오일샌드 고부가화기술 동향 (High Value-added Technology of Oil Sand)

  • 기존의 경질유가 고갈됨에 따라 새로운 자원개발이 필요해지고 있다. 석유화학산업의 수요를 충족하기 위하여 중질유 혹은 비투맨 등과 같은 중질원료를 사용하고 있다. 비투맨은 복잡하고 고리가 긴 탄화수소의 일종으로 오일샌드로 부터 얻을 수 있는데, 캐나다 앨버타에 매장되어 있는 오일샌드로부터 약 8,300억 배럴의 오일을 얻을 수 있는 것으로 추정된다. 본 보문에서는 (1) 오일샌드, 비투맨, 중질유의 기본 개념, (2) 오일샌드에서 오일을 뽑아내는 방법들, (3) 업그레이드하여 합성원유(synthetic crude oil)를 만드는 방법, (4) 기술의 경제성 평가 등에 대하여 소개하고자 한다.

미라클 탑 엔진 오일이 엔진 성능에 미치는 영향 분석 (The Effects of the Miracle Top Engine Oil In a SI Engine Performance)

  • In this study, general engine oil and the Miracle top engine oil of Dongjin chemistry company were tested to find the effects to the SI engine performance. Roller dynamometer used to find maximum power, fuel consumption rate and the emission. Maximum power was measured higher when the Miracle top engine oil was used in the vehicle. By use of the Miracle top engine oil, fuel consumption rate and emission was measured lower and compression pressure was higher compared use of general engine oil. Also the Miracle top engine oil was found to decrease the engine noise at the low RPM. And after 1,500km drive at the same condition, the dust in the oil pan and oil filter was measured less when the Miracle top engine oil used compared than general engine oil used.

  • 석유자원 고갈, 높은 원유가격 문제 그리고 온실가스인 $CO_2$ 에 의한 지구온난화 문제 때문에 바이오 매스를 이용한 GTL(Gas To Liquid) 공정으로 제조하는 청정 합성연료에 대한 관심이 크게 증가하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 GTL 기술의 3가지 핵심인 천연가스 개질반응, 피셔-트롭스 합성 그리고 물성조절 공정에 관한 기술을 설명하고 각국의 개발현황을 비교하였다.

Thermal Destruction of Waste Insulating Oil Containing PCBs under High Temperature and Pressurized Conditions

  • This experimental study was performed to obtain thermal energy from the combustion of synthetic gas, produced by the pyrolysis of insulating oil containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in a high temperature and high pressure reactor. The average synthetic gas generated was $59.67Am^3/hr$ via the steady state gasification of insulating oil waste (20 kg/hr) with average concentrations (standard deviation) of $CO_2$, CO, and $H_2$ in the synthetic gas of $38.63{\pm}3.11%$, $35.18{\pm}1.93%$, and $28.42{\pm}1.68%$, respectively. The concentrations of the PCBs in the transformer insulating oil and synthetic gas after its gasification, and the concentrations of the dioxins that could be produced from the incomplete degradation of PCBs were measured. It was revealed that the PCBs in the insulating oil were composed of the series from tetrachlorobiphenyl to octachlorobiphenyl. However, only the #49, #44, #52, and #47/75/48 congeners were detected from the synthetic gas after gasification of the insulating oil and in the flue gas from the combustor. In conclusion, the experimental conditions suggested in this study were very useful for the appropriate treatment of insulating oil containing PCBs. Also, fuel gas containing CO and $H_2$ can be obtained from the pyrolysis of insulating oil containing PCBs.

