  • This study aims to explore the possible ways to establish the effective medical supports for the sexual violence victims(svv). Using the data collected from 83 male and female doctors who are interested or involved in providing medical services for the victims, the doctors' attitudes toward the victims, medical services provided, and their needs for the possible medical supports were investigated. For comparison, 3 different groups of doctors were presented. The doctors who had treated svv(type1) seemed to have a difficulty in receiving the fee for the treatment of svv, and to have higher needs for the spermatic(fluid) test as well as the diverse supports for the testimony in courts. The doctors who had no experience of treatment, but were supposed to treat svv(type2) seemed to have negative attitudes toward the victims, and expect more difficulties in treating svv. The doctors of type2 had lower needs for the support for the specialized medical services and assessment of the sexual assault, but higher needs for the testimony supports. The doctors who had no experience of treatment, and were not supposed to treat svv(type3) appeared to have less negative attitudes toward the victims, but more knowledge of law and the community organizations for svv. The type3 doctors seemed to have higher needs for the supports for the specialized medical services, assessment for the sexual assault, and testimony in the courts. Based on the findings, the intervention strategies to create a new effective medical support system for the sexual violence victims were suggested.

  • The purpose of the present study was to examine effects of different exercise training modes (Aerobic Training, Resistance Training) on exercise specificity and transability. The tested subjects, composed of 10 healthy males without known family history or medical illnesses, were divided into two groups: Aerobic Training Group (ATG; n=5) and Resistance Training Group (RTG; n=5). An aerobic training program, based on maximum oxygen consumption rates taken during standard testing, was conducted in 60 minute sessions 3 times a week, and the Heart Rate Reserve (HRR) at 70% of maximum oxygen consumption rate was measured the using Polar. In the weight training program, based on repetition maximum rate (1-RM) taken during standard testing, the weight at 70% of such rates was measured during 60 minute sessions of 7 categories of exercise (Bench press, Leg press, Squat, Shoulder press, Arm curt Lat pull down, Triceps pull down), conducted 3 times a week. The data collected from this research were calculated to obtain average and differences compared to standards using an SPSS 11.0 statistics package. In conclusion, increase in V0$_{2max}$ and production of NO$_x$ (NO$_2$/NO$_3$), reduction of %fat, MAPwere shown effective in aerobic training and in different exercise tests, and aerobic testing within the aerobic training group (ATG) was shown to be more effective. In contrast, resistance training was shown to be more effective for the reduction of CK and LDH, and even in different tests, the resistance test within the resistance training group (RTG) showed to be more effective. Exercise specificity also significantly increased in both groups (ATG, RTG). but there was no significant difference in transability in both groups (ATG, RTG).

  • This study was undertaken to identify the musculotendinous problems and contributing factors to those problems In students majoring in musical instruments in Korea. The data were collected from March 2, 1996 to March 31, 1996 from 261 music students in various geographical areas. The data were analyzed for descriptive statistics, t-test, chi-square using SPSS $PC^+$ program. The results of this study were as follows : 1. In a questionnaire survey of 261 music students, one hundred twenty five(47.9%) reported having had various musculotendinous symptoms. Twenty seven students among the those who had previous symptoms(21.9%) reported the present symptoms. 2. The experience rates of musculotendinous problems in keyboard players, string players and woodwind players were 50.3%, 48.2%, 33.3% respectively. 3. Most of the students practiced most intensively during their high school years and the musculotendinous symptoms began at the same period. 4. Pain, tenderness and stiffness were the most common symptoms, while paresthesia and motor dysfunction were rare. This indicates that most players had muscle tendinous overuse, while small number had nerve entrapment and motor dysfunction. 5. In past and present symptoms, string players experienced musculotendinous symptoms mainly in both sides of shoulders, lumbar area, left finger, and left wrist, while keyboard players experienced more symptoms in the right wrist, shoulder, fingers than left side. 6. The major contributing factors to the symptoms were weight of instrument, types of instruments, types of daily activities, duration of practice, and playing technique. 7 The most frequent treatment modalities for the symptoms were acupuncture or moxibustion, other alternative therapy such as heat compress and massage. Through this study it was found that the musculotendinous problems might be increased along with their career, due to lack of knowledge about preventive measures and patterns of health behavior seeking alternative modalities rather than professional consultation. Therefore, preventive measures that focus on playing habits such as duration of practice, frequency of rest and position while playing should be developed and taught to the students, their parents, and music educators. Doctors who are interested in this area should attempt to correct the position and posture while playing of the posture. And measures for reduction of loading of instrument weight should also be developed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the differences between the level of satisfaction and concern regarding appearance according to gender, the importance of appearance in job interviews, and the influence appearance has on job-seeking stress and anxiety under the ever-increasing pressure on students to secure employment so that appropriate psychological interventions can be provided to undergraduates. Methods: The survey was conducted on 170 third and fourth year undergraduates in Gyeonggi province from August 31st to September 6th, 2012 to figure out the correlations and differences in variables of appearance satisfaction and concern, and the importance of appearance in job interviews and job-seeking stress and anxiety according to the differences in gender. