Optimum Condition for Xe Gas Excitation in Plasma Display Panels through Ternary Gas of He, Ne, Xe

  • Plasma Display Panels (PDPs) have illustrated impressive results in terms of light emission efficiency of the Ne-Xe mixture compared with the He-Xe mixture. However, He-Xe has shown to achieve superior color purity. This paper presents the optimization of excitation efficiency and color purity for He-Ne-Xe ternary gas mixtures. Furthermore, we investigate the effect that a protective dielectric layer has on UV photon efficiency in a matrix known as electrode type PDP.

3성분계 인화성 혼합가스의 최소점화에너지 측정에 관한 연구 (Measurement of Minimum Ignition Energy by Electrostatic Discharge for Flammable Ternary Gas Mixtures)

  • When flammable gases are mixed with air or oxygen in the explosion concentration range and are ignited by sufficiently large electrostatic discharge energy, they may explode causing severe disaster in workplace. The minimum ignition energy(MIE) of single gas-air mixtures has been already investigated by many research, but the MIE of mixtures of more than ternary gas mixture is not examined yet. The purpose of this study is to investigate the MIE of a ternary gas(methane, ethylene, hydrogen, propane) mixtures experimentally. The results of our experiment show that the ignition of a methane-ethylene-air, methane-hydrogen-air, methane-propane-air, ethylene-hydrogen-air, ethylene-propane-air and hydrogen-propane-air mixture due to electrostatic discharge energy primarily depends on that the mixture: the MIE decreases gradually with the increase of having the lower MIE than other mixture ratio in the normal atmospheric pressure.

  • 내압 방폭전기기계 기구는 인화성 가스가 존재하는 위험장소에서 사용되어도 인화성 가스의 점화원이 되지 않는 구조로 이루어져야 한다. 또한 전기 스파크를 발생시키는 부품이 점화원이 되어 기계 기구 내부에서 폭발 시 최대 압력에 견디고 내부 화염이 외부로 전파되어 가스나 증기 폭발을 일으키지 않도록 설계되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 화염 틈새를 통해 외부로 분사되는 연소 생성물의 분사가 외부 가스나 증기를 점화시킬 정도의 온도나 에너지를 가질 수 없도록 하는 MESG(Maximum Experimental Safe Gap)의 중요한 물리적인 메커니즘에 대해 규명하였다. IEC 60079-20-1:2010 기준에 의해 프로판- 아세틸렌-공기로 이루어진 3성분계 혼합가스의 MESG를 실험하여 MESG 값을 측정하고 가스 폭발시의 최대 폭발압력을 측정하였다. 결과로는 아세틸렌 가스 보다는 폭발력이 낮은 프로판 가스의 조성이 MESG 값과 폭발압력에 더욱 큰 변수로 작용함을 알 수 있었다.

  • The improvement of luminance and luminous efficiency is the one of the most important part in AC-PDPs. To achieve high luminance and luminous efficiency, high VUV emission efficiency is needed. We measured the emission spectra of vacuum ultraviolet(VUV) rays in surface discharge AC-PDP with binary and ternary gas mixtures of Ne-Xe and He-Ne-Xe. The influence of He-Ne-Xe gas-mixture ratio on excited $Xe^{\ast}$ resonant atoms and $Xe_2$$^{\ast}$ dimers has been investigated. It is found that luminous efficiency of ternary gas mixture, He-Ne-Xe, is shown to be much higher than that of binary gas mixture of Ne-Xe.

수평관내 3성분 혼합냉매의 강제대류비등 열전달 (Forced convective boiling heat transfer for a ternary refrigerant mixture inside a horizontal tube)

  • The forced convective boiling heat transfer coefficients of R-407C were measured inside a horizontal tube 6.0mm I.D. and 4.0m long. The heat transfer coefficients increased according to an increase in heat flux at constant mass flux. Because nucleation was completely suppressed in the two-phase flow region with high quality, heat transfer coefficients in forced convective evaporation were higher than those in nucleate boiling region. Average heat transfer coefficients of R-407C were about 30 percent lower than the pure refrigerant correlation, due to mass transfer resistance at the gas-liquid interface. However, the total experimental data shows an agreement with the predicted data for ternary refrigerant mixtures with a mean deviation of 30%.

  • Recently, as the policy of state that it is the low carbon green growth is promoted, the effort for reducing the CO2 gas generation ejected from the construction industry in the cement production is continued. That is, the method using the mineral admixtures including the silica fume and red mud, silica fume and etc. it is the industrial byproduct with the method solving the exhaustion problem of the environmental contamination settlement and natural resources, the great quantity as the cement substitute material is examined. Accordingly, in this research, the strength characteristic of the curing body differentiating the curing method of the ternary system inorganic binder using the blast furnace slag and red mud, silica fume and etc. as the cement substitute material tried to be examined.

  • Water+n-methylformamide(NMF), benzene+NMF 그리고 toluene+NMF의 353.15 K 이성분계 등온 기-액상평형을 headspace gas chromatography(HSGC)로 측정하였고, NMF+benzene+n-heptane과 NMF+toluene+n-heptane 삼성분계에 대한 298.15 K 액-액상평형을 tie-line 측정법으로 결정하였다. 이성분계 기-액상평형 데이터는 공비점이 없었으며, $g^E$ 모델식(Margules, van Laar, Wilson, NRTL, UNIQUAC)에 비교적 작은 편차로 잘 상관되었다. 삼성분계 tie-line 데이터는 NRTL식과 UNIQUAC식을 이용하여 상관과 추산을 병행하였으며, Hirata-Fujita식과 Maior-Swenson식을 이용하여 정확도를 검증하였다.
