  • Animation of 3-dimensional humans is a challenging task, however, its realistic synthesis is possible. Essentially, the nature of this project is to demonstrate and study the difficulties faced by an animator in making a movie with a state of art computer animation software (Maya Software by ,alias/wavefront) by creating a movie clip with the above-stated software ourselves. We will also analyze the aspect of automated animation to relieve the animator of some very tedious tasks.

  • 기술혁신의 물결은 크게 일본의 산업계로 불어닥치고 있으며, 종래와 같은 공학계만의 학과로서는 당할 길이 없을 만큼 기술영역의 기술업무가 주요부분을 점유할 것으로 예측된다. 기술이전을 원활화시키기 위해서는 기술이전의 각 단계에서 각각의 과학기술인재가 유효하게 활용되어야할 필요가 더욱 중요하게 된다. 산업기술의 이전에는 민간기술자의 유효한 활용이 불가결한 것이며, 민간기술용역이 중요시되고 있는 것이다. 선단기술의 개발은 일본에서는 석유파동이래 상품혁신시대로 접어들어 기존의 기술진행에 대한 작은 기술개선이 생산성향상과 직결되고 있는 점을 중요시해야 할 것이다. 필자는 기술사로서 경험한 기술개발의 사례에서 산업고고학의 필요성을 통감한 것이다. 지녹기술의 개발수법을 연구하고 그 사례를 들어 기술사로서의 역할을 말한바 있다. 더욱 일본정부가 실시하고 있는 공업기술이전연구소의 계획실적에 언급하고 나아가서는 한국에 대한 의견을 말하고 고도한 기술도입에 따른 체제와 기술사의 적임에 관해서 조언하고 싶다.

  • This Paper analyses characteristics of the numerical controller industry in market formation and the flow of information between users and producers and the characteristic of knowledge base of the industry and discusses the difficulties derived, from the characteristics, in accumulation of technological capability In market formation between users and producers, the multi-layered market is not favorable to domestic producers in that lower end market is not large enough to provide cradle market to them which produce inferior quality and lower price than imported products. The credibility of the performance of a product is difficult to prove until a critical mass of products are sold. Therefore gaining market share is deterred by unproven credibility of the performance of the product. The flow of information between users and producers is limited. The flow of information on users environment through mass market to producers is essential for improving credibility of a product. The nature of knowledge base is tacit and the means of knowledge transmission is limited. Technological licensing and reverse engineering, which have been conventional means of knowledge transmission, are not useful in the numerical controller industry. These characteristics provide conditions of vicious circle in accumulation of technological capability of the numerical controller industry. It is conjectured that these characteristics are derived from the fact that the numerical controller is the result of IT based technological convergence in controlling machining process. This paper argues that these characteristics of the industry challenges existing approach to R&D management and framework of science and technology Policy.

  • After the IMF jurisdiction period, the Korean economy experienced a venture boom. Korean venture enterprises had been recognized that high profitable and high technology capacity based. These ventures also have contributed to national added value tolerably. In particular, Korean information technology (IT) venture companies got away the order of economy concentrated big companies, which were taken the opportunity of new economy to make suggestion of the future courses and to open an e-Korea era. However, IT ventures firms or dotcom enterprises have had difficulties through sinking down their bubbles and slumping technology sector from the first half of the 2000. In consideration of Korea IT venture companies' conditions, Korean government introduce new national vision in order to go ahead of intelligence based society form knowledge based. Korea is planning new investment to meet with the challenge of globalization proactively by national band named u-Korea. As following a step in IT infrastructure, it will give Korean IT ventures new demand creative technologies and services by new technological windows of opportunity. This situation is expected that will become an economic take-off. This paper will look for the way to stimulate Korean IT ventures' competence and present new frontier of IT ventures turnaround.

  • Several strategic system are prepared and designed for the critical technology-21, which is a kind of national R&D program and is based on the $\ulcorner$Special Act for Innovation of Science and Technology$\lrcorner$from early of 1998. Various valuables in social-technological, political-technological and econo- technological points and a new R&D planning method, "scenario method, " are considered and tried for overcoming the socio-economical difficulties of country and strategies of this program which is become a implementation skeleton of critical technology-21 are summarized as a implemental model of national R&D program. And present states, sub-projects of same research program are analyzed by type of research group and valuables.

개발도상국기업의 기술창출단계 기술혁신: 프로세스 기술개발 사례연구 (Developing Country Firm's Technological Innovation in the Technology Generation Stage: Process Technology Development Case Study)

  • 선도적으로 기술창출단계의 기술혁신에 성공하여 최초경로로 기술리더가 된 국내기업에 대한 혁신 연구는 새롭게 도전하려는 국내기업과 개발도상국기업에게 시행착오를 줄일 수 있는 시사점을 제공할 수 있다. 그러나 개발도상국기업의 기술창출단계 혁신에 대한 연구가 부족하며, 특히 프로세스혁신에 대한 연구는 제품혁신연구에 비해 더욱 부족한 상황이다. 본 연구는 기술창출단계의 프로세스 기술혁신 프로젝트를 대상으로 하는 탐색적 연구이다. 최초경로로 기술리더가 된 POSCO의 FINEX(파이넥스) 사례에서는 기술창출단계 혁신은 기술내재화단계 고도화의 연장선이라기보다는 높은 위험을 감수하는 최고경영층의 결단에 의해 시도되는 불연속적인 특성이 있으며, 기술창출단계 혁신을 시작하는 개발도상국기업이 일반적으로 초기에 직면하는 원천기술을 개발을 위한 기술역량의 부족은 원천기술을 개발 중인 선발자와의 보완적 기술협력을 통해 극복하였다. 그리고 선진국 경쟁자보다 뒤늦게 기술 개발을 시작하였지만 가장 먼저 상용화단계에 도달할 수 있었던 것은 기술개발 가속화(Speed-up)로 기술개발속도에 영향을 주는 세부요인을 파악하였다.

Performance evaluation of an underwater body and pumpjet by model testing in cavitation tunnel

  • Experimental investigations were carried out on an Axi-symmetric Body Model fitted with Pump-jet Propulsor (PJP) in the Cavitation Tunnel at Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL). The tests were intended for evaluating the propulsion characteristics of the body and propulsor. The self propulsion point of the model for two configurations was determined after finding the corrections for tunnel blockage effects and differences in model length at zero trim. The results were found to match closely with the towing tank results. The rotor and stator torques also matched closely over full range of experiment. Further experiments were carried out on the body at $4.5^{\circ}$ angle of trim to investigate the propulsive performance and assess the operational difficulties in the sea. The results indicated an increase in resistance and decrease in rotor thrust; but the balance of torques between the rotor and stator was undisturbed, causing no concern to vehicle roll.
