상징어 어근으로 형성된 한국어 성격 형용사 연구 (A Study on Character Adjectives in Korean that Have Symbolic Words as Roots)

  • This study aims to observe the features of Korean adjectives composed with symbolic base impling human character. Korean adjectives composed with symbolic base shows more delicate nuances than ordinary adjectives. For observing the feature of them we analyzed the 6000 symbolic words in 'Stanadard Korean Dictionary'. As a result,the symbolic base of adjectives is divided into the one that maintain the basic meaning of symbolic words and the other that do not maintain basic meaning of symbolic words. The base that maintain the basic meaning of symbolic words is divided into the one that has meaning of character and the other that do not has meaning of character. The base that do not maintain the basic meaning of symbolic words is divided into the one that can relate with '-hada' and the other that cannot relates with '-hada'. This study remains the problem in future to examine common points of symbolic base.

  • 외계의 음을 묘사하거나 자연계 사물의 모양, 현상, 움직임, 상태 모습을 표현한 상징적 음성언어의 지도방법으로 사전적인 뜻풀이의 일방적인 해설을 삼가고 학습자들의 생각을 자극하고 학습자 스스로 의미를 이해할 수 있는 노래와 만화와 같은 쉽고 재미있는 활동이 요구된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 언어 학습 활동 로봇 콘텐츠를 개발하고 학습활동 후 학업 성취도와 정의적 영역에서의 변화를 비교하여 로봇의 교육적 활용 가능성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 로봇과 컴퓨터를 활용한 흉내내는 말 학습 활동 후 소리, 모양, 움직임을 흉내내는 말의 3가지 유형의 성취도를 측정한 결과 소리와 모양을 흉내내는 말 학습에서는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았지만, 움직임을 흉내내는 말 학습에서는 매우 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 또한 로봇을 활용한 흉내내는 말 학습 활동은 학습자의 정의적 영역(흥미도, 이해도, 성취도)에 긍정적인 변화를 가져왔음을 알 수 있었다.

공간에서 빛의 유형분류와 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Categorization and Characterization of Light in Space)

  • Light has primary function to enlighten the darkness. However, as development and progresses in media has caused big change in our life, the range of usage and application of light is broadened. And these days, light is actively used as a communication tool in a space. This thesis is based on an idea that a new prospect of light is required and at the same time the theoretical foundation should be established to take active advantage of light. In Chapter two, analysis criteria are established to verify study hypothesis. The applied methodology is to analysis the contents based on literature review. Key words related light in space design are extracted and the frequency of those key words are quantitatively measured. Taking advantage of the result, the characteristics of light are divided into three categories, 'light as symbolic information', 'light as communication medium' and 'light as topological form'. In chapter three, analysis of cases is performed. The cases are selected based on space analyzing criteria established in Chapter two. Qualitative analysis is performed on the cases categorized into natural light and artificial light. Basic analysis elements are evaluated for each case. And each case is allocated to one of three categories, 'light as symbolic information', 'light as communication medium' and 'light as topological form'. Through this analysis, it is found that light in space has prevailing characteristics of 'light as symbolic information' and 'light as communication medium'.

화이트헤드의 언어 이해와 상징적 연관 (Language and Symbolic Reference in Whitehead′s Philosophy)

  • Whitehead's discussion of language is not to be found in any one book or article. It is interwoven with his discussion of many other questions. He was, however, greatly concerned with the problem of symbolism in general and the uses of language. He regards language, spoken or written, as an instrument devised by men to aid them in their adjustment to the environment in which they live Language is used for many specific purposes in the process of this adjustment. Words are employed not only to refer to data and to express emotions. They may be used also to record experiences, and thoughts about these experiences. Worts also function as instruments in the organization of experiences as they are considered in retrospect. Thus words free us from the bondage of the immediate. And Whitehead's theory of meaning is implicit in his discussion of the functions of language. According to him, the human mind is functioning symbolically when some components of its experience elicit consciousness, beliefs, emotions, and usages, respecting other components of its experiences. The former set of components are the 'symbols', and the latter set constitute the 'meaning' of the symbols. Whitehead points out that one word may have several meanings, i.e. refer to several different data. In order to understand, thus, the meaning to which a word refers, it is sometimes very important to appreciate the system of thought within which a person is operating. Further, Whitehead's discussion of language includes a number of cogent warning the deficiencies of language, and hence the need for great care in the use of words. In fact, language developed gradually. For the most part we have created words designed to deal with practical problems. Attention focuses on the prominent features in a situation, in particular the changing aspects of things. With reference to such data our words are relatively adequate. However, this issues in an unfortunate superficiality. The enduring, the subtle, the complex and the general aspects of the universe do not have adequate verbal representation. for this reason, Whitehead's position concerning the uses of language in speculative philosophy is stated with pungent directness. The uncritical trust in the adequacy of language is one of the main errors to which philosophy is liable. Since ordinary language does not do justice to the generalities, profundities and complexities of life, it is obvious that philosophy requires new words and phrases, or at least the revision of familiar words and phrases. Proceeding to develop the theme Whitehead contends that words and phrases must be stretched towards a generality foreign to their ordinary usage. In the same vein Whitehead refers to the need to realize that language which is the tool of philosophy needs to be redesigned just as in physical science available physical apparatus needs to be redesigned. But even these words and phrases, stretched or redesigned, are never completely adequate in philosophical speculations. They are, in his opinion, merely a great improvement over ordinary language or the language science, mathematics or symbolic logic.

