A typical vulnerability scoring system is Common Vulnerability Scoring System(CVSS). However, since CVSS does not differentiate among the individual vulnerability impact of the asset and give higher priority for the more important assets, it is impossible to respond effectively and quickly to high-risk vulnerabilities on large systems. We propose a Layered weight based Vulnerability impact assessment Scoring System which can hierarchically group the importance of assets and weight the number of layers and the number of assets to effectively manage the impact of vulnerabilities on a per asset basis.

In these days, security threat is ever increasing as computer systems and networking is everywhere. This paper is on the development of security scanner using search engine, with which site managers can easily check security vulnerability on their systems. Our security server automatically collects security-related information on the Internet, and indexes them in the database. To check the vulnerability of a customer server, the client system collects various system-specific information, and sends necessary queries to our security server for vulnerability checking. Up-to-date and site-specific vulnerability information is retrieved through the viewer, which allows the customer effectively to check and respond to security threat on client systems.

As the number of information asset and their vulnerabilities are increasing, it becomes more difficult for network security administrators to assess security vulnerability of their system and network. There are several researches for vulnerability analysis based on quantitative approach. However, most of them are based on experts' subjective evaluation or they require a lot of manual input for deriving quantitative assessment results. In this paper, we propose HRMS(Hacking and Response Measurement System) for enumerating attack path using automated vulnerability measurement automatically. HRMS can estimate exploitability of systems or applications based on their known vulnerability assessment metric, and enumerate attack path even though system, network and application's information are not fully given for vulnerability assessment. With this proposed method, system administrators can do proactive security vulnerability assessment.
The major objective of this paper is to analyze network vulnerabilities using the SIMVA (SIMualtion-based Vulnerability Analyzer). SIMVA is capable of monitor network status and analyze vulnerabilities automatically. To do this, we have employed the advanced modeling and simulation concepts such as SES/MB (System Entity Structure / Model Base) framework, DEVS (Discrete Event System Specification) formalism, and experimental frame for developing network security models and simulation-based analysis of vulnerability. SIMVA can analyze static vulnerability as well as dynamic vulnerability consistently and quantitatively. In this paper, we verified and tested the capability of application of SIMVA by slammer worm attack scenario.

This paper surveys areas of vulnerability to voltage sags in KEPCO system. The area of vulnerability can be defined as the region where the occurrence of faults will lead to voltages lower than the sensitivity threshold of equipment. The analysis of the area of vulnerability is essential for estimating system voltage sag performance and establishing efficient countermeasures for voltage sag problems. In this paper, two buses in KEPCO system were randomly selected and the areas of vulnerability for the buses were calculated by using dedicated software.

Because the traditional network information security vulnerability risk assessment method does not set the weight, it is easy for security personnel to fail to evaluate the value of information security vulnerability risk according to the calculation value of network centrality, resulting in poor evaluation effect. Therefore, based on the network security data element feature system, this study designed a quantitative assessment method of network information security vulnerability detection risk under single transmission state. In the case of single transmission state, the multi-dimensional analysis of network information security vulnerability is carried out by using the analysis model. On this basis, the weight is set, and the intrinsic attribute value of information security vulnerability is quantified by using the qualitative method. In order to comprehensively evaluate information security vulnerability, the efficacy coefficient method is used to transform information security vulnerability associated risk, and the information security vulnerability risk value is obtained, so as to realize the quantitative evaluation of network information security vulnerability detection under single transmission state. The calculated values of network centrality of the traditional method and the proposed method are tested respectively, and the evaluation of the two methods is evaluated according to the calculated results. The experimental results show that the proposed method can be used to calculate the network centrality value in the complex information security vulnerability space network, and the output evaluation result has a high signal-to-noise ratio, and the evaluation effect is obviously better than the traditional method.

We proposed a new scoring system on software vulnerabilities, which calculates quantitatively the severity of software vulnerabilities. The proposed scoring system consists of metrics for vulnerability severity and scoring equations; the metrics are designed to measure the severity of a software vulnerability considering the prevalence of the vulnerability, the risk level of the vulnerability, the domestic market share of the software and the frequency of the software. We applied the proposed scoring system to domestically reported software vulnerabilities, and discussed the effectiveness of the scoring system, comparing it with CVSS and CWSS. We also suggested the prospective utilization areas of the proposed scoring system.

Use-After-Free (UAF) is a common lethal form of software vulnerability. By using tools such as Web Browser Fuzzing, a large amount of samples containing UAF vulnerabilities can be generated. To evaluate the threat level of vulnerability or to patch the vulnerabilities, automatic deduplication and exploitability determination should be carried out for these samples. There are some problems existing in current methods, including inadequate pertinence, lack of depth and precision of analysis, high time cost, and low accuracy. In this paper, in terms of key dangling pointer and crash context, we analyze four properties of similar samples of UAF vulnerability, explore the method of extracting and calculate clustering eigenvalues from these samples, perform clustering by fast search and find of density peaks on a large number of vulnerability samples. Samples were divided into different UAF vulnerability categories according to the clustering results, and the exploitability of these UAF vulnerabilities was determined by observing the shape of class cluster. Experimental results showed that the approach was applicable to the deduplication and exploitability determination of a large amount of UAF vulnerability samples, with high accuracy and low performance cost.

In this research, we propose a methodology for assessing security vulnerability of the national defense intelligence system, considering not only target elements but also the interconnection relationship of the whole system. Existing approaches decide the security vulnerability of the whole system by assessing only target elements. However, those approaches have an issue with potentially showing the same outcome for the systems that have identical target elements but the different types of interconnection relationships. We propose a more practical assessment method which takes the interconnection relationship of a whole system into consideration based on the concept of SNA(Social Network Analysis).
The purpose of this study is to find out quantitative vulnerability assessment about COTS(Commercial Off The Shelf) O/S based I&C System. This paper analyzed vulnerability's lifecycle and it's impact. this paper is to develop a quantitative assessment of overall cyber security risks and vulnerabilities I&C System by studying the vulnerability analysis and prediction method. The probabilistic vulnerability assessment method proposed in this study suggests a modeling method that enables setting priority of patches, threshold setting of vulnerable size, and attack path in a commercial OS-based measurement control system that is difficult to patch an immediate vulnerability.
