  • The purpose of this research was to study differences between reciprocal and unidirectional friendships and to examine evidence on whether certain constituents of friendship can predict the termination of friendships. A total 375 subjects- 190 elementary and 185 middle school children in Pusan- were administered questionnaires two times at an interval of 3 months. Frequency, factor-analysis, t-test, discriminant-analysis, and cross classification analysis were applied for data analysis. The results of the study were as follows: 1) The different constituents of reciprocal and unidirectional friendships were statistically significant. That is, children in reciprocal friendships perceived their relationships more positively, felt closeness more strongly, and evaluated their friend more highly than the children in unidirectional friendships. 2) The termination of reciprocal friendships was predicted by the constituents of friendship. The most powerful predictor was the degree of closeness and the second powerful predictor was the degree of commitment to the relationship and the 3rd powerful predictor was perceived characteristics of the friend. The last powerful predictor was perceived characteristics of the relations. 3) There were no sex differences in the rate of termination of reciprocal relationships. 4) There were age differences in the rate of friendship termination of reciprocal relationships. That is, the rate of termination of reciprocal relationships among older children was higher than among younger children.

  • Occasionally, there are combat situations which one or both forces can´t terminate the combat using selected combat termination rule according to given relationship between ratio of attrition rate coefficient and threshold values. In this study, we classify the situations that one or both forces can´t terminate the combat with selected combat termination rule into four conditions. Condition${\circled1}$ is the situation which both Blue and Red can terminate the combat using all selected combat termination rules. condition${\circled2}$ and condition${\circled3}$ are those which neither Blue or Red can terminate the combat using selected proportional decision rule, and condition${\circled4}$ is that which both Blue and Red can´t terminate the combat using selected proportional decision rule. We analyze the effect of combat termination rules on parity number, final combat power, and combat durations for each conditions. Also, we propose the method to apply the analyzed effect of combat termination rules to combat analysis.

  • This paper empirically examines what factors affected the termination of anti-dumping measures in Korea during the 2006-2019 period. Employing a meticulous literature review, the paper investigates the WTO's and Korea's rules on the termination of anti-dumping measures and sets up the related variables in the Cox proportional hazards model. The empirical results show that the GDP growth rate, employment, and trade competitiveness in domestic industries had positive effects on the hazard of the termination of AD measures, while free trade agreements had negative effects. By industry, the hazard of the termination of AD measures was less prominent in the steel industry, while it was more prominent in the machinery industry. These results imply that AD measures in Korea had the properties of a proper trade remedy policy and, at the same time, a protectionism tool to sustain its domestic industries, depending on industrial characteristics and other trade policies.

  • This paper presents a channel reservation scheme using Wiener prediction model in order to reduce the rate of forced termination of cognitive users in cognitive radio networks. The proposed method uses Wiener prediction model to predict the number of radio channel required by the reappearance of primary users, and then calculates and reserves the number of channels that cognitive users demand for their spectrum handoff. Through the simulation we investigate cognitive users' forced termination rate and blocking rate with and without channel reservation. In addition we show the bandwidth utilization efficiency for both cases. The results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the forced termination rate of cognitive users at the cost of slightly increasing in blocking rate. Also it is seen that there is little difference in bandwidth utilization efficiency for both cases.

  • This study investigated the factors influencing the termination of the JooTeakYeonKeum contract according to its rate increase, and aimed to identify the differences in the factors affecting the cancellation of the contract according to the collateralized house price range. The results showed that the higher the cumulative increase rate of the mortgage housing price at the time of subscription is, the higher the monthly payment, the larger the gap between the monthly payment and the minimal living expenses for aging, the lower the net population moving rate in the previous month, and the lower the cumulative mortgage. Moreover, the JooTeakYeonKeum contract is terminated. The factors affecting the termination of the contract are different in each interval of the price range of the mortgage housing. To confirm this, a mortgage price range model was constructed and analyzed. The results showed that 60% of the elderly participants in the JooTeakYeonKeum program subscribed thereto with a below-average subsidized housing price. It was confirmed that the factors affecting the termination of the contract differ by price range. Lowering the risk of increasing the JooTeakYeonKeum termination rate will be a significant way of boosting the welfare of elderly people aged 65 and older, and of easing the impact of population aging.

  • This paper proposes an early termination method of a block vector search for fast encoding of high efficiency video coding (HEVC) screen content coding (SCC). In the proposed algorithm, two blocks indicated by two block vector predictors (BVPs) were first employed as an intra block copy (IBC) search. If the sum of absolute difference (SAD) value of the block is less than a threshold defined empirically, an IBC BV search is terminated early. The initial threshold for early termination is derived by statistical analysis and it can be modified adaptively based on a quantization parameter (QP). The proposed algorithm is evaluated on SCM-2.0 under all intra (AI) coding configurations. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm reduces IBC BV search time by 29.23% on average while the average BD-rate loss is 0.41% under the HEVC SCC common test conditions (CTC).

  • Due to liberalization in the early stage, mobile communications market has grown rapidly in the world. However, some dominant operators set higher termination call charges, and thus the market has been distorted and customer welfare has been reduced a lot. The regulation of mobile termination charges is one of key issues of most regulatory agencies in the world. According to the survey, the level of mobile termination charges are quite different from country to country. Why is it so different? This paper investigated the determinants affecting the mobile termination charges for 28 countries by considering country-specific, industry-specific, and regulatory-specific conditions. We found that some regulatory-specific conditions are the most important factors. The rate of pre-paid contract and period of regulation mostly affect the mobile termination charges.

  • Lately there are many approaches for decreasing the retail prices for mobile telecommunication in response to higher demand of the consumer welfare. Related on this perspective, there have been many disputes how the MTR (mobile termination rate)s from the whole market has influences on the consumer prices at the retail market. Therefore, we need a timely review about the possibility of the reduction of retail prices with MTR policies. The purpose of this paper is to study the relationship between MTR and retail prices. For this purpose, we can identify three kinds of arguments by reviewing the previous literatures. We empirically analyze the relationship with latest European data and Korean annual data. Furthermore, we also examine whether the relationship would depend on the competition structure. The results imply that decreasing MTR would result in reduction of the retail prices but the effect would be enhanced by improvement of market concentration.

  • It is widely used that a network termination rate is calculated by using a Long Run Incremental Costing model. Interconnection Order issued Ministry of Information and Communication in Korea on December 2002 has declared that termination charges of local, national, payphone, and mobile calls are going to be determined by LRIC costing models after 2004. There are lots of preceding researches on a fixed network costing model for applying to LRIC method but on a mobile network not pretty much of them. Besides, Most important basis of current calculation models for termination charges are access costs to connect subscribers to network such as a local loop. In this paper, we look into being of access costs in mobile network and show the applicable standards for cost allocation of access costs in implementing LRIC costing model.

  • A novel linear switched termination active cross-coupled low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) transceiver operating at 1.5 GHz clock frequency is presented. On the transmitter side, an active cross-coupled linear output driver and a switched termination scheme are applied to achieve high speed with low current. On the receiver side, a shared pre-amplifier scheme is employed to reduce power consumption. The proposed LVDS transceiver implemented in an 80 nm CMOS process is successfully demonstrated to provide a data rate of 6 Gbps/pin, an output data window of 147 ps peak-to-peak, and a data swing of 196 mV. The power consumption is measured to be 4.2 mW/pin at 1.2 V.
