The purpose of this study is to figure out how stage costume of Peking Opera communicates what the character wants to inform to spectator. The stage costume means the clothing, shoes, headdress, accessory that the cast is worn for communicating personality of character. Stage costume not only reveals the character of new spirit who the director and the work is like to create, but also makes the style of play harmonizing with the atmosphere of the work. So, the stage costume in the play is a sort of symbol system that forms the depth of play. The stage costume of Peking Opera was formed on the basis of the Chinese traditional stage costume in the Qing period, however the style of stage costume was beautified the costume of Ming period and here contained the factors of successive costumes. But the stage costume of Peking Opera don't have the same rank system with real history costume and don't have demarcation according to period and history. Only it is that transformed and created the real history costume with Chinese fine view and made how they wear Chinese fine view and made how they wear the costume according to position, age, personality of character in the play. In the stage costume of Peking Opera, the color is cultural language that director can communicate to spectators and can inform spectator of sex, age, personality, position of the character. The color of the stage costume of Peking Opera reflects the principles of Yin and Yang and the five elements of the Chinese cosmogony. The pattern of decoration also makes the personality and characteristic of the character. The dragon pattern symbols the authority and majesty, so only the character of high position can use it. The pattern of tiger and leopard symbols bravery, so the military officer can use it. Civil officer decorates with the pattern of Japanese apricot, orchid, chrysanthmum, bamboo that symbols integrity and honor. The stage costume of Peking Opera communicates the identity of character with the special form of costume. Kanjien is a costume of the young priestess, Houyi is the Sunwukong'costume. Chayi is a costume of boatman. Lingzi, Sweixiu, Kaoqi is the props for the foramtive effect of stage costume, also they play an important part in expressing the emotion situation. In the result of study, we could know that the form, color, pattern of the stage costume and props of Peking Opera play important parts in communicating informations that let spectator can understand the play. So, the stage costume of Peking Opera is an‘picturizing costume’that the form, color, pattern of the stage costume is a sort of symbol system. It makes spectator feels actually the viewing Peking Opera.

Optical music recognition (OMR) systems have been developed in recent years. However, chord symbols that play a role in a music sheet have been still disregarded. Therefore, we aimed to develop a proper approach to recognize these chord symbols. First, we divide the image of chord symbol into small segments in horizontal by a method based on vertical projection. Then, the optimal combination of these segments is found by using a lexicon-driven word scoring technique and a nearest neighbor classifier. The word that corresponds to the optimal combination is the result of recognition. The experiment gives an impressive result with accuracy 97.32%.

The main purpose of this study is to discribe the transfiguration process and the symbols of theatrical costume of Sandai masque(산대놀이) during the Choson Dynasty. Sandai masque as a popular play is a very important form in the history of the Korean theatre. Furthermore in order to analyze the mutual relationship and difference between in the early and later Chosen Dynasty, Narye has is stressed deeply a national amusement event. In the early years of Choson Dynasty, non-official culture such as outside of Seoul and Seoul were subject to the official culture of the Court. In the late years, actors become more and more libral, separating themselves from the systemical restriction. The main reason for this is the growth of capitals in private sectors as well as the growth in demand for entertainment among private citizens. On these backgrounds, the transfiguration process of Sandai masque have changed the treatrical costume. The treatrical costume carries symbolic meaning to the obserber. The value of symbol changes as the time passes, overtime thereby altering its meaning as well. The caracters and plots change inevitably over years but the basic theme remains. The symbols of theatrical costume of Sandai masque are mainly focused on three subjects: first, the entrance of a dragon and tiger originated in the exorcism for good harvest; second, color symbolism expressed in the confrontation between red and black; and third, associate characteristics of dress forms related to regoinal classification of the mask dance.

기하적 성질을 이해하고 받아들이는 데 있어서 중요한 직관은 학습을 통해서도 형성될 수 있다. 본 연구는 2명의 학생을 대상으로 기호화, 문장화, 증명 과제를 수행하게 하여 기하 증명에서 기호의 중재에 의한 직관의 형성 과정을 살펴본다. 학생들에게 자명하고 당연하게 여겨지는 단정적 직관의 유무에 따라 기호가 어떤 역할을 하는지 살펴보고, 예상적 직관이 형성되지 않은 증명 문제에서 학생들이 기존 지식을 활용하여 증명을 완성하는 과정을 기호의 의미작용에 의해 설명한다. 마지막으로 피타고라스의 정리에 대해 기호의 중재에 의해서 결론적 직관이 형성되는 과정을 살펴본다.

