This study purposes for the based data for establishing the mid- to long term development direction of Anyang municipal libraries by conducting a survey of residents in Anyang city and focus group interviews with local experts. Based on the results of the survey and FGI analysis conducted in this study, the main implications and discussions for establishing mid- to long term development plans for Anyang municipal libraries in the future are summarized as follows. First, the services used by users are extremely limited compared to the utilization rate of library, and the utilization rate of library programs is low, therefore Anyang municipal libraries need to actively promote various services operated by the library, provide information, and make efforts to improve service use procedures simply. Second, library satisfaction is relatively high, but as a result of analyzing the reasons for some dissatisfaction, active budget investment for purchasing new library materials and ways to increase library accessibility are necessary. Third, due to the low awareness of the operation of specialized libraries, it is necessary to develop specialized, unique library services to Anyang municipal libraries through benchmarking of other best practices. Fourth, in the future, Anyang municipal libraries need to strengthen functions as a complex cultural center along with the functions as an information center, a lifelong education center, and a living convenience center. Lastly, it is required to construct a control tower that can systematically lead the operation of Anyang municipal libraries in the long term through the reorganization of the organizational system.

Background : Strategic planning is an organizationwide or systemwide, ongoing look into the future usually of 2~3 years, based on objective analysis of the current environment and trends, but it can incorporate both short-term and long-term goals. The strategic planning process includes external analysis, internal analysis, issue analysis, development of mission, vision and values, and lastly development of organizational goals and objectives. As a part of the strategic quality planning process, certain service lines, important organizationwide functions, or key processes supporting these functions can be prioritized to expedite and roll out certain strategic goals. This is called strategic quality initiatives. Methods : We organized a quality improvement team, a subgroup of 21st century vision planning corps of our medical center, and pursued QI activities for improvement of healthcare environment, particularly in the admission setting. We developed a strategic quality initiative based on the results of patient satisfaction surveys, and carried out functions of self-directed work team. Results : The strategic goal was to be the benchmark for peer group hospitals in Korea for providing cost-effective best-practice. The QI team included 3 medical doctors, 1 nurse, 1 social worker, and 1 QI consultant as well as many operational members to support services and quality initiatives met every Tuesday for 18 weeks. Outcome objectives were to improve patient satisfaction score. The issues included in the objectives were comfort, temperature, noise, cleanliness of the admission wards, quality and education of patient meals, matters regarding the admission process, and an appurtenant facility such as restaurant or convenience store. Every issue was discussed and recommendations, conclusions and opportunities were implemented. Conclusions : By developing a strategic quality initiative as a part of the strategic quality planning process, and pursuing a self-directed work team, certain sen/ice lines, important organizationwide functions, or key processes supporting these functions can be improved effectively within a short period. Strategic quality initiatives serve to support, or roll out, certain strategic goals that are relevant to performance improvement and development of specific measurable outcome objectives, and associated performance measure for each initiative. Each strategic quality initiative should include a statement of intent outcome objectives, and performance measures. We will come back with follow up of the strategic quality initiative, for improvement of healthcare environment, and results of patient satisfaction re-survey.

The hippocampus and prefrontal cortex are regarded as the highest-order association cortices. The hippocampus has been proposed to store "cognitive maps" of external environments, and the prefrontal cortex is known to be involved in the planning of behavior, among other functions. Considering the prominent functional roles played by these structures, it is not surprising to find direct monosynaptic projections from the hippocampus to the prefrontal cortex. Rhythmic stimulation of this projection patterned after the hippocampal EEG theta rhythm induced stable long-term potentiation of field potentials in the prefrontal cortex. Comparison of behavioral correlates of hippocampal and prefrontal cortical neurons during an a-arm radial maze, working memory task shows a striking contrast. Hippocampal neurons exhibit clear place-specific firing patterns, whereas prefrontal cortical neurons do not show spatial selectivity, but are correlated to different stages of the behavioral task. These data lead to the hypothesis that the role of hippocampal projection to the prefrontal cortex is not to impose spatial representations upon prefrontal activity, but to provide a mechanism for learning the spatial context in which particular behaviors are appropriate.propriate.

This study was performed to develope a money management education program for elementary school students graded from 3 to 6 in order to enhance their money management skill. Based on the developmental stages of the children, this program covered five financial issues such as value of money, financial planning, allowance planning, saving and investment, and consuming and purchasing. Total 15 specific education programs were developed. The contents included in each program were value of money & economic circulation, types of money and the importance of money management, the issues related on choice and resource use, long-term and short-term planning, the relationship between occupation and earnings, career planning, budgeting, the reasons and types of saving, understanding of interest, investment methods, the functions of market and trade, intra family income distribution, consumptions, and consumer decision making process.

