An Experimental Study on the Temperature Variation in Heat Storage Zone in the Honeycomb-covered Small Saltless Solar Pond (벌집형 소형 태양열 저장수조의 열저장층 내의 온도변화에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This paper dealt with an experiments on temperature vairation in the heat storage zone due to change of vertical location (height) of sink diffuser and flow extraction in small saltless solar pond ($0.5{\times}0.5{\times}1.0M$), and the honeycomb device for this experimental purpose consisted of one-tired, sealed, and air filled by honeycomb panels. As results of experiments, 1) The storage zone was formed under lower region below the honeycomb device. 2) The higher vertical location of sink diffuser was placed, the more mixing phenomenon increased in the pond at steady flow extraction. 3) The more flow extraction increased, the more mixing phenomenon decreased at constant heat exchanger and variable flow extraction.

  • In this paper, the measurement technique of cutting temperatures of shear zone using implanted thermocouples is proposed in ball end milling. K-type thermocouple implanted in the hole of workpieces is directly cut in order to measure temperatures of the shear zone in cutting process. Experiments are performed for a nickel based superalloy(Inconel 718) using a ball nose end mill. The results show that the cutting temperature in shear zone is about 3200C at the cutting speed of 90m/min with dry.

  • 2024 Aluminium was welded by domestic manufactured continuous type friction welder. The problems and optimum condition were studied in 2024 Al-2024 Al cases. Mechanical tests and microstructure analysis were studeid. Interfacial temperature of welding was predicted by FDM. The obtained results are as follows: 1) In case of Al-Al, the optimum condition range was wide. 2) At the boundary zone, fine recrystallized zone was not harmful to the mechanical property and no growth of precipitation was observed. 3) In case of Al-Al, temperature gradient can be predictedby FDM and heat input can be taken as weld parameter.

  • 고온고압장치(High Temperature and Pressure Vessels)의 적용을 위한 기초연구로서 9Cr-1Mo강 용접부의 연화특성에 대하여 검토하였다. 9Cr-1Mo 강재에 Bead-on-Plate용접을 실시한 후, 용접부의 기계적 성질과 그 현미경조직관찰 및 미세경도를 측정한 결과, As-Welded 및 용접 후열처리(PWHT)등의 조건에 관계없이 용접열향부의 변태역과 템퍼링역의 경계에서 모재의 경 도보다 낮은 경도값(연화역)을 나타내었으며 이러한 원인은 결정립계(Grain boundary)에 석출 되는 탄화물의 형성에 의한 뜨임 현상임이 판명되었다.

  • The Ga2O3 single crystal was grown through a floating zone method, and its structural and optical properties were instigated. It has a monoclinic crystal structure with a (100) crystal orientation and an optical band gap energy of 4.6 eV. It showed an average transmittance of 70% in the visible region. At room temperature, its photoluminescent spectrum showed three different peaks: the ultraviolet at 360 nm, the blue-green at 500 nm, and the red peaks at 700 nm. Especially, at liquid nitrogen temperature, the ultraviolet peak was optically active while the others were quenched.

  • Spatially and temporally resolved gas temperature measurements have been made in aeroengine combustor sector rig burning standard kerosene fuel. Temperature PDFs have been obtained from a triple-sector double annular combustor rig running at simulated ground idle conditions, showing features of flow mixing within the burning rig. Mean temperature and temperature PDFs were measured by CARS to investigate flow characteristics of the recirculation zones.

  • In this study, the temperature gradient of a floating zone (FZ) apparatus, which is very difficult to directly measure, could be estimated by using the relationships between the lamellar spacing of directionally solidified TiAl alloys and the solidification rate, It was found that the calculated temperature gradient of the FZ apparatus was much higher, and almost ten times higher than that of a Bridgman type directional solidification apparatus.

  • In this work, thermal design of a PCR chip for LOC is systematically conducted. From the numerical simulation of a PCR chip based on the finite volume method, how to control the average temperature of a PCR chip and the temperature difference between the denaturation zone and the annealing zone is presented. The average temperature is shown to be controlled by adjusting heat input and a cooler as well as a heater is shown to be necessary to obtain three individual temperature zones for polymerase chain reaction. To reduce the time required, a heat sink for the cooler is not included in the calculation domain for the PCR chip and heat sink design is conducted separately by using a compact modeling method, the porous medium approach.

  • The aims of this study is to examine closely the temperature distribution of the solar pond for conditions of Seoul area climate and to prove capability of the solar pond utilization in Seoul area. In this study the equations for the convecting zone temperature of the solar pond were derived from Rabl and Nielsen's model. As the result of computer simulation, it was found that the average temperature of convecting zone is over $100^{\circ}C$ under conditions which is no output and 120cm depth or over of the insulating layer. Consequently if solar pond is constructed in Seoul area, it is a effective heat storage system.

Classification of Cultivation Region for Soybean (Glycine max [L.]) in South Korea Based on 30 Years of Weather Indices (평년기상을 활용한 우리나라의 콩 재배지역 구분)

  • A region can be divided into cultivation zones based on homogeneity in weather variables that have the greatest influence on crop growth and yield. This study classified the cultivation zone of soybean using weather indices as a prior study to classify the agroclimatic zone of soybean. Meteorological factors affecting soybeans were determined through correlation analysis over a 10 year period (from 2013 to 2022) using data from the Miryang and Suwon regions collected from the soybean yield trial database of the Rural Development Administration, Korea and the meteorological database of the Korea Meteorological Administration. The correlation between growth characteristics and the minimum temperature, daily temperature range, and precipitation were high during the vegetative growth stages. Moreover, the correlation between yield components and the maximum temperature, daily temperature range, and precipitation were high during the reproductive growth stages. As a result of k-means clustering, soybean cultivation zones were divided into three zones. Zone 1 was the central inland region and southern Gyeonggi-do; Zone 2 was the southern part of the west coast, the southern part of the east coast, and the South Sea; and Zone 3 included parts of eastern Gyeonggi-do, Gangwon-do, and areas with high altitudes. Zone 1, which has a wide latitude range, was further subdivided into three cultivation zones. The results of this study may provide useful information for estimating agrometeorological characteristics and predicting the success of soybean cultivation in South Korea.
