Recently, the ground anchor method is commonly applied with nail and rock bolt to secure the stability of slopes and structures in Korea. Among them, permanent anchor which is used for long-term stability should secure bearing capacity and durability during the period of use. However, according to recent studies, phenomenon such as deformation to slope and the reduction of residual tensile load over time have been reported along the long-term behavior of the anchors. These problems of reducing residual tensile load are expected to increase in the future, which will inevitably lead to problems such as increasing maintenance costs. In this study, we identified the factors that affect the tensile load of permanent anchor from a literature study on the domestic and foreign, and investigated the prior studies that analyzed previously conducted load cell monitoring data. Afterwards, using this as basic data, the load cell measurement data collected at the actual site were analyzed to identify the tensile load reduction status of anchors, and the long-term load reduction characteristics were analyzed. Finally, by aggregating the preceding results, proposed a technique to predict the long-term load reduction characteristics of permanent anchors through short-term data to around 100 days after installation.

In this paper the effects of particle size and model scale of concrete have been investigated on point load index, tensile strength, and the failure processes using a PFC2D numerical modeling study. Circular and semi-circular specimens of concrete were numerically modeled using the same particle size, 0.27 mm, but with different model diameters of 75 mm, 54 mm, 25 mm, and 12.5 mm. In addition, circular and semi-circular models with the diameter of 27 mm and particle sizes of 0.27 mm, 0.47 mm, 0.67 mm, 0.87 mm, 1.07 mm, and 1.27 mm were simulated to determine whether they can match the experimental observations from point load and Brazilian tests. The numerical modeling results show that the failure patterns are influenced by the model scale and particle size, as expected. Both Is(50) and Brazilian tensile strength values increased as the model diameter and particle sizes increased. The ratio of Brazilian tensile strength to Is(50) showed a reduction as the particle size increased but did not change with the increase in the model scale.

PURPOSES: The objective of this study is to analyze and evaluate the behavior of orthotropic steel bridge deck pavement using three-dimensional finite element analysis and full-scale wheel load testing. METHODS: Since the layer thickness and material properties used in the bridge deck pavement are different from its condition, it is very difficult to measure and access the behavior of bridge deck pavement in the field. To solve this problem, the full-scale wheel load testing was conducted on the PSMA/Mastic bridge deck pavement and the deflection of bridge deck and horizontal tensile strain on top of pavement were measured under the loading condition. Three-dimensional finite element analysis was conducted to predict the behavior of bridge deck pavement and the predicted deflection and tensile strain values are compared with measured values from the wheel loading testing. RESULTS: Test results showed that the predicted deflections are 10% lower than measured ones and the error between predicted and measured horizontal tensile strain values is less than 2% in the critical location. CONCLUSIONS: The fact indicates that the proposed the analysis is found to be accurate for estimating the behavior of bridge deck pavements.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the redistribution of transverse residual stress in the multi-pass FCA butt weld of YP47 in the hatch coaming top plate of ultra large size containership under the tensile cyclic load. In order to do it, the configuration of modified H type specimen including restraint length was first designed to simulate the restraint condition of the butt weld in hatch coaming top plate. FE analysis procedure for evaluating the transverse residual stress was verified by comparing the calculated mean and surface residual stresses with the measured results in the test specimen. After that, the effect of the cyclic load on the redistribution of transverse residual stress was evaluated by comprehensive FEA. From the results, it was found that although the maximum transverse residual stress decreased with an increase in the applied maximum load, the effect of the cyclic load on the mean residual stress is small enough to be negligible. It is because the maximum stress of the ship corresponding to the probability of 10E-8 is less than 70% of yield stress of the weld.
The present study proposes a realistic method to analyze the prestressed concrete members subjected to torsion. For this end, this study devises a method to realistically take into account
the tensile stiffness of concrete after cracking. The effects of biaxial compressive and tensile loadings on the compressive and tensile strengths of concrete are also taken into account in the present model. The comparison of the present theory with experimental data indicates that the proposed model dipicts reasonably well the actual behavior of prestressed concrete members subjected to torsion. The present model can predict not only the service load behavior, but also up to the behavior of ultimate load stages.
The present study experimentally and analytically investigates the effect of tensile reinforcement ratio and arrangement on the behavior of FRP strengthened reinforced concrete (RC) beams. The experimental part of the program was comprised of 8 RC beams that were tested under four-point bending. Results have shown that by keeping the total cross-section area of tensile reinforcing bars constant, in specimens with a low reinforcement ratio, increasing the number and decreasing the diameter of bars in the section lead to 21% and 29% increase in the load-carrying capacity of specimens made with normal and high compressive strength, respectively. In specimens with high reinforcement ratio, a different behavior was observed. Furthermore, the accuracy of the existing code provisions and analytical models in predicting the load-carrying capacity of the FRP strengthened beams failed by premature debonding mode were evaluated. Herein, a model is proposed which considers the tensile reinforcement ratio (as opposed to code provisions) to achieve more accurate results for calculating the load carrying capacity of FRP strengthened RC beams.

