Telemedicine uses common technologies that provide a conduit for information exchange between physicians nurses and patients. In addition to patient records, medical professionals can obtain vital signs and other reference data through telemedicine applications. also, recent advancement in RF technology and wireless communications has enabled the development of Ubiquitous networks. Mobile telemedicine involves more than just communicating via mobile phone of PDA that sends and receives medical data on Portable Internet. this paper describes the design of a mobile telemedicine PDA prototype based on Embedded Linux that can be used to monitor the medical information using a single board computer(SBC). This system would be very useful for patients with chronic illness, especially in an emergent environment, and for containing medical cost in the aged society.

This research intended to analyse the perception level of seafarers in order to propose enhancement of health management for seafarers and improvement of marine telemedicine assistance system. To this end, questionnaire survey was conducted for 422 seafarers in relation to current status of utilizing Emergency Medical Advice by radio(EMAR). By trading area, experience of benefiting EMAR by coastal seafarers was higher than that of ocean-going seafarers. By kinds of ships the rate of utilizing EMAR by fisherman was higher than that of seafarers of merchant ships. The level of satisfaction on the EMAR was 14.9% and regarded to be very low while the answering rate of necessity and urgency toward introducing marine telemedicine assistance system for the future through utilizing telemedicine equipment what is called U-helath including motion pictures information was very high. The answering rate of willingness to provide their personal health information positively when introducing marine telemedicine system was very high(97.4%). It is thus necessary to permit marine telemedicine service system, establish service model of marine telemedicine through conducting demonstration projects, promote marine telemedicine actively at the level of government, etc.
Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the perception level of Telemedicine among Korean medical doctors. Methods : The on-line survey was administered for Korean Medicine doctors. The survey consisted of 46 questions, addressing issues on concepts and adoption model of Telemedicine. Data were collected from 528 Korean medical doctors, and were analyzed using frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and Kruskalwallis test. Results : The results showed that more than half of respondents had positive attitude towards implementation of Telemedicine in Korean Medicine and conventional medicine areas. Respondents were most positive about the aspect that Telemedicine could reduce 'hospital use by people with disabilities', while they were most concerned about the possibility that patients could be concentrated in large-scale hospitals. As prerequisites for the introduction of Telemedicine, accurate information delivery during remote communication between doctors and patients, clarification of responsibility for Telemedicine at the policy level, and development of equipment for accurate information delivery at the technical level received high responses. Conclusions : Korean Medicine doctors were positive about the implementation of Telemedicine, and they preferred to remote monitoring between doctors and patients. The development of medical equipment for accurate patient information delivery and the establishment of an institutional basis for clarifying responsibilities in case of medical accidents are required.
This research investigates a geographical issue as to which factor discovered in the only Japanese telemedicine with regard to social and medical circumstances performs a role as a determinant in regionalization, especially, local areas in Japan. According to the results, strong human networks based on regionalism are mirrored in regionalization and are associated with not only the development and management of telemedicine operations, but also the choice of telemedicine users concretely. In other words, all processes from the suggestion stage of telemedicine to the practical usage or application stage of telemedicine are involved in the existing human networks within one prefecture (the third diagnostic area); further, personal stakes are transferred to public health care services (telemedicine) and their relationships have been formulated by the telemedicine council including local government, medical association, region-rooted companies, core health centers and universities, etc. Accordingly, the telemedicine council responses to the need of telemedicine users immediately and contributes to develop regional health care. Also, telemedicine users have been connected with each other closely before operating telemedicine; accordingly, the human relationships between doctors and patients or among doctors influence the choice of telemedicine serving sites and their behaviors comes down to regional-based diagnosis via the telemedicine system.
Telemedicine can increase accessibility to advance medical technology at the university hospital for community residents living in a remote area. This paper focused on the economic evaluation of telemedicine to identify important factors influencing costs and benefits and to understand how these factors can be changed to improve economic performance of the telemedicine. When the telemedicine project currently operating in Korea was evaluated based on the traditional cost-benefit analysis, the results showed a heavy net loss wiht a B/C ration of 0.56. As several values were added to the analysis based on the Information Economics approach, B/C ratios steadly increased. When the saving of medical expenses from the early detection of diseases was taken into a consideration, the ration exceeded the break-even point. >From the sensitivity analysis, a number of patients and the cost for equipment and communication were found to be the key factors for influencing economic performance of telemedicine.
