This paper aimed to study and understand the mechanical phenomena of thermal elasto-plastic behavior on the dissimilar butt joint (Al 6061-T6 and STS304) by TIG assisted Friction Stir Welding. Heat conduction and residual stress analysis is carried out using in-house solver. Two-dimensional results of the heat distribution and residual stresses in dissimilar joint for particular tool geometry and material properties are presented. The predicted stress along longitudinal direction in Al 6061-T6 and STS304 are approximately between 12-15% of their respective yield strengths. A comparison is made between experimentally measured and numerically predicted equivalent residual stress values.

Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) is the causal agent of one of the most important diseases of citrus. Recently, CTV has been detected in Cheju Island by ELISA. The coat protein (CP) gene of CTV isolated form Cheju Island was cloned by RT-PCR and the nucleotide was analyzed in this study. Citrus leaves were collected from trees showing decline symptoms from various region of Cheju Island in the summer of 1998 and 1999. The CP gene open reading frame is composed of 670 nucleotides and encodes a polypeptide of 223 amono acids. Sequence analysis the CP gene revealed that two CTV strains present in Cheju Island. Viruses collected form Sogwipo area and Cheju City area in 1999 ahowed 91-93% nucleotide sequence homology with CTV T36 strain. Viruses collected form Cheju City area in 1999 and Sogwipo City in 1998 showed 94-98% nucleotide sequence homology with CTV SY568 strain. A efficient viral RNA extraction methods was developed by modifying procedure for animal virus RNA purification methods and PCR product was detected form one tenth of RNA purified from as small as 45 mg fresh or frozen tissue.

The train ferry, accommodating trains roll on and off, is often called as 'Railway on the Sea' or 'Blue High-way' since she can connect the railways or roads segregated by the sea and improve the accessibility and continuity of land transport systems. The ferry is especially appropriate to the intermodal transport routes mostly passing through the land but have relatively short sea segment. As the train ferry can considerably reduce the cost and time for cargo handling and modal shift and unnecessitates excessive initial investment on infrastructures such as large harbor cranes or vast container yards, introduction of train Ro-Ro ferries lessen the total transport cost for door-to-door transportation with full exploitation of the existing railway system. All the ports placed in Shandong, Liaoning and Jiangsu provinces of China are connected to the hinterlands via well developed railway and road systems. Therefore, realization of the Incheon-Yantai train ferry system will link Korea railways to TCR and the 4,131-kilometer-long Longhai-Lanxin Railway, along the famous Eurasian Continental Bridge. In the present paper, the Incheon-Yantai train ferry will be introduced as a good example of an efficient multimodal short sea shipping system for Northeast Asia.

축소배율(5$\times$)을 갖고, Seidel 1차 수차중 4개의 비축수차인 코마(coma), 비점수차(astigmatism), 상면만곡(field curvature) 그리고 왜곡수차(distortion)가 제거된 마이크로 리소그라피를 위한 4-구면 반사경 광학계를 해석적으로 구하였다. 이때, $t=d_1+d_2+d_3$<0, (di는 반사거울 $c_i$와 $c_{i+1}$ 사이의 거리)이고, 축상 수차인 구면수차와 잔류고차수차는 반사거울 $c_3$와 $c_4$를 비구면화 하므로서 제거하였다. 이렇게 설계된 4-반사경 광학계의 N.A.는 0.4로서 Rayleigh분해능은 0.38 $\mu\textrm{m}$이다.

Presently, A glass is widely used in telecommunication system, optoelectronic devices and micro electro mechanical systems. Micro drilling of glass using the laser can save processing cost and improve the accuracy. This paper experiments micro drilling using KrF excimer laser on the pyrex glass of $500{\mu}m$ thickness. We have experiment to find out optimum laser machining conditions of micro drilling of glass and ablation depth and influence by processing parameter suc'h pulse repetition rate, energy density and number of pulses. Pulse repetition rate don't influence ablation depth at the micro drilling of pyrex glass. Energy density influence micro drilling of parallelism and maximum thickness that can be drilled. Ablation depth is most influenced by number of pulses.

