고점성 유체 내부에서의 다상유동장 가시화 및 PIV 측정 (Flow Visualization and PIV Measurement of Multiphase Flow in Highty Viscous Liquid)

  • A visualization study of flow characteristics in a mixer using multi-nozzle bubbling was performed. The mixer is filled with liquid glycerin (dynamic viscosity = $1000mPa{\cdot}$ s at $25^{\circ}C$) and convective mixing is induced by air bubbles generated from 9 orifices installed on the bottom of the mixer. To visualize the flow field, PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) system consisting of 532nm Nd:YAG laser, $2k\times2k$ CCD camera and synchronizer is adopted. The bubbles generated with uniform size and frequency form bubble stream, and bubble streams rise vertically without interaction between bubble streams. Mixing efficiency is affected by the height of bubbler and the effective height of bubbler is 20mm from the bottom of the mixer.

  • Air flow inside an automotive HVAC module has been investigated using a high-resolution PIV technique with varying the temperature operation mode. The PIV system consists of a 2-head Nd:YAG laser (125 mJ), a high-resolution CCD camera (2K$\times$2K), optics and a synchronizer. A real automotive HVAC module was used directly under real operating condition. Some casing parts of the HVAC module were replaced with transparent windows for capturing clear flow images with laser light sheet beam illumination. Time-averaged velocity fields were obtained for two different temperature control modes. Flow characteristics of the air-conditioned air flow inside the automotive HVAC system for the two temperature baffle conditions were evaluated.

시간 측정범위 향상을 위한 펄스 트레인 입력 방식의 field-programmable gate array 기반 시간-디지털 변환기 (Field-Programmable Gate Array-based Time-to-Digital Converter using Pulse-train Input Method for Large Dynamic Range)

  • Field-programmable gate array (FPGA) 기반 시간-디지털 변환기 (time-to-digital converter: TDC)는 구조가 단순하고, 빠른 변환속도를 갖는 딜레이 라인 (delay-line) 방식을 주로 사용한다. 하지만 딜레이 라인 방식 TDC의 시간 측정범위를 늘리기 위해서는 딜레이 라인의 길이가 길어지므로 사용되는 소자가 많아지고, 비선형성으로 인한 오차가 증가하는 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 동일한 길이의 딜레이 라인에 펄스 트레인 (pulse-train)을 입력하여 시간 측정범위를 향상시키고, 리소스를 효율적으로 사용하는 방식을 제안한다. 펄스 트레인 입력 방식의 TDC는 긴 시간을 측정하기 위하여 시작신호의 입력과 동시에 4-천이 (transition) 펄스 트레인이 딜레이 라인에 입력된다. 그리고 동기회로 (synchronizer) 대신 천이 상태 검출부를 설계하여 중지신호 입력 시 사용된 천이를 판별하고, 준안정 상태 (meta-stable state)를 피하면서 딜레이 라인의 길이를 줄이는 구조를 갖는다. 제안한 TDC는 72개의 딜레이 셀 (delay cell)을 사용하였고, 파인부 (fine interpolator)의 성능 측정 결과, 시간 측정범위는 5070 ps, 평균 분해능은 20.53 ps, 최대 비선형성은 1.46 LSB였으며, 시간 측정범위는 계단 (step) 파형을 입력신호로 사용하는 기존 방식 대비 약 343 % 향상되었다.

  • 주파수 선택적 채널에서의 신호왜곡은 수신기에서의 채널추정을 어렵게 하여 펄스 타입의 UWB 시스템의 경우 동기 회로의 구현이 어렵다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 구현상 난점인 채널추정과 동기회로 설계를 간단히 기준 펄스를 함께 전송함으로써 해결하는 TR(Transmitted Reference), DTR(Differential TR) UWB을 분석하고 FSK 변조방법을 이용한 새로운 형태의 PRM(Pulse Repetition Modulation) UWB 방식을 제안한다. 기준 펄스를 이용한 통신의 수신기 구조인 Auto-correlation(AcR) 수신기가 잡음이 섞인 기준펄스를 이용하는 경우 성능저하 정도를 확률적으로 분석한다. 또한 SNR에 영향을 미치는 AcR 적분기의 적분구간에 대한 분석을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 분석한다.

  • 논문에서는 IS-95 역방향링크 신호의 품질 측정을 위한 알고리즘을 제안하고 구현하였다. 수신 신호의 품질을 측정하기 위해서는 등화, 반송파 주파수 및 위상 오프셋 추정, 타이밍 동기가 반드시 필요하며, 모든 신호처리는 기저대역에서 수행된다. 등화기는 칩간 간섭(InterChip Interference)을 제거하기 위해, 4배 오버샘플링된 샘플에 대해서 동작하도록 설계되었다. 반송파 주파수 및 위상 오프셋 추정은 데이터 및 타이밍 정보 없이도 가능하도록 하였기 때문에, 타이밍 동기 이전에 수행된다. 타이밍 동기 시에 사용되는 보간 수(Interpolation Number)에 따라 측정의 정확도가 증가하지만, 계산량도 증가하게 된다. 따라서, 제안된 알고리즘이 구현될 플랫폼 성능에 따라 보간 수를 적절히 선택해야한다.