In this panel test, the toughness and post-cracking tensile strength of SFRC(Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete) measured on 24 panels(size; 60cm $\times$ 60cm $\times$ 10cm) which are the basic characteristics than can determine the load bearing capacity of SFRC are investigated. Those values are calculated using load-deflection curves and load-absorbed energy curves. Post-cracking tensile strength of SFRC in this study are determined by yield line theory. From the test results, it is seen that the higher the volume of steel fiber is, the higher the absorbed energy is.

Experimental investigation and finite element analysis of corroded cold-formed steel (CFS) columns are presented. 11 tensile coupon specimens and 6 stub columns of corroded CFS that had a channel section of C160x60x20 were subjected to monotonic tensile tests and axial compression tests, respectively. The degradation laws of the mechanical properties of the tensile coupon specimens and stub columns were analysed. An appropriate finite element model for the corroded CFS columns was proposed and the influence of local corrosion on the stability performance of the columns was studied by finite element analysis. Finally, the axial capacity of the experimental results was compared with the predictions obtained from the existing design specifications. The results indicated that with an increasing average thickness loss ratio, the ultimate strength, elastic modulus and yield strength decreased for the tensile coupon specimens. Local buckling deformation was not noticeable until the load reached about 90% of the ultimate load for the non-corroded columns, while local buckling deformation was observed when the load was only 40% of the ultimate load for the corroded columns. The maximum reduction of the ultimate load and critical buckling load was 57% and 81.7%, respectively, compared to those values for the non-corroded columns. The ultimate load of the columns with web thickness reduced by 2 mm was 53% lower than that of the non-corroded columns, which indicates that web corrosion most significantly affects the bearing capacity of the columns with localized corrosion. The results predicted using the design specifications of MOHURD were more accurate than those predicted using the design specifications of AISI.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the tensile bond strength between composite resin and the human enamel. Three composite resin systems, two chemical (Clearfil Posterior, and Clearfil Posterior-3) and one light cure (Photo Clearfil-A), used with and without an intermediate resin (clearfil bonding agent), were evaluated under different amounts of load (10g, 200g and 200g for a moment) for in vitro tensile bond strength to acid-eched human enamel. Clinically intact buccal or lingual surfaces of 144 freshly extracted human permanent molars, embedded in acrylic were flattened with No #600 carborundum discs. Samples were randomly assigned to the different materials and treatments using a table of random numbers. Eight samples were thus prepared for each group(Table 2) these surfaces were etched with an acid etchant (Kurarey Co. Japan) in a mode of etching for 30 seconds, washing for 15 seconds, and drying for 30-seconds. During the polymerization of composite resin on the acid-etched enamel surfaces with and without bonding agent 10-gram, 200 gram and temporary 200 gram of load were applied. The specimens were stored in 50% relation humidity at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours before testing. An universal Testing machine (Intesco model No. 2010, Tokyo, Japan) was used to apply tensile loads in the vertical directed (fig 5), and the force required for separation was recorded with a cross head speed of 0.25 mm/min and 20 kg in full scale. The results were as follow: 1. The tensile bond strength was much greater in applying a bonding agent than in not doing that. 2. The tensile bond strength of chemical cure composite resin was higher than that of light cure composite resin with applying on bonding agent on the acid-etched enamel. 3. In case of not applying a bonding agents on the acid-etching enamel, the highest tensile bond strength under 200 gram of load was measured in light cure composite resin. 4. The tensile bond strength under 200-gram of load has no relation with applying the bonding agent. 5. Under the load of 10-gram, There was significant difference in tensile bond strength as applying the bonding agent.

In this study, computation method of tensile load which develops in tie-bar of reinforced earth, connection strength between tie-bar and eco-block and shear strength of the interface between two eco-blocks were verified by experiments. According to the test results of connection strength test, peak tensile load of D13 deformed bar were close to allowable tensile load of it for situation of infill with soil. Connection strengths of D10 and D13 deformed bars were greater than the allowable tensile load of those respectively for situation of infill with concrete. According to the test results of shear strength of the interface between two eco-blocks, shear resistance parameters, ${\alpha}_u$ and ${\lambda}_u$ were evaluated as 1.7kN/m and 2$27.6^{\circ}$ respectively.