This article deals with one-dimension backward heat conduction problem (BHCP). A new approach based on least squares support vector machines (LS-SVM) is proposed for obtaining their approximate solutions. The approximate solution is presented in closed form by means of LS-SVM, whose parameters are adjusted to minimize an appropriate error function. The approximate solution consists of two parts. The first part is a known function that satisfies initial and boundary conditions. The other is a product of two terms. One term is known function which has zero boundary and initial conditions, another term is unknown which is related to kernel functions. This method has been successfully tested on practical examples and has yielded higher accuracy and stable solutions.

The methods solving the 2nd order linear ordinary differential equations of the form y"+H(x)y'+G(x)y=P(x) using Fourier series are presented in this paper. These methods are applied to the differential equations of which the exact solutions are known, and the solutions by Fourier series are compared with the exact solutions. The main results obtained in these studies are summarized as follows; 1) The product and the quotient of two functions expressed in Fourier series can be expressed also in Fourier series and the relations between the Fourier coefficients of the series are obtained by multiplying term by term. 2) If the solution of the 2nd order lindar ordinary differential equation exists in a certain interval, the solution can be obtained using Fourier series and can be expressed in Fourier series. 3) The absolute errors of Fourier series solutions are generally less in the center of the interval than in the end of the interval. 4) The more terms are considered in Fourier series solutions, the less the absolute errors.rors.

The free vibration of a thin plate with three different boundary conditions is discussed in this paper. A semi-analytical approach to the plate problems has been exploited using computer algebra system(CAS). The approximate solutions are assumed as algebraic polynomials that satisfy the appropriate boundary conditions. In order to solve problems, Galerkin method is used, which is known as an ineffective tool for practical engineering problems, being involved with a large number of multiple integration and differentiation. All the admissible functions used in this paper are generated automatically by CAS otherwise a tedious algebraic manipulations should be done by hand. One, six and fifteen-term solutions in terms of frequency parameters are presented and compared with exact solutions. Even using one-term solution, the comparison with existing data shows good agreement and accuracy of the present method.

Approximately equivalent to character disorder or character neuroses or behavioral reaction. For a discussion of the term as used currently, in the 1968 revision of psychiatric nomenclature(DSM-II). In DSM-I(1952 nomenclature), this term referred to those cases in which the personality, in its struggle for adjustment to internal and external stresses, utilized primarily a pattern of action or behavior rather than symptoms in the mental, somatic or emotional spheres. There is minimal subjective anxiety and little or no sense of distress. As thus defined, there are three main groups of personality disorder, personality pattern disturbance, personality trait disturbance and sociopathic, personality disturbance. Morton Prince asks whether a subconscious process can perform the same function as are ordinarily performed by conscious intelligence that is to say memory, perception, reasoning, imagination, volition, affectivity, etc? He cites clinical material at great length, concluding that the quality of the functions performed they frequently exhibit, that which is characteristic of intelligence.

Inchon Port is the second largest import-export port of Korea, and has the point at issue such as the excessive logistics cost because of the limits of handling capacity and the chronic demurrage. There are few research activities on the analysis and improvement of the whole port operation, because Inchon Port not only has the dual dock system and various facilities but also handles a various kind of cargo. The purpose of this paper is to develop the simulation program as a long-term strategic support tool, considering the dual dock system and the TU(Terminal Operation Company) system executed since March, 1997 in Inchon Port. The basic input parameters such as arrival intervals, cargo tons, service rates are analyzed and the probability density functions for these parameters are estimated. The main mechanism of simulation model is the discrete event-driven simulation and the next-event time advancing. The program is executed based on the knowledge base and database. From the simulation model, it is possible to estimate the demurrage status through analyzing various scenarios and to establish the long-term port strategic plan.

In this study, we proposed design issues and structure of a web mining system and develop a system for the purpose of knowledge integration under world wide web environments resulted from our developing experiences. The developed system consists of three main functions： 1) gathering documents utilizing a search agent; 2) determining similarity coefficients between any two documents from term frequencies; 3) clustering documents based on similarity coefficients. It is believed that the developed system can be utilized for discovery of knowledge in relatively narrow domains such as news classification, index term generation in knowledge management.