This study intended to analyze the transition of design of Korean soccer player's uniform according to development of the society and changes in formative elements, and examine features inside them by considering designs of soccer player's uniform by ages ranging from the introduction of soccer up to now. Results of the study are summed up below. First, as a result of analyzing designs of soccer player's uniforms from 1920 to 2002 Korea-Japan WorldCup based on formative elements of the style of dress. \circled1 it is shown that basic shape has been kept but changes in only color. cutting, trimming, logo and symbol have existed. \circled2 Colors of the uniforms have been different according to ages but red, blue and white colors have been used most and sometimes black was employed. so it is known that colors in the Korean national emblem have been all used. \circled3 In the beginning of the uniform there was a limitation in its design due to absence of functional materials but now highly-sensitive textile products and highly-functional textile materials guaranteeing optimal condition and highest activity of a soccer player have been utilized in various ways. \circled4 It is known that symbols modelling the image of Korea have been used in diverse ways but effected much by directions toward images pursued by designers of sponsors. Second, the meanings represented by designs of the uniforms are classified into a degree of symbolizing Korea, tradition, superiority and dynamics. That is to say, \circled1as colors and symbols coming from the emblem have been used in the uniforms. they have symbolized one nation and possessed the meaning representing even Korean national spirit. \circled2As traditional colouring and symbols have been used in the uniforms, they have shown the Korean sense of a beauty. \circled3 Colors, tones and designs overwhelming the mood of play have been used in the uniforms, so that they have played a role in making players of other team flinch mentally and making Korean players gain an advantage over them. \circled4 Thanks to strong symbols or comparative effects of colors. they have shown the dynamics representing power and energy.

음악 연구에 따른 컴퓨터의 역할이 점차 중요한 비중을 차지함에 따라 보다 효과적인 악보 인식 방법이 요구된다. 기존의 악보 인식 방법에서는 특정 수정 프로그램에서 만든 악보만 그 프로그램에서 재수정과 재생이 가능하다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위하여 이미 작성 되어있는 악보들을 자동으로 인식하고 재생을 할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 악보 인식 방법은 수평 히스토그램을 이용하여 악보 이미지의 오선을 제거한 후, grassfire 알고리즘을 적용하여 잡음을 제거하고 악보 구성 기호들을 추출한다. 추출된 악보 구성 기호들은 악보 구성 기호의 특징을 이용하여 음표와 쉼표, 그 외의 기호들로 분리한다. 분리된 음표 기호들은 박자마다 다른 음표 형태의 특징을 이용하여 다시 세밀하게 분리하고 쉼표와 그 외의 기호들은 퍼지 ART 알고리즘을 적용하여 인식한다. 인식된 악보 구성 기호들을 이용하여 각각 정보를 저장하고 향후에 악보 구성 기호에 해당하는 음의 재생을 용이하게 한다. 제안된 악보 인식 방법의 성능을 평가하기 위해 50장의 악보 영상을 대상으로 실험한 결과, 본 논문에서 제시한 악보 영상의 인식 방법이 실험을 통해서 효율적인 것을 확인하였다.

The objective of this Paper was to identify the internal and external symbols of Punks, and to assess the significance of punk style giving an inspiration to many high fashion designers. For this objective. comprehension on widely discussed idea of punk, furthermore grasping the internal and external form by inquiring historically punk look, and importantly looking into new ideas pursued by punk fashion by studying traits of punk image in 1980's and after are done. Punk in the latter half of the 70's was anti-fashion expressed for the young of working class to rebel against the established generation. At first some of the fashion was popularized by the young who imitated pop stars under the specific economy of Britain, and others with movement of hippie Punk is aesthetics extremism which neglects traditionalism in the past but pursues newness. It denied traditional way of expression and principles of aesthetics but created newness. Punk look was symbolized as poor look. grotesque, androgynous, black, graffiti, and bricolage. And the internal meanings of these symbols are ego-screaming, expression of nihilism, resistance, irony and ridicule, search for hedonism. The punk phenomenon continues today. Some teens still cling to the complete look. whether they have punks' idea and value or not. Diverse elements of punk style play a major role in the current trend of fashion and a source of the fresh inspiration for the high fashion designers. Punk style is truly the story of a fad that turned to fashion.

We introduce a learning system for the sight reading of simple drum sequences. Sight reading is a cognitive-motor skill that requires reading of music symbols and actions of multiple limbs for playing the music. The system provides knowledge of results (KR) pertaining to the learner's performance by color-coding music symbols, and guides the learner by indicating the corresponding action for a given music symbol using additional auditory or vibrotactile cues. To evaluate the effects of KR and guidance cues, three learning methods were experimentally compared: KR only, KR with auditory cues, and KR with vibrotactile cues. The task was to play a random 16-note-long drum sequence displayed on a screen. Thirty university students learned the task using one of the learning methods in a between-subjects design. The experimental results did not show statistically significant differences between the methods in terms of task accuracy and completion time.

A spectrally encapsulated (SE) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) precoding scheme for wireless short packet transmission, which can suppress the out-of-band emission (OoBE) while maintaining the advantage of the cyclic prefix (CP)-OFDM, is proposed. The SE-OFDM symbol consists of a prefix, an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) symbol, and a suffix generated by the head, center, and tail matrices, respectively. The prefix and suffix play the roles of a guard interval and suppress the OoBE, and the IFFT symbol has the same size as the discrete Fourier transform symbol in the CP-OFDM symbol and serves as an information field. Specifically, as the center matrix generating the IFFT symbol is orthogonal, data and pilot symbols can be allocated to any subcarrier without distinction. Even if the proposed precoder is required to generate OFDM symbols with spectral efficiency in the transmitter, a corresponding decoder is not required in the receiver. The proposed scheme is compared with CP-OFDM in terms of spectrum, OoBE, and bit-error rate.
