In this study, we have fabricated amorphous FeZrBAg thin films with low core losses by using DC magnetron sputtering method. After deposition, rotational field annealing (RFA) method was performed in the dc field of 1.5 kOe. The amorphous FeZrBAg thin films produced by annealing at 35$0^{\circ}C$ was founded to have high permeability of 8680 at 100 MHz, 0.2 mOe, low coercivity of 0.86 Oe high magnetization of 1.5 T and very low core loss of 1.3 W/cc at 1 MHz, 0.IT respectively. Excellent soft magnetic properties in a amorphous FeZrBAg thin films in the present study are presumably the homogeneous formation of very fine bcc $\alpha$-Fe crystalline with the 8.2 nm in an amorphous FeZrBAg thin film matrix.
Conventional decontamination methods utilize water-based systems, which generate high amounts of secondary wastes. Herein, we describe an environmentally benign decontamination method using liquid and supercritical $CO_2$. The use of $CO_2$ as a solvent affords effective waste reduction by its ability to be recycled, thereby leaving be hind only the contaminants upon its evaporation. In this study, a $CO_2$ solution process was assessed using t-salen(t-butylsalen), DC18C6 (dicyclohexano-18Crown6), 8-HQN(8-hydroxyquinoline), NEt4PFOSA(perfluoro-1-octanesulfonic acid tetra-ethyl ammonium salt), and NEt4PFOA(pentadecafluorooctanoic acid ammonium salt) to extract spiked radioactive contaminants(Nb,Zr,Co,Sr) from an inert sample matrix, namely filter paper. With the static extraction method, Sr was extracted with a maximum extraction rate of 97%, and Nb was extracted with a maximum extraction rate of 75%. Additionally, we were also able to extract Co and Zr with maximum extract ion ratesof 73% and 64%, respectively.
Y2O3-CeO2-ZrO2 powders were prepared from water-soluble salts using a coprecipitation method. The forming process of oxide and the characteristics of the calcined powders treated in different drying conditions were investigated. The oxidation was occurred at the temperature of around 40$0^{\circ}C$ and the main crystallization of ZrO2 around $600^{\circ}C$. On calcination at $600^{\circ}C$ heating lamp-dried powders consisted of agglomerates of globular morphology with average agglomerate size of 2.27${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and specific surface area of 68.3m2/g and spray dried powders contained dense spheric particles with average agglomerate size of 1.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and specific surface area of 11.0m2/g which exhibited low agglomeration tendency. Removal of the water by a freeze-drying technique produced calcined powders containing flake-like secondary particle structures with wide agglomerate size distri-bution of 0.1-60${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and specific surface area of 24.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The 20 MPa-pressed density (36.8-41.4% T,D) of calcined powders did not nealy depend on drying methods whilst compaction ratio of calcined powders derived from freeze-drying was the highest ( 6.24) among three drying methods. On continuous heating up to 150$0^{\circ}C$ the sinterability of calcined powders derived from heating lamp-drying was superior to those derived from spray-and freeze-drying. The final sintered density of calcined powders was the highest (96% T,D at 150$0^{\circ}C$) in case of heating lamp-drying.
To improve the ductility of mTEX>$(Al +12.5%Cu)<_3$Zr intermetallics, which are the potential high temperature structural materials, the mechanical alloying behavior, the effect of pressure and temperature on the $Ll_2$, phase formation and the behavior of the cold isostatic press and sintering were investigated. However mechanically alloyed A1$_3$Zr alloy have been known to have high mechanical strength even at high temperature, its workability was poor. A method of solution is refined grain size and phase transformation from $DO_{23}$ to $Ll_2$.$ Ll_2$ structure TEX>$(Al+12.5%Cu)<_3$Zr with nanocrystalline microstructure intermetallic powders where were prepared by mechanical alloying of elemental powders. Grain sizes of the as milled powders were less than 10nm (from transmission electron microscopy, TEM). Thermal analyses showed that $Ll_2$ structure was stable up to$ 800^{\circ}C$ for 1hour $(Al+ 12.5%Cu)<_3$Zr. $(Al+12.5%Cu)<_3$Zr has been consolidated by cold isostatic pressing (CIP 138, 207, 276, 414MPa) at room temperature and subsequent heat treatment at high temperatures where $Ll_2$ structure was stable under vacuum atmosphere. The results showed that 94.2% density of Ll$_2$ compacts was obtained for the (Al +12.5%Cu)$_3$Zr by sintering at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 1hour (under CIPed 207MPa). This compact of the grain size was 40nm.
The mullite-15v/o ZrO2 composites were prepared by dispersing ZrO2-3m/o Y2O3 powders into the mullite matrix in order to improve the mechanical properties of the mullite. The densification and retention of t-ZrO2 in the matrix of synthetic mullite were also investigated. From IR spectroscopic analysis, the obtained amorphous SiO2-Al2O3 powder was observed to have Si-O-Al chemical bond in its structure which might result in the homogeneous mullite composition. The lattice parameter of the mullite powder calcined above 130$0^{\circ}C$ (a0=7.5468$\AA$) is nearly close to the value of stoichiometric mullite (71.8wt% Al2O3, a0=7.5456$\AA$). The sintering behavior, microstructure, flexural strength and fracture toughness of the mullite and mullite-15v/o ZrO2 composites have been studied. The mullite-15v/o ZrO2(+3m/o Y2O3) ceramics with relative densities of 96% were obtained when sintered at 1$600^{\circ}C$. The flexural strength and fractrue toughness of the composites sintered at 1$600^{\circ}C$(calcination temperature of mullite powders ; 125$0^{\circ}C$) had maximum values of 307MPa and 2.50MPa.m1/2, respectively. The fracture toughness improvement in the mullite-ZrO2 cmoposite is assumed to be resulted from the combined effect of the stress-induced phase transformation of tetragonal ZrO2 and the crack deflection due to microcracking by the monoclinic ZrO2 formation.
