Compressive Sensing (CS) has been widely studied as a promising technique in many applications. The CS theory tells that a signal that is known to be sparse in a specific basis can be reconstructed using convex optimization from far fewer samples than traditional methods use. In this paper, we apply CS technique to Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems which employ uniform linear arrays (ULA). Especially, we investigate the problem of finding the direction-of-arrival (DOA) using CS technique and compare the performance with the conventional adaptive MIMO techniques. The results suggest the CS method can provide the similar performance with far fewer snapshots than the conventional adaptive techniques.

In wireless communication systems, transmission errors degrade the reconstructed image quality severely. Among various techniques which reduce the degradation, the error concealment technique yields good performance without overheads and the modification of the encoder. In this paper, we have proposed the technique for recovering the corrupted motion vector using the edge direction of blocks which surround the corrupted block, when the video information is compressed by H.263 standard. We uses the property that each object in video sequences shows the same motion. For the estimation of edge directions, the first AC coefficients of blocks are used. Extensive simulation results show that the proposed technique yields good performance with a reduced computational complexity.

In this paper, We propose a new technique extract efficiently a car number plate based on edge projection. In order to obtain the region of car number plate, we use a motive that the luminance differences between the number plate background and characters. And, we introduce a projection technique to obtain character parts based on edge image. In vertical direction. we propose a shape matching method. Specially the new number plate standard has more characters than the old one in horizontal direction and, it is efficiently used to extract the number plate. Therefore, the proposed technique is useful to the new number plate standard. In simulation results. We have illustrated that our algorithm can recognize different number plates with a success ration of 90%.
The precision and reliability of the Computer Image Analysis technique using a desk top computer for extracting information from carcass cross section scans was evaluated by the repeatability (R) and coefficient of variation (CV) for error variance. The 6th and 7th ribs cross section of carcasses from 55 fattened Japanese Black steers were used. The image analysis was conducted using a desk top computer (Macintosh-Apple Vision 1710 Display) connected to a scanner and an image capture camera. Two software applications, Adobe Photoshop and Mac Scope were used interchangeably. The information extracted and measured were individual muscle area, circumference length, long and short axes lengths, muscle direction; distance between any two muscle centers of gravity; cross section total area, lean, fat, and bone. The information was extracted after the processes of scanning, digitization, masking, muscle separation, and binarization. When using the Computer Image Analysis technique by desk top computer, proper digitization and selection of scanning resolution are very important in order to obtain accurate information. The R-values for muscle area, circumference, long and axes lengths, and direction ranged from 0.95 to 0.99, whereas those of the distance between any two muscle centers of gravity ranged from 0.96 to 0.99, respectively. For the cross section total area, lean, fat, and bone it ranged from 0.83 to 0.99. Excellent repeatability measurements were observed for muscle direction and distance between any two muscle centers of gravity. The results indicate that the Computer Image Analysis technique using a desk top computer for extracting information from carcass cross section is reliable and has high precision.

