Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test the validity of the Korean version of the Nurses' Involvement in Dying Patients and Family Care (NIDPFC) instrument. Methods: Data were collected from 410 registered nurses at a university hospital, general hospitals, and a convalescent hospital. Data were collected from June 23 to July 17, 2020. Internal consistency reliability, construct validity, and criterion validity were examined using the SPSS and AMOS software. Results: Of the 35 preliminary items of the instrument, 24 items were finally selected after evaluating the content validity, analyzing the items, and assessing construct validity. The following four factors were derived: "burden" (seven items), "deep involvement" (eight items), "resilience" (five items), and "empathy" (four items), with a cumulative explanatory variance of 55.2%. For criterion validity, a significant positive relationship was found between the NIDPFC and attitudes toward caring for the dying. For internal consistency reliability, the Cronbach's α was 0.82. Conclusion: The validity and reliability of the NIDPFC were verified. Therefore, the NIDPFC is an effective instrument to use in further studies.

The purpose of this study was to point out the problems of the competency exam for college education, a new college entrance exam, and to suggest the improvement ideas for it For this purpose, the test items of science inquiry were taken from the first, the second and the third pilot studies of the competency exam for college education which National Institute of Educational Evaluation had done. These tests were administered to 1,223 students of the general high school(422 for the 1st 400 for the 2nd, and 401 for the 3rd test). Also, those students' and the high school science teacher's opinions about the tests and the new college entrance exam were surveyed. The evaluation objectives of those test items were analyzed and the test item analyses were done. But, those items were unevenly distributed into a few areas of the evaluation framework. (2) The boys had higher mean scores than the girls in all of the tests, but these differences were not statistically significant. The natural science course students had significantly higher mean than the humanities course students in all of the test:(1st, F=12.643, p=0.0004 ; 2nd, F=45.757, p=0.0001 ; 3rd, F=36.162, p=0.0001). A significant interaction of sex and course was found in only 1st test( F=11.352. p=0.0008). (3) Most students answered the test was difficult and they needed more time to finish it Also, they added they had to study in a different way from the traditional one in order to prepare the new college entrance exam. Science teachers answered that those evaluation objectives of the tests corresponded well with the educational objectives of high school science and that the tests were suitable as measuring instruments of the scientific thinking abilities. But they pointed out it would be very difficult for them to teach students for preparing the exam under the exsting educational conditions. To carry out successfully the competency exam for college education, the following improvements were suggested. (1) Good evaluation methodology should be developed. (2) In-service science teacher training models on evaluation should be put in force. (3) Effective teaching models and strategies should be developed.(4) The high school science curriculum should be revised.
This study is a methodological research study to develop an instrument to measure in patients with cancer and to test the validity and reliability of the instrument. The research procedure was as follows : 1) The first step was to develop conceptual framework based on a comprehensive review of the literature and in-depth interviews with patients with cancer. This conceptual framework was organized in to three dimensions (the intrapersonal dimension, the significant-other and context related dimension, the transcendental dimension). Initially 59 items were adopted. 2) These items were analyzed through the index of content validity(CVI) and 53 items were selected which met more than 80% on the CVI. 3) The pretest was carried out with 87 patients with cancer. After the pretest results were analyzed by item analysis, 44 items were selected. A second test of content validity was conducted and 6 items were eliminated considering the 80% CVI. 4) To test for reliability and validity, data collection was done during the period from January 25, 1999, to February 26, 1999. The subjects for the test were 160 patients with cancer and 185 healthy persons. analysis, item analysis and multitrait-multimethod method to analyze validity. The findings are as follows : 1) The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for internal consistency was .92 for the total 38 items and .79, .82, .85, for the three dimensions in that order. 2) The item analysis was based on the corrected item to total correlation coefficient( .30 or more) and information about the alpha estimate if this item was dropped from the scale. 3) As a result of the initial factor analysis using principal component analysis and varimax rotation, one item was deleted because of factor complexity (indiscriminate factor loadings). In the secondary factor analysis, 7 factors with eigenvalue of more than 1.0 were extracted and these factors explained 56 percents of the total variance. The seven factors were labeled as 'family relationship', 'emotional condition', 'physical discomfort', 'meaning and goal of life', 'contextual stimuli', 'change of body image', 'guilt feelings'. 4) The convergence effect between this instrument and the life satisfaction scale was identified and there was significant positive correlation(r= .52, p= .00). The discriminant validity between this instrument and the depression scale(CES-D) was tested and there was significant negative correlation(r= -.50, p= .00). The instrument for accessing the suffering of patients with cancer developed in this study was identified as a tool with a high degree of reliability and validity. In this sense, this tool can be effectively utilized for assessment in caring for patients with cancer.
