  • Knowledge of a power semiconductor's operating temperature is important in circuit design and converter control. Designing appropriate circuitry that does not affect regular circuit operation during virtual junction temperature measurement at actual operating conditions is a demanding task for engineers. The proposed method enables virtual junction temperature estimation with a dedicated modified gate driver circuit based on real-time measurement of a semiconductor's quasi-threshold voltage. A simulation was conducted before the circuit was designed to verify the concept and to determine the basic properties and potential drawbacks of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, We fabricated a high temperature pressure sensor using SBD(silicon- direct-bonding) wafer of $Si/SiO_2$/Si-sub structure. This sensor was very sensitive because the piezoresistor is fabricated by single crystal silicon of the first layer of SDB wafer. Also, it was possible to operate the sensor at high temperature over $120^{\circ}C$ which is the temperature limitation of general silicon sensor because the piezoresistor was dielectric isolation from silicon substrate using silicon dioxide of the second layer. The sensitivity of this sensor is very high as the measured result of D2200 shows $183.6\;{\mu}V/V{\cdot}kPa$. Also, the output characteristic of linearity was very good. This sensor was available at high temperature as $300^{\circ}C$.

  • In this study, a plastic fiber-optic temperature sensor is fabricated using TSCM(thermo sensitive clouding material) which changes its light transmittance with temperature and the characteristics of this sensor are evaluated. The fabricated fiber optic temperature sensor is the reflector type using a Y-coupler. The optimum light source and reflector are decided by measuring the amount of reflected light through TSCM. Also, the optimum distance from the end of sensor to the surface of reflector is determined. Then the relationship between the amount of measured reflected light and the temperature of TSCM is found.

  • A series of high capacity soft carbons with different phosphorus contents were successfully prepared by carbonizing petroleum cokes treated with hypophosphorous acid at $900^{\circ}C$. The effect of phosphorus content on the electrochemical performance of the soft carbons was extensively investigated. The P-doped soft carbons exhibited greatly enhanced discharge capacities and outstanding rate capabilities with increasing phosphorus content. In addition, the influence of temperature on the electrochemical behaviors of the soft carbons was investigated in a wide temperature range of $25^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$. Surprisingly, the electrochemical properties of the pristine and P-doped soft carbons were highly sensitive to the operating temperature, unlike conventional graphite. The pristine and P-doped soft carbons exhibited significantly high discharge capacities of 470 and 522 mAh/g, respectively, at a high temperature of $50^{\circ}C$.

  • Bacillus sphaericus was mutagenized with UV light irradiation and dimethyl sulfate. Thirty-five conditional lethal temperature-sensitive(ts) mutants were isolated at the nonpermissive temperature of $42^{\circ}C$ and classified into three groups by their growth characteristics on the nutrient broth, peptone glucose yeast extract agar and mineral salts agar. First was the lethal ts group, 24 mutants, which did not grow at the nonpermissive temperature, the second, 9 mutants, was the less growth is group whose growth was restricted to one-half, and the third, 2 mutants, was the cold lethal ts group whose growth was restricted at the permissive temperature($25^{\circ}C$and $30^{\circ}C$)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the WASP5 model parameters and to analyze the sensitivity of parameters in Daechung Reservoir. The values predicted by the model and tendency were very similar to the observed data at Daejeon intake, so it is possible to predict water quality of the Daejeon intake region in the future. Results from the sensitivity analysis showed that Chlorophyll-a was sensitive to variations in saturated growth rate of phytoplankton, endogenous respiration rate of phytoplankton, extinction coefficient and temperature. T-N was sensitive to mineralization rate of dissolved organic nitrogen and temperature. T-P was affected by T-P load, temperature, extinction coefficient, mineralization rate of dissolved organic phosphorus and saturated growth rate of phytoplankton. BOD was influenced by deoxygenation rate and temperature, and DO was influenced by temperature. Adequate input data was applied and assessed through the model sensitivity analysis. So it is possible to distinguish the input data which need careful attention when it has application to model.

  • For realizing artificial skin sensing as a final goal, a mono-material pressure-conductive rubber sensor which is also sensitive for temperature is described. Firstly, discimination of the hardness and the thermal property of material using a proposed sensor is presented. Furthermore, a tactile sensor constints of four pressure-conductive rubber sensor to discriminate surface model which imitaties the surface roughness of material is proposed.

  • The relative stabilities of weak binding clusters are sensitive to temperature due to the entropy effect. Thus, here we report significant changes in relative stabilities between two low-energy electron-water trimer structures and those between three low-energy electron-water pentamer structures, as the temperature increases. The trimer and pentamer show structural changes around 200 K.

  • IBED is a very promosing thin film deposition method because of its many advantages, such as excellent adhesion property of films to substrates, room temperature processing, ease of control over the composition and thickness of films, and so on, over the conventional techniques, It has been widely applied in the field of surface modification of materials in the last decade. In our laboratory, many kinds of thin films, such as wear-resistant hard coatings, corrosion and oxidation protective coatings, biomaterial films, buffer layer for high temperature superconductor films, and oxygen sensitive film, have been synthesized by IBED, and several industrial applications of the IBED films have been conducted.

  • Gentamicin sulfate reacted with pyridoxal and zinc (II) ion in pyridine-methanol solution to yield highly fluorescent zinc(II) chelates of N-pyridoxylidene derivatives. This fluorescence reaction was sensitive and showed excitation maximum at 398nm, and emission maximum at 482nm. The effects of reagent concentration, reaction time and temperature, standing time and temperature were studied. And a new fluorophotometric method for the determination of gentamicin sulfate was developed. A good result was obtained and this method was applied to various preparations.