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test, two-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation analysis. Results: 1. There was difference between the genders for appearance satisfaction and concern. The level of satisfaction was higher in male students while concerns regarding appearance were higher in female students. There was no gender difference regarding the importance of appearance in job interviews, job-seeking stress, and job-seeking anxiety. 2. For the concerns in appearance, there was a significant difference between the genders in appearance management, and gender and the importance of appearance in job interviews showed significant interactive effects. Stress and anxiety from job-seeking did not show significant differences between the genders, but there were common significant interactive effects between gender and grades, gender and employment, and gender and the importance of appearance in job interviews. 3. Both male and female students showed higher job-seeking stress as their job-seeking anxiety was higher. Job-seeking anxiety was higher in male students who had higher concern in appearance, and in female students who placed more emphasis on the importance of appearance in job interviews. Conclusion: As female students perceived appearance in job interviews as important more than male students, their job-seeking anxiety was higher, while male students who showed higher concern in appearance also showed higher level of anxiety in job-seeking. As job-seeking anxiety was higher, job-seeking stress was also higher according to the entire participants, based on this result, methods to decrease job-seeking anxiety should be suggested.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between mothers' childhood experiences, satisfaction as a parent, spousal support in parenting and their children's perception of their child-rearing practices. The subjects were 321 fifth and sixth graders from two elementary schools in Seoul and their mothers. A revised version of the Mother-Father Peer Scale (MFPS; Epstein, 1983) was used to assess the mothers' child experiences. To measure parental satisfaction, the Parent Satisfaction Scale (PSS; Duke, Rose, & Halverson, 1997) was revised and used. A modified version of the Teamwork of Parenting Alliance Inventory (PAI; Abidin, 1988) was used to assess spousal support in parenting. A modified version of the Child-rearing Behaviors Questionaire (Park, 1995) was used to assess the mothers' child-rearing practices. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and a t-test. The results of this study were as follows. 1) Mothers who received a greater degree of independence encouragement and acceptance from their fathers tended to show more warmth/acceptance in their child-rearing practices than those who received a lesser degree of independence encouragement and acceptance from their fathers. Mothers who received a greater degree of independence encouragement from their own mothers tended to show more warmth/acceptance of their children but less permissiveness/nonintervention and rejection/restriction in their child-rearing practices when compared to those who received a lesser degree of independence encouragement from their own mothers. The mothers who received a greater degree of acceptance from their own mothers tended to show more warmth/acceptance of their children but less rejection/restriction in their child-rearing practices when compared to those who received a lesser degree of acceptance from their own mothers. 2) Mothers who had a greater degree of satisfaction as a parent tended to show more warmth/acceptance but less rejection/restriction in their child-rearing practices than those who had a lesser degree of satisfaction in parenting. 3) Mothers who received a greater degree of spousal support in parenting showed more warmth/acceptance in their child-rearing practices than those who received a lesser degree of spousal support.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the drinking status, health behaviors, health related quality of life and depression among female problem drinkers and to examine the impact of their health behavior and health related quality of life on depression. The data of this study were derived from the 5th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted during January 2010-December 2012. As for the subjects of this study, 328 female problem drinkers were selected who were classified as those with 8 or higher scores in the AUDIT, and complex samples analysis was conducted using the IBM SPSS Statistics version 21.0 software package. The study result showed that the risk of experiencing depression increased among subjects with a high level of perceived stress and subjects with a low level of health related quality of life. In addition, the risk of experiencing depression increased among subjects with 1-4 hours of sleep time compared to subjects with 8 or more hours of sleep time. Accordingly, it would be necessary to pay attention to stress, sleep time and health related quality of life that are related influencing factors for the improvement of depression and mental health of Korean female problem drinkers.