In this study, revisions of university entrance exams of mathematics in the UK, Australia and Japan are investigated. In the UK, A-level mathematics are revised to harmonize pure and applied mathematics so that the subjects and contents of each test are adjusted, and new types of items are announced. NSW university entrance exams in Australia are being revised in line with the Stronger Higher School Certificate policy, which basically reinforces mathematics. In Japan, as part of the educational reforms that link high schools and universities, current exams of National Center for University Entrance Examinations are abolished and Common Test for University Entrance is introduced. Mathematics of new test emphasizes comprehension, judgement and expression with new items and short-answer questions. Based on the case of the UK, Australia and Japan, this study discussed improvement of mathematics test in the Collage Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) Korea in terms of objects and characteristics of test, systems and types of items. and support from academia.
Astronomy is a good area to introduce a student to the study of science. The student often questions what causes the change in seasons, in the day and right, and in the rotation of stars, etc. Attempts to find answers to problems related to these astronomical observations influence the student`s intellectual development. This study is to investigate the effect of running an astronomical observations program on the preservice elementary teachers' astronomy achievement, astronomy teaching efficacy beliefs, and scientific attitude. Students consist of twenty four preservice elementary teachers. Three instruments are used: one is the astronomy achievement test, which is of an essay type, and 5 items. The other is the astronomy teaching efficacy beliefs test, which is of a Likert scale type, and 22 items. Another is the scientific attitude test, which is of the Likert scale type, and 10 items. Data are collected before and after instruction in the astronomical observations program, through the use of these tests. Data are compared. The results are: \circled1There is a significant difference between before and after instructions in the astronomy achievement test(t=11.31, p=000). \circled2There is a significant difference between before and after instructions in the astronomy teaching efficacy beliefs test(t=5.98, p=.000). \circled3There is a significant difference between before and after instructions in the scientific attitude test(t=270, pde. There fore, the a=.013). As a result, running an astronomical observations program has an effect on the preservice elementary teachers' astrono my achievement, astronomy teaching efficacy beliefs, and scientific attituuthor urges the teacher to teach astronomy through the astronomical observations in school.
The aims of this study were to examine the actual conditions surrounding the purchasing of online game items and Internet cyberspace items by adolescents the propensity of adolescents to consume these items, to determine the difference in the propensity for high and low consumption of these items among adolescents, and to investigate the characteristics of the adolescents who show a high propensity for the consumption of Internet items. The data for this study were collected from 483 adolescent consumers who were middle school and high school students in the city of Bucheon in Gyeonggi Province. The statistical methods used for the data analysis included frequency, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The results of the present study can be summarized as follows. The majority(79.5%) of the students surveyed had had the experience of purchasing items. Most students(67.5%) had a rare frequency of buying ($1{\sim}2$ times in a period of 6 months or less). Nearly half (47.9%) of the students spent less than 1000 won per month on the item(s) purchased. Most of the students purchased items with their parents' permission, but 26.6% of the students bought the items without their parents' permission. Most of the characteristics of the items purchased, such as the major item purchased, payment method, amount purchased per month, average amount spent per buying experience, and whether or not they had their parents' permission differed according to gender, grade level, record, and monthly allowance. The level of propensity to consume the items was not high. The propensity of imitation consumption (1.96) was lower than that of impulsive consumption (2.38) and conspicuous consumption (2.45). Most of the buying characteristics, including the major item purchased, payment method, amount purchased per month, average amount spent per buying experience, parents' permission, grade level, and monthly allowance were different between the high and low propensity for consumption groups.

Purpose: To develop Korean Menstrual Symptom Scale (KMSS) for university students and test its reliability and validity. Methods: The scale was developed by intensive literature review, development of preliminary items, verification of content validity, development of secondary items, verification of construct validity, and extraction of final items. Thirty-nine items were constructed. Data for validity and reliability testing were collected with a questionnaire survey from 391 university students. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and reliability coefficients (Cronbach's ${\alpha}$) with the SPSS program. Results: There were 37 final items which were sorted into six factors: 'negative affection (8 items)', 'change of activity level (7 items)', 'physical symptom (9 items)', 'mood change (9 items)', 'change in concentration level (4 items)', and 'body water retention (5 items)'. The cumulative percent of variance was 63.3%. Regarding the reliability of the scale, its Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was 0.96. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ values for these factors ranged from 0.75 to 0.91. Conclusion: The KMSS demonstrated acceptable validity and reliability. Repeated research is needed to measure menstrual symptom experienced by women of variable ages.

