Purpose: Japanese Apricot, a type of plum, has various medicinal and economical applications. Plums are quite popular worldwide, but their deseeding remains a serious impediment to their processing. Therefore, a plum (Japanese Apricot) seed remover (PSR) was developed that can use various types of cutters according to the purpose of the plum processing, and its performance was evaluated. Methods: The proposed PSR, which allows multipurpose cutters, namely, zero-, two-, and four-blade cutters, to be installed, was first designed and manufactured. To identify appropriate parameters related to the cutting pressure, plums were harvested from three regions during three harvesting periods, and their geometrical and mechanical properties were measured. After application of the parameters related to the cutting pressure, a performance test was carried out on both fresh and frozen plums by identifying the ratios of the flesh recovery, seed recovery, seed breakage, deseeding efficiency, and machine efficiency. Results: The results show that, using the proper calculation of the processing parameters, 100% deseeding efficiency was facilitated regardless of the type of cutter used. However, in the case of a four-blade cutter, there are significant differences in the flesh recovery ratio according to the plum setting angle. Between the fresh and frozen plums, all cutters showed a significantly better flesh recovery ratio for the case of fresh plums. Conclusions: This machine will advance the plum processing technology, and eventually help the plum industry flourish.

Recently, as work strength is deepened, as well, labor environments is changed, simple and iterative worker's Cumulative Trauma Disorders(CTD) is gradually being increased. Accordingly, this study was designed to represent its system design to carry out their iterative and simple task by machine through the difference of muscle fatigue between worker on handling line and worker under the work environments by Air Balance System for the purpose of analyzing their muscle fatigue test according to fulfillment of iterative and simple task. From the result of this study, with regard to the comparison of muscle fatigue between work on handling line and work on automation line on the occasion of refractory brick loading, their muscle fatigue extent under the work environments by Air Balance system was lower than it of handling by AMEG(64.1%), MF(65.3%), MPF(64.3%), ZCR(63.6%) respectively. And also, generally there showed similar transfer at the aspect of muscle mobilization. In other words, we can say that work environments by Air Balance System is beneficial at the aspect of alleviating works' fatigue extent on handling line. As well, the result of this study shows that worker's exposure to Cumulative Trauma Disorders(CTD) is relatively low.

This paper presents an investigation into the operational comparison of SPOT triangulation to build GCP library by analytical plotter and DPW (digital photogrammetric workstation). GCP database derived from current SPOT images can be used to other image sensors of satellite, if any reasons, such as lack of topographic maps or GCPs. But, general formulation of a photogrammetric process for GCP measurement has to take care of the scene interpretation problem. There are two classical methods depending on whether an analytical plotter or DPW is being used. Regardless of the method used, the measurement of GCPs is the weakest point in the automation of photogrammetric orientation procedures. To make an operational comparison, five models of SPOT panchromatic images (level 1A) and negative films (level 1AP) were used. Ten images and film products were used for the five GRS areas. Photogrammetric measurements were carried out in a manual mode on P2 analytical plotter and LH Systems DPW770. We presented an approach for exterior orientation of SPOT images, which was based on the use of approximately eighty national geodetic control points as GCPs which located on the summit of the mountain. Using sixteen well-spaced geodetic control points per model, all segments consistently showed RMS error just below the pixel at the check points in analytical instrument. In the case of DPW, half of the ground controls could not found or distinguished exactly when we displayed the image on the computer monitor. Experiment results showed that the RMS errors with DPW test was fluctuated case by case. And the magnitudes of the errors were reached more than three pixels due to the lack of image interpretation capability. It showed that the geodetic control points is not suitable as the ground control points in DPW for modeling the SPOT image.

Among the information technology and automation that have rapidly developed in the manufacturing industries recently, tens of thousands of quality variables are estimated and categorized in database every day. The former existing statistical methods, or variable selection and interpretation by experts, place limits on proper judgment. Accordingly, various data mining methods, including decision tree analysis, have been developed in recent years. Cart and C5.0 are representative algorithms for decision tree analysis, but these algorithms have limits in defining the tolerance of continuous explanatory variables. Also, target variables are restricted by the information that indicates only the quality of the products like the rate of defective products. Therefore it is essential to develop an algorithm that improves upon Cart and C5.0 and allows access to new quality information such as loss cost. In this study, a new algorithm was developed not only to find the major variables which minimize the target variable, loss cost, but also to overcome the limits of Cart and C5.0. The new algorithm is one that defines tolerance of variables systematically by adopting 3 categories of the continuous explanatory variables. The characteristics of larger-the-better was presumed in the environment of programming R to compare the performance among the new algorithm and existing ones, and 10 simulations were performed with 1,000 data sets for each variable. The performance of the new algorithm was verified through a mean test of loss cost. As a result of the verification show, the new algorithm found that the tolerance of continuous explanatory variables lowered loss cost more than existing ones in the larger is better characteristics. In a conclusion, the new algorithm could be used to find the tolerance of continuous explanatory variables to minimize the loss in the process taking into account the loss cost of the products.
Motion control systems are widely deployed in various industrial automation processes. The motion controller, which is a key element of motion control systems, has stringent real-time constraints. The controller must provide a short and deterministic control message transmission cycle, and minimize the actuation deviation among motor drives. To meet these requirements, hardware-based proprietary controllers have been prevalent. However, since it is becoming difficult for such an approach to meet increasing needs of system interoperability and scalability, nowadays, software-based universal motion controllers are regarded as their substitutes. Recently, embedded motion controller solutions are gaining attention due to low cost and relatively high performance. In this paper, we designed and implemented an embedded motion controller on an ARM-based evaluation board by using Xenomai real-time kernel and other open source software components. We also measured and analyzed the performance of our embedded controller under a realistic test-bed environment. The experimental results show that our embedded motion controller can provide relatively deterministic performance with synchronized control of three motor axis at 2 ms control cycle.