We present an efficient technique, bidirectioanl inertial maximum cost search technique, for th edetection and segmentation of circular shaped objects using the spatial information around the neighborhood of the boundary candidates. This technique searches boundary candidates using local pixdl information such as pixel value and its direction. And then to exclude pseudo-boundary caused by shadows or noises, the local contrast is defined between the clique of the boundary candidates and the cliques of the background. In order to effectively segment circular shaped boundary, the technique also uses the curvature based on trigonometirc function which determines circular shaped boundary segments. Since the proposed technique is applied to the pixel cliques instead of a pixel itself, it is proposed method can easily find out circular boundaries form iamges of the PCB containing circular shaped parts and the trees with round fruits compared to boundary detection by using the pixel information and the laplacian curvature.
This paper presents the method to provide a fast service for user in image manipulation such as zooming and panning of huge size high resolution satellite image(e.g. Giga bytes per scene). The proposed technique is based on the hierarchical structure that has 3D-Tiling in horizontal and vertical direction to provide the image service more effectively than 2D-Tiling technique in the past does. The essence of the proposed technique is to create tiles of optimum level in real time on the basis of current displaying area, which change as user manipulates huge image. Consequently, this technique provides seamless service, and will be very powerful and useful for manipulation of images of huge size without data conversion.
Due to development of digital technology, a concept of stage design management is being changed. In addition, stage management technique is changing a viewpoint of the audience watching a stage through the convergence of analogue and digital technology. Three-dimensional media such as LED and hologram and works combining with previous stage performances are rising, and the audience's requirements about spectacles on the stage are increasingly higher. Interaction between a stage, audiences and actors is a communication tool by a work story and its direction. In other words, stage design should newly focus on not only concluded work story but also comprehensive delivery of direction and the expression and extreme delivery. Therefore, this study aims to examine how to combine analogue and digital direction elements in the stage design. To this end, this study looks into everything the audience feels through performances and analogue and digital elements directed for performances and then analyzes and arranges them to present a possibility of various types of work performances. Stage structure, set, and lighting that are analogue direction elements are the basis of stage performance. Analogue direction elements mean a media vehicle that can differentiate except for basic direction of each work. This study aims to analyze new performance culture when analog and digital direction elements are combined through stage performance and a possibility of new stage performance. In addition, through this it desired to seek for a development possibility of Korean leisure culture and art culture. As the work cases, this study shows 10 works through actual stage performances held in Korea and introduces elements directed in those works.

The crystallographic grain orientation of {{{{ { ZrB}_{2 } }}}}-ZrC composite sintered by pressureless a sintering(PLS) and
spark plasma sintering (SPS) was analysed by the SEM-EBSP technique. In the case of PLS, (160) plane of {{{{ { ZrB}_{2 } }}}} was
oriented to ND direction, (101) and (111) plane of ZrC were oriented to ND direction. In the case of SPS, (0001) plane
of {{{{ { ZrB}_{2 } }}}} was strongly oriented to ND direction. Only (001) plane of ZrC was oriented to ND direction. The PLS specimen
had weakly oriented grain structure and interface between {{{{ { ZrB}_{2 } }}}} and ZrC was found to be more stable than that of SPS
but the SPS specimen had a preferentially oriented grain structure.

In this paper, the performance of AP(Alternating Projection) and EM(Expectation Maximization) algorithms is investigated in terms of detection of multiple signals, resolvability of coherent signals and the efficiency of sensor array processing. The basic idea of these algorithms is utilization of relaxation technique of successive 1D maximization to solve a direction finding problem by maximizing the multidimensional likelihood function. It means that the function is maximized over only for a single parameter while the other parameters are fixed at each step of the iteration. According to simulation results, the algorithms showed good performance for both incoherent and coherent multiple signals. Moreover, some advantages are identified for direction finding with very small samples and fast convergence. The performance of AP algorithm is compared with that of EM using multiple criteria such as the number of sensor, SNR, the number of samples, and convergence speed over uniform circular array. It is resulted AP algorithm is superior to EM overally except for one criterion, convergence speed. Especially, for EM algorithm there is no performance difference between incoherent and coherent case. In conclusion, AP and EM are viable and practical alternatives, which can be applied to a direction under due to the resolvability of multi-path signals, reliable performance and no troublesome eigen-decomposition of the sample-covariance matrix.

The technique for estimation of sound source direction is one of the important methods necessary for various engineering fields such as monitoring system, military services and so on. As a new approach for estimation of sound source direction, this paper propose the bio-mimetic localization sensor based on mechanically coupling structure motivated by hearing structure of fly, Ormia Ochracea. This creature is known for its outstanding recognition ability to the sound which has large wavelength compared to its own size. ITTF (Inter-Tympanal Transfer Function) which is the transfer function between displacements of the tympanal membranes on each side has the all inter-tympanal information dependent on sound direction. The peak and notch features of desired ITTF can be generated by using the appropriate mechanical properties. A example of estimation of sound source direction using generated ITTF with monotonically changing notch and peak patterns is shown.
