  • View targets have been studied extensively in terms of an aesthetic value and a monetary asset. But there was actually deficient in the research about a variety of view targets. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to classify systematically into diverse view targets in an apartment unit by the use of both the literature methods and the questionnaire-interview survey. In result, the view targets in an apartment unit were categorized by two large groups which are a natural-type and an artificial-type view. The former was subdivided into a pure natural-type and a man-made natural-type view, while the latter was subdivided into a building-type, a street-furniture-type, a road-type, a open-space-type, and a tower-type view. Consequently, this study might be applied to the understanding of the quality of residential environment as a basis.

  • The basic idea of Quality Function Deployment(QFD) is to deploy the voice of customers into the final product through product planning, part planning, process planning, and manufacturing. In the product planning stage, which is the first stage of product development, customer attributes(CAs) are translated into engineering characteristics(ECs). Then, based on the relationship between CAs and ECs, the target values of ECs are determined. In the previous research, the process of analyzing these relationships is mostly subjective in nature. In this article, we formulate the process of determining the target values of ECs as an optimization model. That is, we first determine the relationship between CAs and ECs as cumulative logit models and construct constraints into which the company strategy as well as the needs of customers can be incorprated. Next, cost functions of ECs are developed, which are summed into an objective function. An algorithm to solve the formulated optimization problem is developed and illustrated with an example.

  • Process adjustment Is a complimentary tool to process monitoring in process control. Process adjustment directs on maintaining a process output close to a target value by manipulating another controllable variable, by which significant process improvement can be achieved. Therefore, this approach can be applied to the 'Improve' stage of Six Sigma strategy. Though the optimal control rule minimizes process variability in general, it may not properly function when special causes occur in underlying process, resulting in off-target bias and increased variability in the adjusted output process, possibly for long periods. In this paper, we consider a responsive feedback control system and the minimum mean square error control rule. The bias in the adjusted output process is investigated in a general framework, especially focussing on stationary underlying process and the special cause of level shift type. Illustrative examples are employed to illustrate the issues discussed.

  • Genetic Algorithm (GA) is applied to obtain optimal Inspection plan for fatigue deteriorating structures. The optimization problem is defined so as to minimize inspection cost in the 1ifs-time of the structure under the constraint that the increment of failure probability in each inspection interval is maintained below a target value. Optimization parameters are the inspection timing and the inspection quality. The inspection timing is selected from the discrete intervals such as one year, two years, three years, etc. The inspection quality is selected from the followings; no inspection, normal inspection, sampling inspection or precise inspection. The applicability of the proposed GA approach is demonstrated through the numerical calculations assuming a structure consisting of four member sets. Influences of the level of target failure probability, initial defect condition and stress increase due to plate thickness reduction caused by corrosion on inspection planning are discussed.

  • Hot air drying is a method that let moistures evaporate by heat exchange between heating air and dry target. This way is dominating more than about 70% of dryers that the use extent is wide fairly, and is established in domestic than dryer that use conduction or radiation etc. Most of research about drying had been emphasized in size of device through analysis for these dry phenomenon plain, heating topology, and aspect of form and so on by dry target's special quality, and research about device development or waste heat withdrawal technology in energy utilization efficiency side is slight real condition. Therefore, in this study, Investigated numerically about thermal efficiency elevation that is leaned against as that change the temperature of inlet and outlet in heat exchanger of the hot air drying tower.

  • A fast converging coding algorithm that adaptively selects the modes of macroblocks is introduced. For a given frame, the optimal modes are selected based on the decision curves that minimize the overall distortion at a given bit rate. The method proposed in this paper is different from the conventional ones in that it does not manipulate the quantizer to meet the target bit rate but it satisfies the target bit rate by finding optimal modes of macroblocks which result consistent visual quality. Lagrange multiplier of the unconstrained cost function is controlled to trigger decision curves to generate appropriate modes to meet bit rate and the curve is obtained by utilizing simulated annealing optimization technique. The algorithm is implemented within H.261 video codec and simulation results demonstrate superior visual quality.

  • We consider the determinant of the most economical target value through the sampling inspection by two consecutive machines. The machine sequence is fixed as products have to be processed by machine 1 first and then by machine 2 next, In this paper we assume that if quality of a unit is lower than inspection lower specification limited then the goods is not accepted, otherwise it is accepted. And we assume that the quality characteristics is larger-the-better characteristics and its distribution is the normal distribution whose standard deviation is known. This paper ends up with an numerical example by using the total expected profit function model that consider the scales profits inspection costs and material costs. And we analyze the variation of the total expected profit by changing coefficients of the functions.

  • This paper propose a fuzzy regression method using fuzzy neural networks when a membership value is attached to each input -output pair. First, an architecture of fuzzy neural networks with fuzzy weights and fuzzy biases is shown. Next, a cost function is defined using the fuzzy output from the fuzzy neural network and the corresponding target output with a membership value. A learning algorithm is derived from the cost function. The derived learning algorithm trains the fuzzy neural network so that the level set of the fuzzy output includes the target output. Last, the proposed method is applied to the quality evaluation problem of injection molding

  • To translate in real time, a simultaneous translation system should determine when to stop reading source tokens and generate target tokens corresponding to a partial source sentence read up to that point. However, conventional attention-based neural machine translation (NMT) models cannot produce translations with adequate latency in online scenarios because they wait until a source sentence is completed to compute alignment between the source and target tokens. To address this issue, we propose a reinforced learning (RL)-based attention mechanism, the reinforced attention mechanism, which allows a neural translation model to jointly train the stopping criterion and a partial translation model. The proposed attention mechanism comprises two modules, one to ensure translation quality and the other to address latency. Different from previous RL-based simultaneous translation systems, which learn the stopping criterion from a fixed NMT model, the modules can be trained jointly with a novel reward function. In our experiments, the proposed model has better translation quality and comparable latency compared to previous models.

  • This study introduces an innovative model for zero-shot voice conversion that utilizes the capabilities of HuBERT. Zero-shot voice conversion models can transform the speech of one speaker to mimic that of another, even when the model has not been exposed to the target speaker's voice during the training phase. Comprising five main components (HuBERT, feature encoder, flow, speaker encoder, and vocoder), the model offers remarkable performance across a range of scenarios. Notably, it excels in the challenging unseen-to-unseen voice-conversion tasks. The effectiveness of the model was assessed based on the mean opinion scores and similarity scores, reflecting high voice quality and similarity to the target speakers. This model demonstrates considerable promise for a range of real-world applications demanding high-quality voice conversion. This study sets a precedent in the exploration of HuBERT-based models for voice conversion, and presents new directions for future research in this domain. Despite its complexities, the robust performance of this model underscores the viability of HuBERT in advancing voice conversion technology, making it a significant contributor to the field.