자동차 HVAC용 Blower Unit 내부 유동장의 PIV 계측 (PIV Measurement of Flow Inside of HVAC Blower Unit)

  • Flow characteristics inside a blower unit of an automotive HVAC module were investigated experimentally using a high-resolution PIV technique. The PIV system consists of a 2-head Nd:YAG laser, a high-resolution CCD camera, optics and a synchronizer. The prototype siroco-fan with forward-curved blades was operated under the same condition of real car. The scroll casing was made transparently for capturing clear flow images. The time-averaged velocity fields were measured in three cross sections. Flow is accelerated with going toward the outer wall of scroll due to centrifugal force and large pressure gradient formed in the region between the fan and the outer casing wall. The presence of the cut-off region and diffusing duct of fan outlet influences largely the flow structure inside the blower unit.

  • DATS will connect with IMPS and LHGS to perform the reception of sensor data and the transmission of user's meteorological data, LRIT and HRIT. MODEM/BB will perform the de-commutation of received sensor data as MI and GOCI raw data according to VCID before sending them to MI and GOCI IMPS, respectively. Especially, MODEM/BB in SOC needs to be connected to six clients that consist of the primary and backup IMPS of MSC, KOSC and SOC. On the other hand, LRIT and HRIT delivered from LHGS are encoded as VITERBI and modulated by MODEM/BB. Considering sensor data transmitted from COMS, the assumed format and size of CADU are described in this paper. Finally, results related to the status of received LRIT and HRIT by frame synchronizer in user station are also described.

  • To diagnose the vascular diseases from the viewpoint of hemodynamics, we need detailed quantitative hemodynamic information of related blood flows with a high spatial resolution of tens micrometer and a high temporal resolution in the order of millisecond. For investigating in-vivo hemodynamic phenomena of vascular circulatory diseases, a new diagnosing technique combining a medical radiography and PIV method was newly developed. This technique called 'Angiographic PIV system' consists of a medical X-ray tube, an X-ray CCD camera, a shutter module for generating double pulse-type X-ray, and a synchronizer. Through several preliminary tests, the feasibility of the Angiographic PIV technique was verified. For in-vivo applications to real blood flows, we developed tracer microcapsules, which were optimized to this system, made of a contrast material of iodine and a matrix material of PVA (polyvinylpyrrolidone). In near future, the Angiographic PIV technique will be used for understanding hemodynamic phenomena of vascular diseases and for their early detection.

  • Automatic control systems(AVR, Governor, Synchronizer) installed $1970{\sim}1980$ in K-water were considered to be rehabilitated around 2000. Moreover, Korea Power Exchange market system was changed from PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) to a bidding system. Therefore, depending on the power quality, the power provider could achieve additional profits. It is the excitation system and governor that have the functions of enhancing power necessities. During the 20 to 30 years of generator operation, there were many major and minor problems. Examples are SCR burnout (Andong: Excitation system), hunting (Imha: governor), field circuit breaker failure (Chungju 1st: excitation system), the rise of leakage current (Chungju 2nd: excitation system), power supply burnout (Chungju 2nd: governor). These are the typical examples of malfunction which hindered the generator operation and, consequently, diminished the profit of power business. In order to satisfy the needs of the power market and prevent malfunctions mentioned above, the rehabilitation of AVRs and governors were executed. A new system was made to have the flexibility of ancillary service (GF, AGC, etc.), PSS function. With user friendly HMI software, it is more convenient for the operator to fulfill suitable maintenance. It was possible to connect SCADA system by opening protocol of AVR, governor for the efficiency of operation and maintenance.

전륜구동 수동변속기에 대한 트라이볼로지적 고장사례 연구 (Tribological Failure Study of Manual Transmissions in Front Engine and Front Wheel Drive Vehicle)

  • The purpose of this paper is to present the case study of tribological failure analysis on the gear damages, oil leakage, and sealant sealing in a manual transmission of front engine and front wheel drive vehicle. The manual transmission is to change the speed range and direction of the engines depending on the driving conditions by friction driving forces with input and output gear system. The material property and surface roughness of the gears are strongly related to the gear noise and micro-vibration, oil leakage and wear, which may decrease the real contact area of the gear and the strength of the oil film thickness between the driving gear and driven one. The O-ring damage of speedometer driven gear and bad sealant sealing of oil pan may produce oil leakage through the contact surfaces, which cause the oil shortage and seizure on the sliding surfaces of the transaxle gears. In the failure case study, the proper repair working and good lubrication are very important for the long life of the transaxle without any tribological failures and oil leakage.
