Mass Estimation of a Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor by the Least-Squares Algorithm (선형 영구자석 동기전동기의 최소자승법을 적용한 질량 추정)

  • In order to tune the speed controller in the linear servo applications the accurate information of a mover mass including a load mass is always required. This paper suggests the mass estimation method of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) by using the parameter estimation method of Least-Squares algorithm. First, the deterministic autoregressive moving average(DARMA) model of the mechanical dynamic system is derived. The application of the Least-Squares algorithm shows that the mass can be accurately estimated both in the simulation results and in the experimental results.

An Efficient Coordinator Election Algorithm in Synchronous Distributed Systems (동기적 분산 시스템에서 효율적인 조정자 선출 알고리즘)

  • Leader election is an important problem in developing fault-tolerant distributed systems. As a classic solution for leader election, there is Garcia-Molina's Bully Algorithm based on time-outs in synchronous systems. In this paper, we re-write the Bully Algorithm to use a failure detector instead of explicit time-outs. We show that this algorithm is more efficient than the Garcia-Molina's one in terms of the processing time. That is because the Bully_FD uses FD to know whether the process is up or down so fast and it speed up its execution time. Especially, where many processes are connected in the system and crash and recovery of processes are frequent, the Bully_FD algorithm is much more efficient than the classical Bully algorithm in terms of the processing time.

  • Inductance characteristics, torque variations and ripple according to current, and position of multi-layer buried magnet synchronous machines with field-weakening operations are presented. The rotor structure optimal design of a buried magnet synchronous machine with high performance is investigated, and optimization results and comparison among design candidates are shown. For the fast and accurate search of multiple optima, the auto-tuning niching genetic algorithm is used and a final solution is selected considering various design factors.

  • Speed and torque control of PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) are usually achieved by using position and speed sensors which require additional mounting space, reduce the reliability in harsh environments and increase the cost of a motor. Therefore, many studies have been performed for the elimination of speed and position sensors. In this paper, a novel speed sensorless control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor based on SVMR(Support Vector Machine Regression) is presented. The SVM regression method is an algorithm that estimates an unknown mapping between a system's input and outputs, from the available data or training data. Two well-known different voltage model is necessary to estimate the speed of a PMSM. The validity and the usefulness of proposed algorithm are thoroughly verified through numerical simulation.

  • In the recent past, genetic algorithm (GA) and evolutionary optimization scheme have become increasingly popular for the design of electromagnetic (EM) devices. However, the conventional GA suffers from computational drawback and parameter dependency when applied to a computationally expensive problem, such as practical EM optimization design. To overcome these issues, a hybrid optimization scheme using GA in conjunction with Kriging is proposed. The algorithm is validated by using two mathematical problems and by optimizing rotor structure of interior permanent magnet synchronous machine.

  • Internet-based electronic trade has been growing fast. But most users are not yet familiar with the system and find it very difficult to purchase and sell the products in the cyber market place. To handle these problems, agent-based virtual market place system has been proposed where agents instead of individuals participate in trading of goods. Most of the proposed models have been in the two general categories. The first is the direct transaction among sellers and buyers, and the second is the agent-based transaction. However, the transaction is not fair and the best deal can't be guaranteed for both models. In this paper, we propose a new broker based synchronous transaction algorithm which is fair to both parties and guarantees the best deal. Our algorithm is implemented using Visual C++ and the experimental results show that our method is better than the two traditional transaction models in every performance metrics, Number of transactions are increased up to 21% and price adjustment is up to 280% better for some transactions.

  • A braking algorithm for a PM synchronous motor is presented. The resistance of the stator windings operates as a braking resistors and dissipates the regenerated power from the rotor without any braking components including the electronic power components and control circuits. The proposed braking algorithm maximizes the power dissipation in the stator windings and also generates the maximum braking torque under the limit conditions of DC link capacitor voltage and inverter currents so that it can minimize the braking time.

  • It is not easy to control the speed of AC motors accurately without modeling with some parameters for the controlled system. However, there are some application parts which do not require high speed responses strictly and the motor parameters can not to be identified simply. In this paper, a speed control method for a synchronous motor(S.M) with unknown parameters of the motor is investigated. The method is based on the current control algorithm. Speed controller and current controller are designed using PI control law. Some experiments are performed using DSP and power expert system to prove the validity of the proposed method. Throughout experimental results, the method is confirmed successfully. This method is expected to control the system with unknown parameters of the S.M efficiently.

  • This paper is proposed an efficiency optimization control algorithm for a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) which minimizes the copper and iron losses. fen exists a variety of combinations of d and q-axis current which provide a specific motor torque. The objective of the efficiency optimization controller is to seek a combination of d and q-axis current components, which provides minimum losses at a certain operating point in steady state. It is shown that the current components which directly govern the torque production have been very well regulated by the efficiency optimization control scheme. The proposed algorithm allows the electromagnetic losses in variable speed and torque drives to be reduced while keeping good torque control dynamics. Simulation results are presented to show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • Permanent magnet synchronous motors are mainly used in the traction of electric vehicle and home application products including air-conditioners and refrigerators. For sensorless control without rotor position sensors, I-F control is applied for initial starting at low speeds, and mode is changed to sensorless control when the rotor speed is sufficiently accelerated for estimating rotor position. When the mode is changed to the sensorless control from the open-loop starting, the initial integral value of the speed controller should be considered by load condition; otherwise, the transition to sensorless control may fail. The sensorless transfer algorithm of PM synchronous motor based on load condition for smooth transition is proposed. The performance of the proposed sensorless transfer algorithm was verified by experiments.
