessary to continuously detect and correct defects throughout the entire development period. However, it is difficult to build proper reliability test environment due to the cost of software reliability tools, setting up secured and separated network environment, and etc. Therefore, in this study, we propose an efficient environment construction method for software reliability test of defense industry field in restricted development environment and limited resources.
Today many companies are offering IoT-enabled products and place emphasis on security from the planning stage to protect their products and user information from external threats. The present security levels, however, remain low because the time and resources invested in developing security requirements for each device are far from enough to meet the needs of a wide range of IoT products. Nevertheless, vulnerabilities of IoT devices have been reported continuously, which calls for more detailed security requirements for home IoT devices. In this context, this research identified threats of home IoT systems by using Microsoft Threat Modeling Tool. It then suggested measures to enhance the security of home IoT devices by developing security assessment items through comparative analysis of the identified threats, domestic and global vulnerability assessment standards and related research. It also verified the effectiveness of the developed security requirements by testing them against the existing ones, and the results revealed the security requirements developed in this research proved to be more effective in identifying vulnerabilities.
At present, the ground anchor method is commonly applied to securing the slope stability in Korea. The ground anchor is reported to decrease in tensile load due to aging and environmental influences with time such as corrosion, relaxation, creep and so on. In Korea, the lift-off test is performed for the periodic inspection or cases when the symptoms of deterioration on anchors and the residual tensile load of the anchors is checked. However, the current lift-off test standard (MOLIT, 2010) is not fully specified in details. In this study, the factors affecting the lift-off test were investigated based on the previous research and foreign standards and lift-off tests were performed with consideration for the loading and unloading cycle, load increment method, and tensioning tendon method. Based on the results, this paper proposes improved testing and evaluation procedures of the lift-off test considering the workability and time limits in the field.
This study developed safety clothing that is essential for adolescent to protect their bodies from accidents, pursue activities and individuality. Therefore, the developed safety clothing was first based on international standards, while changing design to emphasize creativity, activity, and functionality. Two suits of boy's clothes and a girl's suit were developed as safety clothing for sportswear, along with two pairs of girl's clothes and a pair of boy's clothes for entertainment. It was confirmed that the difference in visibility was revealed by testing under different lighting conditions. Second, the survey on adolescents indicated no significant gender difference in sportswear. Round shirt+shorts for both boys and girls were the most preferred for ball game sportswear. However, there was a significant difference by gender in the design of safety clothing for entertainment. Male students preferred jump suit=cape+pants the most, and female students preferred jump suit>cape+pants in the order (p<0.05). In the safety clothes with the highest preference for entertainment, there was no gender difference. All students preferred the jump suit at the most. Checking at each school level, it was found that both middle and high school students preferred jump suit designs, and in safety clothing, middle school students preferred high-neck shirt blouse+tight skirt, and high school students preferred jump suits. Third, 35.5% responded that they would wear it more if current safety clothing is improved. This indicated the necessity of developing various safety clothing for adolescence.

In this study, an actual test procedure was considered for the effective operation of a bulletproof test. The problems of the existing system were drawn in two ways. First, it is difficult to mount items of various shapes. Second, various test standards cannot be applied. To improve these problems, an automated and standardized mounting system was designed/applied to mount various items. The multi-purpose mount was compatible with the backing support for body armor testing. The sample holding frame was located inside and was designed to mount samples of various sizes and shapes through vertical movement and fixation without a separate detachment/attachment process. A comparison of the economics before and after the introduction of the item mounting system confirmed the effectiveness of the system by the increased number of daily tests and equipment utilization and reduced hourly cost.
Objective: Spent ginger is a byproduct of juice extraction from the rhizome of ginger (Zingiber officinale). Despite its nutritional value, it is difficult to preserve or further process and thus is often wasted. This study uses spent ginger as a substrate for fermentation and cultivates spent ginger yeast cultures (SGYCs) that are then added to the feed of laying hens. The effects of SGYCs on production performance, egg quality, serum composition, and intestinal microbiota of laying hens were investigated. Methods: Eighty 60-week-old Hy-Line Brown hens were separated into 5 experimental groups with 4 replicates per group (4 hens per cage, 4 cages per replicate). The control group was fed a basal diet while experimental groups were also given SGYCs at the levels of 5, 10, 20, and 40 g/kg for 6 weeks. Results: The addition of SGYCs significantly increased the laying rate and nutrient digestibility, decreased feed conversion ratio, and enhanced the color of egg yolks (p<0.05). No changes were observed in activity levels of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase in the serum (p>0.05), but the activities of superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and peroxidase all significantly increased, and contents of malondialdehyde were significantly reduced (p<0.05). In addition, changes in the relative abundance of Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes might be the main factor contributing to the significant increase in the apparent digestibility of crude protein and crude fat in laying hens (p<0.05). Conclusion: The current evidence shows that dietary supplementation of SGYCs to the feed of laying hens can improve laying rates, enhance antioxidative defenses, and influence dominant intestinal bacteria.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accessibility of the Cakewalk SI-Drum for the screen reader users. An evaluation was performed by testing the accessibility of the [Virtual Instrument Editing] that is a part of MIDI Production of the NCS(National Competency Standards) by using the SI-Drum and the Sense Reader. The results of this study are as follows. The SI-Drum has almost no basic accessibility for the screen users to do an above task. But the screen reader users can perform the tasks by using Sense Reader's Mouse Pointer function and Position Memory function. To use SI-Drum more efficiently, SI-Drum's basic accessibility have to be provided fully. Several suggestions are proposed to develop a fully accessible SI-Drum for the screen users.
In this paper, through experimental research, the period when rock bolts exert support effects is presented as grout strength and through numerical analysis, the rock bolt pull-out behavior according to ground conditions and strength reduction factors is analyzed. As a result, it is determined that rock bolts exhibit their reinforcing effect at a grout strength of 5 MPa (cured for 18 hours). The influence of the boundary interface strength reduction factor was found to be significant for rock bolt displacement in weak ground conditions, for shear stress between grout and ground in highly elastic ground conditions, and for grout stress in all ground conditions. These findings are expected to contribute to the establishment of specific standards for rock bolt testing and numerical analysis, and to facilitate improved design and implementation of rock bolt reinforcement.