Game theory is a method of mathematical analysis developed to study the decision making process. In 1928, Von Neumann mathematically proved that every two-person, zero-sum game with many pure finite strategies for each player is deterministic. In the early 50's, Nash presented another concept as the basis for a generalization of Von Neumann's theorem. Another central achievement of game theory is the introduction of evolutionary game theory, by which agents can play optimal strategies in the absence of rationality. Through the process of Darwinian selection, a population of agents can evolve to an Evolutionary Stable Strategy (ESS) as introduced by Maynard Smith in 1982. Keeping pace with these game theoretical studies, the first computer simulation of coevolution was tried out by Hillis. Moreover, Kauffman proposed the NK model to analyze coevolutionary dynamics between different species. He showed how coevolutionary phenomenon reaches static states and that these states are either Nash equilibrium or ESS in game theory. Since studies concerning coevolutionary phenomenon were initiated, there have been numerous other researchers who have developed coevolutionary algorithms. In this paper we propose a new coevolutionary algorithm named Game theory based Coevolutionary Algorithm (GCEA) and we confirm that this algorithm can be a solution of evolutionary problems by searching the ESS. To evaluate this newly designed approach, we solve several test Multiobjective Optimization Problems (MOPs). From the results of these evaluations, we confirm that evolutionary game can be embodied by the coevolutionary algorithm and analyze the optimization performance of our algorithm by comparing the performance of our algorithm with that of other evolutionary optimization algorithms.
For manufacturing industry to achieve efficient manufacturing process, improving a company's productivity and reducing cost is a required task of the current manufacturing companies. For design of efficient manufacturing process and improvement of productivity, efficient manufacturing process method is studied through removal of unnecessary elements analyzing motions and using test-bed linkage system based on virtual reality. When building process line after verifying optimization through virtual process arrangement simulation in advance, it is available to save additional cost for process modification or supplement to result in practical effects of improving a company's manufacturing competition. Reducing design period, improving equipment, making automation, realizing ergonomics, and improving process through this study, it will be available to achieve improvement of productivity, enhancement of quality, cost reduction as well as employees' satisfaction for safety and health.
Gabion can be used for the purpose of preventing overflow of river and side loss of road. However the manufacturing process of the gabion is manually controlled especially to the joining process at the terminal part of gabion with small diameter wire. In this paper automatic feeding guide system was designed and fabricated to make automation. The fabricated system was tested in the factory level. Pneumatic system was considered as the main idea of the feeding system. 3/2-way and 5/2-way manual control valve, eight double-acting cylinders were used. The system took 46.48 seconds during a cycle. Additional environmental noise and vibration were not detected when the machine operated at the working area. Based on the theoretical simulation and actual test the fabricated system was well controlled. The system was applied to the patent in 2006.

In this paper, we propose a method to optimize the geometry and installation position of the mixer in the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system by computational fluid dynamic(CFD). Using the commercial CFD software of CFD-ACE+, the flow dynamics of the flue gas was numerically analyzed for improving the injection uniformity of the reduction agent. Numerical analysis of the mixed gas heat flow into the upstream side of the primary SCR catalyst layer was performed when the denitrification facility was operated. The characteristics such as the flow rate, temperature, pressure loss and ammonia concentration of the mixed gas consisting of the flue gas and the ammonia reducing gas were examined at the upstream of the catalyst layer of SCR. The temperature difference on the surface of the catalyst layer is very small compared to the flow rate of the exhaust gas, and the temperature difference caused by the reducing gas hardly occurs because the flow rate of the reducing gas is very small. When the mixed gas is introduced into the SCR reactor, there is a slight tendency toward one wall. When the gas passes through the catalyst layer having a large pressure loss, the flow angle of the exhaust gas changes because the direction of the exhaust gas changes toward a smaller flow. Based on the uniformity of the flow rate of the mixed gas calculated at the SCR, it is judged that the position of the test port reflected in the design is proper.
The CAD/CAM system for the manufacturing automation is the newest technology in mechanical engineering area and becomes the important research subject nowadays. Most of all hardwares and softwares for the CAD/CAM system used in the our manufacturing companies such as automobile company are developed by the foreign country and the purchasing price of them is very expensive but their applicability to a certain area is very limited. This study was conducted to develope a CAD/CAM system for the design and the automatic manufacturing of the iron pattern shaped with 3 - dimensional free curved surface, and to test its applicability to the design and the manufacturing of the rotary blade. The results obtained from the study are as follow; 1. The CAD system which can process graphic procedures from the free curved surface shaped data was developed with personal computer. 2. The CAM main program was developed. This main program could produce CL data from CAD data file by checking the tool interference according to the cutting mode. 3. The sub. program which can simulate the tool trace from the CL data was developed. 4. The post processor for the Deckel FP2NC NC milling machine from CL data file was developed and the sub program could transmit NC program through modem to NC milling machine was developed. 5. The developed CAM system seemed to be applicable to any other system. Because the measuring results of the cross sectional thickness of the plastic model from the manufacturing iron pattern by the system showed that this system could properly check the tool interference. 6. In took 75~90 hours to manufacture two iron patterns of rotary blade. For the sake of convenience in applying to the other systems, this system was developed in BASIC and FORTRAN computer language and minimum portion of machine language as possible.