As the result of reduction of the barrier of national economy on matters of quality assurance of weighing instruments in recently, it is considering in domestic as well as international matters. Therefore, this study is to analysis and compare with international md national measuring standards on the electric self-indicating scale, to improve the quality of electronic machine by providing a reformation plan on currently problems of domestic manufactured, and to identify to introduce in domestic criteria from international standards. I had compared KSC 1313 to OIML R 76-1 as the performance assessment items, such as metrology Properties test, static temperature test, temperature effect testing under the un-load, electronic wave disturbance test, high-tempereature and high-humidity stability test and durability test. Therefore, only one company is passed all items of the test according to the international (reference) standards, but it is possible to improve the quality in general if it should be use the load cell and electric components which is stability of temperature change in order to supplementation to the static temperature test and temperature effect testing under the un-load. It is also possible to apply in the domestic with the OIML 76-1 after correcting the design.

The purpose of this study is to develope and analyze a test for the assessment of physics inquiry experiment. To do this, three experiments about 'analysis of motion', 'the relation of force and acceleration', and 'free fall motion' in high school physics textbooks were chosen, and 5 scientific inquiry domains and 16 science process skills have been specified. For each experiments, test sheet of $29{\sim}44$ questions for assessing students' ability about physics inquiry experiment were developed on the basis of the scientific inquiry processes developed earlier. After instruction about 3 experiments mentioned above, a test was administered to the students who took experiment. After the adminstration of a test, the ratio of correct answers, discrimination index, and reliability were analyzed. Using the ratio of correct answers, we can determine item difficulty. Through the D.I(discrimination index), we can find which items can discriminate the students who took experiment well from those who took experiment badly, and we can also find the stability of a test result by the reliability analysis. The test developed in this study were also administered to the students who did not take experiments, and the results were compared with the those of the students who took experiments. With the comparison by chi-square method, we could find which items can discriminate the students who took experiments from those who did not take experiments.
The purpose of this study was to find out women's need and level of knowledge about episiotomy, pain and discomfort related to episiotomy on a cross-sectional survey design. The subjects were 102 postpartal women agreed on oral consent. 34 postpartal women admitted at obstetric ward of H university hospital, 34 postpartal women admitted at 2 Sanhujoriwons, and 34 women within one year afterbirth. They were selected in Seoul, Korea. Data were collected from July, 1 to September 30, 2000, by a structured questionnaire. The instrument used for this study was a questionaire consisted of 5 items of general characteristics, 12 items of obstetric characteristics, 10 items of level of knowledge (Chronbach $\alpha$ .8176), 8 items of need of education(Chronbach $\alpha$ .8836), 3 items of pain (Chronbach $\alpha$ .9252), and 3 items of discomfort (Chronbach $\alpha$ .8092). The data were analyzed by the SPSS/PC+ program using t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe test as a post hoc and Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The results of the study were as follows; 1. 63.2% of respondents had right answer on 6-8 items among 10 items. Only 4.4% of women got right answer on 10 items all. 2. The need of education was high(4.45%) on all items and the range of score was $4.25{\sim}4.64$. 3. The strength of pain was the highest within one week afterbirth(5.93/10) and became lower in 8-14 days afterbirth(2.55). And after 15days of postpartum, the pain level became to the lowest level(1.08). However, pain was delayed until more than one month afterbirth. 4. The level of discomfort was the highest one week afterbirth(6.88/10) and became lower in 8-14 days afterbirth(4.20). And after 15days of postpartum, the discomfort level became to the lowest level(2.47). Universally, the degree of discomfort was higher than pain. 5. There was a strong positive correlation between discomforts and pain ($r=.752^{**}$) and weak positive correlation between discomforts and the level of educational need($r=.308^*$). In conclusion, women have a right to choose whether she will have episiotomy or not according to her decision making based on the comprehensive knowledge of episiotomy before they get episiotomy with consent process and explanation in detail. Women health care providers like nurses have a responsibility to do conscious raising and empowerment for women so that they could lead themselves to choose given medical treatments for women's health and wellbeing and the quality of life in her life cycle.