국내 유통 엔진오일 고온모사증류시험 분석 (The SIMDIST (Simulated Distillation) Analysis of Distributing Engine Oil)

  • 자동차용 윤활유가 국내 윤활유 시장의 35%를 차지하고 있으며, 이 중 엔진오일이 자동차용 윤활유의 75%를 차지하고 있다. 운전자와 엔진보호를 위해 유통 엔진오일의 품질이 적절하게 관리되어져야 한다. 하지만 KS제품과 합성엔진오일(합성기유가 30% 이상 포함된 제품)은 석유 및 석유대체연료 사업법상 품질관리에서 제외되어져 있다. PAO (poly alpha olefin)와 같은 합성오일은 기존 광유보다 내마모성, 바니쉬 조절 및 산화안정도와 같은 특성이 우수한 것으로 알려져 있으며, 이러한 이유로 PAO는 엔진오일, 로터리 스크류, 중장비, 왕복 압축기, 극압장비 등에 많이 사용되어져 왔다. 본 연구에서는 고온모사증류시험(SIMDIST)을 이용하여 광유, PAO, 일정 비율의 PAO가 혼합된 광유시료를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 광유는 브로드란 크로마토그램을 얻은 반면, PAO는 특정한 머무름시간에서 샤프한 피크를 보였다. 또한 점도가 큰 물질은 큰 분자량과 높은 끓는점을 지녀 긴 머무름시간을 보였다. 특히 20%의 PAO가 함유된 시료에서 전형적인 광유와 다른 PAO 패턴의 크로마토그램을 보였다. 유통엔진오일 내 PAO 함량을 모니터링하기 위해 국내 판매량이 높은 27종류의 유통엔진오일을 분석한 결과, 모든 제품에서 PAO 함량이 20%보다 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 더욱이 제품명에 PAO라 표현한 제품조차도 PAO 함량이 낮은 것을 보였다. 따라서 합성엔진오일에 대한 적절한 관리 법규가 필요한 것으로 판단된다.

국내 유통 엔진오일 품질 모니터링 (Quality Monitoring for Domestic Distributing Engine Oil)

  • 자동차용 윤활유가 국내 윤활유 시장의 35%를 차지하고 있으며, 이 중 엔진오일이 자동차용 윤활유의 77%를 차지하고 있다. 운전자와 엔진보호를 위해 유통 엔진오일의 품질이 적절하게 관리되어져야 한다. 하지만 KS제품과 합성엔진오일(합성기유가 30% 이상 포함된 제품)은 석유 및 석유대체연료 사업법상 품질검사에서 제외되어져 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내 유통되고 있는 합성엔진오일 30개 제품에 대한 품질 모니터링을 실시하였다. 품질 모니터링 결과, 2개 제품이 품질이 부적합하였는데, 이 중 1개 제품은 해외에서 수입한 합성엔진오일이며, 다른 1개 제품은 KS제품이면서 합성엔진오일이었다. 또한 고온모사증류시험(SIMDIST)을 이용해 엔진오일의 패턴을 분석한 결과, 해외 수입제품 몇 개를 제외하고는 대부분 일반 광유 엔진오일의 전형적인 넓은 탄소수 분포 패턴을 보였다. 따라서 소비자의 피해를 예방하기 위해 KS제품과 합성엔진오일에 대한 적절한 품질관리 법규가 필요한 것으로 판단된다.

가솔린, LPG, 디젤 차량에서 윤활유에 따른 배출가스 및 입자상물질 (Exhaust Gas Emission and Particulate Matter (PM) from Gasoline, LPG and Diesel Vehicle Using Different Engine Oil)

  • This study effect of engine oils on regulated fuel economy and emissions including particulate matter (PM) to provide basic data for management of engine oil in vehicles. Three engine oils (Group III base oil, Group III genuine oil with additive package and synthetic oil with poly alpha olefins (PAOs)) were used in one gasoline, one LPG(liquefied petroleum gas) and two diesel vehicles. In the case of diesel vehicles, one is a diesel vehicle without DPF (diesel particulate filter) other is a diesel vehicle with DPF. In this study, the US EPA emission test cycle FTP-75, representing city driving, was used. HORIBA, PIERBURG, and AVL gas analyzers were used to measure the fuel economy and regulated emissions such as CO, NOx, and THC. The number of PM was measured using a PPS (pegasor particle sensor). And, the shape of PMs was analyzed by SEM (scanning electron microscope). The effects of oil type on fuel economy, exhaust gas, and PM were not significant because engine oil consumption by evaporation and combustion in the cylinder is very tiny. Fuel and vehicle type were dominant factors in fuel economy and emissions. HC emission from gasoline vehicles was higher than that from other vehicles and NOx emission from diesel vehicles was higher than that from other vehicles. The number of PM was not affected by the engine oil, but by the driving pattern and fuel. The shapes of the PM, sampled from each vehicle using any test engine oil, were similar.