In order to analyze the discharge-pumped KrF excimer laser, computer simulation code is developed. On the other hand, the electron velocity distribution in a discharge plasma, measured by the Thomson scattering method, showed the Maxwellian, while the code predicted non-Maxwellian. This disagreement was solved by introducing the electron-electron collision into the simulation code. We also developed a simulation code on the CO2 laser-heated plasma in high-pressure Ar gas, and estimated the formation process of Ar2 excimer. The code predicted the possibility of the Ar2 laser action at 126 nm.

We propose a model based on Lotka-Volterra dynamics with two competing spices which are affected not only by harvesting but also by the presence of a predator, the third species. Hyperbolic and linear response functions are considered. We derive the conditions for global stability of the system using Lyapunov function. The optimal harvest policy is studied and the solution is derived in the interior equilibrium case using Pontryagin's maximal principle. Finally, some numerical examples are discussed. The nature of variations in the two prey species and one predator species is studied extensively through graphical illustrations.

현재 암의 치료에 이용되고 있는 항암제들은 therapeutic index가 낮아서 면역 및 조혈기능 장애 등 해결 되어야 할 문제점 들을 안고 있다. 이에 본 여구자는 우수하고 안전한 항암제를 개발하여 암의 치료에 이바지하고자, 화학연구소에서 in vitro 세로독성을 확인한 화합물에 대하여 in vivo 항암력을 실험, 치료효과가 높은 유도체/유사체 개발에 필요한 정보를 제공함에 본 연구의 목표를 두고 있다. 1차년도 연구에서는 화학연구소측이 제공한 KS 0409를 실험 약물로, sarcoma 180 복수암에 대한 in vivo 항암력을 실험하였다. 약 4주령의 SPE(specific pathogen-free) ICR계 마우스 및 BALB/c 마우스를 실험동물로 하여 sarcoma 180 암세포 부유액(세포 농도, 1$\times$$10^{7}$ cells/ml)을 실험동물의 복강내에 0.1ml 씩 이식하고 암이식 24시간 후부터 매일 1회씩 9회 약물 주사를 시행하였다. 대조약물 cisplatin은 2% DMSO-생리식염수를 주사하였다. 생존일수 관찰은 60dlfRK지 하였으며 % T/C를 계산하여 항암력을 평가하였다. 단 60일 생존 동물은 평균수명 계산에서 제외하였다.

Corynebacterium ammoniagenes ATCC 6872, which does not accumulate pyrimidine nucleoside or nucleotide, was metabolically engineered to secrete a large amount of thymidine. Characteristics of 5-fluorouracil resistance ($FU^r$), hydroxyurea resistance ($HU^r$), trimethoprim resistance ($TM^r$), thymidylate phosphorylase deficiency ($deoA^-$), inosine auxotrophy ($ino^-$), 5-fluorocytosine resistance ($FC^r$), thymidine kinase deficiency, and thymidine resistance ($thym^r$) were successively introduced into mutant strains KR3 and DY5T9-5, and shake-flask cultures were able to accumulate 408.1 mg/l and 428.2 mg/l of thymidine, respectively, as a major product. The mutant strains did not accumulate thymine at all and accumulated less than 10 mg/l of other pyrimidine nucleosides, such as cytosine, cytidine, and deoxycytidine, as byproducts.

Efforts were made to improve the efficiency of college education through the use of information technology. This paper investigates student perceptions of a lecture club provided on a social networking website. For the empirical study, the instructor ran a lecture club for two consecutive semesters on Cyworld (www.cyworld.co.kr), a popular website among Korean youth. The research subjects were students enrolled in a Popular Culture & Fashion class. A questionnaire was distributed on the last day of the lectures. After excluding students with perfunctory responses and those who did not sign up for the community website, a total number of 297 questionnaires were used for analysis. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, one-way ANOVA analysis, Duncan test, and t-test were carried out, with the SPSS for Windows 12.0 being used for statistical analysis. The findings show that most students subscribed to the website and responded with a favorable attitude that the lecture club was helpful.
