  • This paper suggests to standardize railway accident restoration types as the standardized code and to develop standard operation procedures(SOP) for the efficient railway accident management and recovery system. First of all, occurred damage types as the existing railway accident types in both domestic and foreign cases have been carefully analyzed and then reclassified. Therefore, this study suggested the combination of 3 distinct code factors: restoration class, restoration object, and restoration location to standardize them. In addition, temporary restoration SOP will play a major role in the railway accident batabase management system and SOP for the damage limitation and the prevention of accident spread.

  • When a patient with a fractured anterior tooth visits the clinic, clinician has to restore the tooth esthetically and quickly. For esthetic resin restoration, clinician can use 'Natural Layering technique' and an index for palatal wall may be needed. In this case report, we introduce pre-restoration index technique on a Class IV defect, in which a temporary filling material is used for easy restoration. Chair-side index fabrication for Class IV restoration is convenient and makes a single-visit treatment possible.

  • Temporary restoration is one of the important processes in prosthodontic treatment, but some clinicians do not care about it. Most temporary restorations are literally used for a while, so most dentists like fast and cheap things. With the advent of dental CAD/CAM that can be made faster and easier with the changing age, the production of temporary restoration is also being digitized. It is good to be comfortable, but there are advantages and disadvantages. In this article, we are going to look at the 'analogue aesthetic anterior teeth temporary method' which seems to be the last generation.

A Basic Study for the Restoration of Noryang Temporary Palace (노량행궁의 복원을 위한 기초연구)

  • Noryang Temporary Palace was a place where king Jeongjo (1752-1800) would have lunch after crossing the Temporary Palace River on his way to Hwaseong Temporary Palace to worship at Hyeonryungwon, the tomb of his father, Sadoseja. The government offices in charge of ship bridge construction 'Jugyosa' and 'Byeoljangso' were located in the Temporary Palace. The central buildings of the Haenggung Palace, which ranged up to Yongyangbongjeojeong, were arranged to observe both 'Jugyosa' and 'Byeoljangso' from the Temporary Palace by lifting the ground from Sammun Gate to Yongyangbongjeojeong. Yongyangbongjeojeong, the center of Noryang Temporary Palace, features the style of royal palace architecture and functions of housing architecture. The 'Jugyosa' and 'Byeoljangso' buildings had eight quarters. According to the records, in addition, 15 wood sheds, 5 rice hubs, 3 barns, 1 side gate quarter, 1 front gate, 70 separate sheds, 2 suragan temporary buildings, oesammun gate and hongsalmun gate were found. Such architectural layout is matched with the Temporary Palace Jugyohwaneodo Painting.

  • Recently, large scale disasters have been occurred in rural areas. Most people suffering from the disaster live in the temporary containers. These could not provide the fundamental occupancy performances such as thermal insulation, ventilation and heating system. It is very important to rebuild the residence for sufferers quickly and safely. Because modular building system has some advantages such as short construction time, mobility, light-weight structure, modularity, flexibility and economical efficiency, it is expected that it could be easily applied to the disaster restoration. So, this research aims at developing the design model of modular building system for disaster restorations in fishing and agrarian villages. For this purpose, current counterplan for restoration was firstly investigated. Also the basic guideline was established through the investigation of current status of residence in fishing and agrarian villages. Finally, 2 types of design model such as single story residence and temporary accommodation facility were proposed. We could see that we could make the flexible building plan when applying the modular building system to the temporary housing for the sufferers.

Coronal microleakage of four temporary restorative materials in Class II-type endodontic access preparations

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the microleakage of 4 temporary materials in teeth with Class II-type endodontic access preparations by using a glucose penetration model. Materials and Methods: Glucose reaction test was performed to rule out the presence of any reaction between glucose and temporary material. Class II-type endodontic access preparations were made in extracted human premolars with a single root (n = 10). Each experimental group was restored with Caviton (GC), Spacer (Vericom), IRM (Dentsply-Caulk), or Fuji II(GC). Microleakage of four materials used as temporary restorative materials was evaluated by using a glucose penetration model. Data were analyzed by the one-way analysis of variance followed by a multiplecomparison Tukey test. The interface between materials and tooth were examined under a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Results: There was no significant reaction between glucose and temporary materials used in this study. Microleakage was significantly lower for Caviton and Spacer than for Fuji II and IRM. SEM observation showed more intimate adaptation of tooth-restoration interfaces in Caviton and Spacer than in IRM and Fuji II. Conclusions: Compared to IRM and Fuji II, Caviton and Spacer can be considered better temporary sealing materials in Class II-type endodontic access cavities.

Orbital wall restoration with primary bone fragments in complex orbital fractures: A preliminary study

  • Background: We have reported orbital wall restoration surgery with primary orbital wall fragment in pure blowout fractures using a combination of transorbital and transnasal approach in pure blow out fractures. However, this method was thought to be difficult to use for complex orbital wall fractures, since the sharp screw tip that fixate the maxillary wall increases the risk of balloon ruptures. In this study, we reviewed 23 cases of complex orbital fractures that underwent orbital wall restoration surgery with primary orbital wall fragment and evaluated the result. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted of 23 patients with complex orbital fracture who underwent orbital restoration surgery with primary orbital wall fragments between 2012 and 2019. The patients underwent orbital wall restoration surgery with primary orbital wall fragment with temporary balloon support. The surgical results were evaluated by the Naugle scale and a comparison of preoperative and postoperative orbital volume ratio. Complex fracture type, type of screw used for fixation and complications such as balloon rupture were also investigated. Results: There were 23 patients with complex orbital fracture that used transnasal balloon technique for restoration. 17 cases had a successful outcome with no complications, three patients had postoperative balloon rupture, two patients had soft-tissue infection, and one patient had balloon malposition. Conclusion: The orbital wall restoration technique with temporary balloon support can produce favorable results when done correctly even in complex orbital wall fracture. Seventeen cases had favorable results, six cases had postoperative complications thus additional procedure seems necessary to complement this method.

Three-dimensional printing of temporary crowns with polylactic acid polymer using the fused deposition modeling technique: a case series

  • With recent developments in digital dentistry, research on techniques and materials for three-dimensional (3D) printing is actively underway. We report the clinical applications and outcomes of 3D printing of temporary crowns fabricated with polylactic acid (PLA) using a fused deposition modeling (FDM) printer. Five participants were recruited from among patients scheduled to be treated with a single full-coverage crown at a dental clinic in a university medical center from June to August 2022. We used 3D-printed crowns fabricated with PLA using an FDM printer as temporary crowns and were assessed for discomfort, fracture, and dislodging. The 3D-printed temporary crowns were maintained without fracture, dislodging, or discomfort until the permanent prosthesis was ready. The average time required for printing the temporary crowns was approximately 7 minutes. The 3D printing of temporary crowns with PLA using an FDM printer is a convenient process for dentists. However, these crowns have some limitations, such as rough surface texture and translucency; therefore, the 3D printing process should be improved to produce better prostheses.