텍스트로서의 조경드로잉 - 읽기의 틀과 실제 - (Landscape Drawing as a Text: Practical and Theoretical Approach)

  • The Landscape drawing is used as main media in landscape design process like the language in daily life for human. Designers input many intentions and meaningful words in design process through landscape drawing. The common purpose of landscape drawing is to represent reality effectively, even though it has variable visual forms and materiality. The representation in landscape drawing in metaphorical as well as visual and functional. But current tendency is inclined to use landscape drawing in a functional aspect for visual representation and the landscape drawing is utilized straight-forwardly rather than metaphorically for clear communication. Such recognition on landscape drawing results from the difficulty to accept the symbolic aspect of the drawing. The difficulty makes the utilization and the interpretation of landscape drawing stay at conventional level in following visible factors. For the sake of solving the difficulty this study considers landscape drawing as the text that contains readable objects and symbolic words. This study presents layer-methods for reading a landscape drawing as a text; situational and contextural reading, iconological reading and reading the subject of drawing.

중국인 학습자를 위한 한국어 교재의 어휘 분석 및 개선 방안 한국어 '상징부사+용언'을 중심으로 (A Vocabulary Analysis and Improvement Plan of Korean textbooks for Chinese learners: focusing on Korean "symbol adverb+predicate")

  • 본 연구는 중국인 한국어 학습자들이 세밀한 느낌과 다양한 감정을 표현할 때 보다 정확하게 말할 수 있도록 한국어 '상징부사+용언'형을 중심으로 효과적인 교재 개선안을 마련하는 데 목적이 있다. 다수 외국인 학습자들이 어휘를 습득할 때 개별 단어를 암기하고자 노력하고 있으며, 어휘간의 결합을 중시하지 않으므로 한국어 어휘를 정확하고 자연스럽게 사용하지 못하는 문제점이 있다. 상징부사는 고립되어 사용하지 않으며 특정 어휘와 자주 공기하기 때문에 개별 어휘가 아닌 '상징부사+용언' 형태로 가르치는 것이 더 효과적이다. 따라서 본고는 상징부사 뒤에 오는 특정 어휘 또는 공통적인 의미자질을 가진 어휘 군과 자주 공기할 수 있는 것을 중심으로 고찰하였다. 이에 상징부사 뒤에 서술어가 함께 사용되는 양상의 차이를 밝히기 위하여 국내·외 대학 기관에서 사용하고 있는 한국어 7종 교재를 중심으로 비교·분석하였다. 마지막으로 교재 분석 결과를 바탕으로 중국인 학습자를 위한 한국어 '상징부사+용언'형의 개선 방안을 제시하였다.

증례 '금지된 언어와 침묵을 넘어서'를 통해 본 정신신체화 환자와의 소통 (Communication with Psychosomatic Patient: With a Clinical Vignette "When Words Are Unspeakable: A Bridge Beyond the Silence")

  • What should a therapist do if the patient has lost the ability to speak in sessions? How should the therapist understand and approach this 'deadly silence'? Psychosomatic patients have poor ability to mentalize their experience, so they create a 'shunt' from emotional experience to body bypassing symbolic sphere. This makes psychosomatic patients vulnerable to expressing their emotions in words. With the case vignette 'When words are unspeakable: a bridge beyond the silence' written by Wirth in a book "From soma to symbol" we observe how psychosomatic pathology arises, from inappropriate mirroring and poor containment; and how this escalates into a vicious cycle of sin and punishment in the patient's conscience. This conscience scenario imprisons a talented and creative mind in a dark, silent place, wherein symbols and words are forbidden. This seemingly impossible task of providing silent patients with a 'talking cure' finds breakthrough with containment, and transformative thinking using therapists' reveries.

Forecasting Symbolic Candle Chart-Valued Time Series

  • This study introduces a new type of symbolic data, a candle chart-valued time series. We aggregate four stock indices (i.e., open, close, highest and lowest) as a one data point to summarize a huge amount of data. In other words, we consider a candle chart, which is constructed by open, close, highest and lowest stock indices, as a type of symbolic data for a long period. The proposed candle chart-valued time series effectively summarize and visualize a huge data set of stock indices to easily understand a change in stock indices. We also propose novel approaches for the candle chart-valued time series modeling based on a combination of two midpoints and two half ranges between the highest and the lowest indices, and between the open and the close indices. Furthermore, we propose three types of sum of square for estimation of the candle chart valued-time series model. The proposed methods take into account of information from not only ordinary data, but also from interval of object, and thus can effectively perform for time series modeling (e.g., forecasting future stock index). To evaluate the proposed methods, we describe real data analysis consisting of the stock market indices of five major Asian countries'. We can see thorough the results that the proposed approaches outperform for forecasting future stock indices compared with classical data analysis.