We investigated the flux pinning properties of both 10 mol% Zr-and Sn-doped $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ (YBCO) films with the same thickness of ~350 nm for a comparative purpose. The films were prepared on the $SrTiO_3$ (STO) single crystal substrate by the metal-organic deposition (MOD) process. Compared with Sn-doped YBCO film, Zr-doped one exhibited a significant enhancement in the critical current density ($J_c$) and pinning force density ($F_p$). The anisotropic $J_{c,min}/J_{c,max}$ ratio in the field-angle dependence of $J_c$ at 77 K for 1 T was also improved from 0.23 for Sn-doped YBCO to 0.39 for Zr-doped YBCO. Thus, the highest magnetic $J_c$ values of 9.0 and $2.9MA/cm^2$ with the maximum $F_p$ ($F_{p,max}$) values of 19 and $5GN/m^3$ at 65 and 77 K for H // c, respectively, could be achieved from Zr-doped YBCO film. The stronger pinning effect in Zr-doped YBCO film is attributable to smaller $BaZrO_3$ (BZO) nanoparticles (the average size ${\approx}28.4$ nm) than $YBa_2SnO_{5.5}$ (YBSO) nanoparticles (the average size ${\approx}45.0$ nm) incorporated in Sn-doped YBCO film since smaller nanoparticles can generate more defects acting as effective flux pinning sites due to larger incoherent interfacial area for the same doping concentration.
The Cu-based bulk glassy alloys in Cu-Zr-Ti-Ni systems were prepared by means of copper mold casting. The Cu-based bulk glassy alloys samples were tested by X-ray diffractomer (XRD), differential scanning calorimeter, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Instron testing machine and Vickers hardness instruments. The result indicated that the prepared Cu-Zr-Ti-Ni alloys were bulk glassy alloys. The temperature interval of supercooled liquid region (${\Delta}T_x$) was about 45.48 to 70.98 K for the Cu-Zr-Ti-Ni alloy. The Vickers hardness was up to 565 HV for the $Cu_{50}Zr_{25}Ti_{15}Ni_{10}$ bulk glassy alloy. The $Cu_{50}Zr_{25}Ti_{15}Ni_{10}$ bulk glassy alloys were annealed in order to obtain nanocrystals. The results showed that the Vickers hardness was raise up to 630 HV from 565 HV. As shown in XRD results, the amorphous alloys changed to nanocrystals, which were $Cu_8Zr_3$, $Cu_3Ti_2$ and CuZr, improved the hardness. The SEM analysis showed that the compression fractured morphology of amorphous alloys was brittle fracture, and the fracture morphology after annealing was ductile fracture. This proved that annealing of amorphous to nanocrystals can improve the plasticity and toughness of amorphous alloys.
Widely used dielectrics, barium titanate was promising material for ceramic capacitor. It was produced by specific formulation with various dopants-La2O3, ZrO2, SnO2, CaZrO3, CaTiO3, CaSnO3, Bi2O3, and etc.-according to demanded properties of capacitor. In this study, we would examinate the study of dielectric properties and temperatuer characteristics (T.C.) with the amount of Bi2O3. The sample was prepared with [BaTiO3]10+[BaZrO3, SnO2, La2O3, ZrO2]10 and Bi2O3 varied from 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 to 3.0wt%. After milling and mixing for 15hrs, each sample was dried and then pressed at 700kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ into pellets. Pellets were fired at 131$0^{\circ}C$, for 3hrs in air. As the result of measurements, dielectric constant, break down voltage, and insulation resistance were increased with the amount of Bi2O3, and the resonant frequency was shifted from high frequency to low frequency range. In the case of temperature characteristics, capacitance change rate was symmetrically changed at -$25^{\circ}C$ and +85$^{\circ}C$ respectively. Therefore, it is recognized that the temperature characteristics can be moderated with doping Bi2O3 in our study.
Lead-free compound $(Na_{0.5}Bi_{0.5})(Zr_{0.75}Ti_{0.25})O_3$ was prepared using conventional ceramic technique at $1070^{\circ}C$/4h in air atmosphere. X-ray diffraction analysis showed the formation of single-phase orthorhombic structure. Permittivity data showed low temperature coefficient of capacitance ($T_{CC}{\approx}5%$) up to $100^{\circ}C$. Complex impedance studies indicated the presence of grain boundary effect, non-Debye type dielectric relaxation and evidences of a negative temperature coefficient of resistance. The ac conductivity data were used to evaluate the density of states at Fermi level and apparent activation energy of the compound.

Electrical conductivities of $(ZrO_2)_x-(Tm_2O_3)_y$ systems containing 1, 3 and 5mol% of $ZrO_2$ have been measured as a function of temperature and of oxygen partial pressure at temperatures from 600 to 1,100$^{\circ}$C and oxygen partial pressures from $10^{-5}$ to $2{\times}10^{-1}atm$. Plots of log conductivity vs. 1/T are found to be linear and average activation energy is 1.51 eV. The electrical conductivity dependences on PO$_2$ are different at two temperature regions, indicating ${\sigma}{\alpha}PO_2^{1/5.3}$ and ${\sigma}{\alpha}PO_2^{1/10.7}$ at high-and low-temperature regions, respectively. The defect of $(ZrO_2)_x-(Tm_2O_3)_y$ system is $V_{Tm}^{'''}$ and an electron hole is suggested as a carrier at high temperature region. At low temperature region, a mixed ionic and hole conduction is reasonable.