This study aimed to investigate the roles of three health-oriented personal factors-health technology innovativeness (HTI), health consciousness (HC), and health information orientation (HIO)-in determining Koreans' perceptions about telemedicine. Based on an extended version of the technology acceptance model (TAM), two perceptual components-perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU)-of telemedicine were considered for this investigation. Data from 699 usable surveys were analyzed using path analysis. The results from the path analysis indicated that while HTI and HC had no or limited effects on the PU and PEOU of telemedicine, the effects of HIO on those two perceptual components of telemedicine were statistically significant. Moreover, the results from the path analysis showed that there were significant regional differences in the effects of HTI and HC on the PU and PEOU of telemedicine. In general, these effects were greater among the metropolitan residents than they were among the rural residents.
In order to reduce public medical expenses as well as to provide effective medical services, telemedicine between doctors and patients is considered as an alternative to the conventional hospital visit. But the medical community has been protesting the introduction of telemedicine for the efficacy and safety reasons. Korean government has been conducting a number of pilot projects to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of telemedicine for more than 10 years. However, still the system is not yet legalized. In this study, we have conducted a telemedicine pilot project in Cambodia for one year, where telemedicine can be more freely exercised. After the project, we conducted a survey based on the 'Rogers diffusion' theory. Survey results show that both physicians and patients are positive about the relative advantage of the telemedicine. However, the complexity and high cost of the equipment used in telemedicine has been found to be a possible obstacle. In addition, we found that there is no problem for providing telemedicine services under challenged environment, such as in Cambodia.

Objective : The aim of this study is to analyze the telemedicine in Japan and discuss the role of the community-based occupational therapy. Methods : This study was collected and analyzed data on telemedicine status in Japan. It examined the definition and forms of telemedicine and analyzed for the appearance to the background telemedicine in Japan. Thus, we discussed the role of the community-based occupational therapy. Results : Due to increased medical costs, low fertility rate and aging in Japan, it had provided the telemedicine as a more efficient form of health care services. Also, telemedicine emerged due to the lack of doctors, development of medical technology, and regional deviation between rural and urban area. In the case of Korea, similar to Japan, therefore, there is a demand for the telemedicine. Conclusion : With regard to telemedicine, occupational therapy in community-based rehabilitation is expected to be able to treat for patients as health care professionals. Therefore the reform of the educational system is needed for this.
Objective: Telemedicine service is gaining importance in remote military areas. This study aimed to explore the mediating effect of user satisfaction on the association between military telemedicine service's quality and customer loyalty. Methods: The research data comprised the results of a satisfaction survey on 1,116 military telemedicine satisfaction surveys conducted from November 1 to November 31, 2021. T-tests and ANOVA were analyzed to confirm the difference in satisfaction and loyalty according to the general characteristics of the study subjects. User satisfaction, customer loyalty, and mediating effects were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. Results: Among the study subjects, 458 were affiliated with the Army, 68 with the Navy, and 36 with the Air Force. Among the quality of telemedicine service, tangibility, reliability, and empathy affected user satisfaction while reliability and empathy affected customer loyalty. Since the standardized coefficient beta of empathy was 0.150 (P=0.018), it was confirmed that it significantly affected customer loyalty by mediating user satisfaction. Conclusion: The telemedicine service's quality affects users' satisfaction and customer loyalty. Moreover, there was the mediating effect of user satisfaction on the association between telemedicine service and customer loyalty. Therefore, the reliability and reliability of the current telemedicine service can be improved through the replacement of outdated equipment and performance improvement, expansion of medicines in telemedicine units, and improvement of medical services through periodic CS education to increase the customers' satisfaction and loyalty.
Background: The use of telemedicine for postoperative visits is increasing, especially in rural areas. Few studies have investigated its use for arthroscopic shoulder patients. This study aims to evaluate patient satisfaction with telemedicine for postoperative clinic visits following arthroscopic shoulder procedures in a rural setting. Methods: Patients were prospectively enrolled using the following exclusion criteria: <18 years, open procedures, and non-compliance follow-up at 6 weeks postoperatively. All patients completed a 13-question satisfaction survey, while telemedicine patients completed an additional, separate seven-question survey. Patients who switched groups completed a four-question prompt to determine the reasons for switching. Differences between groups were evaluated by either Student t-test or Mann-Whitney U-test. Results: The study enrolled 32 patients, with five patients following up by telemedicine and 27 in person. Age and distance from clinic were similar between patients who were assigned to the telemedicine group, completed the telemedicine visit, and opted for in-person visits (all p>0.05). Patient satisfaction did not vary significantly based on care by the surgeon, concerns being addressed, thoroughness of visit, overall clinical assessment at a prior visit, and improvements in pain and physical function (all p>0.05). Among patients who opted out of telemedicine visits, the most common reason was a preference to meet in-person but these patients agreed that telemedicine visits are a good idea. Conclusions: Regardless of type of follow-up, individuals reported similar levels of satisfaction with treatment during the visit and improvements in pain and physical function.
