The train automatic operation control system is an on-board train control system that is widely adopted in modern rapid transit systems. The control system consists of TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System), ATC(Automatic Train Control), ATO(Automatic Train Operation) and TWC(Train to wayside communication) in the train and wayside facilities. The functions of the system is to regulate train riding comfort, to service limited speed and smoothness during start, acceleration, constant speed travel, and fixed point parking under the corresponding commands. The paper describes the simulation model of the train automatic operation control of subway system, configuration of simulator hardware and software and operational algorithms.

The paper proposes a new protection algorithm for reliable operation of grid-interfaced PV system, which can flexibly interact with conventional protective schemes of power utility grid not only to prevent damages to utility or public persons and utility apparatus caused by malfunction or failure in distribution network protection system, but also to protect a PV system itself from faults or abnormal conditions of the network. The proposed algorithm is based on reclosing characteristics of the distribution system. As a network fault occurs, the new scheme determines whether it is momentary or permanent and responds in a pre-programmed way to the fault. For permanent outage, the proposed algorithm shuts down inverter's operations but monitoring system voltage and frequency at the point of common coupling with grid. When it comes to the momentary outage, Inverter starts stand-by operation mode so that it can be automatically connected to the grid without start-up procedures as soon as the system voltage and frequency returns into the normal operation range. In order to investigate' and evaluate the PV system operation, simulation study based on PSCAD/EMTDC has been carried out to verify the performance of the proposed protection scheme.
The objective of cell operation in CIM is to maximize system efficiency, not the cell itself. We introduce a cell operation scheme that pursues the direction. For specific cases, work center and AS/RS are closely investigated. Structures of their operation mechanism and methods of job scheduling are introduced along with an expert system developed for the scheme. The cell operation softwares developed are now under test at K.U.FMS, a model CIM plant.

Sea operation monitoring system is a system for the automatic ship operation that is used on the variety sea operations such as laying optical cables on the sea between the countries, laying cables on the seabed for a remote island, laying pipelines for the natural gas, and so forth. This system processes data which optained through setting up environment and input from several sensors, and display GPS information with ENC data. And this system processes not only data of root file about sea operation, but also realtime information from PDA of client wirelessly connected with AP on wireless LAN, In addition, this system can improve efficiency of the operation as a result of enabling free movement within valid range. This paper design and Implementation Monitoring system from above appropriate to the embedded system, and improve competitive power of ship through prevention of a ship accident, to keep minimizing operation loads and support both the automatic ship operation and the safety voyage.

Because of high oil prices and emission gas problems, many governments tighten regulation of fuel economy and emission gas. For Passenger car, there are many researches for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and they are being manufactured. On the other hand, there are few researches for plug-in hybrid electric bus that is heavy commercial vehicle. In this study, analysis of fuel economy for series plug-in hybrid electric bus according to engine operation strategy based on simulation is conducted. Forward simulator is developed using Autonomie. Engine operation strategies consist on constant engine operation strategy and engine on/off operation strategy. Considering the engine operation strategy, results of vehicle speed, engine operating points and fuel economy are obtained and analyzed. As a result, engine on/off operation strategy has more advantage than constant engine operation strategy in terms of fuel economy.

This paper presents research on low-voltage microgrids to maintain a continuous power supply to critical loads on grid-connected islands in Korea. The low-voltage microgrids of this paper focused on that changes public office buildings into uninterrupted microgrids by autonomous operation. For this, a microgrid controller (MGC) and a power conditioning system (PCS) that allow a seamless transfer between grid-connected and grid-isolated operation are proposed. The proposed PCS operates with a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) switch and employs a simple structure. It supplies power continuously without operators through a coordinated operation between MGC and PCS. In addition, proposed MG has a schedule operation for minimizing electricity charges and provides ancillary services that enable the utilization of resources according to the operation purpose of utility distribution networks. To demonstrate the uninterrupted low-voltage microgrid proposed in this study, a microgrid was implemented and tested in a public office building in Anjwa Island, Jeollanam-do in Korea. A seamless, autonomous operation history, despite system disturbances, was obtained through a long-term demonstration of operation. The results showed that the proposed microgrid technology can be used to achieve energy resilience in grid-connected island areas.

In this study, the operation strategy of the radiant floor cooling is evaluated in terms of indoor environmental conditions and energy consumption through simulations using the TRNSYS comparing the existing cooling operation. The operation strategy during continuously operated for cooling is proposed that a representative room had additional equipments and other rooms were operated with only a radiant floor cooling system and that system and control method for cooling are varied with period while intermittently operated for cooling. Specifically, when there are no people in the room, rooms were operated by only radiant floor cooling system using cooling storage and when people are occupied, rooms were operated by dehumidification and supplementary cooling device with radiant floor cooling system. The results of this study show that proposed operation strategy can stably maintain the set room air temperature and can reduce the energy consumption compared to the existing cooling method during continuously operated for cooling. While intermittently operated for cooling, the difference of set room air temperature by proposed operation strategy does not happen, satisfying comfort standards and the radiant floor cooling can expect to supply stable electric power because of decreasing demand for peak electric power of energy consumption.
This study conducted a basic study to develop ISM Code operation evaluation module, which is part of development of Safety Management System(ISM Code) Implementation supporting module. In particular, the significant of this study is that it established AHP operation evaluation analysis process, the design of questionnaire, and the hierarchical structure of operation evaluation model standard, focusing on the development of ISM Code operation evaluation module. Also, this study has its value in the point that it attempted to apply AHP scheme, which is part of the main decision-making in management science field, to develop operation evaluation module.

This paper presents simulated and experimental test results of optimal control algorithm for an encapsulated ice thermal storage system with full capacity chiller operation. The algorithm finds an optimal combination of a chiller and/or a storage tank operation for the minimum total operation cost through a cycle of charging and discharging. Dynamic programming is used to find the optimal control schedule. The conventional control strategy of chiller-priority is the baseline case for comparing with the optimal control strategy through simulation and experimental test. Simulation shows that operating cost for the optimal control with chiller on-off operation is not so different from that with chiller part load capacity control. As a result from the experimental test, the optimal control operation according to the simulated operation schedule showed about 14 % of cost saving compared with the chiller-priority control.

This research investigates how a Virtual Reality (VR)-based simulation could be used to train safe operation skills for forklift operators. Forklift operation is categorized as high-risk work by many occupational health and safety regulators and authorities due to high injury and fatality rates involved with forklifts. Therefore, many safety guidelines have been developed for forklift operators. Typically, forklift operation safety training is delivered based on instructional texts or videos, which have limitations in influencing people's safety behavior. Against this background, we propose a VR-based forklift simulator that can enable safe operation skills training through a feedback system. The training program consists of several modules to teach how to perform the basic tasks of forklift operation, such as driving, loading and unloading, following the safety guidelines. The system provides instantaneous instructions and feedback regarding safe operation. This training system is based on the model of "learning-by-doing". The user can repeat the training modules as many times as necessary before being able to perform the given task without violating any safety guidelines. The last training module tests the user's acquisition of all safety skills required. The user feedback from several demonstration sessions showed the potential usefulness of the proposed training system.