장기 저장연료의 열안정성 및 연료접촉 고무오링의 수명예측 연구 (A Study on the Thermal Stability of Long-Term Fuel Storage and Lifetime Estimation of Rubber O-ring in Contacted with Fuel)

  • Thermal deterioration of fuel due to long-term storage influences engine performance and causes malfunctions. Fuel stability is usually evaluated via heat resistance and thermal stability during a brief heat shock at high temperature; storage stability in this scenario means that there is very little change in the quality of the fuel during long-term storage. In addition, rubber-based products such as oil seals, O-rings, and rubber hoses can influence the quality of the fuel. When these rubber products are in contact with fuel, they can swell, mechanically weaken, and occasionally crack, thus leaking low molar weight rubber and additives including plasticizer and antioxidant into the fuel to degrade its properties and shorten its useful lifetime. This study determines the thermal stabilities of three kinds of synthetic fuels by evaluating their low temperature kinematic viscosities, chemical composition changes via GC analyses, gross heat of combustion, and color changes. We evaluate the compression set of O-rings by immersing one NBR and two FKM rubber O-rings in the three synthetic fuel samples in airtight containers at variable storage temperatures for six months; from this, we estimate the lifetimes of the O-rings using the Power law model. There were very little changes in the chemical compositions and gross heat of combustion after six months of the experiment. The lifetimes are thus dependent on the materials of the rubber products, and in particular, the FKM O-ring was calculated to have a theoretical lifetime of 200 to 5,700 years. These results indicate that the synthetic fuels maintain their physical properties even after long-term storage at high temperatures, and the FKM O-ring is suitable for long-term sealing of these fuels.

폐전선으로부터 유가자원 회수를 위한 저온열분해(I) (Low Temperature Pyrolysis for Valuable Resources Recovery from Waste Wire (I))

  • 본 연구에서는 기존 소각방법의 단점을 보완할 수 있는 열분해를 통해 폐전선을 처리하고 부가적으로 생성되는 구리 및 합성연료유의 회수를 그 목적으로 하고 있다. 폐전선의 열분해 공정을 거쳐 구리를 회수하고 쉽게 오일로 분해될 뿐 아니라 오일의 유용성이 매우 크기 때문에 아주 고가의 유효자원을 회수할 수 있다. 폐전선 열분해를 위한 최적 온도를 결정하기 위하여 350, 450, $550^{\circ}C$에서 열분해를 실행하였다. $700^{\circ}C$까지 TG/DTA를 실행하였으며 온도상승률은 분당 $5^{\circ}C$로 하였다. 그 결과 PVC의 염화수소제거를 위한 최적 온도 범위가 PE나 PP보다 낮은 영역인 $280{\sim}350^{\circ}C$임을 보였다. 실질적으로 폐전선으로부터 95% 이상의 구리금속과 발열량이 8027 kcal/kg인 합성연료유를 회수할 수 있었다.

선박에서의 CO2 배출량 저감 방안 연구 (The Study on Reduction Method of CO2 Emission from Ships)

  • This Paper presented the reduction methods of $CO_2$ emission from ships during voyage. In order to decrease $CO_2$ emission during voyage the equation was established and conducted the study about the relationship between ship speed, the propulsive efficiency and its $CO_2$ production. The results obtained from the examinations are as follows : 1. $CO_2$ emission from sailing ships can be decreased by reducing specific fuel oil consumption of main diesel engine, coefficient of total resistance and ship speed and also by increasing propeller efficiency. 2. Diesel-electric propulsion system is more effective than diesel-mechanical system to decrease the level of $CO_2$ emission during long voyage. 3. Good condition of ship's hull surface, rudder and propeller's surface can decrease the quantity of fuel oil and $CO_2$ emission by reducing the resistance of ship that can rise the propeller efficiency 4. $CO_2$ emitted from ships can be decreased in a global scale by giving attention to the synthetic transport efficiency.
