In many very high density cities in Asia in which there is limited area to expand, growth is forced upward as well as outward. Densely packed detached houses and low-rise buildings are replaced by lower density high-rises, leaving open spaces between high-rise buildings. Through this process, areas that formerly did not have much green space gain valuable green spaces, and new ecological corridors and patches are created. In this study, the demographic and housing-type changes of Wonju City were delineated using land use maps, aerial images, census data, and other administrative data. Green area changes were calculated using land cover data derived from multi-year Landsat TM satellite imagery. The values were then compared against demographic and housing-type changes for each administrative unit. The overall results showed a decrease of forested area in the city and an increase of developed area. Urban sprawl was clearly visible in many of the suburban areas. However, as expected, we also detected areas in which greenness did not decrease when the population greatly increased. These areas were characterized by residential building complexes of ten or more stories. If an equal number of housing units had been built as detached houses, these areas would not have kept as much green space. Our research result showed that high-density and high-rise residential structures can offer an alternative means to protect or create urban green spaces in high-density urban environments.

In line with the trend of global transport volume which has increased rapidly over the years, internal transportation in seaports is always conducted with high frequency. Thus, there is always much potential for traffic jams as well as high transportation costs and emissions. Many efforts have been initiated to streamline the inter-terminal container transport (ITT) through the development of automated vehicles and equipment as well as using private transport facilities to overcome these limitations. The purpose of this paper to develop a framework to design, analyze, and validate the efficiency of a new ITT system in a port area based on the monorail network and automatic vehicles. First, the number of shuttles and loaders was determined depending on the transport demand scenario. Next, a simulation model was applied to evaluate the system performance as well as gain more insight into the working process of the ITT system. Finally, by setting goals for the performance indicators, the results showed that the system was highly efficient with 100% of the containers delivered to their destination on time. Besides, a series of other performance tracking was provided to provide insight into the system's capabilities.

D-Cube City is a recently completed multi purpose building consisting of four types of facilities; offices, a department store, a hotel, and congregation spaces. A community energy supply system(CES) has been installed to supply this building with electricity, steam, heat, and cold water. The BEMS, building energy management system, is currently being designed to reduce building energy consumption through the efficient operation of the various pieces of building service equipment. In this study the optimal methods for operating the CES of D-Cube City were considered. This system includes three combined heat and power systems, seven steam boilers, two hot water boilers, two absorption chillers, and four turbo chillers, and various other pieces of equipment. In result, the optimal methods of operating the CES for various energy demand levels were obtained along with the seasonal effects on the economic efficiency of the operation. The effect of the amount of energy demanded by the various facility areas on the total energy consumption was also analyzed.

The excavation site in the new city of inchon songdo is distributed with soft reclaimed soil and marine deposit. So, the general ground anchor is not applied to this layer of soft ground as the earth retaining support system, because of settlement. And then, Jacket pack anchor which is newly developed in order to increasing the pullout resistance by certain grout bulb formation and expansion effect in soft ground is applied to this site instead of the general ground anchor. Though the maximum horizontal displacement shows about 30mm~100mm (The maximum horizontal displacement/excavation depth$\fallingdotseq$0.32~1.0%) according to excavation sequence, generally excavation work finished stably. Also, load cell after setting shows almost increasing trend with increasing horizontal displacement. It means that the settlement of Jacket pack anchor in soft ground is good. From the result of this case, we knew that Jacket pack anchor was able to use the earth retaining support system in soft ground. Using Jacket pack anchor in soft ground, The allowance of the horizontal displacement is applied more than general value considering soil factors.
Most of the small wind turbines are set as the stand alone type in the area where the access to the grid is difficult and compulsorily uses the battery. Depending on the volume of the battery, securing of the space necessary, and has the shortcoming of replacing the battery periodically due to it's limited working life span. Recently, setting up in the vicinity of the city area is increasing and the trend of using the Grid inverter instead of battery is also increasing. This thesis is aiming mainly analyzing the characteristics of the output power of the Prototype Permanent Magnet Generator(PMG) and the Grid-Inverter and to verify through the theoretical study and tests. Tested the characteristics of the output power of the PMG through the stage 1-2 and at the stage 3 connected the output of the PMG to the Inverter and tested the characteristics of the Inverter. And at the stage 4, the maximum output power is confirmed by the continuous running test of the PMG.

A wide variety of image application methods, such as aerial image, terrestrial image, terrestrial laser, and stereo image point are currently under investigation to develop three-dimensional 3D geospatial information. In this study, matching points, which are needed to build a 3D model, were examined under diverse weather conditions by analyzing the stereo images recorded by closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in the U-City. The tests on illuminance and precipitation conditions showed that the changes in the number of matching points were very sensitively correlated with the changes in the illuminance levels. Based on the performances of the CCTV cameras used in the test, this study was able to identify the optimal values of the shutter speed and iris. As a result, compared to an automatic control mode, improved matching points may be obtained for images filmed using the data obtained through this test in relation to different weather and illuminance conditions.
A Study on the application of ultrasonic with high frequency is carried out as a plan to rise the efficiency of the hydrogen fuel production in an electrolysis of water. KOH is selected as an electrolyte and concentrations are 0 %, 10 %, 20 %, and 30%. The solvent is city water. A measurable device of buoyancy by an electronic balance and a measurable device of voltage with a sensor of pressure are planned newly as a measuring device to measure the quantity of hydrogen production. An ultrasonic transducer with high frequency of 2 MHz is selected to give them the ultrasonic forcing. In results, it is clarified that ultrasonic influences the decrease of overpotential in the electrolytic solution. And basic data according to the pole interval and the temperature are obtained.
This study focuses on exploring the behaviours of high-tech start-up firms in response to the policy interventions undertaken to promote regional innovation in South Korea since 1997. High-tech start-ups and their technological entrepreneurship are increasingly considered by policy makers and academics to play a crucial role in the generation of innovation and economic development. However, this study started from a basic concern of why government intervention does not necessarily result in an increase of regional innovation capacity. To explain this concern, we constructed a new conceptual framework of 'government dependency' and apply this to 'Daedeok,' a regional innovation system in South Korea, to explore the reproduction of path dependency as an impact induced by innovation policy. This conceptual framework was developed by remodeling path dependency approaches through a systemic and interactive lens. An empirical study used qualitative interviews of start-up founders to delineate the emergence of a new development path and the extent to which dependency was reproduced in the Daedeok regional innovation system. Empirical analysis suggested that 'reliance' and 'persistence' were the crucial factors in the production and reproduction of the government dependency. Some firms accepted dependency as reliance, but others regarded it as policy utilization. Thus, a critical juncture could not be clearly identified in actors' behaviour. It was also unclear if dependency had hindered innovation, but it was shown that the regional and institutional contexts strongly influenced the reproduction process. The study concludes that the construct of government dependency can also provide useful insights into policy learning as well as the success of government interventions.