마그리트 회화와 라캉의 주체론 - 응시, 세계와의 조우 (Magritte's drawings and Lacan's Subject theory: Gaze, Encounter with the world)

  • The subject is connected with a structure named "The Symbolic" to Lacan, but he denied that the subject is explained simply as a fruit of language and "Other". From his point of view, passing through Subject, De-formation and Crack over it is designated as foundation of generation and creation rather than our destined defect. It should not be understood that subject of "The Real" is a concept of the subject free itself from restraint of "The Symbolic". However, this does not mean he asserts "Subject" is something incapable of being controlled by the unknown power. The problem is that this autonomous existence meets inside of it with something "more than one's own self" by "circulating around itself" like a permanent star. This is the indication of a "stranger in the middle of my privacy", or "extimit$\'{e}$", a coined-word by Lacan. Perhaps "Subject" is nothing more than the name of distance of object which is "too hot" to come close, and of this circulating movement. It's because of this object that the real subject stands against generalization and the subject can't be restored to any place in symbolic order-even though it is empty. The part which is told from Lacan's structural theory, that is to say, an importance to Lacan is that his Subject theory is not suggested or denied as a manual structure. On the contrary, it is a study of the relationship between the settled symbol that included in "real subject which is a unconscious one" and the symbolic subject hold- that is a metaphysical subject in general meaning. In Lacan's enlarged concept of subject beyond symbolic reality, it is noticeable that it gives justifiability to the union of a medium of different nature in artistic expression. We can recognize that the unconscious world is a living space which enables it to be a "condition of human being", not something dark under the surface of water through Magritte's(Rene Magritte, 1898~1967) surrealistic works. In other words, Magritte's art secures a core dimension of human nature through a mysterious gap of conscious and settled space. Magritte's drawings often evokes strange and unsettling feelings in people who view his paintings. This is because routine objects are found in "unsuitable" places from which we usually find them in our everyday lives. "Reality" in Magritte's paintings makes it aware that it is a strained field of concealment and disclosure basically between truths, and we can learn that his behavior to overturn to paint in-visible things is finally an effort to restore the "real subject" to the viewer's reality. In other words, such reversion arouses a nostalgic desire for the objects existing in their original appearance as they are - natural condition that our gaze had not been distorted yet by anamorphic stains. - and the state when we are conscious of them normally. Such desire offers an opportunity for us to get out of mental depression rather than operates to us as an abnormal crack. It's a successive process of effort to search for lost subject and Paradise Lost facing up to reality of subject human that is to be a subject of world and life are ousted from their place by structure and authority of culture.

허영만의 작품에서 나타난 효과태의 상징어적 특징과 활용 (A Symbolic Characteristic of Mimetic Words in Published Cartoon: Focusing on Works of Heo, Young Man)

  • 만화에서의 다양한 연출은 웹툰의 대중화와 함께 세로 스크롤 연출이 기존의 출판만화의 페이지 연출과 대립하는 양상을 보이며 새로운 장르를 구축해냈다. 많은 출판만화의 연구가 페이지를 위시한 컷 연출에 초점을 두고 있지만, 웹툰에는 페이지의 개념이 없다. 대중 지향의 만화는 시대의 변화에 따라 구심점이 지면에서 컴퓨터 모니터로 옮겨가며 매체의 특성 또한 달라졌으며, 매체는 점점 다원화되고 있다. 스마트폰의 유행으로 인한 모바일의 강세, 공교육에서의 태블릿 PC의 보급화 전망과 같이, 만화는 급변하는 매체환경에 속해있다. 이러한 상황에서도 만화의 변하지 않는 중요한 정체성중의 하나를 꼽자면 그림과 텍스트의 조합이 만들어 내는 연출이다. 이 논문에서는 허영만의 작품을 중심으로 만화 의태어인 효과태가 가진 상징어적인 특성과 효용가치를 분석하였다. 효과태는 단지 소리뿐만이 아니라 모양, 느낌, 상태 등을 전달하며 문학적 상상구조를 발동시킴으로써 함축적 특성을 가진다. 현대국어의 장점인 다양한 언어 표현과 자모체계는 미세한 어감과 정서의 차이점을 느끼게 해주며 직접 경험과 간접 경험을 통한 기억을 떠올려서 뉘앙스화하기 때문이다. 이러한 특징들로 인해서 허영만의 대표작들은 상업성과 작가성을 동시에 지니고 오랜 세월동안 대중과의 소통을 해왔으며 한국적인 만화의 소양을 풍부하게 가지고 있다. 허영만의 만화에 나타난 효과태의 특징은 만화의 표현과 전달에 있어서 일반적인 기대 이상으로 효과태가 미치는 영향이 크다는 것을 알 수가 있다. 피수용자인 독자는 그림과 글 사이에서 적극적으로 지적인 추리를 하면서 그 과정 자체를 즐기며, 그러한 과정에 대사 텍스트 이상으로 상상력을 자극하는 장치가 효과태이며, 효과태는 상징적 구조를 장점으로 하는 독자의 능동적 참여 장치이다.
